On a Multiple Boot iMac, FireFox is getting fonts from wrong partition

I run FireFox on an iMac. I have a primary partition on the build-in harddrive. Using an external harddrive, I've build another system on Snow Leopard on which I can do experiemtns safe from my main system (safe if I be reasonably careful). One of the issues is doing this is that applications that offer to update themselves do so when I'm in the 'wrong' boot. I should refuse to do it then. But I think I did so. Now adays when I startup FireFox, it is asking permission to use fonts on the boot partition of my alternate system. Using Font Book on my main system I see that the main system has fonts of the same name and probably same font data.
How do I fix the configuration of FireFox on the main partition to look for and find the fonts in the fonts installed in that boot parition?

Move all User fonts in Font Book to Computer fonts.
# Launch Font Book (/Applications/Utilities/)
# Open Font Book > Preferences
# Deselect: "Automatic Font Activation"
# Set the "Default Install Location" for fonts to "Computer"
# Select all User fonts
# Move the selected User fonts to Computer fonts
# Remove all duplicate fonts in Computer fonts

Can't get fonts from windows to come up in CS4 photoshop

Hello, I have CS4 photoshop extended, and i can't get the fonts that come with Windows Vista to come up on CS4 photoshop also i have illustrator CS4 and i get the same response on the fonts over there. I tried copying the fonts from windows to the fonts folder in adobe and it just kicks it out. The fonts i am trying to load is Arial Black,Arial bold, helevitica, just to name a few, i don't want to have to pay for those fonts if i already have them. Any suggestions? Tim McCuiston

Be aware that some fonts are listed under different names in Adobe programs and that some show the main name to the left window and the variations in the right.

Get data from two partitions

I want to do a query that returns data only from last two partitions
I have this select that returns data from one partition only.

I would like to have something like this for example...

Usually the partition is divided by 15 days. starts in the begin of the month and ends in 15th of the same month.
Partition column: DATA_CRIACAO

Can I control which sites Firefox does 'get's from or not?

So many websites you visit put either a 1px by 1px "image" or iframe in the code Firefox reads. Firefox is designed to fetch or execute a 'get' command for each image tag it sees, whether the image is at the same host as the website or somewhere around the world from it. These one pixel 'images' and iframes are of course not meant to be noticed. Their purpose is to force a browser go and 'get' them. That URL then puts a cookie or other junk on your computer to do other sorts of snooping, like recording where you've browsed earlier to discover what your buying 'weaknesses' are, where you live and who knows what else..
I have Firebug so I can see all this crap on pages, but I don't know enough to design my own browser controls with it. I know Firefox has an add on, but it only works if the site you're on is courteous enough to comply with your wishes. I for one, don't trust anyone when it comes to making big bucks. For instance I detest Microsoft's service for advertisers, http://s0.2mdn(dot)net.
And this is just one of hundreds of such services growing every day.

ICal on iMac doesn't get updates from MobileMe - does update to MobileMe

I use an iMac and an iPhone and sync using MobileMe. The syncing works without a problem between the iPhone and MobileMe but not the iCal syncing (address book works fine) between the iMac and MobileMe. When I add something to iCal on my iMac it goes to MobileMe and turns up on my iPhone but things added on my iPhone does not appear on my iMac (it does go to MobileMe though). I've tried Reset Sync Data where I've ticked the replace calendars on iMac with calendars from MobileMe but still it doesn't turn up in my iCal on the iMac. I've unregistered and re-registered the iMac, I've scrapped the preferences and anything else I can think of (and read) but nothing works. Any ideas? Please! I feel rather desperate by now...
Another minor problem I have is that on my iPhone I have a subscribed calendar that has turned up as one of my calendars. It's empty and doesn't really do any harm (that I know of) but it's annoying. The subscribed one with the same name still works as it should. How do I get rid of the one that now looks like it's one of mine? It doesn't exist when I log into MobileMe or on my iMac.
Desperately hoping someone can help me, especially with problem no 1....

What all USB devices do you have connected?
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then see if it sleeps & wakes in Safe Mode.

Is there a change in the way Firefox 4 displays fonts from CSS?

This site is coded using standard CSS and had Arial Narrow as first font choice for certain elements. In Firefox 4 / Windows 7 those instances are now defaulting to secondary font - Arial or to the default font Times Roman. EVERY other browser including past Firefox have displayed Arial Narrow properly - assuming the user has it in their system fonts - which is the vast majority of visitors. NEED a fix for this!

[Solved]Firefox 3.5 Fonts gone wrong

Since the upgrade to 3.5 my firefox fonts have messed up. Seems to be a problem with hinting not being taken from gnome font preferences no-more.
I updated cairo and applied the lcd patch to it myself but firefox fonts still remain the same.
I have read ppl on ubuntu have had the same problem but the fix found there wont work with arch.
Any ideas?

Here's another example. I have completely stripped ~/.fonts.conf to contain only the basic settings (no exceptions, conditions, etc.):

I run a minimal X desktop (dwm). No gnome-settings-daemon. No font settings declared in .Xdefaults either. I manage everything via ~/.fonts.conf and every other application looks great.

How do you get past the create partition step? Trying to indtall Windows 7 using Boot Camp 5

Trying to install Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Currently run Win7 using VMware but experiencing poor performance and lockup. Have tried to use Boot Camp but cannot get past the 'creating partition' step. The blue bar shows some progress (about 10%), but then after some time it produces a generic error message thst it cannot create the partition.

Hold the option while turning on the computer. You should see your statup drives. Just choose the OS X drive and eject your disc once in OS X.

My Powerbook was the same. Only fix is to reinstall OSX from the install CD but be sure not to pick the Format and install clean. Once you boot with the install CD pick the preserve user data and settings.
On My machine the reinstall looked perfect. My network, email, files and all the programmes were all there. Most apps worked fine but Adobe CS2, Virtual PC and NetBarrier all needed reinastallation as they reported a few files or registration was missing. I went for the 10.4.3 upgrade again and it worked fine.

Have you selected which disk you want to boot from? In System Preferences, click startup disk and choose the drive you want as your default boot drive.
