Onchange with javascript

Hi,
I created a dynamic action on a field that execute a javascript code if a condition is met. the code set's the value of a field on an onchange event. I want to remove the onchange event in the field if the condition is not met. Can you let me know how this can be done?
true action:
function makeReadOnly()
document.getElementById('P1_X').value = origVal;
var origVal = document.getElementById('P1_X').value;
false action
document.getElementById('P1_X').onChange=null; --- this does not remove the onchange event on the lov

Hi,
can you not use JQuery ? It is pretty much easier to add/remove events :
true action:
function makeReadOnly() {
     $('#P1_X').val(origVal);
var origVal = $('#P1_X').val();false action
$('#P1_X').unbind('change');But if you want to use simple JavaScript, try replacing onChange to onchange (JavaScript is case sensitive):
document.getElementById('P1_X').onchange=null;
