ODI - Delete Level0 through Microsoft SQL Server Source?

Is it possible to use ODI to delete members through a Microsoft SQL Server Source and a Planning target? I can load the members with a MS SQL source but can't seem to get the process to work when i add an operator (no matter which one i choose Delete IDescendants or Delete level0). I am able to get it to work with a file but would rather use the table to run the delete as well.

Using a relational table should be no different than using a flat file source.
I take it no errors are being generated, have you checked the SQL that is being generated in the operator, you should be able to lift it out of the step in the operator and run against sql server to see if the correct records are being returned.
Cheers

    If you've run out of disk space for your SQL databases then of course you'll get errors. Fix SQL then look to see if you're still getting errors.

  • Share Data Source between multiple report projects in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services

    I have a reports solution in 2012 which contains multiple report projects one each for target deployment folder and we use TFS 2012 for report deployment.
    We have a template project which has a bunch of template reports and all the datasources used in different reports.
    When I develop a report, I cannot "Preview" in TFS but, for deploy this used to work fine util the reports solution was in TFS 2010 & Visual Studio 2008 R2. Since we moved to TFS 2012 & SSRS 2012 not being able to deploy till I create all
    the necessary datasources for each project and now all the developers complaining that they cannot develop reports in TFS itself as they cannot preview (this problem was existing previously) and now not being able to deploy as it errors for each report "Could
    not find specified rds file". I tried messing around with the .rptproj file DataSources tag that did not help either by modifying it like below.
    <DataSources>
    <ProjectItem>
    <Name>DB.rds</Name>
    <FullPath>Template\Data Source\DB.rds</FullPath>
    </ProjectItem>
    </DataSources>
    Is there a way I could share a Data Source between multiple projects in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services?
    Thanks in advance.............
    Ione

    Hi ione721,
    According to your description, you want to create a shared data source which works for multiple projects. Right?
    In Reporting Services, A shared data source is a set of data source connection properties that can be referenced by multiple reports, models, and data-driven subscriptions that run on a Reporting Services report server. It must be within one project.
    We can't specify one data source working for multple projects. In this scenario, we suggest you put those reports into one project. Otherwise you can only create one data source for each project.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best Regards,

  • Error Deleting publication Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15517

    I have a MSSQL 2008 on a windows 2008 server.
    I cant delete a publication that isnt in use anymore i get the following error.

    BUTTONS:

    I have tried to delete it by right clicking and delete. I have tried by query.
    exec
    sp_removedbreplication
    N'<sqlServerName>'
    exec
    sp_droppublication @publication
    = N'<sqlServerName>'
    I have looked at many forums.
    I am trying to do this as 'sa'.
    Do you have any suggestions?

    johnyvee,
    Firstly, exec sp_removedbreplication should be corrected in your msg above to have the parameter of 'databasename' instead of 'sqlservername' same for the droppublciation procedure, it must be passed the publication name and not the servername.
    Secondly, go to the properties of 'TASS' database and under Files make sure you have an owner specified, specify sa for example.

  • Microsoft Sql Server data source ???

    I'm trying to use the Microsoft Sql Server 2000 jdbc driver (without any success) in developing a small jsp app: specifically, I'm trying to set connection in web.xml as follows
    <context-param>
    <param-name>
    javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.sql.dataSource
    </param-name>
    <param-value>
    ??? What the heck is the value for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 ???
    </param-value>
    </context-param>
    (basically, this code is swiped from Ch. 12 of Bergsten's book, Java Server Pages - his example uses jdbc-odbc bridge driver).

    you need to Specify that the physical table object is a stored procedure. When you select this option, you type the stored procedure in the text box. Requests for this table will call the stored procedure.
    For stored procedures that are database specific, select the Use database specific SQL check box. At run time, if a stored procedure has been defined, the stored procedure will be executed.
    In the table properties, you need to create columns manually.

  • ODI with Microsoft SQL Server

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a physical schema to connect to Microsoft SQL Server. When asked user and password for the connection to the server, what rights must the user have in order for this to work?
    And when specifying the JDBC URL, what should be the hostname, the same as the server name?
    Thank you,
    Adina

    Hi there,
    I use this configuration for connecting SQL Server:
    In data server object
    * Definition: the must important fields are the username and password
    * JDBC:
    - JDBC Driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    - JDBC URL: jdbc:sqlserver:// *<SERVER IP or NAME>* : <*PORT* (optional, if not defined it will take the default)>
    Then you need to create a physical schema where you're going to define the SQL Server database name and the owner or user
    * Definition:
    - Database(catalog): name of the SQL Server database
    - Owner (schema): the name of the owner, for example dbo
    - Database(work schema): again the name of the SQL Server database; not required
    - Owner(work schema): not required
    On local object mask I also modify this field to add the SQL Server user, for example *%CATALOG.dbo.%OBJECT*
    On remote object mask I leave the same (*%DSERVER.%CATALOG.%SCHEMA.%OBJECT*)
    Hope this was useful for you
    Cheers,

  • Can I run microsoft sql server on my archlinux box?

    One of our office programs is showing its age, and I am looking at upgrading.  Unfortunately, they have changed their approach and it now requires a microsoft sql server.  Is there a way to run that on my arch server, through vmware or something like that?  I don't want to invest in a separate windows box just for this one program.
    No, there isn't an open source alternative.  I've looked.

    timm wrote:it now requires a microsoft sql server.
    You may try using Sybase ASE; for long time (until 6.0), MS SQL Server was just Sybase with MS branding and even today differences are not so big (depending, of course, on specific application's needs). I have never tried such a setup, but connecting to MSSQL with Sybase client libraries works OK, maybe you'd have luck in opposite direction.
    There is a document on migrating apps from MSSQL to ASE; I know this is not the case, but there are some valuable information about differences between those RDBMSs that may help you to decide whether there are chances to succeed or not.

  • The SELECT permissions was denied on the object 'extended_properties', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:229

    I have a SQL Server connected intro a Windows Server 2003 Domain Active Directory, the server holds a default instance with a single Database, the SQL Server is 2005 Std Edition, and is using mix mode Authentification, then I able to create SQL Native Users
    and Invoque Windows Domain Users also.
    The Goal of this project is remove the sysadmin Server role for all the Windows Domain Users, to give then a more granular secure model but at the moment is this only way to connect at the Data Base Server.
    I already create Native SQL Servers users without any problem!, they respect Securable Setting, Server Roles, User Mapping, everything...Just when I create a Login Profile form a Domain Users and apply the same setting, I get this error...
    The SELECT permissions was denied on the object 'extended_properties', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.(Microsoft SQL Server, Error:229)
    But if the user have sysadmin Server Rol he can sing over the server without any issue, I review the .sys view extended_properties and "Public" is the only Database Role placed.
    Any Idea if I need change any Setting in the Secure in SQL Master DataBase? or which is the issue witjh this matter?
    Thank in advance for your help!

    Since there are so many possibilities for what might be wrong.  Here's another possibility to look at.  I ran into something where I had set up my own roles on a database.  (For instance, "Administrator", "Manager", "DataEntry",
    "Customer", each with their own kinds of limitations)  The only ones who could use it were "Manager" role or above--because they were also set up as sysadmin because they were adding users to the database (and they were highly trusted).
    Also, the users that were being added were Windows Domain users--using their domain credentials.  (Everyone with access to the database had to be on our domain, but not everyone on the domain had access to the database--and only a few of them had access
    to change it.)
    Anyway, this working system suddenly stopped working and I was getting error messages similar to the above.  What I ended up doing that solved it was to go through all the permissions for the "public" role in that database and add those permissions
    to all of the roles that I had created.  I know that everyone is supposed to be in the "public" role even though you can't add them (or rather, you can "add" them, but they won't "stay added").
    So, in "SQL Server Management Studio", I went into my application's database, in other words (my localized names are obscured within <> brackets): "<Computername> (SQL Server <version> - sa)"\Databases\<MyAppDB>\Security\Roles\Database
    Roles\public".  Right-click on "public" and select "Properties".  In the "Database Role Properties - public" dialog, select the "Securables" page.  Go through the list and for each element in the
    list, come up with an SQL "Grant" statement to grant exactly that permission to another role.  So, for instance, there is a scalar function "[dbo].[fn_diagramobjects]" on which the "public" role has "Execute" privilege.
    So, I added the following line:
    EXEC ( 'GRANT EXECUTE ON [dbo].[fn_diagramobjects] TO [' + @RoleName + '];' )
    Once I had done this for all the elements in the "Securables" list, I wrapped that up in a while loop on a cursor selecting through all the roles in my roles table.  This explicitly granted all the permissions of the "public" role to
    my database roles.  At that point, all my users were working again (even after I removed their "sysadmin" access--done as a temporary measure while I figured out what happened.)
    I'm sure there's a better (more elegant) way to do this by doing some kind of a query on the database objects and selecting on the public role, but after about half and hour of investigating, I wasn't figuring it out, so I just did it the brute-force method.
    In case it helps someone else, here's my code.
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[GrantAccess]
    AS
    DECLARE @AppRoleName AS sysname
    DECLARE AppRoleCursor CURSOR LOCAL SCROLL_LOCKS FOR
    SELECT AppRoleName FROM [dbo].[RoleList];
    OPEN AppRoleCursor
    FETCH NEXT FROM AppRoleCursor INTO @AppRoleName
    WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0
    BEGIN

    so to refresh their connection with the domain?  Well, this solves the issue for now.
    One last warning: you probably should check the "public" role on your system before running this to make sure there isn't something missing or wrong, here.  It's always possible something is different about your system.

    Since there are so many possibilities for what might be wrong.  Here's another possibility to look at.  I ran into something where I had set up my own roles on a database.  (For instance, "Administrator", "Manager", "DataEntry", "Customer",
    each with their own kinds of limitations)  The only ones who could use it were "Manager" role or above--because they were also set up as sysadmin because they were adding users to the database (and they were highly trusted).  Also, the users that
    were being added were Windows Domain users--using their domain credentials.  (Everyone with access to the database had to be on our domain, but not everyone on the domain had access to the database--and only a few of them had access to change it.)
    Anyway, this working system suddenly stopped working and I was getting error messages similar to the above.  What I ended up doing that solved it was to go through all the permissions for the "public" role in that database and add those permissions to
    all of the roles that I had created.
Go through the list and for each element in the list, come up with an SQL "Grant" statement to
    grant exactly that permission to another role.
This explicitly granted all the permissions of the "public" role to my database roles.

  • Aggregate functions not working on SQL Server source datetime2 column

    I can happily replicate data from a SQL Server 2008 R2 source table, datetime2(7) to an Oracle 11g Release 2 target table, TIMESTAMP column:
    I create a new temporary interface, right-click on the datetme2 source column, Add Column to Target Table and the data is replicated into an ORACLE TIMESTAMP.
    But if I change the mapping to MIN(<source column>) or MAX(<source column>) then the interface doesn't fail, but my target table is simply empty.
    I noticed that in my ODI (version 11.1.1) doesn't have datetime2 listed as a Microsoft SQL Server Datatype, so I'm trying to solve the problem by creating and using such a datatype but no joy so far.
    Has anyone got any advice / experience on this?

    The 10.1.3.0 versions of JDeveloper contain our early preview of EJB 3.0 JPA functionality. One limitation is that the query language is not complete (released before the spec was finalized).
    You can use TopLink Essentials (JPA Reference implementation) whihc contains a complete compliant implementation of the final specification.

    The 10.1.3.1 JDeveloper preview ships with TopLink Essentials.

    I am able to connect successfully to the Data Source and run a query against the database using the NQCMD command line tool so believe I have configured the DataDirect 7.0.1 drivers correctly, also I am able to view the Table Data in the RPD Physical Layer in the BI Administration Tool. So don't understand why I am getting this error.
    I have also activated the nquery.log but that doesn't really give me any further information.

    Hi Rajagopal,
    Thanks for your reply after doing some further investigations this morning I found and corrected the problem...
    The DataDirect Driver does not like double quotes in the query for some reason, testing  using the BI Answers generated SQL with the nqcmd tool below...
    With double quotes “” it fails immediately
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
    select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
    [102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'Id'.
    Statement execute failed
    With double quotes removed for just the columns I now get the Error near ‘ETMS_Users’ which still had the double quotes
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    [102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'ETMS_Users'.
    Statement execute failed
    With all double quotes removed it works !
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    c1           c2
    42499        trowe
    Row count: 1
    Give SQL Statement:
    The solution to fix the problem is...
    In the BI Admin Tool Physical Layer Database, Properties Features tab is to delete the double quote in the Value column for IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR, setting this in the DBFeatures.INI file does not resolve the problem possibly it did in earlier versions of the product.

  • Connection with Microsoft SQL Server version 7/2000

    Hello,
    I am a VB expert, but new in Oracle forms by starting from 6i.
    I am trying to get connected from oracle forms to Microsoft SQL server to get some data as batch job.
    Is some body can help me connecting to MS SQL Server, please.

    Hi,
    Create the odbc data source of SQL Server database and then while connecting through the Forms in the connection string write UserName/Password and host string as odbc:<odbc_Name>.
    Hope this will work.
    Regards
    gaurav

  • [[DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.]

    Hii ..
    need help on this ..
    This what I am doing ..
    I am using a DATAEXPORT function to export level0 data from my essbase 11.1.2.2 to Microsoft SQL 2008 tables.
    So what I did first I exported the level0 data to a flat file using DATAEXPORT and the created the SQL columns by the same  in that order only in my SQL table.
    When I run it fails with this error:
    ODBC Layer Error: [21S01] ==> [[DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition.]

    Total Calc Elapsed Time for [test.csc] : [1.44] seconds
    =============================================================
    I did a simple test on my Sample.basic application then ..
    loaded the calc data to it and then used the below script to export to a flat file
    //ESS_LOCALE English_UnitedStates.Latin1@Binary
    SET DATAEXPORTOPTIONS
                    DataExportLevel "Level0";
                    DataExportOverwriteFile ON;
                    DataExportColFormat OFF;
                    DataExportDimHeader OFF;
    FIX(
                "Jan",
                "Sales",
                "Actual"
    /*DATAEXPORT "File" "," "/home/hypadmin/samtest.txt";*/
    DATAEXPORT "DSN" "Abhitest" "sample" "sa" "welcome1";
    ENDFIX
    out put as below:
    "Sales"
    "100-30","California"
    "Jan","Actual",145
    Now In sql I created only 3 columns with name Jan/Sales/Actual and when I run this script again with comments removed .. I get the same error as what I have got in my first test case with other application ..
    but when I create the columns with same name as what its in export
    Sales/100-30/Califirnia/Jan/Actual
    It created the new rows successfully ..
    So with this I think the error which I am getting with my other application might be because of the same column issue  .. but then I have created all the columns by looking at the export file only as I did in sample ..
    Any idea would be helpful ..
    Thanks
    Abhishek
    I

    First make sure you add
    DataExportRelationalFile ON;
    to your set commands it is missing
    I alwats like to also add
    DataExportColHeader dimensionName;
    so I am sure what dimension is getting put into the columns.
    Then count the number of dimensions in your outline (exclude attribute dimensions). You need at least that many columns in your table  -1 + the number of  members you will be returning as columns in the export
    Taking your example Sample basic has 5 dimensions
    Measures
    Years
    Scenario
    Product
    Market
    Since you did not specify a dataexportcolheader it took the dense dimension Scenario as the columns. Your fix statement is limiting that to one member. Doing the math
    5 -1 + 1 = 5 columns in your table which is what you found works.  Suppose you fixed on bothe Actual and budget in scenario then you would need 6 columns 5 -1 +2
