OC4J 10.1.3.1 and Spring - jsp:include issues

Hi,
I've got a strange problem when using OC4J 10.1.3.1 together with Spring framework.
I have several controllers in spring that generate things like page headers, footers, and other common elements. Historically I've merged these into a page with jsp:include or a c:import directive in the page.
However, with the newer versions of OC4J, it will retrieve the content for the first request, and then repeat that same content for each subsequent request.
If I replace that controller request with a direct .jsp page request, those elements are inserted and merged without any problem into the main page.
I haven't had this problem on other servers... nor have I had the problem with OC4J until the latest release... Does anybody have an idea how to allow me to merge this Spring-Controller generated content with a jsp page successfully?
thanks!

Sure, I've examined it a few times when I've adjusted various JSP options.. mostly around the tag handling. By the way, right now I have Tag Resuse Default set to "compiletime with release", though I've tried the other options as well.
__ojsp_s_out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[0]);
/*@lineinfo:translated-code*//*@lineinfo:6^5*/ {
String __url=OracleJspRuntime.toStr("/global/globalHeader.do");
// Include
pageContext.include( __url,false);
if (pageContext.getAttribute(OracleJspRuntime.JSP_REQUEST_REDIRECTED, PageContext.REQUEST_SCOPE) != null) return;
/*@lineinfo:generated-code*/
__ojsp_s_out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[1]);
/*@lineinfo:translated-code*//*@lineinfo:11^1*/ {
String __url=OracleJspRuntime.toStr("/global/globalNav.do");
// Include
pageContext.include( __url,false);
if (pageContext.getAttribute(OracleJspRuntime.JSP_REQUEST_REDIRECTED, PageContext.REQUEST_SCOPE) != null) return;
/*@lineinfo:generated-code*/
__ojsp_s_out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[5]);
/*@lineinfo:translated-code*//*@lineinfo:35^1*/ {
String __url=OracleJspRuntime.toStr("/global/globalFooter.do");
// Include
pageContext.include( __url,false);
if (pageContext.getAttribute(OracleJspRuntime.JSP_REQUEST_REDIRECTED, PageContext.REQUEST_SCOPE) != null) return;
There are three obviously.. and with this page execution I see the first one (globalHeader.do) duplicated three times in the final page.
thanks!

  • Jsp:include issues

    I have been scouring the internet trying to find the answer to this. I am trying to impliment jsp:include in one of my assignments for school, and the only problems I have with it is that when looking at references, nobody tells you how to access the passed parameter. It's probably just so simple that I'm not seeing it right in front of me, but if anybody could shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it.

    I apologize. It was so simple that I wasn't seeing it. Please never mind. ^_^

  • Jsp include issue

    hi
    i've tested a new version of my jsp include file (a header which is referenced by about 40 pages) on one jsp page, and its wokred ok. i've changed the coding of the include page though none of the other jsp pages have picked up the new include and are still looking to the old one ? i've stopped and started tomcat but its till not changed.
    does anyone have any ideas ? i've included a couple of new tag libraries but they are working ok and i cant see why it would be anything other than tomcat ? should i try stopping the app itself ?
    cheers
    chris

    not restart, you need to clear the work directory, or at least modify all the files that use the included file to get them to recompile. The server doesn't check for changes in included files for some reason.

  • Custom taglib and inexplicable jsp compilation issue

    Can someone explain what could possibly be happening here? I have been working on this for two days to no avail.
    With the following configuration, my jsp behaves as I expect it to on Tomcat, but fails to compile both for Jetty and the Maven2 jspc plugin
    deepfij.tld
    <taglib version="2.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee [3]" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee web-jsptaglibrary_2_0.xsd">

    menubar.jsp
    <%@ taglib prefix="df" uri="/WEB-INF/tlds/deepfij.tld"%>
    <c:forEach var="page" items="${menuRootPages}">
    <df:menuItem item="${page}" />
    </c:forEach>
    MenuItemTag.java
    package com.fijimf.deepfij.web.tag;
    .With the error: com.fijimf.deepfij.web.tag cannot be resolved to a type.
    BUT*, if I move MenuItemTag into the package com.fijimf.web, and correspondingly change the .tld, everything works as expected.
    Is this a bug, or is there a constraint in taglib packages I don't know about?
    Any guidance would be great, because I'd like to put classes where I want them.

    This is most likely a bug on the server. The JSP formatted Tag Files usually have a .tag extension on them ( [see tutorial|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnama.html] ). The server is probably looking at yyy.xxx.tag and trying to use it as if it was a Tag File named xxx.tag, rather than a package.

  • What is the difference between jsp :include and server side include

    what is the difference between jsp :include and server side include(request dispatcher include method)????
    i understand that both request dispatcher include method and jsp:include take dynamic data,so when would one use request dispatcher include and when jsp:include.
    Is the usage interchangeable?i believe jsp include is used only for jsp/html but include directive can be used to include servlets ,jsp and html....correct me if i m wrong and
    do suggest if u hav ny other diff in this context...

    The difference really is: in what format do you want your inclusions? If your environment has many Java developers and only a few designers that focus mainly on, say, Flash, that might push you more towards the server-side include() directive. Or, if you have a large set of pages that receive dynamic content that is displayed in a consistent fashion (such as a workflow header area on a page).
    If, on the other hand, you have more web designers, there may be a greater desire to deal in markup rather than Java code. Java developers themselves might prefer to view markup (JSP) that more resembles the eventual output than something occuring in Java code.
    Finally, there are considerations of tiering. While it is totally possible to (and I have previously) implement 'view classes' that render markup or generate layout templates, JSP's offer, IMO, a subtle, psychological advantage. By forcing a developer to work in a different format, markup versus Java source, the separation on view from controller and model becomes a bit easier. It is still possible to make mistakes, but if a developer at some point notices, "Wait, I'm in a JSP, should I be importing a java.sql class?", then the choice to use JSP includes has paid off in spades.

  • Calling custom tags in jsp  with jsp:include

    Hi,
    I have a large jsp file , which uses jstl fmt tags for labels.
    Since the size of jsp was too big iand i was unable to compile it because of 64 kb class size limit,
    I removed the tag lib defination from the jsp file and put it in another jsp file. and used jsp:include to include this file inside the first jsp.
    It is compiling successfully but labels r not showing up.
    but when i use <%@include to include second jsp in the first one i get the labels properly.
    I cannot use <%@include as this starts giving me compilation error related with jsp class file size beyond 64 kb.
    Pls suggest why jsp:include is not working.
    thanks,
    Pramod

    Hi Anil,
    Ur suggestion was good but could not solve my problem.
    I have put a small sample code to illustrate the problem.
    labeldemo.jsp:
    <%-- <%@ include file="WDCComInitLabelsjunk.jsp" %> --%>
    <jsp:include page="WDCComInitLabelsjunk.jsp" flush="true" />
    <table width="100%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" border="0" class="tablebg">
                                  <tr class="headtd">
                                       <td colspan="4"><span class="headtext"><fmt:message key="Cash_Management"/> </td>
                                  </tr>
                                  <tr> hi </tr>
                             </table>
                             </fmt:bundle>
    WDCComInitLabelsjunk.jsp:
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%@ page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@ page import="com.tcs.wdc.core.*" %>
    <%@ page import="com.tcs.wdc.core.login.*" %>
    <%@ page import="com.tcs.wdc.core.service.navigation.*" %>
    <%-- Include tag library --%>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/tld/fmt.tld" prefix="fmt" %>
    <%-- Get language from IDCUserSession & set it in session --%>
    <%
    /*SessionManager sm = new SessionManager(session);
    IDCUserSession ius = sm.getIDCUserSession();*/
    session.setAttribute("language","nl_NL");
    %>
    <%-- Set the locale for the language obtained --%>
    <fmt:setLocale value="${language}" />
    <fmt:bundle basename="labels" />
    If i uncomment the <%@ include file="WDCComInitLabelsjunk.jsp" %> tag in the code above it is working fine ,
    but it is not working with <jsp:include page="WDCComInitLabelsjunk.jsp" flush="true" />
    pls suggest.
    Thanks,

    JSR168 Portlet Exception with Oracle OC4J and Spring
    I’m having a problem with accessing a Spring JSR168 Portlet when deployed on Oracle OC4J. I have created a very simple portlet that just renders simple jsp page. I created two versions. I also have managed to run the Spring pets portlet example on Sun App Server and Sun Portlet container with no problems. But again it fails on Oracle with the same problem.
    To deploy on Oracle I ran the oracle wsrp jar against my EAR. As far as I can tell it has not corrupted any of the Spring setup in the web.xml.
    The version are as follows
    Oracle Portal 10.1.4 running on OAS 10.1.2

    The portlet is running on standalone OC4J 10.1.3.3 with Oracle portlet container 10.1.3.2. On Windows Spring 2.0.6.
    Any ideas? Thanks Paul

    Was an answer ever found? I am currently experiencing the same issue.

    The lines in bold are inside a switch case , the problem is generating when I am including two pages
    "/wo.charge.html" and
    "/history.equip.html"
    the output of "/wo.charge.html" is duplicating
    in place of "/history.equip.html"
    Somewhere I have read that there is a size limit for jsp service method of upto 64KB,
    the above code is in a jsp "/main.html" of size when compiled (.java) 42KB
    "/wo.charge.html" is of size 40KB
    Could this be leading to probem?
    Please clarify the above things
    Thanks

  • OC4J infinity loop in javac.exe compiling JSP

    Hi,
    i have a very strange problem with OC4J 10.1.3.5.0 and one JSP page. It occurs under Windows/OC4J (dev environment) and under Linux/OAS (in production environment).
    I try to explain as best as possible.
    I have an application running OK in OC4J. In this application I have a simple JSP that contains very little java code, like this:
    <%@ include file="/wtn/gen/checkAccess.jsp" %>
    <%@page info="mySite.com"
            language="java"
            errorPage="/wtn/gen/error.jsp"
            import="java.util.Locale,
                    com.mySite.util.Util,
                    com.mySite.Const,
                    com.mySite.LoginBussines"%>
    <%
        boolean b1 = LoginBussines.isB1(request) ? true : false;
        String domain = LoginBussines.getDomain(request);
        String url = "";
        if (b1) {
           url = "/web/" + locale + "/home.html";
        } else {
           url = "/web/" + locale + "/index.html";
    %>
    <html>
      <head>
          <title>JSP Page</title>
          <% out.println("<meta http-equiv='REFRESH' content='0;url=http://" + domain + url + "' />"); %>
      </head>
      <body>
      </body>
    </html>Well, this JSP don't have any error and it works fine normally.
    Problem ocurred:
    When I delete the precompiled JSP from persistence/_pages for force .java generation and re-compilation, OC4J generate .java correctly and launch a javac.exe process for compile the servlet .java. This compilation through javac.exe don't finish, remain permanent running and the compilation of JSP does not finish.
    The web application remain sleep while javac.exe process perform ghost operations. Finally (after 5 minuts aprox.) the OC4J stop waiting and show blank page.
    The javac.exe remains alive in Operating System.
    *(strange) Cause:*
    I know the cause but I find no explanation :-(...
    The cause is the import of com.mySite.LoginBussines. This class is correctly (compiled by Eclipse and Ant) and run OK when is called from a servlet or another class running in OC4J. But when this class is imported in a JSP, the javac go crazy and remain try to compile permanently...
    *(very strange) Workaround:*
    When I delete any code line of this class (one or more, no matter), arbitrary line of any method in this Class, recompile class and try again, it's work fine!
    NOTE: the size of LoginBussines.class it's around 66.897 bytes. I don't know if it's relevant.
    Please, someone know what's going on? Someone has encountered this problem?
    Thank you so much!

    Robert,
    It appears that you have only installed the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). You need to install the Software Development Kit (SDK). Get version 1.4.2_05, since this is what your version of OC4J requires. Go to the following Web page
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
    And look for the "Download J2SE SDK" link -- which appears below the heading:
    J2SE v 1.4.2_05 SDK
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • ADF Faces Components and HTML/JSP Pages

    We would like to create HTML/JSP pages and include some of the ADF Faces Components; ie: date picker, radio buttons, etc.
    When we develop this type of page, upon running in the embedded OC4J, the HTML is processed first and then the ADF Faces Components are processed. In the design panel/editor, everything is in the correct sequence. Upon running in the OC4J, it doesn't matter where in the code we place the ADF Faces Components, these ADF Faces Components always appear at the end of the other HTML and JSF Faces components in the displayed page.
    How can we mix the two technologies? ADF Faces alone is not flexible enough for our needs. We want to use the JSP:include tag for reusable code which works fine in a HTML/JSP page, but not in a ADF Faces PanelPage or PanelBorder or anything similar.
    We're running the EA17 version of the tag library.
    Can we mix the technologies? What are we missing? Is this an issue with the embedded OC4J? Will it make a difference if we develop JSP pages as pure JSP or the JSPX option?
    Thank you.

    The following tag lib allowed me to mix HTML and JSF tags (not sure about other JSP tags though). Hope this helps:

  • Weblogic 10.3TP, JAX-WS and Spring integration

    Hi all
    We are using JAX-WS and Spring (2.0.6) and our target platform will be Weblogic 10.3. We would like to benefit from Spring injection in our web service classes. However I cannot get it to work. I follow the instructions described here: [url https://jax-ws-commons.dev.java.net/spring]https://jax-ws-commons.dev.java.net/spring and I use version 1.7 of jaxws-spring
    When deploying the sample project I get the following error:

    Does anyone know if the final version of Weblogic 10.3 will have JAX-WS Spring injection support?

  • Jsp include and jsp param

    Hi All,
    I have the following:
    <jsp:include page="anotherPage.jsp">
            <jsp:param name="testing" value="sdfasdfsd"/>
    </jsp:include> And in anotherPage.jsp I have:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/tld/commons-log.tld" prefix="log" %>
    <log:dump scope="request"/>
    <log:dump scope="session"/>
    <log:dump scope="page"/>
    <log:dump scope="application"/>
    <h3>
    Test: <%= request.getParameter("testing") %>
    </h3>Not only does this output:
    Test: null
    but I don't see 'testing' anywhere in the dumps! What is going wrong?
    Have I badly misunderstood parameter sending? :-/
    Actually, my assumption was that the include code puts the "testing" variable
    into the request.. 1) where does jsp:param put the data items it
    passes through and 2) if the data item didn't previously exist as a
    request parameter, does it ignore it?
    Any assistance would be most appreciated!
    Rob
    :)

    Depends on the server version you are using. If you are using a JSP 2.0 server like Tomcat 5, then you should be able to do that, as long as you set up the container correctly (to use servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0 specs rather than 2.3 and 1.2...)
    Is you are using a JSP 1.2 container (less then TC5) then you will not be able to use EL anyware except in JSTL tags. The fix is to use the JSTL tags to do the include:
    <c:import url="thepage.jsp">
      <c:param name="param1" value="${attr}"/>
    </c:import>

    Thanks

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect my local database using JNDI datasource in tomcat and spring
    I have done the below configuration in Tomcat 7 server:
    In tomcat server.xml (Path: E:\apache-tomcat-7.0.35\conf) I added the below configuration
    <Resource name="UserDatabase" auth="Container"
    type="org.apache.catalina.UserDatabase"
    description="User database that can be updated and saved"
    factory="org.apache.catalina.users.MemoryUserDatabaseFactory"
    pathname="conf/tomcat-users.xml" />
    <Resource name="jdbc/myApp" auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
    url="jdbc:oracle:thin:hr@localhost:1521:XE>"
    username="testUser" password="password"
    maxActive="10" maxIdle="5"
    maxWait="60000" removeAbandoned="true"
    removeAbandonedTimeout="60" logAbandoned="true"/>
    In web.xml, I have added the below config:
    <resource-ref>
    <description>Oracle Spring JNDI Datasource</description>
    <res-ref-name>jdbc/myApp</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    And in my Spring context xml (ws-context.xml), added below config:
    <bean name="myDataSourceInJndi" class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean">
    <property name="jndiName" value="java:comp/env/jdbc/myApp"/>
    </bean>
    <jee:jndi-lookup id="dataSource" jndi-name="/jdbc/myApp" resource-ref="true"/>
    In my Java code, I am trying the below code to connect DataBase:
    Context initCtx = new InitialContext();
    Context envCtx = (Context) initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env");
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) envCtx.lookup("jdbc/myApp");
    ds.getConnection();
    But I am getting the below exception while executing ****ds.getConnection();***

  • Tomcat5 and precompiling JSPs with Ant

    Hi I'm trying to precompile my JSPs in ANT and I'm using Tomcat5. Below is my taskdef:
    <target name="jsp" depends="build">
        <!--
             The Ant JSPC task doesn't work with Tomcat 5.0
             so in the meantime we need to define our own task.
          -->
        <taskdef name="jspc50" classname="org.apache.jasper.JspC">
            <classpath id="jspc50.classpath">
                <fileset dir="${tomcat.home}">
                    <include name="*.jar"/>
                </fileset>
            </classpath>
        </taskdef>
        <jspc50 outputDir="${classes}"
                uriroot="${src}"
                package="jsp"
                validateXml="false">
            <include name="**/*.jsp" />
            <exclude name="**/includes/**/*.jsp" />
        </jspc50>
        <javac srcdir="${classes}"
               destdir="${classes}"
               debug="true"
               optimize="false"
               includes="**/*.java"
               source="1.4">
        </javac>
    </target>Now, this actually works but if I use an absolute include directive in my JSPs like:
    <%@ include file="/includes/header.jsp" %>Then I get the "/include/header.jsp" not found. However, if I change to
    <jsp:include page="/includes/header.jsp" />It works fine. Now, I want to use an absolute path and I also want to use the include directive. Has anybody seen this problem and know a solution?
    Thanks,
    Mike
