OBI Web Services Error: Unable to read ReportDataFile

Hi,
We're developing reports using BI Publisher. We got a couple of questions regarding the web services.
1. If I have a xml data file on local disk (e.g. c:\reports\data.xml), how do I set the file location in the ReportRequest? I see an attribute called reportDataFileName, but no matter how I set it, it always throws an exception: oracle.apps.xdo.webservice.exception.OperationFailedException: PublicReportService::generateReport failed: due to unable to read ReportDataFile [c:\reports\data.xml].
2. When I call runReport(), it returns bytes in ReportResponse.resportBytes. Is there a way to let publisher save the report file on the server disk and return me the file location?

Hi,
File location cannot be your local machine location it should be the server location of file. As while creating a data source for the file you need to specify the file location of the server where your file is kept and then you can use it.
For the second can you please explain it as i am not sure what issue it is facing.

Hi,
Do you have proxy server , check property added t.o the java proxyparameter .
Also check the log , any fire wall restricting the connection.
Its better, you put error log you get.

Web Service; Error attempting to read from file

I'm trying to connect to a web service as outlined by the book "Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer" which is an excellent book by the way.
I'm receiving the following error "Error attempting to read from file. http://www.webservicex.net/BibleWebservice.asmx"
I've successfully created the Data Connection to
http://www.webservicex.net/BibleWebservice.asmx?wsdl
I dragged and dropped the bookTitle, chapter & Versie onto the form. I also dragged and dropped the GetBibleWordsByChapterAndVerseResult and the GetBibleWordsByChapterAndVerseBtn.
I Preview PDF and click the button I get the above error.
Does anyone have experience using Web Services with Adobe LiveCycle ES and have advice on how to resolve this. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I have more news on the error I'm getting. - NO I didn't find the problem. Yet
I checked and made sure that web.config had "None" selected " in authentication mode. I.E. <authentication mode="None" /> This should eliminate any authentication problems since that turns off IIS's authentication checking.
At first I was thinking the form was generating the error trying to read the result coming back from the web service, but I put in some code that writes the result to a log file when the method fires off.
I noticed that when I clicked on the button on the form, the error message would pop up from Acrobat, but when I check the log file, there was NO entry. This means that Acrobat failed before it could execute the method.
Here is the web method:

HP Photosmart 7520 unable to connect to web services error

I've used my HP Photosmart 7520 for years without issue scanning to email. Now I get "Unable to connect to Web Services" error message. I've done all the procedures listed in the blog, including changing the manual DNS server configuration and still get the same error. Help!

Web Services error with BI Publisher

I'm attempting to test a Web Service to call BI Publisher. In theory you should be able to prove xml data as input to ReportRequest with reportDataFileName attribute.
In JDeveloper, I set the path of the xml file like this: repRequest.setReportDataFileName("C:\\PubHome_1\\xmlp\\XMLP\\DemoFiles\\test.xml");
I get this error when I run: "javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: oracle.apps.xdo.webservice.exception.OperationFailedException: PublicReportService::generateReport failed: due to unable to read ReportDataFile [C:\PubHome_1\xmlp\XMLP\DemoFiles\test.xml]"
Did I set the attribute incorrectly?

The line return on this forum removed the double backslash from what you posted as the path in your config file? (looks like it does when I tried it)

Web Services Error When running Sample Application

When I was testing "Create a New Customer" from the Sample application in Oracle's provided free new HTML DB 2.0 environment (just out last night), I got the following error message.
ORA-20001: The webservice was unreachable because either the URL you supplied was invalid, or your environment requires a valid proxy server address for HTTP requests.
I was using my laptop through SBC Yahoo DSL service (dynamic IP address) to test this HTML DB Sample application.
Any suggestion for this Web Services Error?

Oracle's IT team has disabled the ability to call web services from htmldb.oracle.com. We are working with them to resolve this, but I don't have an ETA.

B2B RosettaNet incoming messages throws error "Unable to read the preamble"

Hi,
We have configured Oracle B2B to send Invoices to TP using Rosettanet V2.0.
The incoming message are coming to B2B server via DMZ running apache HTTP server. We have security certificates installed on DMZ and has shared the public key with the TP.
TP has shared public key which we have installed on SOA server keystore.
We are able to see incoming messages in "Wire Message" tab, but the status is "processing". The SOA log file shows the error "Unable to read the preamble".
Any suggestion on this really appreciated.

The configuration that we have here is -
Outbound
SOA -> <Firewall> TP
Inbound
TP -> DMZ(SSL Enabled) -> FIREWALL -> SOA Server
SOA server is SSL enabled too, but the communication between DMZ and SOA has been configured on HTTP (non SSL). We shared the public key of DMZ server with the TP.

LS Join Launcher Web Service error 64008

I getting multiple
LS Join Launcher Web Service errors (id 64008) on my Front-end servers (LHPv2) and online meetings stopped working. I have reinstalled Web components, but it didn't
help. Any ideas?
An exception was encountered when sending Conference Error Report.
Conference Error Report + Exception Details. CER = Machine:SERVERNAMEBrowserId:Join
attempted at(UTC):12/10/2013 6:28:13 AMError: request context was lostException = System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.JoinLauncher.JoinLauncherTelemetryProxy.SendCERReport(JoinLauncherAsyncContext asyncContext)
Cause: Failed to report Conference Error Report. Please look through the exception details for more information.
Resolution:
Please check if the Data collection agent is running fine & Storage Service is accepting connections

Process I followed on my FE servers:
1. stop-cswindowsservice
2. net stop w3svc
3. unistalled Web Components and URL-Rewrite
4. rebooted FE server
5. run Bootstrapper and install Web
Components and URL-rewrite module
6. run LyncserverUpdateInstaller.exe
from LHPv2 ISO image and install recent updates for Web Components.
7. one more reboot
Now, Lync Online Meetings are working,
but LS Join Launcher error 64008 is still there, repeating every 15-20 seconds on every FE servers(I have five)
I tried Lync Server 2013 Logging Tool
on one of my FE servers and I found these additional errors:

Error: Unable to read footer file

Hoping someone out there can help me. I get this error on
everypage in my site and have no idea how to stop it.
Error: Unable to read footer file
The error does not show up when I preview inside dreamweaver
but only rears its ugly head after I post the site up on the
internet. I have searched for hours through the Dreamweaver menus
and can not find these elusive footers and have no idea where they
are coming from or what footer file it is trying to read.. Please
help. This probably has a simple solution and I am just not able to
understand it. Thank you.

Possibly, but without a URL we can't comment. Post it, and
we'll see.
At a guess, sounds like an include file is missing. Are you
on some sort of
free hosting plan where the host puts some adverts in the
footer? If that
file is removed from your site directory you might get the
error you've
mentioned (at least, that was the case on the only other time
I've seen this
error)

SAP Web Service error text : The database returned a value containing an error , type CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB

Hello Guru's,
we are creating sales order in SAP from a quote created in .NET, through Web Service created in SAP, and consumed in .NET.
When ever a order is created in SAP for a given quote, SAP returns the sales order number to .NET.
Orders are getting created as expected, but once in a while we are getting the following error from webservice :
Web service processing error; more details in the web service error log on provider side (UTC timestamp 20140609173429; Transaction ID 4DFCEFE33301F1EBB5CE00155D0B4530)
But the problem is order is getting created in SAP for the perticular quote for which we are getting the above error and this order number is not getting returned to .NET.
Upon analysis in TCODE SRT_UTIL for the above transaction ID, has the following details , which are hardly help full to resolve the error.

I am personalizing the assignment form, where we need to restrict the JOB LOV based on Organization value.
In Forms Personalization we are creating the record group from query and attaching to Job field.

When we use this query, we are getting the error "frm-40502: oracle error: unable to read list of values"
If i replace the bind variable with values we are not getting the error and its working fine.
Replace query:
SELECT DISTINCT j.NAME, DECODE (1, 2, 1, NULL) c_valid_job_flag,
j.job_id job_id
FROM per_jobs_v j
WHERE j.business_group_id + 0 = 202
AND j.date_from <= TRUNC(SYSDATE)
AND ( (j.date_to IS NULL)
OR (j.date_to >= TRUNC(SYSDATE))
ORDER BY j.NAME
how to use bind variables (Block.field) here? We are getting this error only when using the bind variable in the query.
Please share your ideas.

What is your EBS version? There are 96 docs avaliable about similar error message. I suggest use metalink for your issue

Forms Personalization - FRM-40502: ORACLE error: unable to read list of val

Hi,
I am using Forms Personalization to create an LOV using builtin. In the Builtin, I have put the sql query under create record group from query. In the query, when I hardcode a value, in a where condition, the LOV works fine but when I replace the hardcoded value with :block.field value, it gives the error, FRM-40502: ORACLE error: unable to read list of values. Below is the part of the sql query where I am facing this issue.
"WHERE related_customer_id = :ORDER.INVOICE_TO_CUSTOMER_ID"
Please get back to me if anyone has faced similar problem.

Help! Content generation error. [Error: Unable to read JPEG.]

Hey all -
Havben't seen this one in the forums. I'm importing an article into an existing folio. The processing status bar goes to the end, but before upload starts, I get this error:
Content generation error.
[Error: Unable to read JPEG.]
Any idea how to troubleshoot this? I'm up against a hard deadline and really need to get this worked out. Thanks!

In that case it would be good, if the error message could be more specific; i.e. telling the name(s) of the JPEG images.
However, you could check all placed JPEG images, if they can be opened with PhotoShop.

External USB boot: "fs error - unable to read inode" occurs eventually

[ISSUE: on ONE PC only: ALL external USB drives eventually give console readout like: "fs error - unable to read inode" - endlessly , and no longer accessible.]
I am BOOTING off of the drives in question [ext2 formatted] which may be a large part of it though perhaps not.
PC spec:
- Older motherboard ASUS p4pe.
- has USB 2 though probably a bit iffy.
- Does NOT boot from USB so using the briilliant PloP bootmanager on CD to achieve external USB boot.
Of interest was comments found about the : the ehci_hcd module
which seems very likely that the motherboard I'm having problems with is because of the USB implimentation and this.
REALLY could use a fix for this one. At least, I need to understand what's happening.
OR:
I found this on the Ubuntu forum and was hoping it would be the FIX and that I could get a comment about how to try on my beloved ARCH systems.

I solved this 7-8 months ago and haven't had any problems since.
Create a executable file for example /usb/bin/usbhdfix and place the following in it.

1024 works for me but I've also heard about people going lower than default with good results.
I have a Seagate FreeAgent which also have the problem with restarting after spinning down so solution for that is added as well.
Then create a udev-rule.

You can also pass other options to mount: (in this example drive is ext3)
mount -t ext3 -o user,rw,async /dev/sdX /mnt/mountpoint
check man mount for all the details.
