OIM 11g R1 LDAP Synch with OID.

Hi,
We are doing an LDAP Synch with OID directly. The users from various organisations in OIM needs to be synched to different OU's in OID, instead of a single container. How do we acheive this? would it be easy if we involve OVD also?

Here is some sample code configuration which may give you a start - hope it helps.
Sample code that can be called in a pre-process event handler to copy the users organinisation to the LDAP Organization Unit
HashMap<String, Serializable> parameters = orchestration.getParameters();
Serializable param = parameters.get("act_key");
String act_key = null;
if (param instanceof ContextAware) {
act_key = ((ContextAware) param).getObjectValue().toString();
} else {
act_key = param.toString();
if (act_key != null) {
OrganizationManager orgMgr = Platform.getService(OrganizationManager.class);
Set<String> retAttrs = new HashSet<String>();
retAttrs.add("Organization Name");
Organization org = null;
try {
org = orgMgr.getDetails(act_key, retAttrs, false);
} catch (OrganizationManagerException e) {
} catch (AccessDeniedException e) {
String orgName = (String) org.getAttribute("Organization Name");
orchestration.addParameter("LDAP Organization Unit", orgName);
Sample container mapping rule
<rule>
<expression>LDAP Organization Unit=Test Organization</expression>
<container>ou=Test Organization,ou=users,o=org</container>
<description>Add user to the Test Organization OU in LDAP if their OU is set to Test Organization</description>
</rule>
Sample change in /db/LDAPUser
<!-- Two act_key entries in the <reconFields> section to set RECON_ACT_KEY. -->
<!-- The first sets RECON_ACT_KEY to the default value from the scheduled job -->
<!-- The second overwrites RECON_ACT_KEY with an OU value if supplied in the LDAP User data. -->

  • OIM 11g setXellerate password fails with weird message on massive usage

    Hi,
    i have set up trusted reconciliation from a database table with OIM 11g (11.1.1.3). Now, the default password is the concatenation of two other fields and i have built an adapter that uses the setXelleratePassword method to set the OIM user password an attached it to the xellerate reconciliation insert event. Now, when running the reconciliation, the password is correctly set only for the first 10 users or so, after which i get this error for every following event.
    <Apr 6, 2011 12:07:27 PM CEST> <Error> <oracle.iam.identity.usermgmt.impl> <BEA-000000> <The password change operation failed.>

    the error is quite generic, and does happen only when there is a "massive" reconciliation run. I thought about the open file limit and the connection pool max values, but in the logs there are no errors related
    What should i look at?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    Have you tried to change the reconciliation batch size to 1 or something?
    I had something similar with just one account getting updated by my post-process hanndler.
    Anyway how did you attach your adapter to the reconciliation insert event? I have been trying to do this but the list that comes back does include the adapter i have created when i tried to select and adapter to run.
    Please guide how you did on design console or gui.
    Thanks

    I don't think OIM 11g supports DSML profile and may be that's the reason you are getting NPE.
    See: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14309/spmlapi.htm#CHDCBJAI
    It states:
    "SPML has two profiles: the XSD profile and the DSML profile. This release of Oracle Identity Manager makes use of the XSD profile."

  • OIM 11G- Web Console- Problem with "Export Deployment Manager File"

    Experts,
    I am using gogle chrome browser on oim11g setup.
    I was able to Import/Export the objects using Import/Export Deployment Manager File.
    The reason why I opted for chrome is that I was unable to connect to login to the web console, it was just asking for userid and password and after some time, the browser(Internet Explorer 7) hangs on.
    And with FireFox 5.0.1, it is the same thing both import and export deployment manager file windows opens as soon as I click and they just close after 2-3 seconds.
    The problem now is after updating the java to "Version 6 Update 26 ", the Export Deployment Manager File stopped working. The window pop-ups and closes in 2 seconds.
    But Import Deployment Manager File is working fine with out any problems.
    The pop - up blocker is not enabled.
    And I am sure that it was working fine earlier with chrome before the java update.When I remove the updated java version, chrome is asking to download the latest java version.
    Any suggestions, that helps to work with chrome or firefox or IE?

    Venu,
    I have never had any luck getting anything after Version 6 update 23 to export properly. I would remove your updated Java and restore to a previous version of Java.

    I tried to use post process event handler on create but while updating password its saying the user state is not in synch with OID.
    So I am unable to use post process event handlers as well.

    Thanks Sunny,
    But the post process event handler with reset/update password is not working on CREATE;

    In 11.1.1.3 OIM, I found the password was available for mapping in GTC connector, but in OIM 11.1.1.5, oracle has removed the password mapping attribute.
    Can you please suggest?
    I checked with Oracle Support, They are saying in OIM 11.1.1.5 they have introduced a new post process event handler which should generate the password on every trusted reconcilication event.
    But in my environment its not behaving like that.

  • Export OIM 11g Resource object with dependencies

    Hi All,
    I am looking for sample code that will export all OIM 11g Resource objects along with dependencies into XML format. Can somebody help?
    I am using the below code to retreive all resource objects but don't have dependencies.
    FileWriter fstream = new FileWriter("OIMResources.xml");
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(fstream);
    tcExportOperationsIntf moExportUtility = (tcExportOperationsIntf) ioUtilityFactory

    Collection lstObjects = moExportUtility.findObjects(export_object, "*");
    String s = moExportUtility.getExportXML(lstObjects, "*");
    out.write(s);
    Thanks

    I am using the below code snippet to do the export of Resources.
    public Boolean export() {
         Boolean result = true;
         //String export_object = Util.config.getProperty(Constants.EXPORT_PATH);
         String export_object="Resource";
         /*if (export_object != null && !export_object.endsWith(File.separator)) {
         export_object = export_object.concat(File.separator);
         //String export_object_path = export_object.concat(xmlFile);
         try {
         FileWriter fstream = new FileWriter("OIMResources.xml");
         BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(fstream);
         tcExportOperationsIntf moExportUtility = (tcExportOperationsIntf) ioUtilityFactory.getUtility("Thor.API.Operations.tcExportOperationsIntf");
         Collection<RootObject> lstObjects = moExportUtility.findObjects(export_object, "*");
         System.out.println(lstObjects);
         lstObjects.addAll(moExportUtility.getDependencies(lstObjects));
         lstObjects.addAll(moExportUtility.retrieveChildren(lstObjects));
         lstObjects.addAll(moExportUtility.retrieveDependencyTree(lstObjects));
         String s = moExportUtility.getExportXML(lstObjects, "*");
         out.write(s);
         LOG.info(Resource + " Objects are successfully exported --------------->");
         out.close();
         } catch (Exception e) {
         LOG.log(Level.SEVERE, "Exception occured while exporting OIM object - " + Resource, e);
         return result;
    I am not getting its dependent objects as I was getting through OIM Deployment manager console. If I export the details through OIM console, the file size is around 3 MB. If I exported through above java code, file size is 300 KB only.
    Please let me know if I am missing anything.

  • OIM 11g Schedulars

    Hi OIM Experts,
    I am new to OIM. I have configured LDAP Sync with OID (11.1.1.5) and OIM (11.1.1.5).
    I need to delete all the users created in OIM under a particular OU. For Example: OU=Appadmin.
    Is there any default schedulars to configure this, to delete all the users under the Specified OU. And how the deleted users will be synced to OID. And also in OID, the users need to be deleted.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sandeep D.

    There's no OOTB the schedulers. And a syou said that you have LDAP Synch in place so when you delete users from OIM, it will delete users from OID as well ?
    Are you seeing different behavior ?

  • Without IT resource email Server config notification triggering in OIM 11g

    Hello Experts
    Its strange, in some of our environment. We haven't given any value for email server IT resource but still we are getting notification after user creation and so on. Not sure whether any default mail server comes with OIM 11g. We checked with environment team they are saying there is no mail server configured in oracle enterprise linux box by them.
    Could any one help us on this and provide your inputs ?
    Thanks
    DK

    Where are you checking the emails ??
    BTW , these notifications are OOTB and you turn them off by setting a System Property .
    Its something like Recon.SEND_NOTIFICATION , set it to false .
    But w/o email server , you shouldn't receive any email ..
    Thanks
    Suren

  • LDAP synch not supported during OIM upgrade from 9.x to 11g

    Hi Experts,
    Following line is mentioned in OIM upgrade guide for 9.x to 11g (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/upgrade.1111/e10129/upgrade_oim.htm)
    “LDAP Sync is not supported when you upgrade from Oracle Identity Management 9.1 to Oracle Identity Management 11g”
    Please help me in understanding the above line.
    I have a pretty simple setup of OIM (version 9.1.0.2) with AD and Exchange connected. I guess I don't have any impact of above line.
    LDAP synch is required when we integrate oracle identity manager with oracle access manager.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    M S

    Yes LDAP Sync has most of the features when you have OIM and OAM integrated with each other. You can go ahead with upgrade if LDAP Sync is not part of your requirement.

  • Bulk load in OIM 11g enabled with LDAP sync

    Have anyone performed bulk load of more than 100,000 users using bulk load utility in OIM 11g ?
    The challenge here is we have OIM 11.1.1.5.0 environment enabled with LDAP sync.
    We are trying to figure out some performance factors and best way to achieve our requirement
    1.Have you performed any timings around use of Bulk Load tool. Any idea how long will it take to LDAP sync more than 100,000 users into OID. What are the problems that we could encounter during this flow ?
    2.Is it possible we could migrate users into another environment and then swap this database for the OIM database? Also is there any effective way to load into OID directly ?
    3.We also have some custom Scheduled Task to modify couple of user attributes (using update API) from the flat file. Have you guys tried such scenario after the bulk load ? And did you face any problem while doing so ?
    Thanks
    DK

    to Update a UDF you must assign a copy value adpter in Lookup.USR_PROCESS_TRIGGERS(design console / lookup definition)
    eg.
    CODE --------------------------DECODE
    USR_UDF_MYATTR1----- Change MYATTR1
    USR_UDF_MYATTR2----- Change MYATTR2

    In this case user is getting created in OIM but LDAP Synch is not happening we are getting the error as mentioned above.
    When we create user in OIM  not through Web Serives but through Identity Self Service and provide any date attribute for example Start Date,Provisoning Date, Deprovisoning Date or any other date attribute, then also we are geeting the same error of Error in attribute conversion operation Issue, in this case user is not getting created in OIM and LDAP Synch is not happening.
    And when we create a user in OIM not through Web Serives but through Identity Self Service  and did not give any of the date attribute then user is getting created and LDAP synch is also happening successfully.
    We need to create users through Web Services and we need to resolve this issue asap, request you all to provide any helpful pointer on this.
    Thanks
    Varsha

    This can happen due to OIM-LDAP wrong attribute mapping/value getting passed.
    Can you please first try with OOTB attributes and see how it behaves?

    Hi Khanh,
    [This is not good for my use case.  I don't want the users from OID to be created in OIM]
    Remember this Ldap Sync we use when we want all users in OID -OIM to be in Synch. Otherwise you should have disabled Ldap Sync and used OID 11g Connector.
    So if you want to link users in OIM using OID process form/resouce, then its must to use OID 11g Connector.
