OBIA 7.9.5 to 7.9.6 upgrade - anyone done this?

Has anyone here done, or is doing, an OBIA 7.9.5 to 7.9.6 upgrade?
We're about to begin a project to do this, and I'm interested in any experiences or problems encountered etc.
cheers.

We're in the middle of an upgrade from 7.9.5 to 7.9.6 here. The only portion we rolled out in 7.9.5 is Human Resources. The 7.9.6 version has additional functionality for Human Resources (I-Recruitment, Learning, etc). Also projects is new to my understanding.
Please note that if you have implemented 7.9.5 Human Resources the upgrade to 7.9.6 can be a pretty intense process. The changes in regards to Human Resources were significant to say the least.
Best of luck!

  • Report & Mail Merge

    Hi All
I've a requirement to send a mail with Overdue Invoices for each customer. It must have a text section followed by a table with all the overdue invoices.
We've developed a Overdue Invoices Report in Answers, but couldn't find the way to break it, do the mail merge and send it to the customers that are not OBI users.
We're using the SA system subject area to store the mails of the customers.
    Has anyone done this before?
Sorry for the basic question but I'm new on OBI.
    Thanks in advance.

You need to have two reports (one for the output to be sent) and another for the recipients list.
Venkat's post below should give you idea of what you need to do (Doesn't sound like you need SA subject area, but you can decide that for yourself.

  • Web Service to retrieve report

I am trying to use the web services to retrieve a report's metadata, in particular the report filters. I can't find in the documentation the right classes/methods to use.
In Jdeveloper, I have set up web service proxy for the WEBCatalogService, as well as SAWSession...
Has anyone done this, and if so, could you provide any examples?
    This is on OBIEE 11g.
    thanks in advance!

  • Marketing execution over the top of ORDM ?

We are implementing ORDM here for its MIS/BI capabilities and have noted that most of the Data Mining and Analytics that the Marketing team use in their own tool (Alterian) exist within BI (segment analysis / basket analysis / promotion analysis etc).
What is missing from the ORDM / OBI EE stack that we have is some form of Marketing campaign execution / management layer (Mailings/email shots etc) and I am wondering if the Oracle (Peoplesoft!?) module can be run on the ORDM to integrate with the work we are doing at present and therefore replace the current Marketing toolset going forwards?
Anyone done this or got any ideas / comments ?
    Cheers
    Matt

Hi ,thanks for the replies both.
The Oracle Marketing I refer to is a bit of the E-business suite (sorry- the Peoplesoft association seems to have been wrong):
    http://www.oracle.com/applications/marketing/marketing.html
    http://www.oracle.com/applications/marketing/oracle-marketing-data-sheet.pdf
As it stands in our company we have a diverse range of Data Stores (Sybase, Oracle, SQL etc) in the operational space and are trying to implement one source of truth for BI data, replacing an existing MIS system: hence using the ORDM. We will be copying as much operational data from the source systems as is relevant to make the ORDM work effectively, however I still have a couple of other systems I am trying to get aligned. One is Marketing and one is the MDM that holds the "truth" on our customer data. In theory I could use the ORDM as the customer MDM, but Marketing are using Altarian which would need an extract from MDM and one from either the ORDM or the relvant Operational stores. As the ORDM will actually hold all of the Customer / Product / Basket / History data that Marketing would use then they could quite happily do their analytics in OBI EE on top of it, however clearly there is no functionality for email or mail campains etc.
So whilst I would potentially like to implement Oracle Marketing, i don't want to have to create a whole new schema for it to run on and fill it with data when I have nearly all the data it needs in the ORDM (I would be no better off than I am with Alterian now). I am most happy to Extend the ORDM a bit to include Execution specific tools, I just don't want to have two databases packed full of all the Sales and Product data.
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • Integrate EPMSystem11R1 with OBIEE 11.1.1.3

    Hi Guys,
We want to integrate the Hyperion EPM 11R1 with OBIEE 11g with SSO? basically when user should be able to run a OBIEE report from Hyperion seamlessly without entering username passwords in OBIEE. has anyone done this or any documents?
    Thanks

    Neal,
This is supposed to be one of the big fixes in OBI 11g (11.1.1.6), so if possible I would wait until that gets released this year.
Otherwise if your organization is using SSO across its applications the log in won't matter if you have SSO enabled on both the EPM and OBI applications.
Remember, also , that you now have the OBI action framework which can potentially have you open an HFR report from OBI without passing credentials

  • Error while running OBIA configuration configApps.bat

I am receiving error while running configapps.bat.
I have the following wnvironment installed:
    64 Bit windows
    Java 6 (JDK1.6.x)
Weblogic server 10.3.6 in software only mode
Ran OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 RCU utility to create BIPLATFORM and MDS schemas.

    Applied FMW Platform Patches
Updated BIACOMP Schema with ATGLite patch scripts
Everything was up and running until now, when i try to configure OBIA via running configApps.bat, it is getting stuck at ODI configuration.

  • Steps to upgrade OBIA source EBS 11 to R12

    Hi,
We have a specific requirement that our EBS source got upgraded from 11.5.10 to R12.
Earlier OBIA Financial,HR Analytics is running successfully. Now we need to map it to R12 source.
Can any one had done this already please suggest required steps.
In my openion  changing folders in DAC to point to R12 adaptors and changing files with latest R12 data would work.
Fyi..We haven't done any customizations in the OOB adaptor.
    Thanks in advance.

You will need to install 11.2.0.4 into a new ORACLE_HOME, apply the latest 11.2.0.4 PSU patch to the new ORACLE_HOME (see MOS Doc 1454618.1) and then follow the steps in the Upgrade Guide

  • Obi 11g row level security not working

    All,
I am very familiar and have worked with obi 10g row level security and it works pretty easily. Now in 11g not so easy. I am basically setting permissions on data filters on app roles as per the new 11g instructions and meta data guide, however, I never see the filters being applied in the report and also in the nqquery.log. I have tried in vain, and nothing. The filters are never being applied for the test user. I even verified the user is in the specified app role via their my account->app roles tab. Now has anyone had this experience or now is there something that must be done additionally now.
    Very frustrated... ;(

Ok, so I have found the solution and ultimately the answer to why the object level and row level security was not being applied. It so happens that the app policy: 'resourceType=oracle.bi.server.permission, resourceName=oracle.bi.server.manageRepositories all' not only allows the management and access to online RPDs; but, IT ALSO DOES NOT APPLY SECURITY/PERMISSIONS IN THE RPD TO THAT USER thus you are super user. So the OOTB BIAdministrator app role which my AD user was being assigned never had any security applied due to this. How I tested:
    1) I created a test user
    2) Assigned that user to the BIAuthor app role and saw that they had the security applied that I was testing, which was simple object denial and row-level security to just one year on the date dim.
    3) Since it was working, I then assigned that user to the BIAdministrator role. This produced that the test user now does not have any restrictions that I set and that were working before. Thus, security/perms in the RPD are not applied.
4). I removed the user from the BIAdministrator app role, kept in the BIAuthor app role and then created new test app role. I mapped that user to this new role along with the BIAuthor role. I then proceeded in creating new app policy with just that policy and assigning the new app role to it.
    5) I logged into the presentation services again with this test user after assigning to new app role and policy. My test user again does not have the security being applied and does not get any perms/security that I set and applied in the RPD. On top of that my test user is now able to login in online mode to the rpd via the bi admin tool.

  • Configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 When Using Universal Adapter Exclusively

    Hello experts,
I have been working for a few days in trying to configure a fiscal calendar with universal adapter flat files as the only data source because Great Plains is the data source and since Oracle does not support it, we use universal adapters. We have had limited success with this but in configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 and doing normal configuration things such as configuring fiscal calendars and mapping GL accounts to group accounts using the Universal Adapter in DAC, there is virtually no documentation. In fact, when I Googled the universal adapter version of the group account codes file, there were 0 Google entries for it.
I am sending this new thread in the hope that someone out there has successfully configured OBI apps 7.9.6.3 using the Universal Adapter and can point me to documentation of any sort other than the normal Oracle OBI Apps Config Doc which only briefly mentions it and then takes file examples that are OOTB and unconfigured in any way.
Specifically, I need assistance in getting fiscal calendars working with the Universal Adapter. I have W_MCAL_DAY_D populated and all of the Gregorian calendar tables. However, the remaining W_MCAL* tables only have one row in each of them. I have an SR open about it but no success resolving it yet. While doing the configuration work, we tried to map GL accounts to group accounts but there is no account range in the Universal Adapter source file unlike the Oracle EBS version so I am unsure on how to configure group accounts. Oracle documentation only refers to Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, and JDEdwards. I am unable to find anything regarding the Universal Adapter.
If anyone has done this sort of OBI apps configuration before, please respond or send me URLs for related documentation. I am completely stuck and SRs are not yet helping so I thought I would try this.
Thanks experts and looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Krish,
You will have to create 20 Application Roles matching the Responsibility Names.
Use one of the following methods to set up application roles:
Create application roles in the policy store with the same names as existing responsibilities or groups in the source applications. Then, add the new application roles as members of Oracle BI-specific application roles groups, and the users will inherit this membership based on their own responsibilities or roles in the OLTP application.
Add new Oracle BI-specific responsibilities (Oracle EBS and Siebel CRM Applications) or roles (PeopleSoft Enterprise applications) in the source applications, making sure their names match the object security application roles in Oracle BI Applications, and assign OLTP users to these new groups. The users will then inherit the application role membership in the same way as described in the preceding method.
Application Roles in 11g are the Groups of 10g (http://blogs.oracle.com/robreynolds/entry/security_in_obiee_11g_part_2)

  • OBI to Essbase Connectivity Problems

We are trying to connect OBI 11.1.1.5 to Essbase 11.1.1.3. We are able to import essbase cubes into the rpd, and even view the members of those cubes while the rpd is in offline mode. When the bi server is brought back up however, every query we run against the new subject results in:
    View Display Error
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 96001] Essbase Error (HY000)
This error is hardly specific enough (yes I have checked the manuals) for us to troubleshoot the issue. In addition this rather large problem we did notice that we are unable to view the members of the essbase cubes in the rpd when the rpd is opened in online mode. Is this significant? Our OBI install is pointing to an 11.1.1.5 essbase client file - is this also a problem (since the client file is newer than the version of essbase that we are running)?
We have tried everything we can think of to get this to work. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
We are facing the same issue, just that our OBI version is 11.1.1.6.2 (BP1 patch applied) fetching cube from Essbase 11.1.1.2.1. I tried many approaches but none of them worked.
Were you able to address this issue? If yes could you pls give us any pointer.
Any help on this is highly appreciated, since we have go-live in few days.
Problem in nutshell: Am able to import the cube from in offline & even in online mode. But able to see data only in offline mode but not in the online mode.
In Online mode, am trying to connect to the rpd hosted on IBM AIX 64 bit mode OS, where as in offline mode, am accessing the local rpd.

  • Migrating from Cognos ReportNet to OBI EE

    Hi all.
Has anyone done a migration from Cognos ReportNet to OBI EE?
I'm tiring to determine what task need to be performed, what can be leveraged from ReportNet as it pertains to reports and models, etc.
Any feedback and/or real world experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi
I really don't think there is much you can leverage as they're on totally different systems. If you've already got Cognos why would you want to throw all that investment away and go with BI EE?
This is especially true when in a different posting you say the functionality is the same. You must have a lot of money available to you :-)
    Best wishes

  • OBI Security.

    Hi,
I would like to know more about OBI EE authentication using an external table and data authorisation (access to specific data).
I have a dimensional model and I want to implement security based on Team dimension. This dimension has three levels - 'All Teams', 'Team' and 'Sales Person'. I could successfully implement the OBI EE security using the Built In option. So, I created Users (Sales Persons) and Groups (Teams), defined the filters and could log in as a Group or User and could see only the data pertaining to that Group or User.
Now, I am trying the Authentication using External Table. As per the manual I have followed the steps. Before that I took a backup of the the repository that was working as mentioned above. Once configured, I deleted all the Groups and Users mentioned above from Security. Now, I can log in successfully, however, it shows me all the data (all teams and users) in Answers. I have joined the external table to the Team dimension (thinking that this may work). So data authorisation / access is failing. Where could I be wrong?
    Please let me know. Thanks.
    Manoj.

Sorry Stijn, I was not clear. I see the difference between the object level and the data level security.
I do not want to implement the object level security. All sales people and their team managers should see the presentation layer objects created in the repository. What I want is restrictions on data. For example, when SP1 (Sales person 1) logs in then he/she should be able to see only his/her sales data. If SP1's manager logs in then the manager (basically a group name and associated with Team level) should be able to see the sales data of all of his/her team members.
As I mentioned I have successfully done this using the OBI EE "Built In" option. So I created Users and Groups and defined filters in the repository. My Business Model filter is, eg, Team.Team = 'Roma' for the team 'Roma'. For the user belonging to the group, the BM filter is Team.Sales_Person = VALUEOF (NQ_SESSION."DISPLAYNAME").
Now I am trying "External Table Authentication" option. I am able to log in as SP1 but I see data of all the teams and their team members. I have defined one Initialisaton block and have USER, GROUP, DISPLAYNAME and LOGLEVEL varibales defined. I have deleted all the Groups and Users in the repository and may be this is wrong and I still need them (to implement the data level security). Is this correct? My basic question is : if I have implemented External Table Authentication (and I assume that it means "deciding who can log in" - only), how do I achieve data level security based on Team dimension as the data level security revolves around this dimension. Do I still need to create users and groups in the OBI EE repository?
    Thanks,
    Manoj.

  • How to initialize apps session in OBI

    Hi,
Can anyone please tell me how to set apps initialize session in OBIEE.
I am creating an OBI report which has calculation in Answers and I am doing this through EVALUATE function and for some calculation I need to set apps initialize session as the calculation contains pkg.function which is in Oracle apps database.
I need to initialize the below thing in OBIEE
    BEGIN
    mo_global.init('PO');
    mo_global.set_policy_context('S',825);
    END;
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Titas

    Hi Titas,
You could make use of 'Connection Pool' -> Connection Scripts tab for initializing the session before/after/on connect / on disconnect as per your requirements.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • OBIA 7.9.6 and procurement & spend analytics

    Hi,
I have a doubt on OBIA 7.9.6 application.
My OLTP source is JD Edwards.
They bought Financial analytics, procurement and spend analytics. As we knew that financial anlytics come with prefixed star schema, informatica mappings and DAC settings.
They also wanted to implement procurement and spend analytics. My question is whether we need to develop a customised data model or Oracle would provide the data model, then our job is to map with OLTP?.
I am not sure on this. If anyone knew this how to proceed on this, pls let me know.
    Thanks

    Ahmed,
if you dont want to edit any mapping, then you can populate the data into some un-used column in the ETL and change the name of the column in RPD.
Though this is not a good approach, but you can try this.
