Object in cache count and total heap size consumed.

Hi
Can you please help me to extract - total number of custom value objects (count) and its total heap space consumed. How do we extract this information (from jrcmd or jrockit command control - jrockit jvm).
Do we need to use - com.tangosol.net.management.Registry? can you share some example/documentation in this regard.
Thanks
sunder

Hi NJ,
Thanks for your response - if I have to implement unit-calculator - i need to use instrumentation API to compute the size of a entry which will affect the performance of system.
Here is my problem.
1 - Have a com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer (distributed cache) instance running
2 - A client joins the distributed cluster and inserts records into cluster and leaves the cluster.
when I do jrcmd on "DefaultCacheServer" i dont see any of custom java components (beans set distributed cache) - I want to have visibility of objects being put in cache and actual space consumed. Is there a way to get this?

    Hi all,
I have a script that I use to delete files with a certain file extension in a folder and its subfolders. I would like to enhance to the script by counting the total number of files and their combined size in MB that the script is deleting and use this information

The existing script so far is:

So you do not know how to write a simple output statement.  I think you need to start here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptcenter/dd793612.aspx
Not specifically within Powershell no, like I said I only started looking at it this week as an alternative to VBS.
Nothing is being declared.  You need to learn the basics of PowerShell.  We cannot teach you one line at a time.
    Really? So the author of
this website is talking rubbish is he? ("Once data is assigned to a PowerShell variable, it’s automatically declared.")
I never asked for line-by-line hand holding nor am I someone who wants others to write the entire code for me. Examples of previous scripts that perform similar or partial operations would have been a good way to guide a new user unfamiliar to this topic.
Additionally posting modified(incorrect) and unfinished script examples without clearly stating what your code is doing nor that additional lines of code need to be added before the script will operate as outlined in the original post is confusing to someone
with 0 experience in this area.
On forums I frequent that are relevant to subjects which I have good experience with, whenever I respond to a genuine query of that has an example of what they are trying to create/modify, I will happily provide a full example and/or explain what I
have done so the OP understands exactly what I did to achieve their request in my example. For someone with your points tally (and likely a respected poster amongst your peers on this site) responding with what is essentially "RFTM Noob" I trust you can understand
    is somewhat disappointing.

  • How to increase Memory and Java Heap Size for Content Server

    Hi,
My content server is processing requests very slowly. Over performance is not good. I have 2 GB of RAM any idea what files I can modify to increase the Java Heap Size for the Content Server. If I increase the RAM to 4 or 6 GB where do I need to make changes for the Java Heap Size and what are the recommended values. I just have Content Server Running on the linux box. Or how do I assign more memory to the user that owns the content server install.

    Hello all
Im trying to customize the font size of the subtotal or total row
I was able to find the following and it got me half way there
    http://obieexpertise.blogspot.ca/2010/05/customize-format-of-subtotal-cells.html
BUT the issue I have now is that while the the total values are now increased in font size, the name of the row is not increased
    So for example
    Change Total 1000
The 1000 has increased in font size, but how do i get the "Change total" to increase in size?

In Pivot table Rows section on column->Sigma icon->Format Labels... or Format Values
    are not helping you?
The same for Table view too, this would be simplest one.

  • Page count and total page number for multiple forms in spool

    Hi,
I'm printing 5 or 6 forms in the same spool, they basically represent one big form.  Hence the page numbers should continue from one form to the other, also I will need a total page count that includes all the pages from all the forms. How should I go about doing this?

I'm not certain, but if you change the the page counter mode to INC for every PAGE except the start page of the first form it may just keep counting. Normally the first page of a form is set to START, making it page 1.

    Powershell Cmdlet,
Get-MailboxStatistics -Identity Username, Using this cmdlets all the details will get displayed.
DeletedItemCount:5 //Here how this count comes. In My OutlookWebApp the deleteditems folder contains 13 items in it..But the count shows only 5.

  • NT Service and Heap size

Can someone tell me if there is a way to :
    (1) verify and modify heap size in nt service?
    (2) in multi server mode, there are two nt services for weblogic
domains, is it needed to change heap size for weblogicAdmin service for
heap size increase? What will happen if PIA is 1024MB heap size and
    weblogicAdmin is 256MB?
    Thanks in advance/T

Nicolas, test show that once the nt service is installed, modifying heap
size in setenv.cmd and run setenv.cmd file reinstall nt service does not
change the heap size already in registry. So, test shows that I can
modify the heap size directly in registry and restart service?. Am i doing something wrong here.. can i correct and only to modify and existing heap size in
    registry?
Please let me know what else should I do once the old heap
size in already in registry and not the new heap size when reinstalled NT service.
other question, long the weblogic tuning, I found the following from bea site. During the peak time, we may have 40000 unique users per day. Should I also consider increase maxUserPort? The weblogic domains are hosted on windows 2003 servers.
    Windows Tuning Parameters
For Windows platforms, the default settings are usually sufficient. However, under sufficiently heavy loads it may be necessary to adjust the MaxUserPort and TcpTimedWaitDelay. These parameters determine the availability of user ports requested by an application.
By default, ephemeral (that is, short-lived) ports are allocated between the values of 1024 and 5000 inclusive using the MaxUserPort parameter. The TcpTimedWaitDelay parameter, which controls the amount of time the OS waits to reclaim a port after an application closes a TCP connection, has a default value of 4 minutes. During a heavy loads, these limits may be exceeded resulting in an address in use: connect exception. If you experience address in use: connect exceptions try setting the MaxUserPort and TcpTimedWaitDelay registry values under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters key:
    MaxUserPort = dword:00004e20 (20,000 decimal)
    TcpTimedWaitDelay = dword:0000001e (30 decimal)
Increase the value of the MaxUserPort parameter if the exception persists.
For more information about Windows 2000 tuning options, see:
§ The Microsoft Windows 2000 TCP/IP Implementation Details.

  • Why JVM shows another Heap size when Xms=Xsx?

Hi everybody. I have two instances of oc4j on a cluster of two nodes. The configuration of parameters on opmn.xml is exactly the same for both instances.
Particulary I see an strange behavior on memory heap. I expect that if Xmx and Xms parameters are equals to 4096, then the heap size must be fixed on 4 Gb exactly, and there will be not resizing.
But monitoring the heaps with JVisualVM I can see that the heap size of the first instance is moving between 3.7 and 4 Gb, and the Heap size of the second node is moving around 3.2 Gb. The hosts have both 16 Gb of RAM, it's running on Windows 2003 Server R2 and there is no overload on the OS.
Possibly the behavior is normal and I just have a wrong understanding of what is expectable.

    Hi Sebastien, Thanks for responding.
In fact I'm looking exactly where you say to determine your heap size.
The thing is that I can't understand why one instance takes some minor heap size and fluctuates the size while the other instance take around 4 Gb and kept static in this value. I can see there is no diferences on configuration for both. I know that the used heap must present diferent behavior, but not the total size. I think that the size should be fixed and static with Xmx=Xms=4096, but this is not happening.
I would like to show an image to ilustrate what I'm describing.
About the PermGen, I think there's no problem with that, around 80% is in effective use, and this value is stable.
    Best regards

  • Peformance Improvement by increasing heap size

    Hi
Is there any performace benefit when I execute my Java application by increasing the default heap size using Java -ms200m -mx200m <appName>
Please support with some performance figures
    Regards
    Vishal

If you know the size of the heap gows to you can save some time on startup. i.e.
If you know it grows to 100 MB on startup, make this the initial size.
The only diference I have found is when using SoftReference caching. Having more heap size will allow such a cahce keep it data for longer.
I would suggest running the application with -verbosegc to soo how often it garbage collects and how long it spends do it.
If you want to improve performance use a profiles e.g. JProfiler, Optimize-It, JProbe

I have changed the value of Xms and Xmx of JVM_ARGS to different size but I sitll get error. Anyone knows what the problem is. Thanks..

Don't know why, but the "maximum heap size: 267380736 bytes" value is just slightly less than 256*1024*1024, wheras the reported initial size is equal to that.
Try setting the initial value to 255MB.
