ODBC Cartridge works with MicroSoft Access database?

I need to work with data saved in the Access Database, I wonder
if the ODBC Cartridge will work with Access? From the
documentation, it only mentions Informix, System.... it didn't
mention Access or Excel ...
Any suggestion or prior experience to share will be appreciated.
Your asap response is much appreciated...thanks.

Hi,
I'm using OAS407 with ODBC cartridge and connecting to
Access. Also, Oracle support put an enhancement request
in for us to modify the ODBC cartridge to return BODY
tags thru ICX, so ODBC cartridge can be used with
LiveHTML. Is that what you want to know?

    I need to access data from the MicroSoft Access database. Will

    Frankie,
    I am not sure what you mean by 'ODBC Cartridge' . In JDeveloper
    (as with the JDK) you would connecto to an ODBC datasource using
    the JDBC-ODBC bridge. This works for MS Access.
    Hope this helps.

  • Forms 6i: working with Microsot access database

    I have developed a form that works with a Microsoft Access database instead of an Oracle database (I use ODBC). The form has a block based in a table named dias and this block has a column named dia based in the column dia.
    When I try to compile this program unit:
    PROCEDURE pru IS
    BEGIN
    select dia from dias;
    END;
    appears the following error: error 201, el identificador dia debe declararse (you have got to declare dia)
    And if I try to compile this:
    PROCEDURE pru IS
    BEGIN
    select dias.dia from dias;
    END;
    appears the following error: error 414,no hay ninguna columna dia en la tabla (there is not any column named dia in the table)
    The :system.last_query variable is "select dia from dias" when I do a query.
    Please, I need your help urgently.
    Thanks,
    Sara

    Try this:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put ("user", user);
    props.put ("password", password);
    props.put ("charSet", "UTF8");
    c = DriverManager.getConnection (url, props);

  • How to connect with Microsoft Access Database with JAVA

    I want to know the command and query to connect between MSAccess and JDBC.
    Is it beter way to make connection with MSAccess comparing with other Databases such as SQL and Oracle.
    Which Database will be the best with Java?
    I also want to know to be platform indepadent which database is suitable?

    On Windows, you can use MS Access database by:
    Set up a System Data Source using the ODBC control panel applet.
    Use the jdbc:odbc bridge JDBC driver, and specify a jdbc url that points to the data source name you just specified.
    It's been too long since I've done this, so I don't remember the syntax of the jdbc url, but I'm sure that if you do a search for the jdbc:odbc bridge that you will find what you are looking for.
    As far as the question about which database is best, you will need to determine that based on your project requirements.
    If you want a quick and dirty, open source, cross-platform database, take a look at HyperSonic SQL.

  • Working with InDesign and Microsoft Access Databases

    I was wondering if there’s anyway to synchronize Adobe InDesign with Microsoft Access in a way that when changes are made to the INDD file they would automatically be updated in the database.  Does Anyone have any ideas on this?  Is there a third party plugin that would accomplish this or would I need to export xml out of InDesign?

    InCopy would be indeed the best solution for you. InCopy is the little brother of InDesign, But both need to be in the same version to work together flawless.
    InCopy is much cheaper and simpler than InDesign as it is missing layout capacity, but both of you need to understand both applications.
    Generally, if 2 persons are working on the same document they should have the same versions between 2 InDesigns or between InDesign and InCopy, any workflow where IDML is needed should be avoided.
    Why are there so many corrections in your present workflow? If you make your Word Document correct and set it up with styles without any manual format overrides, no hyphenation, no several continuous returns it should reduce the number of corrections on the first place.

  • Login codes using java database (validates with Microsoft Access File)

    hi all pro-programmer, can you show me the code to login with the username and password using java database. When the user enters the username and password in the login page then it will go to the requested page. may i know how to do it?

    no one will give you complete code.
    i'll lay out the pieces for you, though:
    (1) start with a User object. give it username and password attributes.
    (2) write a UserDAO interface with CRUD operations for a User object.
    (3) write a UserDAOImpl for your Microsoft Access database
    (4) write an AuthenticationService interface
    (5) write an implementation of the AuthenicationService that works with the UserDAO to authorize a User.
    Use a servlet to accept request from your login page and pass it off to the service. Voila.
    PS - Here's skeleton to start with. UI, servlet, and controller are your responsibility:
    package model;
    public class User implements Serializable
        private String username;
        private String password;
        public User(String u, String p)
            this.username = u;
            this.password = p;
        public String getUsername() { return username; }
        public String getPassword() { return password; }
    public interface UserDAO
        public User findByUsername(String username);
        public void saveOrUpdate(User user);
        public void delete(User user);
    public class UserDAOImpl implements UserDAO
        private Connection connection;
        public UserDAOImpl(Connection connection)
            this.connection = connection;
        public User findByUsername(String username)
            String password = "";
            // logic for querying the database for a User
            return new User(username, password);
        public void saveOrUpdate(User user)
            // save or update a User
        public void delete(User user)
            // delete a User
    public interface AuthenticationService
        public boolean isAuthorized(String username);
    public class AuthenticationServiceImpl implements AuthenticationService
        private UserDAO userDAO;
        public AuthenticationServiceImpl()
            // Create a database connection here and the UserDAO, too.
        public boolean isAuthorized(String username)
            boolean isAuthorized = false;
            // Add logic to do the database query and decide if the username is authorized
            return isAuthorized;
    }

    Right off hand I would say the problem is that you are connecting through ODBC. Try the native SQL Server driver, your connect string should define the provider as "SQLOLEDB.1".

  • How do I open a pdf stored in a Microsoft Access database using Visual Basic studios 2012

    Currently I am unable to find a valid method of being able to open a pdf stored in a Microsoft Access database using Visual Basic studios 2012. I've tried displaying the entire database on a form, but when I do this all the other columns show up with
    the correct data besides the one containing the pdf's, it just displays <binary data> in each row down the column. I also tried another method with which you use the database as a dataset and can drag and drop the rows and columns into the form, which
    again works for all the other columns besides the one containing the pdf's but this time I'm unable to interact with the column  at all.
    Not too sure if this is in the correct place, but any answers or help would be appreciated. Cheers.

  • Is it possible to Install the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 if we are running Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit?

    So we are running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, Version 14.0.7015.1000
    (32-bit)
    This is what is installed via our Network and Network licensing.
    I am trying, in vain, to read and write a .xlsx file via a C# Edit Script in a SSIS Package. And I have tried using...
    string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
    And this tells me that this has not been installed. So when I go and try and get the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 64-bit, which would allow me to use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 and allow me to read, write, and process this .xlsx file, it tells me
    I cannot install it because I already have 32-bit installed and it wants me to un-install Microsoft Office 2010. Why? Because it is 32-bit? And I can't do that because this is what we have and what we're licensed for and from what I've read seems to be the
    industry standard because most software vendors are ill equipped to process 64-bit right now.
    So my question is this...How can I use a C# Edit Script to read and process a .xlsx file? Because if I try using...
    string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 8.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
    It then tells me that the file is not in that format.
    Please excuse me for asking this question in a couple of different ways out here but I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to get an answer as to how I can process a .xlsx file with a C# script and which driver to use that will make this work.
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.
    ITBobbyP85

    Hi ITBobby85,
    If the excel version in the Connection Manager is Microsoft Excel 2010 (.xlsx), we should use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB provider.
    We can't install 32bit and 64bit parts of office on the same machine. We will get an error as you said when we run the installer to install the 64bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable in the machine where a 32bit version
    of Microsoft Office installed. To fix this issue, please download and install the 32bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable with the link below:

    When I open (as domain admin with UAC elevated permissions) on my DB server SQL Management studio, I can browse tables and everything works.
    The problem is, if I open SQL management studio (as domain admin with UAC elevated permissions) on my File server or any other computer, when trying to browse my linked server i got error:

    I am confused becouse it works from SQL server but from any SQL client domain member computer/server it does not work.
    I have same problem in another environment where I have Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2 SP2.
    Please help.
    -- Hrvoje Kusulja

    NTFS must be fine since it works from same server using same accounts.
    As I understand, adding my access file to Access trusted location could be a problem. I have tried now to add my access database file location to trusted locations for user which is my SQL service user (Windows Service - AD managed service account MYDOMAIN\SQL1$)
    and my test user which I use to connect to sql server as a client from sql management studio. (Account is Domain Admins and have full permissions on SQL server also)
    I have added this .reg:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Security]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Security\Trusted Documents]
    "LastPurgeTime"=dword:01592874
    "DisablePromptOpenNetworkTrustedDocuments"=dword:00000000
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Security\Trusted Locations]
    "AllowNetworkLocations"=dword:00000001
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Access\Security\Trusted Locations\Location0]
    "Description"="My file server"
    "AllowSubFolders"=dword:00000001
    "Path"="\\\\myfileserver.mydomain.com\\files\\"
    I have done this for SQL service account user and my personal test account as I said. I have tried to logoff and restart sql service and all servers also.
    The same problem still persists.
    Anyway, thank you for giving me a hint.

    String dirverClass="sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"; String url="jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=C:\\apache-tomcat-5.5.27\\webapps\\Test\\db.mdb"; String content=""; try{   Class.forName(dirverClass);   Connection conn=DriverManager.getConnection(url);   Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();   String sql="select * from mytab"; ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(sql); while(rs.next()){       content=rs.getString("zd1"); }
    My question is whether I must install microsoft access database?
    Thanks

    Far as I know and have been able to determine a MS Access ODBC driver comes with every windows install going back to about windows 98. Might be 95 as well.
    I haven't looked at some of the more exotic ones like the 64 bit versions nor the mobile versions.

  • Can I use Web Services with Microsoft Access?

    I'm somewhat handy with Microsoft Access (2003 in particular), but not an expert. Macros? No problem. VBA? I'd be hard pressed to code anything from scratch, but I'm not too bad with modifying code/examples to fit my particular scenario. So, if anything about this doesn't ring quite right, now you'll know why. Some years ago I worked with another guy to develop a module that used REST(?) to query some web services at Yahoo!. If that worked, I was hoping that I could do similar things with CRMOD I was thinking, for example, I might want to get the Opportunity Sales Stage for a number of records. And since there are tools for Excel and Word, I thought Access might work, too. As a starting point, I imagine I need to use the Web Services Toolkit for Office 2003. But frankly, I don't even know where to go beyond that.
    Am I wasting my time? Any suggestions for an intro to web services?

    Probably not through USB.
    But likely if its anytihng like the Microsoft Sync in my Ford Explorer you can play audio from it through Bluetooth.
    You can read here for compatibilites, and features.

    I connect My iPad to the Sync media center with no issues and can play my musci from the iPad thorugh the car stereo speakers.
