Open a PDF file.
Save it under a different name
Try to delete a page
You'll get this error:
"One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted"
I've had this billions of times now and the only solution that works 100% of the time is closing and re-opening the file. This leads me to believe it's something with "locking" the file while saving, but not unlocking it after done saving.
GET THIS FIXED PLEASE because it's annoying LOADS and LOADS of people.
As evident by the 7000+ search results for the exact phrase "One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted".
And that's just the part of the userbase that actually reports the problem.
There are several topics about this issue, some marked as "solved" erroneously.
Note, I'm a paying customer, use Photoshop/Illustrator/Dreamweaver/Fireworks and Bridge during my daily work, and have had this issue for months and months across several different computers (two different workplaces, and at home) and have ran into this time and again, when all I want to do is cut a PDF into several smaller PDFs.
Closing and re-opening your program because you're unable to fix this issue is NOT ACCEPTABLE. It's THE WORST kind of user experience, as this issue is the ONLY reason I use Acrobat at all, and it can't even do that.

Yup.  I get this problem too.  And I'm posting in April of 2015, so I see this problem has existed a long time.  Acrobat "Pro" (ha ha) is full of stupid, annoying problems.  And the interface is clunky.  I'm going use PDF Split and Merge to remove the page I'm struggling with.  Ridiculous that Adobe Acrobat Pro cannot remove one page from a PDF file.  I am NEVER upgrading this product.  I am done with Adobe.

    I am an experience user from 4 to now 9 standard.  At work when extracting pages from a block scan I keep getting "one or more pages are in use and could not be deleted" it does not extract the pages but deletes some and leave some in the master document.  This happens on a regular basis and is so frustrating when trying to split a block document into individual ones. This is on adobe 9 professional... Process is 3500 pages document, open up the page tab to see the pages. Highlight the first and last page of the document you want to extract. Right click and select extract, tick the box delete after extracting.  Some times it works and a lot of the time I get the error above.  I have google’d this error and there seems to be no feedback to cover the reason as to why it creates this error and what does it mean?

I updated my Acrobat to the 10.1.4 release and i was still having the problem. I finally fixed it by disabling the Win XP compatability feature that i had enabled in the properties of the Acrobat executable. I had enabled this feature a couple of months ago as a fix to this specific problem, now it's not necessary.
    Environ: Win 7 32-bit and Acrobat X, 10.1.4.

    I want to eject an external hard drive (actually my time machine hard drive). Time Machine is finished but the drive activity has not and is sucking the speed out of my computer (as it always does when Time Machine is active).

    The drive is not in use. All I have open is Safari, TextEdit and Word. All documents are on my main hard drive. How do I find out what program it THINKS is using it, or do I just have to give up and lose all my pages of information?
    This is actually a continuing problem. I hate to lose all my data to keep restarting the computer because of this drive.

    If you have the problem where you can’t empty the Trash or eject a disk because something is preventing you? Usually the reason is because some application has a file open, and thus you can’t get rid of the disk or trash the file. Then use What’s Keeping Me! What’s Keeping Me will identify the application that is preventing you from accomplishing your task.   • "A disk on [computer] is in use and could not be ejected."

    Yesterday I was doing a few things and needed to connect to my desktop iMac (running Tiger). When I did I was surfing through the applications folder on that computr when I accidentally opened iTunes. It did open, so I quit it. Anyway, then I ejected the disc, but it wouldn't eject. So I just ignored it and did a softyware update that had been nagging me, then after that I shut the computer down but it wouldn't shut down. The menu went and everything but the cursor remained on screen as did the default background, I didn't have time to sit there waiting for it do whatever it was doing so I just held the power button down and forced it to turn off.
    Now though, whenever I turn the computer on, it always opens a window immdiatly after loading asking me to enter the password to connect to my iMac. I can just click cancel but a lot of the time I don't want it connected all the time. If I do connect to it at the start, I cannot disconnect from it. If I click on the disk in the Finder window and click Disconnect it just ignores me and if I click on the eject button next to the disk it comes up with the error in the subject line: "A disk on [computer name] could not be ejected because it is in use." Or something along those lines anyway.
    Confusingly, if I click cancel to the enter password window that appears at start up, I can use the computer as normal, I can even connect to the iMac normally and disconnect from it.
    Any ideas how I can stop it doing this? Does it have something to do with me opening iTunes on the other computer? Thanks.

  • Validate that one or more checkbox are ticked.

    Currently I'm checking if the user has ticked at least one of the checkboxes by using:
    if(CheckBox1.rawValue == 0 && CheckBox2.rawValue == 0){

    Is there a way to count the number of checkboxes and do a loop. If you have 15 checkboxes the code above gets a bit hard to read.
    I've also use the <validate nullTest="error"/> in the xml to flag the checkbox as being required but this is not true. As long as one or more checkboxes are select the user should not be alerted or shown that checkboxes are not selected. Is there a way to highlight the checkboxes?

    This is what I would do.....
    1. Set up a Global Variable under File>>Form Properties>>Variables Tab
         //Variable declared here are always considered string
         Example: GCheckCount and set the initial value 0
    2. For each CheckBox I would add the following code under "change" event

         GCheckCount.value = "" + GCheckCount.value + 1;
    }else {
         GCheckCount.value = "" + GCheckCount.value - 1;
    3. Also for each CheckBox I would add the following code under "docReady" event to get the initail count

    4. When you validate do the following

    You are missing one or more photos - youprobably have a page background that requires a photo which is behind a page with photos on it - all pages must either have a photo or be a color - if you have a gray background it requires a photo - look through the book carefully and be sure to look at the background on any full page photos - you will find one or more missing photos

    There is one or more missing photo - typically a page background requiring a photo that is hidden behind a layout with photos in it - look through every page for that - any page tha thas a grey background rather than color is a problem - and it ccan be behind a full page photo so you have to check the page background rather than just look at the page

    well, you're the first one I''m seen reporting this, so that makes me think it is unique to your PC. So I doubt an updated iTunes version is going to "fix" this.
    The way to find things like this is by using MSCONFIG as explained in these directions. But it is tedious to find it, requires a lot of PC restarting. You said it's not a big deal, so you might not want to spend the time.

    I bought a new Sony Vaio Laptop running Windows 8, 64bit, i7 processor.  Everytime I open iTunes and then close out, the following message occurs: (i-tunes message - One or more applications are using the iTunes scripting interface. Then it starts counting down from 20 seconds unless I just click on the (Quit) button.  How do I get this to stop?  Please be specific, I am challenged when it comes down to computers.

    This was extremely annoying for me, also.  I started uninstalling unneeded Sony applications to try to narrow down the problem.  It turned out not to be a Sony application... it is some functionality built into the bluetooth driver software package by Broadcom.  Uninstalling the bluetooth package (via the control panel) takes care of the problem.  Itunes also boots up way quicker.  But uninstalling it will remove features related to bluetooth and nfc.   For me, that isn't an issue, since I don't use them.  Since you said you're "computer challenged" I would probably just send an email to sony complaining about the problem.  They'll get in touch with Broadcom eventually (the manufacture of the drivers) and get the problem fixed.
    Side note: the Broadcom package is huge...  nearly 1GB in size.  Which is crazy.  I can't imagine what it does considering the size of it.  Entire operating systems can take up less storage.  Also, I have no idea how it starts an itunes plugin without placing it into the standard plugin directories.

    As far as I can see I have placed pictures on all the pages. I admit that on some pages I could have placed 3 or 4 pictures but I chose to use ony one or two. Could that be the problem?

    The error seems pretty clear - you must have a photo in evey photo frame in order to place your order - so you must either change the layout (if you only want one photo on a page then use a layout with one photo) or put photos in the spots you have not filled

    I am not sure where to exactly post this question.  On the SQL Server side or on a SharePoint side.
    I am a SQL Server Database Administrator who is monitoring some SharePoint databases.  On a daily basis it seems that they are creating new databases but don't delete the databases that they are no longer using.  For example, they might be testing
    on a development server and if things aren't working properly instead of asking that the databases be deleted they just go ahead and create new databases to do what ever they need to do.  Is there a way on the SQL Server side to determine which SharePoint
    databases are being used and which ones aren't being used?  Or does one determine this information through the SharePoint Central Administration console?

    Mine is doing the same thing.  I deleted the whole account from the mail settings and it got rid of most of the extra calendars.  But there are still 2 gibberish ones left.
