OC4J 10.1.2.0.2 faces 1.1_02 encoding UTF-8 issue
Hello all,
My problem occurs in oc4j 10.1.2.0.2 (Windows 2003, Romanian Locale...) with faces 1.1_02.
All tags text encoded UTF-8 doesn't rendered correctly it is encoded ISO-8859-1.
Simple JSP pages reders correctly UTF-8 characters but jsf (faces Ex. <h:outputText ...) did not.
I've used <%@ page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> and <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> without success
I've tried also to force to do this into a custom ServletFilter (response.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8")...) but without any results.
With oc4j 10.1.3 everything it is OK.
Any remark will be appreciated,
Thnk's
I found a way to do this in oc4j 10.1.2.0.2
<f:view>
<% response.setContentType("text/html; charset=UTF-8"); %>

How to use RAC database connection details in oc4j.xcfg files
Hi all,
we are using oc4j.xcfg files for the application module configuration for an ADF application. and one of the database has been configured on RAC. Any input on how to specify the RAC database details in the oc4j.xcfg file specially for the host name parameter.
The example entry like in oc4j.xcfg is like
?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
<BC4JConfig>
<AppModuleConfigBag>
<AppModuleConfig name="AppModuleLocal">
<AppModuleJndiName>dbta.model.AppModule</AppModuleJndiName>
<DeployPlatform>LOCAL</DeployPlatform>
<JDBCName>connectDB</JDBCName>
<ApplicationName>dbta.model.AppModule</ApplicationName>
<jbo.project>Model</jbo.project>
</AppModuleConfig>
</AppModuleConfigBag>
<ConnectionDefinition name="connectDB">
<ENTRY name="ConnectionName" value="connectDB"/>
<ENTRY name="URL" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:<user>/<pass>@<server>:<Port>:<SID>"/>
<ENTRY name="HOSTNAME" value="<server>"/>
<ENTRY name="JDBC_PORT" value="<port>"/>
<ENTRY name="SID" value="<SID>"/>
<ENTRY name="ConnectionType" value="JDBC"/>
<ENTRY name="JdbcDriver" value="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"/>
<ENTRY name="ORACLE_JDBC_TYPE" value="thin"/>
<ENTRY name="DeployPassword" value="true"/>
</ConnectionDefinition>
how to specify the failover nodes details in the above entry for host name etc.
Thanks

JDeveloper / OC4J rewriting my orion-ejb-jar.xml
Hi All.
Im having a play around with OC4J and CMP entity beans and struts at the moment learning some stuff for a new job, so ive started to write a little test app to get used to things.
Ive created a CMP entity - CustomerEntityEJB, manually defined the tables etc wrote and built it using JDeveloper 10.
Ive created all the necessary classes and descriptors in JDeveloper and the bean compiles and deploys fine, however no matter what i do, the table attribute of the <entity-deployment> elemnt is ALWAYS removed from the orion-ejb-jar.xml file before its deployed and i have no idea why.
Here are some snippets form the xml config files im using....
ejb-jar.xml :
<entity>

As you can see, the orion-ejb-jar.xml that been deployed on the server has had extra attributes defined in it (like concrete-bean-class) which makessense - its adding in the bits i didnt to get th bean to deploy - however the table attribue is just removed, meaning my bean cant find the table - hence my app not working.
i just dont know how to stop this and would be extremely grateful if someone could give me a clue how to get my bean up and working properly as this is driving me insane.
Thanks in advance..
Gareth.sorted - the <persistence-manager name="toplink"/> element was automatically generated by JDeveloper and put in my orion-ejb-jar.xml appears to be un necessary and seemed to be breaking eveything - as soon as i removed it, the bean seemed to deploy ok and pick up the table name =]
as a bit of an aside does anyone know why it was automatically put there in the first place if it breaks things? -
Portlets with ADF faces does not work
Hello
I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
I have followed the instructions of portelizing at http://download-east.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owcs_10132_bridge_viewlet.html
A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
I have two projects
1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)
Here is the source of untitled1.jsp

Can anyone help please

VijayHello dvohra,
Thanks for the reply but I have done everything before I posted my message on this forum
1. Is the Portlet Faces Bridge library in the project libraries?
yes in both test1 project and ui project. ui project is where the ADF application is and test1 is where the producer is registered
2. I sent the web.xml earlier in the forum. Yes it include the tags
here is it again

3. Yes it include that tag also. Please see the web.xml I pasted above
4. Yes I deployed it as the simple WAR file and NEVER as a WebCenter Application WAR
I am assuming that when you refer to web.xml you refer to the one in my ui project where the ADF application is . There is another web.xml file in test1 project where I try to test the portlet. That web.xml is also pasted in my earlier blog
Any other idea ?
thanks a lot
Vijay

Spring and TopLink/JPA on OC4J 10.1.3.4.0
Our configuration worked fine on OC4J 10.1.3.1 (linux) and 10.1.3.3 (windows). We have a problem with JPA (toplink essentials--not eclipselink) on OC4J 10.1.3.4.0 using Spring (2.0.7 and 2.5.6). We found that it was trying to connect to the default OracleDS data source(there were 2 connections in toplink essentials for some reason), but once we defined an OracleDS, it gave us this error:
javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: Error getting property 'experiments' from bean of type gov.llnl.nif.dataviz.mssar.web.ExperimentListBean: org.springframework.transaction.CannotCreateTransactionException: Could not open JPA EntityManager for transaction; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalStateException:

Thanks,
John CarlsonWe also had this problem. We have changed the TransactionManager.
Replace the JPATransactionManager with the JTATransactionManager.
<bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.transaction.jta.JtaTransactionManager" />
If you are using JTA you can't use the JPA Transaction Manager. It doesn't support JTA.
Found it on a forum of Spring. (http://forum.springframework.org/showthread.php?t=48191)

JSF Navigation issue with Webcenter OC4J and Open Portal JSF Bridge
Hi All,
I was wondering if anybody had experienced the same issue as per below:
I have a problem using the Open Portal JSF Portlet Bridge within a oracle webcenter OC4J. I have a trivial application with 2 jsps. The first has a single button, which when pushed navigates to the second screen.
This app works fine as a stand alone web app and also via the Oracle Faces Bridge using the OC4J. However, when I deploy using the jsfportletbridge 1.1.4 (I'm using the JSF 1.1) - it will not navigate from the first page. It simply refreshes the first page when clicked.
It looks like there is a problem with navigation. I have traced out the application (which I will include in full below), however the entries which looked relevant were (this occured after the first page was rendered):
07/06/05 23:49:19 [DEBUG] StateManagerImpl - Begin restoring view in session for viewId /hello.jsp
07/06/05 23:49:19 [DEBUG] StateManagerImpl - Session Available, but View State does not exist for viewId: /hello.jsp
07/06/05 23:49:19 [TRACE] LifecycleImpl - Creating new view '/hello.jsp'
My gut feel is that state is not being retained between requests, so it is just recreating the same view, however I'm at a loss to explain why
Attached below are the files used & trace log:

It looks like your application doesn't make use of a JSF binding layer, so it should be enough to initialize a Faces lifecycle listener like this:
<init-param>
<name>DefaultPage.view</name>
<value>/index.jspx</value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
<value>
oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
</value>
</init-param>
The DefaultPage.view parameter specifies the default page of the application to use as the View mode for the portlet. Its location is relative to the web-app-context-root and always start with a /.
The BridgeLifecycleListeners parameter specifies the filter classes to use. You must ensure that your portlet.xml file is configured to match the filters specified in your web.xml file. If you do not have the proper classes defined in portlet.xml, then you will receive a missing class error. You specify the classes in the BridgeLifecycleListeners init-param in your portlet.xml file:
<init-param>
<name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
<value>listener_class_n[,listener_class_n+1,...]</value>
</init-param>
For example, suppose that your application includes AdfFacesFilter filter in its web.xml:
<filter>
<filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
<filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
</filter>
You would then need to include the following class in your portlet.xml:
<init-param>
<name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
<value>oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
</value>
</init-param>
Similarly, suppose that ADFBindingFilter filter is defined in web.xml as follows:
<filter>
<filter-name>adfBindings</filter-name>
<filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
</filter>
You would then need to include the following in your portlet.xml:
<init-param>
<name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
<value>oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener,
oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.BindingFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
</value>
</init-param> -
Portletizing ADF Faces - Portlet Unavailable - Is there a Working Sample?
Hi,
It seems I have run into a similar issue as some people before me. I have watched all samples, read all relevant forum threads and yet I cannot solve my problem.
I have created a very simple ADF Faces applications that uses DataBinding - it displays records from a database table in an af:table component based on ADF BC. I have created the page, added the Portlet Faces Bridge library to the project, created the portlet.xml, copied and pasted and configured the Portlet.xml contents for my Portlet. Deployment is to a local yet standalone WebCenter containing OC4J instance. Note: deploying to the preconfigured OC4J also did not work.
When I register the Portletproducer, consume the portlet in an otherwise empty JSF page and run that page, I get the Portlet Unavailable message in the page. The error log is shown below.
I am wondering where to go from here, what can I try to analyze? And also: is there a working sample available for download of an ADF Faces based portlet that can successfully be consumed by an application?
portlet.xml:

LucasHello

Then I tried to deploy the test1.jsp as a WAR file in the webcenter OC4J and tried this URL
http://localhost:6688/AdfFacesDemoTest1/test1.jsp
but it gave me this error
500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
When I tried this URL I got a diffrent error. Googling this did not help at all

Thanks in advance.I had a similar problem on OC4J. For some crazy reason, Oracle still bundles their own XML parser (I say still. It's OC4J 10.1.3 we have in production, so we're just a wee bit behind the curve). At any rate, I had to tell OC4j not to use Oracle's XML parser and just the one bundle with the JRE (1.5). IIRC (and I should know this since I work on Mojarra :), that's caused by an older version of JAXB, so I think you're on the right track. You might check to see if Tomcat 6 bundles JAXB. If it does, you'll need to remove it or update it. If you're on 1.5 or greater, I don't think you need to have that in the app server lib anyway, as the JDK/JRE bundles it.
Hope that helps. :) -

Hope someone can help me with the following error. I've got a ear file which deploys 100% correct, and the application can run successfully after deploying. NinaI would advise you to use the latest version - 10.1.3.5 - i remember some issues with 10.1.3.4.
For certifications see here:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/oracle-soa-certification-101310-097492.html
You have two options to bypass the check:
* Use ignore : runinstaller -ignoresysprereqs
http://onlineappsdba.com/index.php/2008/11/24/upgrade-oracle-application-server-to-10134-10g-r3-patchset-4/
* Or change in the installers file that lists the allowed versions - you can search for the numbers listed in your error dialog -
Trying to use tomahawk and rich faces jar?
I tried a very simple example to know how to use menu group. These are the following steps:
1. I opened a web application using Netbeans using JSF as framework.
2. When I run my application, it worked and welcomeJSF page was displayed.
3. Then I wanted to a try a sample program. Hence I modified welcomeJSF page as below:
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk" prefix="t" %>
<%@ taglib uri="http://richfaces.org/rich" prefix="rich" %>
<f:subview id="menuSubView">
<h:form>
<t:panelGrid columns="1" width="50">
<rich:dropDownMenu value="Menu" direction="bottom-right">
<rich:menuItem value="Home" action="home"/>
<rich:menuSeparator id="menuSeparator1"/>
<rich:menuGroup value="test">
<rich:menuGroup value="Library ">
<rich:menuItem action="regNewLibrary" value="new"/>
<rich:menuItem action="regEditLibrary" value="edit"/>
</rich:menuGroup>
<rich:menuGroup value="Sample ">
<rich:menuItem action="regNewSample" value="new"/>
<rich:menuItem action="regEditSample" value="edit"/>
</rich:menuGroup>
<rich:menuGroup value="search ">
<rich:menuItem action="regSearchLibrary" value="library"/>
<rich:menuItem action="regSearchSample" value="sample"/>
</rich:menuGroup>
</rich:menuGroup>
<rich:menuSeparator id="menuSeparator2"/>
<rich:menuGroup value="test2 ">
<rich:menuItem action="testSelectLibrary" value="Load Library"/>
<rich:menuItem action="testSeqRequest" value="Seq Request"/>
</rich:menuGroup>
<rich:menuSeparator id="menuSeparator3"/>
<rich:menuItem value="Exit" action=" testing"/>
</rich:dropDownMenu>
</t:panelGrid>
</h:form>
</f:subview>4. I added tomahawk-1.1.6.jar, richfaces-api-3.1.0.jar, richfaces-impl-3.1.0.jar, richfaces-ui-3.1.0.jar into libraries.
5. When I run my application, I get an error report as below:

description The requested resource (/test1/) is not available.Can anyone tell me what went wrong?Yes, I could guess my problem now. My web.xml is as below:

MyFaces not rendering, ADF faces IS rendering
I'm installing my app on the websphere application server, Version 6.1 After having issues of both adf and myfaces not working, I came accross this link which helped me somewhat. http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Websphere_Installation .
By "not working" I mean that my jsp would have <h:commandLink>'s and <af:commandButton/> however the html was never actually generated. (You could view the pages source and the resulting html page was blank).
After following those instructions, ADF components are correctly rendered, and the html works. However, I can not use any <h:> or <h:> components.
Keep in mind, every single part of this used to work while using Tomcat (I think it was 5.5, not 6).

Problem w.r.t. JSF 2.0 with faces-config.xml
Hi All,
I am trying to evaluate the features of JSF2.0.
For that, I have created a very simple application with "JSF 2.0.2".
There is a page that displays a composite component and some other form related components (inputtext, commandbutton).
When I deploy my application without any faces-config.xml file, everything renders perfectly fine.
When I deploy the app with faces-config.xml (even an empty one without any configuration), none of the components get rendered.
Only the html elements get displayed.
I need to define some navigation-rules in my config file. I am not sure how to go further from here.
The app server I am using for deploying my app is GlassFish(v3).
Any help or pointers towards solving my problem are highly appreciated.
You can find the xhtml file, etc of my project below.
Thank you,
With best regards,
Praveen

Dynamic faces and Internet Explorer
Thanks for taking a second to read my post, i hope you can help. I am almost complete with my web app using Netbeans VWP and Dynamic Faces. I have come across a simple application that i can not get working in Internet Explorer and as simple as it is I am surprised that it is not working. I cant believe that the Dynamic Faces team would just ignore compatability with IE altogether. Basically i am trying to get AJAX interaction going on by adding text into a textbox and adding a new DynaFaces.fireAjaxTransaction(this); to the submit however it does not seem to work. Maybe you can help...

I think you have two options. You can open most modal subVI panels
directly on a remote machine. The popup panels won't be in a web page,

A second approach would be to change the app slightly. The buttons that
launch the subVIs will turn into URL links. The links will open a web
page with a different embedded panel.
