I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

  • Problem with provisioning and external SQL server connection

I am configuring IPAM 2012 R2 on a our management server.  Completed the first step by enabling the feature.  No issues.
Now I am on the Provisioning IPAM step.  I get to the Configure Database step...
    I choose Microsoft SQL server,
What should those values be in the Server name and Database name fields.  Instructions show fqdn or ip address but that doesnt seem to be working for me.
I get the following error at the end of the Provisioning IPAM wizard,
IPAM Deployment failed with the following error.
Failed to connect to database server. Check the database name, connectivity and remote access.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)
You can restart this provisioning wizard from the IPAM overview page.
From the management server I have tested the SQL Connection with a udl file.  I used myServer\myInstance and it works.  It reports that I have made the Connection to the server and database with the sql credentials i have provided.
    Thanks

    Ran
into a problem with connecting to the DB on the SQL server from the IPAM server.  The Dba and I checked the target SQL instance was enabled TCP and listening on a valid TCP port.  SQL server was set to use port 1443 for incoming connections.
IPAM was set by default to use 1433.
    Also used
netstat-n to identify issue and verified 1443 on SQL server was
being used.  Made the correction under the IPAM provisioning wizard and connected to the database.  Fixed.
Important note I was able to connect to the database with a .udlfile
    without any issues
Also note that 2012 R2 IPAM only supports 2012 SQL Enterprise.  Why?

    Hi Karthikeyan,
This is not the issue at all. I can open the management studio by the same login id and password and also i can make the database jdbc connection from plain java file.
It does not give me any problem by them.
I'm unable to find the actual problem. May be i'm missing something in connection pooling.
    Please help.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The
server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26- Error:Locating Server\instance Specified)
    How Can i solve this?

    1. Make sure SQL Server Service is running
    2. If a named instance, make sure SQL Server browser service is running
    3. Make sure SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections
    4. Examine the SQL Server error log for messages confirming that SQL is listening on the expected network interfaces and ports
    5. Test server connectivity with PING from the client machine
    6. Test port connectivity using TELNET or PowerShell to the server and port (from step 4) from the client machine.  For example
    a. TELNET <server-name> 1433
    b. PowerShell: 1433 | % { echo ((new-object Net.Sockets.TcpClient).Connect("YourServerName",$_)) "server listening on TCP port $_" }
    7. Check firewall settings if step 5 or 6 connectivity test fails

  • How to create ODBC connection between Oracle 10g and MS SQL Server

    Hi,
Can someone help us with the steps to create an ODBC connection between Oracle APPS using Oracle 10g database and MS SQL Server.
Requirement is to extract the transactional data from MS SQL Server on a daily basis and dump it into Oracle tables for an interface to be run. Currently it is being done through Dataloader tool which we feel is causing the data issue with Arabic characters. We want to create the ODBC directly between Oracle and MS SQL Server and check if the data is being pulled correctly.
The data is in sql server 2000 which has data in Arabic_CI_AS character set which is moved to Oracle 10.2.0.3 database with characterset AL32UTF8. The table data is moved to oracle using the dataloader 3.6 standard edition licensed version. We cannot change the character set of Sql Server 2000.
    Please help
    Thanks
    Shanil

    Hi,
If you're trying to PULL data from SQLServer into an Oracle database, you wouldnt use Oracle ODBC driver for that, so you may want to post in the Heterogeneous Services forum instead:
    Heterogeneous Connectivity
If you're trying to PUSH data from SQLServer into an Oracle database, you could use ODBC but most folks use OLEDB for that, and the following note on MOS should help:
How to Create a Sql Server Linked Server With The Oracle Provider for OLE DB     (Doc ID 191368.1)
As with any NLS related issue, the first thing to do is dump the codepoints of the data in the Oracle database to see if it is stored validly, rather than relying on what the data "looks like" from some tool or other. It's best to check a single row, with only a few characters in it if you can, and you can do that via
    SELECT DUMP(<columname>,1016) FROM <tablename> WHERE ...
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Connecting Xcelcius and MS SQL Server 2005

    Hi All,
I need to create report dashboards in Xcelcius fetching data from MS SQL 2005 server. I've found different options for setting the connection between Xcelcius and MS SQL 2005, like using Reporting Service, using XML Maps etc. Which is the best option for setting up  the connection?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Shyam,
You may wish to refer the link below..

What i suggest is, create web service to retrieve data from SQL database and call this WSDL url in your Xcelsius.

  • I am trying connect to a SQL instance for our CRM program and I am receiving To Connect to this Server you must use SQL Management Studio or SQL Server Management

I am trying connect to a SQL instance for our CRM program and I am receiving To Connect to this Server you must use SQL Management Studio or SQL Server Management
This is a Brand new Server 2012 that is running our CRM product and it is trying to connect to a Server 2008 R2 server with SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 instance (10.50.4000)
I have seen this in the past where it needed the 2005 backwards compatibility components installed but those are not supported on 2012 server and this is not a 2005 SQL instance.
I am trying to install the Shared Management Objects for SQL Server 2008 but it tells me I need to install the CLR types, which I did install. But it continues to tell me to install the CLR types.
Has anyone ran into any issues like this? (this happens trying to connect to multiple SQL Servers from this new 2012 Server)
    Thanks!
    -Max

    Hello,
Which version and edition of the SQL Server instance did you installed on the new server machine?  If you install SQL Server 2012 Express edition, you can try to install SQL Server Management Studio 2012 from
    this link.
You can connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 or earily verions with SSMS 2012.
What's more, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects Collection requires Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0, Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, and Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types. You can try to download and install
    SQL Serve 2008 Feature Pack
    which contains packages above.

  • CONNECT and ALTER statements in a Procedure. COPY command in SQL*Plus

    Hi people,
Is it possible to use the SQL commands, "CONNECT" and "ALTER TABLE" in a procedure, function or trigger?
In one of my audit procedures, I need to connect to a financial database (FROM the applications database), and then proceed to alter a number of tables based on certain data. I'm sure I've done it before, but I can't remember how! Isn't there a command such as "EXEC_SQL" or something?
    Another question:
I need to copy a table from one database ("OPS$TSLIVE") to another ("TRACKER"). Here is an excerpt of my code, as well as an error! I've never had this error before!
    JOHANN> copy from ops$tslive/pwd@cds to tracker/pwd@tracker create new_alerts using select * from alertcodesfile;
Array fetch/bind size is 15. (arraysize is 15)
Will commit when done. (copycommit is 0)
Maximum long size is 80. (long is 80)
    select * from alertcodesfile
Error in SELECT statement: ORA--1002: Message -1002 not found; product=RDBMS; facility=ORA
    Please help!
    Kind regards,
    Johann.

You are refering to 'execute immediate' (>=8i). As far as I know it is not possible to do connects. Alter table perhaps, if it is in the local database (try it). If you want to perform dml in a remote database, create a database link and use that to perform you dml on. a DB link can also be used to call a remote procedure (That perhaps does the alters for you). Try it.
The oracle doc says this about ORA-1002:
    ORA-01002 fetch out of sequence
Cause: In a host language program, a FETCH call was issued out of sequence.
A successful parse-and-execute call must be issued before a fetch. This can
occur if an attempt was made to FETCH from an active set after all records have
been fetched. This may be caused by fetching from a SELECT FOR UPDATE
cursor after a commit. A PL/SQL cursor loop implicitly does fetches and may
    also cause this error.
Action: Parse and execute a SQL statement before attempting to fetch the data.It looks like a bug, ask Oracle support.

  • Gateway elements and a SQL database connection

    Hello,
I've been running into some rather strange activity with a process I created. My process has multiple gateway elements in it, to allow for multiple people to review and comment on a form throughout the process. I have run this process through on my own machine (this has your normal turnkey install on it), a Development server (set up on a VM), and a Production server (server 2003). Both the dev and production servers are set up to point to a SQL database. My turnkey install points to mysql that was installed as part of the turnkey installation. The process runs correctly on my turnkey install, but not on either of the two server installs. On the two servers where the process fails the process will do one of two things when it gets to a gateway. First it may run through all the branches as expected. Or it may decide not to run through a single or multiple branches. The process itself does not stall, nor does any single task show as stalled. When I review the process in the process management module in adminui, the process seems to be missing tasks when the process fails to execute properly. When I review the jBoss logs, I receive TransactionRolledbackLocalException errors and locking errors when LiveCycle tries to connect with the SQL database. It almost seems like something with the SQL database conncetion isn't allowing for the gateway to function properly. I only seem to be able to reproduce this with the servers that point to a SQL database. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so how did you resolve it?

I am using a WAMP server and Flex3 and I have the same problem.
I have a table called "reservations" in the MySQL database, with the following fields:
    reserv_id  - int(10)
    date - date
    begin_time - time
    end_time - time
    hours - int(10)
    price - int(10)
    court_id - int(10)
    user_id - int(10)
When I "create application from database" I also get the message  "Table does not contain any columns.".
why is it so? I was trying to find some solution in Internet, but didn't found nothing ..
