OBIEE 11g Analysis : Change Report edit link to go Criteria tab instead

How to change the setting to have the "Edit" to go to criteria tab instead of Results (Compond view)?
Many time we may need to change the filter from default setting and then run the report or if the filter is setup to be used from a dashboard (using "Prompted") option...then the report attmpts to run the report without values...
And I have not checked to see if the server cancels the query to the database when the user navigates to the Critetia Page as there is no cancel link...(as it displayed in 10g...)
FYI, We have just started using OBIEE 11g in a dev environment, we are in the process of configuring the new env to get ready for prod...

Hi,
By default, the Action request is sent to results tab. You can modify it by editing the dashboardeditor.js file found in /app/res/b_mozilla/dashboards folder.
Steps:
1) Open dashboardeditor.js file.
2) Search for the function "DUIModifyReport".
3) Inside the function you will find that ***"&Action=results&Path="****
4) Change results to criteria. In other words, the changed code will look like
****"&Action=criteria&Path="*****
5) Re-deploy the code and bounce the services.
-- Remember, this will affect for entire dashboard, and for all users. ---
If you want to avoid step (5), then manually copy the changed dashboardeditor.js to /user_projects/domains/BIfoundation/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/analytics_11.1.1/$RANDOMFOLDERNAME$/war/res/b_mozilla/dashboards and bounce the services.
Voila - now when you edit the analysis through dashboard, it will take you to the criteria tab, instead of results tab.

Need 'Edit' on 11g report to link to Criteria Tab instead of Results Tab

In Answers 10g, a user had the option to 'Modify Criteria' when editing a saved Answers Report. Now, in Answers 11g, when a user clicks 'Edit', it first runs the report (sending off the logical sql to the bi server immediately) and then you have to switch the results tab - the report is run immediately upon opening.
I am currently using Noetix Views on top of Answers for a transactional db and we are running into major CPU issues (I run a report with a single view and CPU climbs to 100% or crashes the db all together). I need to be able to edit filters, columns, etc in the criteria tab without running the report in my Answers 11g. What I am doing now is clicking 'edit' and quickly switching to the 'results' tab hoping that maybe I can beat the logical sql on its way to the bi server (but never do).
Is there any way to have the 'Edit' option link directly to the Criteria tab without sending the sql off to the bi server?

I wasn't able to find a setting within OBI 11g that would control this functionality. However, I did find a javascript tweak that accomplishes the effect you want.
I'm going to assume a Windows-based OBI system, but the file paths should be similar for *nix as well. There are two javascript files that contain links to the Analysis editor. One controls the "Edit" link in Catalog Manager and the other controls the "Edit Analysis" menu item in the Dashboard editor. You probably want to modify both.

1. Make a backup copy of each original file.
2. Open the javascript file in a text editor.
3. Search the text file for the string "&Action=results" and replace all instances with "&Action=criteria".
4. Save the file.
5. Clear your browser cache and try the "Edit" link again.
I highly doubt Oracle will support this modification. You may need to reapply the changes after an Oracle patch, but it should help with your performance issues.

The order detail will have multiple lines, I have to do this in both Excel and PDF, is it possible to do without Publisher, and just OBIEE 11G? If so please help on how to do it?

You can have static text or narrative view to achieve the customer details.
And use the table format for the order details.
And give reports links where in, you can download to both excel and pdf.

OBIEE 11g - APEX Integration through Action links

Hi All,
We are trying to achieve SSO between OBI and APEX. We got this working by the below process.
1. Integrate OBI domain with AD
2. Integrate APEX with the same AD ( Perform standalone configuration)
3. Create Action Link in OBI pointing to APEX form
4. Accessing Action Link does not prompt the credentials
5. APEX form opens up in a separate tab in browser
We checked this by logging into OBI using an AD ID and jumping to APEX from there through action link. However the user context is not getting carried forward to APEX. For example if we login as "d123456" AD user in OBI, when we access APEX form the user name is appearing as "NO BODY" at the top right corner. We have a use case where in we want to capture the ID who is accessing the APEX form. The field is updated as NOBODY.
But if we login to APEX stand alone URL, then the actual AD user name can be seen on APEX pages.
Can some one help on how to carry forward the user context from OBI to APEX.

OBIEE 11g - Analysis & Administration Tool questions

Dear Experts,
I have two question in OBIEE 11g version 11.1.1.5.0:
1. How can we display timezone in the analysis result, we have formatted the mask "MM_DD_YYYY hh:mm:ss tt z" but the "z" does not apply, it display character "z" in our result.
2. Can we create Hierarchy Dimension from one more tables ? Example that we have TimeDimension and LocationDimension, we want to create only on Hierarchy Dimension included two both Time and Location dimension.

Obiee 11g Publisher Bursting Report error

I am using Obiee 11g (ver. 11.1.1.3.0) and trying to achieve report bursting. I have created Data model and Report. Report is showing result but once I schedule report by bursting to file,
1. I am getting error (ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected).
2. where I can get bursting fail log?

OBIEE 11G - Navigation:How to open in New page/new tab.

When I click on a link in report it opens another report on the same page. Instead I have to open the report in a new page/new tab. Is this feature available in obiee 11g version? If yes, could you please tell me how to make it possible?

Use Action Link...to open link in New Window
1.Go to edit Dashboard...
2.Select Action Link from Dashboard Objects.
3.Click the Action Link Properties and Type your Report Name in Link Text Box.
4.Select New Action Button and Go to Navigate to BI Content
5.Choose your Report from your path and click ok button
6.Enable Open Link in New Window(IMP) and click ok.
7.save and check your dashboard page...

OBIEE 11G and Custom Reports

I went to a presentation the other day on the new 11G. One of the things they said was that if you have custom reports and custom subject areas, you will have to recreate them after you upgrade. The upgrade is supposed to wipe them out. I'm hoping I misunderstood.
We keep all of our custom reports and dashboards in a folder in the catalog seperate from the out of the box dashboards.
We have created new subject areas with our own naming standard seperate from the out of the box subject areas.
When we upgrade, am I really going to lose all of the work we have already done? Will my dashboards go away? Will my reports disappear? Can I import them back somehow?

But I'm still not sure if my custom reports are going to be upgraded too or if they will get deleted.Reports will not get deleted but some reports may not work properly....Lot of testing is to be done....

We cannot expect all the reports to start working out of the box immediately after an upgrade. Good amount of testing is required to make sure all the older queries of the most commonly used reports are working without any major issues. Also, not all the reports would get migrated seamlessly due to the significant changes across the versions which the utility cannot recognize.

Date format in OBIEE 11g is changed.

we have installed 11.1.1.5 on linux x86-64bit machine. after that we upgraded the OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 rpd and catalog to OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
everything was working fine at this stage.
After that we did some development in 10g ... and again upgraded the rpd and catalog to 11.1.1.5 using upgrade assistant.
but after that the date format in all the date prompts on the dashboards is changed to MM/dd/YYYY.
How to change it back to dd/MM/YYYY?

2. After installation the date format default : DD-MM-YYYY.
I am not sure, I think you need install patch file in this version on your server or you need to change ALTER SESSION set NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD/MM/YYYY'.
I though this is bug in server version.
What server its showing this format means(Unix,Linux,AIX)?

How can I control it so the order detail shows only the detail record of the customer associated. Also how do I go to the second record and so forth. Please help. 1) Build a dashboard prompt for Customer Number. and save to a PV.
2) Build a report with all the columns for customer and order (in Criteria View) with a filter for the PV to capture the dashboard prompt.
3) Build a pivot table with Customer Number and Customer Name in the Rows section. Put the Customer Address in the Measures section and change the Aggregation Rule to Max.
This will serve as the summary table showing only the information of the customer selected.
2) Build Pivot Table:2 with the Order details.
3) In the Compound Layout, put Pivot table one on the top and Pivot Table:2 below it.
When a customer is selected, you will have the customer data with the order details under it for that customer only.

Function Calendar not working in OBIEE 11G - Analysis

This code works in 10.1.3 but not in OBIEE 11.1.1, Please let me know the correct code.
Error: Query Failed: [nQSError: 22025] Function Calendar Extract is called with an incompatible type
case when "- Calendar"."Year" = YEAR('@{var_date}{2012-11-05}') then 'Current' Else 'Prior' end

Check the data type of the column being used to populate the variable. The Year Function works fine. I suspect the data type is not date. If you don't have date columns in your database and are creating one (ex., using MM, DD, YYYY columns explicitly)then check the default date format in your environment either double click the physical database folder -> features or in your NQSconfig. it should be in date data type.

Obiee 11g . problem with set default as columnname in interaction tab

I have small problem with set default option in interaction tab in column properties. actually my problem is , i changed one column bold save as set default option bold and how to revert back to my column option. when i create new analysis with same name . it takes set default option for that column.

Prompt to Report navigation - OBIEE 11g

Hello,
I've three tables (3 different requests) to be displayed in a page. Each of these tables has one identical column eg. project_name (but from different database tables).
My requirement :
1.I should have only one prompt to select the project_name at the first page
2.Only after selecting the project_name, the page should navigate to another page which displays all the three tables
Kindly let me know how can I get the prompt to report navigation done.

Hi ,
Only after selecting the prompt you have to show the reports means use the guided navigation.
Only after selectiing the Project_name , you can show your tables.
But this can be done on the same page not on other page as you needed.
