OIM 11g: Display Server Name

Is there any way, through configuration or UI customization to add the host name of the server to the Web UI?
We have a load balancer in front of 3 OIM servers, and not knowing which server were on is making troubleshooting issues very difficult.
For example, we have a load balanced URL: http://oim.company.com which sends requests to servers oim1.company.com, oim2.company.com and oim3.company.com.
It be very helpful to see the oim1, oim2 or oim3 displayed somewhere in the UI.
Thanks.

2. 3. Third is all about personal experience and convenience. Agreed & my personal exp is that this OOTB Display Field is used at lot many places in UI and code; thus those functionalities would break if someone goes for UDF solution.

  • Display Server Name on the title of the WINDOW : Best Way to Implement

    our weblogic is deployed in a clustered environment(group of weblogic instances)(say for eg) Server01,Server02,Server03). Every time the request will go to any one of the weblogic instances. Now i need to display the server name on the title of the IE window.
    Web Application : - Server02(request 1)
    Web Application : - Server03(request 2)
    For that i've followed the following approach.
    <filter>
    <filter-name>AppFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>com.src.app.AppFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>AppFilter</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    All request will go thro' the filter.
    In filter, dofilter method of AppFilter, set the server name as below.
    request.setAttribute("HOSTNAME", (" " + InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName()));
    In all jsp title,do the following.
    <title>WEB Application <%= request.getAttribute("HOSTNAME") %></title>
    This is working fine. I would like to know, if there's any better way of doing this?

    Thanks for all your replies
    user13118480,
    We have one admin server and 3 managed servers.
    3 managed servers are in different machines(sprd01,sprd02,sprd03).
    we have a big ip configured against these managed servers. we expose only the big ip to the end user.
    Based on load, the admin server will route the request to any one of the managed servers.
    Reason for displaying the server name on window
    The reason for displaying the Server Name (m/c name where managed server is running) on the window , is to help the developers to find out
    the current logs.
    log (app.log - logger file - log4j ) will go to sprd01,sprd02,sprd03.
    now if we display the servername on the window, then we can direct go the machine and look for the logs.
    otherwise,developer has to search for all in all the boxes.(sprd01,sprd02,sprd03)
    Questions:
    --Now i would like here more abt the Host HTTP header.
    *1. is my approach to retreive the host machine name is good? is there any other simple way to get the host name?*
    *2. as per your answer, are you asking me to get the host name from httpheader. request.getRemoteHost()?*
    *3. is there any way i can set the title of the browser window from filter itself instead of setting requestAttribute in filter and reading the same in*
    all the jsp's?
    4. Is there any better way to implement this requirement?
    baftos,
    Reason for using a filter.
    Tomorrow if i dont want to display the machine name in the window,
    then all i need to do , is to change the filter statement as follows, instead of changing all the jsp's.
    request.setAttribute("HOSTNAME", "");

  • OIM 11g - Display Name policy

    Hi,
    may you help to find where is the default "policy" that compute and set the OIM User attribute named Display Name = <First Name> + <blank> + <Last Name>? Can I change that default behavior?
    Thanks,

  • OIM 11g R2 Exporting UDF without sandbox!

    Hi, I'm trying to export the UDFs att from a User Form, but I lost the sandbox whit i make the customizations.
    Is there any way to recover the Sandbox or export this att to another OIM 11g r2 Server??
    Regards!!

    If you create new sandbox and modify any UDF and export that sandbox before publishing.
    Once you publish sandbox of UDF and then you try to export sandbox in that case you will lost your UDF changes.
    For UDF's always export sandbox before publishing sandbox. so that you have exported sandbox which you can import into another environment.

  • Welogic 9.2 jdbc connection pool monitoring section not displaying server

    Welogic 9.2 managed jdbc connection pool monitoring section not displaying server name. Can you please let me know how can i achive this

    Hi,
    It happens if the Connectivity is Lost b/w DataBase & WLS Server...In that case in the WLS AdminConsole---DataSource---Monitoring Tab you wont see even the Testing Page with valid datasource to test it.
    So please make sure that the N/W connectivity proper....One more thing you can try:
    <h3><font color=red>Test-1</font></h3>
    You can use *“weblogic.Admin”* utility to Enable and Disable the Pool (DataSource) Just to Confirm whether the dataSource is actually active or not::
    Step1). run *"setWLSEnv.sh"* first in the same Shell prompt....then do the following:
    Step2). To suspend:
    java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic SUSPEND_POOL YourDataSourceName
    Step3). To re-enable:
    java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic RESUME_POOL YourDataSourceName
    To test whether you are getting any Exception or Error while doing this....If yes u are getting any Error or exception then It means there May be some Database connectivity issue...
    <h3><font color=red>Test-2</font></h3>
    Please use the following Utility to Test the Database connectivity from your WLS Server box:
    <font color=maroon>
    java -classpath /opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2/weblogic92/server/lib/weblogic.jar -Dbea.home=/opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2   utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN DbUserName DBPassword somethingDbUrl.Something.net:1521:dbInstance
    </font>
    Syntax:
    java   -classpath /opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2/weblogic92/server/lib/weblogic.jar   -Dbea.home=/opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2   utils.dbping   ORACLE_THIN   <DBUserName>   <DBPassword>   <DBURL>
    The above utilty will test the DB Connectivity ...you need to run it from your WLS server Box...

  • OIM 11g Server Configuration Wizard Error - Cannot Connect to Oracle DB

    I appreciate any and all suggestions or thoughts on how to best continue troubleshooting this error that I am describing below.
    I am attempting to install Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite 11g on a Windows 7 machine…in following the installation guides I have successfully installed the following Oracle Components
    - Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0
    - Created Schemas using RCU 11.1.1.3.3
    - Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.3.0
    - Oracle SOA 11.1.1.2.0
    - Oracle SOA 11.1.1.3.0 (Patch Set)
    - Oracle IAM SUITE 11.1.1.3.0
    Following the above installations, I created a new WebLogic Domain and as the next step am running the OIM Configuration Wizard to configure the OIM Server, however I am unable to setup a connection to the Oracle DB via the OIM Configuration Wizard. I am getting an error message when attempting to setup the connection to the Oracle Database using the OIM 11g Server Configuration Wizard:
    ERROR:*
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    *+[DETAILS] Check the values. Make sure the Database is up and running and connect string, user name, and password are correct.+*
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    *+[DETAILS] Check the values. Make sure the Database is up and running and connect string, user name, and password are correct.+*
    When installing the Oracle Database 11gR2 I used the following install configuration:
    Oracle base: C:\MyApps\Oracle
    Software location: C:\MyApps\Oracle\DB_HOME\11.2.0\dbhome_1
    Database file location: C:\MyApps\Oracle\DB_HOME\oradata
    Database Edition: Personal Edition (3.27 GB)
    Character Set: Unicode (AL32UTF8)
    Global database name: orcl.dev.com
    Administrative Password: Password1
    Confirm Password: Password1
    When creating my Schemas using RCU 11.1.1.3.3 I used the following Database Connection Details
    DB TYPE: Oracle Database
    HOST NAME: localhost
    PORT: 1521
    SERVICE NAME: orcl.dev.com
    USERNAME: sys
    PASSWORD: Password1
    ROLE: SYSDBA
    I used a Prefix of “DEV” when creating the schemas so Schema Owners DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS where created. Also, I configured to use the same password for all Schemas: “Password1″. So the password for DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS should be the same, “Password1″.
    REPRODUCING THE ERROR
    To reproduce the error, when I launch the Oracle Identity Management 11g Configuration Wizard I am first brought to the “Welcome” Screen. I click the [Next>] button.
    Next, I am on the “Components to Configure” screen where I select OIM Server and OIM Design Console and click the [Next>] button. (NOTE I have also tested by simply selecting only the OIM Server)
    Next, I am on the “Database” screen where I enter the connection information
    Connection String: localhost:1521:orcl.dev.com
    (NOTE I have also tested using localhost:1521:orcl)
    OIM Schema User Name: DEV_OIM
    OIM Schema Password: Password1
    MDS Schema User Name: DEV_MDS
    MDS Schema Password: Password1
    When I click the [Next>] button after entering the Database Connection details I encounter the following two errors (1 error for each logon DEV_OIM and DEV_MDS)
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    INST:6102 Unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.
    TROUBLESHOOTING
    NOTE: I can successfully start the Oracle DB Services and connect via the Enterprise Console, SQL Plus, and JDBCTest Java Client…I just cannot get past this connection error in the OIM Server Configuration Wizard.

    Whenever installing oracle databases, i install the software only first. Then i setup the listener. Then i create a database instance using the dbca tool. This way all the information is added to the pre-existing listener configurations rather than trying to create the listener afterwards. Also, during the dbca database creation, i supply a full service name such as orcl.hostname and use the service name in future configurations where it asked. This usually solves any issues of the listener or database not being found correctly.

  • OIM 11g - Exception while starting server 'oim_server1'

    Hi all,
    We are trying to install the OIM 11g and having issues starting the OIM server (SOA and OAM server is alos not starting up) in the weblogic enterprise console.
    The error message we are getting is "Exception while starting server 'oim_server1'" ?
    Thanks

    I tried starting from command prompt and with nodemanager, but none of the options seems to work.
    I get the following error log:

  • How to obtain Role name in OIM 11g using API's

    Hello,
    I have a scenario in which I create Role/Group in OIM 11g & it gets provisioned in AD [=works fine] & other part is when i delete role in OIM 11g then it should
    get deleted from AD.I have written postprocess event handler to achieve this.
    In role creation part i get all parameters using "orchestration.getParameters();" , but when i delete role then "orchestration.getParameters();" is empty,so i am
    not able to get role name.
    Is there a way to get role name while deleting roles using API ?
    Thanks,
    Rahul Shah

    Hi Raghav,
    Following is my code :
    tcRODetails = orgOpInterface.getObjects(organizationKey);
    for(int i = 0;i < tcRODetails.getRowCount();i++){
    tcRODetails.goToRow(i);
    // resourceName=AD Group
    if(resourceName.equalsIgnoreCase(tcRODetails.getStringValue("Objects.Name"))&&
    tcRODetails.getStringValue("Objects.Object Status.Status").equalsIgnoreCase("Provisioned")||
    tcRODetails.getStringValue("Objects.Object Status.Status").equalsIgnoreCase("Enabled")) {
    System.out.println("<<<FOUND>>>");
    processKey = tcRODetails.getLongValue("Process Instance.Key");
    provisionObjectKey = tcRODetails.getLongValue("Objects.Key");
    tcProcessSet = oimFormUtility.getProcessFormData(processKey);
    for(int j=0;j<tcProcessSet.getRowCount();j++){
    tcProcessSet.goToRow(j);
    if(grpName.equalsIgnoreCase(tcProcessSet.getStringValue("UD_ADGRP_NAME"))){
    System.out.println("MATCH FOUND!!!!!");
    orgOpInterface.removeObjectAllowed(organizationKey,provisionObjectKey);
    break;
    & i get following error :
    <Mar 22, 2012 1:54:43 PM IST> <Error> <XELLERATE.APIS> <BEA-000000> <Class/Method: tcOrganizationOperationsBean/removeObjectAllowed encounter some problems: Object with key=7 is not already set as an allowed object for Organization with key=1>

  • Weblogic Managed server not starting after installing OIM 11g

    Hi All,
    I have installed OIM 11g successfully and I am able to start the WL Admin Server. But when I try to start the Managed Server for OIM (oim_server1), the screen just disappears and do not generate any logs.
    I haven't used the WL JDK while installing, used seperate JDK. Does it create any problem in starting the managed Server.
    Please help in solving this..
    Thanks,
    anag

    Hi,
    How are you starting the managed server, is it like this?
    xlStartManagedServer.cmd oim_server1 <URL of admin server>

    You need a separate email address but you've already ruled out that solution.

  • Without IT resource email Server config notification triggering in OIM 11g

    Hello Experts
    Its strange, in some of our environment. We haven't given any value for email server IT resource but still we are getting notification after user creation and so on. Not sure whether any default mail server comes with OIM 11g. We checked with environment team they are saying there is no mail server configured in oracle enterprise linux box by them.
    Could any one help us on this and provide your inputs ?
    Thanks
    DK

    Where are you checking the emails ??
    BTW , these notifications are OOTB and you turn them off by setting a System Property .
    Its something like Recon.SEND_NOTIFICATION , set it to false .
    But w/o email server , you shouldn't receive any email ..
    Thanks

  • OIM 11g+Database Application Tables Resource Connectors+ MS SQL Server 2008

    Hello Experts:
    I installed DBAT 9.1.0.5.0 Resource Adapter on Linux 64 bit server using OIM 11g, I try to create Generic Connectors to configure Target Resource for MS SQL Server 2008 and after entering all the information on the second screen and click continue the screen gets stuck. This does not throw any kind of error nor any error msg are written to Log files. It's been difficult to debug the problem or know the root cause since there is no error msg thrown. No data is written from the sql server.
    I can ping to the sql server and port are open.
    Do we have to do any kind of setting on sql server to make this work?
    Does any one have ideas? Did any one face any issues like this before?
    Has any one worked with OIM connections with SQL server?
    Just throwing all these question as I am running out of ideas.
    Much help appreciated.
    Thanks.
