OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 Patch13832750 - Pie Chart 3D issue

Hi,
Since i apply the patch 13832750 I have an issue with 3D Pie chart.
The chart is malformed, there are lines which fall outside the graph..
I uninstalled the patch but the issue persists.
Have you already see this problem?
Thanks,
Adrien

Haven't seen this issue, but I may be able to help with two suggestions:
1. NEVER use pie charts, they don't display information well
2. Never add 3d clutter to any type of chart, it only makes the chart more difficult to process and understand
Great source for information on this is Stephen Few at http://perceptualedge.com
Hope this helps,
Scott

  • Crystal 2008 Pie Chart Display Issues

    Hello all,
I am having some problems with the Crystal Viewer displaying charts and legends. Basically, what is going on is, I have a report that displays a pie chart and legend containing data on departments within a store. I have 39 departments that need to show in the chart/legend, but only about 33 show up on the chart and 24 show up in the legend. Does anyone have any ideas if this is a limitation of the chart or anything?
    TIA
    -Coty

There is no limitations for  pie chart and legend.   maximise the chart through edge draging.it shows all(increase the chart size)...
    All the best,

  • Excel 2007 pie chart conversion issue

I'm having issues converting my Excel 2007 spreadsheet that contains several pie charts into pdf. It will convert fine for everything but the pie charts. Their edges or outlines look perfect in Excel and the print preview, but once converted to pdf they're all choppy and rough looking. How can I fix this, as it makes the pdf look very unprofessional. I'm on Vista with all the latest updated, use office 2007 with all updates installed and adobe acrobat 8 with all the updates. I tried converting it through the acrobat feature in excel, as well as the print to pdf option. I even went so far to reinstall office 2003, with the same result. the pies were looking a bit smoother, but still way too choppy. how can i get adobe to convert perfect circular pie charts?
    thanks!

From the ribbon>Acrobat>Create PDF.  This gives me the ability to choose which tabs I want to include in the report.
I made PDF Printer my default and it worked!  Thanks!
Why do you think my ribbon function doesn't work?

Never heard of Axis in a pie chart. What exactly are you trying to change?

  • OBIEE 11g pie chart showing the slices by different measures

    Hi,
We are using OBIEE 11g. We have a requirement to show PO Met Count , PO Under Count, PO Over Count as a slices in a pie chart. However Pie graph in 11 g is slicing only by a dimension and not by the above measures. This was possible in 10g. I want to know if this a limitation in 11g or is there a way around this.

    HI,
I tried to slice by measure by dragging the column to slice size section. I have 3 metrics PO Under Count and PO Over Count which add up to total PO count. So I want my pie to ahve 2 slices one for PO Under Count and other for PO Over count. However when I drag the 2 metrics, it shows me 2 pies, one for Over and the other for Under count.

  • "Pie chart in pivot view  showing only the first column's results" in obiee

    Hi,
In my pivot view(pie chart view+pivottable),i'm getting only the first column's result in pie chart..
I have added a column named *'A*' in rows and '*moneyspent*' in measuresfield and the '*period*' in the columnsfield in the pivot view.I'm calculating the sum of
    the rows and columns..
I'm not getting the sum valueof moneyspent in the pie chart..instead i'm getting only the first column of period in the pivot table in the pie chart.
can anyone tell how can i get the sum value of pivot table in pie chart?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Prash,
let me try to give you an example based on the paint sample:
    Use Markets.Region, Products.Brand, 'Sales Measures'.Units
choose a pivot view to display the result: region goes into the rows-section, Brand goes into the columns-section and Units into the measures-section
In the columns-section add a total using the 'add total' at 'Measure Labels' level
the result is a total column on the right side of the pivot.
    looking like this:
    Units
    Brands
Region Enterprise Magicolor Mccloskey Valspar Units Total
    Central 1032.....
    Eastern 1485......
    Southern 824.....
    Western 580
What I am looking for is a new column 'Units Total pct'.
If I duplicate the measure to show the values in percent, I'll get a second column per Brand (showing the absolute and percentage values) - that's what I don't want

  • Drill does not work for pie chart in OBIEE 10.1.3.4

Request has a table and a pie chart. Dimension has 7-level hierarchy. Request has column from top level of dimension.
Table can drill down all 7 levels. Pie chart drills down two levels; third attempt to drill on chart brings back first level in both chart and table.
Anyone else experience this? I can find no bug report, but I have not been very successful at finding known bugs in MetaLink.

Well, by Total - I mean next-to-total. Don't worry about it. I just wanted to make sure your hierarchy had no problems.
Here's what I've done (remember my version is different). I've selected Drill-In-Place in Dashboard properties (unless I do that - it goes to table view after drill). Then I've clicked in an area on pie chart. After this, I wasn't able to drill further down, until I went to another Dashboard page and back (previous drill level was still there) and then drilled again. Rinse and repeat. Browser - IE 7. I'm going to test it in Firefox now.
UPD: Firefox has no problem drilling through 4 levels of pie-chart. I guess the problem is IE's slow and buggy JS implementation.

  • Pie chart to a tabular report

I have develop a pie chart for Category Sales. If i click on one of the pie (Category) it should open a tabular report where it shows the sale of products in that category. How can i implement this in OBIEE dashboard?

    Hi,
For your senario you can use Master Detail event feture to implement your solutions.
Master-detail linking of views allows you to establish a relationship between two or more views such that one view, called the master view, will drive data changes in one or more other views, called detail views.
    More detail refer below linke;

  • Problems with pie chart formatting - APEX v2

Hi - I have created a region with an SVG Pie Chart and set the CSS to display the three segments as red, yellow and green using one of the examples from a previous forum posting. That all works fine, but I still have two issues with the chart:-
    - the legend is displaying too big and is overlapping the right hand region border which looks messy. Is there anyway to force the size of the legend as there is lots of blank space to the right of the labels/values?. If not, is there any way to get the legend to display at the bottom of the area rather than to the side of the chart?
    - the pie chart is 3D but the colours are only displaying on the side, not the top. Is there something I need to set to get this to work OK? Current CSS included below.

    hi Kishore,
For this we have to change the .pcxml file for the pie chart .This is the path
    \OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin\pie.pcxml

  • Pie chart

In Obiee 11g Pie chart based on hierarchy , once click on the pie chart it is going to next level , but if there is no result for the next level it has to be constant(no drill need's to happens) instead of that it displays like "Maching results not found " ,
but i need no drill at that level and dont required the messege like "Maching results not found ".
    how to over come this.
    Thanks

This is OBIEE OOTB functionality. No matter if the data is thr or not...The drill functionality will work till the level where there is no data or till the last level...whichever condition is satisfied first.
    Hope this is useful...

  • Labels in Pie Charts

    Hi,
I have two questions about the behavior of labels in pie charts:
    Question 1:
When I format pie chart labels as 'NameandValue', the result in the label pie chart always appears as 'Value' and then 'Name', how can I change this?
    Question 2:
I have several pie charts, that overlap labels, how can I customize charts in order for that never to occur?

In order to achieve that you will need to change the pcxml files controlling the pie chart (since the chart is actually produced by the Corda engine)
    They are in
    \\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin
    and for oc4j in:
    \\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\popbin
I don't have all the variables available off the top of my head, but John posted a quite exhaustive list:

  • Problem with wedge in Pie chart

    Hi all,
i'm having a Pie chart which has some four or five sections. By using wedge option i'm able to cut out a single piece from the whole chart. But my requirement is i need to show all pieces individually. Is it possible? Please help me in this.
    Kind regards,
    karthick

    Hi Karthick,
it is not impossible, but it is not very easy to accomplish this. First of all, the chart engine (Corda PopChart) is bounded by OBIEE. What I mean is that OBIEE doesn't use the full functionality of the chart engine, so when you want to customize the chart, beyond the functionality OBIEE uses, then there is no other option then to edit the PopChart XML files (.pcxml). In ..\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\popbin\ and ..\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\popbin you can find pie.pcxml which defines the pie chart.
About your problem: you want to explode all wedges in your pie chart. According to the Corda documentation you can only explode one wedge, but it is possible to create a pie chart with gaps between all wedges and you can also set the size of the gap. So by setting these parameters I guess you can get what you want.
Example: You need to add ShowPieGap='True' to this line in the .pcxml.
<Properties Effect='2D' EffectPercentX='10' EffectPercentY='60' OutlineType='Darker' ShowPieGap='True'/>I also recommend you to read John's experiences with editing PCXML of Corda:

  • Pie Chart Slice Label Percentage + Label

    Hi,
i'm newbie of Publisher 11. I've a problem. I've created a DataSet and a report containing a pie chart using wizard of Publisher as written at following link:
    http://allaboutobiee.blogspot.it/2012/04/working-with-bi-publisher-11g-part3.html
My chart shows near each slice the percentage value, but it should show the percentage value + corresponding legend text. I've changed all chart properties on left side of window, but it doesn't work. I read that i must set the value LD_PERCENT_TEXT. But where????? How can i modify XML? I must export the report in OBIEE to have more functionalities? Can you explain me what to do step by step because it's the first time i use Publisher 11
    Thanks
    Giancarlo

do paste this in the alt text of the chart ,
Right click the picture , select format picture and go to alt text tab.
paste this in between the graph element and not at the end or beginning.
    <SliceLabel visible="true">
    <ViewFormat decimalDigit="1" decimalSeparator="." decimalDigitUsed="true" decimalSeparatorUsed="true"/>
    </SliceLabel>

  • Pie Chart slice breakup

    Hi Experts,
I am having a requirement in OBIEE 11g of showing data as Percentage in a Pie Chart, the chart will be be having two slices(SLICE 1, SLICE 2).
And the SLICE 1 breakdown needs to be displayed as STACKED BAR CHART.the bar chart should also show data as percentage.
I am using a common measure for both the charts, in PIE CHART i have shown the measure count as Percentage,But in Staked bar chart i am not able to show the data in percentage.
A SLICECODE column i am using for the SLICE 1 and SLICE 2 breakup in the PIE CHART, and in the BAR CHART i am showing only SLICE 1 data by placing the SLICECODE column in the Section, and set the "Maximum number of section slider values" as 1 in the section properties
.Plz suggest me how to show the data as percentage in the bar chart
