One RFC Lookup for numerous messages

Hello
I send large number of idocs in one message from ECC to XI and then processing EDI file on the filesystem
my question is if I want to make one rfc lookup to convert the quanitiy unit  for all idocs at the same time (one call) is it possible  with PI 7.1 ?  and how
thx

  • Message-Mapping: Use same RFC lookup for different target fields

    Hello,
    I need to apply an RFC Lookup which delivers a boolean flag back (true or false). This RFC lookup should be used for different target fields.
    Is there a way to execute the RFC lookup just once and then store the result in an internediate variable that I can use for all futher checks for different target fields?
    If this is not possible and I have to apply the RFC lookup for all necessary target fields is it then executed for each target field ? This is exactly what I want to avoid in order not to slow down performance.
    The input parameter (=source field value) would be the same.
    Thank you for your advice!

    Exactly.
    Here is a UDF example I have that you could adapt to your needs.
    Set
    public String setCounter(String a,String b,Container container){
    /* Store values in global datacontainer
    a: mapping value and return valueparameter
    b: name for stored value parameter
    GlobalContainer myGlobalContainer;
    myGlobalContainer = container.getGlobalContainer();
    myGlobalContainer.setParameter(b.toUpperCase(), a);
    return a;
    Get
    public String getCounter(String a,Container container){
       //write your code here
    GlobalContainer gc = container.getGlobalContainer();
    if (gc.getParameter(a) != null) {
      return String.valueOf(gc.getParameter(a));
    } else {
    return "1";

  • RFC Lookup's in message mapping fail with RuntimeException for no reason

    Hi guys,
    We have developed interfaces that execute a lot of RFC's from Message Mapping, by making use of RFC Lookup API.
    In ID, in the corresponding RFC Receiver Communication Channel we have set the number of maximum connections to 100.
    However, when a big number of Idocs with lots of items is sent to XI some messages fail in XI because mapping fails with a runtime exception that is not correct, since there is a return value found from the execution of the RFC function. And when I am testing the mapping in Test mode of XI IR, the mapping is executed successfully.
    Do you think that by increasing the maximum number of connections in Communication Channel, it will take effect?

  • Urgent: RFC Lookup for BAPI in XI

    Hi,
    I am trying to call a BAPI that exists in XI system,in the Message Mapping in same XI system.
    If I run the BAPI,it is working fine.
    But if I call this in XI Message Mapping using RFC lookup,it returns garbage.
    I am not getting any RFC error.
    Can anyone please tell me what could be the reason for this.

  • F110 - One payment document for numerous vendors

    Hi,
    I know it is possible to create in F110 one document for all payments for one vendor.
    Recently I was askedy by Finance to allow to create in F110 one document that combines payments all vendors open items that have the same payment method. I have never had such requirement before.
    Is it possible and if yes how can I set it up?
    Many thanks,
    Karol

    Hi,
    The requirement is not feasible practically, as if you create only one payment document for all vendors with same payment method, how will you pass on the payment data to bank for making payment to different vendors. (as each vendor would be having different bank details.)
    In case you do not want to pass on the payment data to bank, and just want to make posting in FI for payment, then you can link all the vendors to a head office vendor (Head Office - Branch Concept) and can then make a single payment document for all the vendors linked to the main vendor.

  • F4 lookup for Broadcast Messaging in CRM 5.0

    Hi Gurus,
    We have Broadcast Messaging configured and working for CRM 5.0, ready to be transported from our Development system through to our QA system for further testing.
    However, when using the F4 lookup to add users to a distribution list, if we re-order the list and select a user it selects the user that was in that position before the list was reordered.  Has anybody found anything about this bug, because I cannot find anything in the forums or in SAP Notes?
    Also, we do not have checkboxes to select users, but have to add them one at a time - I'm not sure if this is poor design or a bug - does anybody know?
    Thanks,
    Andrew G.

    John,
    Many thanks for your reply.
    I had decided to raise an OSS note for this and they are now looking at it.  I have also raised the issue that users have to be added to the distribution lists one at a time, and I believe this is also being looked at as "missing functionality".
    I'm surprised nobody else has noticed this.
    Thanks again for your reply,
    Andrew Griffin.

  • RFC Lookup using Java Mapping program - Examples

    Dear Experts,
    I am working on a scenario which is using 1:N mapping. For deciding the target message I have to use RFC Lookup to call the backend ERP system and there are 2 ERP systems involved in this integration. As I am using Java Mapping and never did a RFC Lookup in Java. I kindly request you to give me some examples which I could use for my RFC calls in my Java Mapping. Simple example will do.
    Client is adamant to use Java mapping, I could achieve this easily using XSLT or Graphical Mapping.
    Advance Thanks,
    Pradeep

    Hello,
    why don't you use Extended Receiver Determination Defining Extended (Dynamic) Receiver Determination - Integration Directory - SAP Library?
    What you can do is create a Message Mapping between your source message and Receivers message type. In this message mapping you can use your RFC to generate the target message.
    For example, lets say we have the function ZFM_GET_INTERFACE_INFO used to generate the List of Receivers given a source message. You could create a Message Mapping as below:
    In this case, the RFCLookup box look as below:
    The receiver determination configuration would look as follows:
    Afterwards, you will need two specific message mappings for the two ERP systems.
    Summarizing, you'll need:
    1.- A Message Mapping: Source Message to Receivers Message Type (This one uses the RFC Lookup)
    2.- A Message Mapping: Source Message to Target Message for ERP 1
    3.- A Message Mapping: Source Message to Target Message for ERP 2
    In Integration Directory you'll have 1 Receiver Determination(Source system, Target System determined Dynamically) and 2 Interface Determinations (Source System to ERP1, Source System to ERP2), etc.
    I hope you find it useful.
    Regards!

  • PI 7.1 EHP1: RFC lookup does not pass the parameter values

    Hi,
    I am not sure if anyone came cross this issue:
    This is IDOC -> PI -> File scenario
    IDOC sender side, we used IDOC packaging, means in one message, we have mutiple IDOCs.
    There is RFC lookup function in message mapping, it takes 8 parameters. There are four contants value and four queue passed.
    We would like to call the RFC lookup for each IDOC sent.
    Saying we sent 10 IDOCs, the RFC was called 10 times, this is expected behavior.
    However, in 8 parameters, we miss four parameters values even we passed values
    Regards.
    Liang

    J Augastine:
    Thanks for the input.
    In blog, it talked about one RFC call for a mapping.
    In my situation, we need to multiple times of RFC, since this is EDI scenario, some elements need to be incremented.
    Previously, this RFC works without any problem. However we increased 4 parameters, for those parameter added laterly, it does not carry the value to RFC call, I tried to removed the function from ESR and re-import the RFC, but it still does not help.
    I also tried to pass constant value or queue value, it all does not help.
    Regards.

  • JNDI lookup for UserTransaction

              Hi all,
              in Weblogic, in a typical scenario, do a client provide exactly
              one JNDI lookup for the UserTransaction object (interface) or do
              the client have to provide a JNDI lookup for each transaction?
              In some EJB implementations, a JNDI lookup for UserTransaction
              returns always the same reference. For example, in JOnAS, you can
              have one static reference which is set when the client starts.
              Then, more threads can simultaneously use the same static
              UserTransaction reference without any conflict, since the
              implementation of UserTransaction recognizes, which thread invoked
              a particular method.
              In other words, can I make an assumption that two different JNDI
              lookups for UserTransaction returns different references or not?

    Actually, UserTransaction is a singleton and it's not a transaction. It's just
              very mis-named.
              It should be called UserTransactionManager or UserInterfaceToJTA.
              The actual transaction is javax.transaction.Transaction.

  • Parsing in RFC lookup

    Hi All,
    I have wriiten a RFC lookup for mapping the company code. But I am not getting the result while parsing the XML. I have tested the code and without parsing I am getting the correct value in XML. Can anybody send the code for parsing the XML data using DOM.
    Below is the code which I am using .
    try {
            docResponse = builder.parse(in);
            if (docResponse == null) {
                    importanttrace.addWarning("docResponse is null");
    res =  docResponse.getElementsByTagName("COMPANYID").item(0).getFirstChild().getNodeValue();
    if (res == null) {
                    importanttrace.addWarning("res is null");
    catch (Exception e) {
          importanttrace.addWarning("Error when parsing RFC Response - " + e.getMessage());
    try {
            // Free resources, close the accessor..
            if (accessor != null) {
                    try {
                            accessor.close();
                    } catch (LookupException e) {
                            importanttrace.addWarning( "Error while closing accessor " + e.getMessage());
    } catch (Exception e) {
            importanttrace.addWarning("Result value not found in DOM - " + e);
    // return the result obtained above
    return res;
    Thanks,
    Aparna

    Maybe it's really just the typo in your element name and everything works fine when you use:
    res = docResponse.getElementsByTagName("COMPANY_CODE").item(0).getFirstChild().getNodeValue();
    And I think method <em>getTextContent()</em> should also do the trick of the two calls you're using:
    res = docResponse.getElementsByTagName("COMPANY_CODE").item(0).getTextContent();

    Hi Experts ,
                            This is a very urgent requirement .I wish to know RFC Lookup feature in Message Mapping came into existence from which service Pack in PI 7.0.Was it in SP18/19?? please reply .

    i think the lookup API are part of SP13 onwards. ( i.e. prior to 7.1), reference: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/2219
    from 7.1 onwards, few lookups like RFC Lookup are provided as standard functions in message mapping.

    Hi Miloslav,
    Technically, it will work that you define one common RFC user in your SolMan for communication (RFC BACK destination) from all connected managed systems.
    BUT, I would never recommend it.
    Once a managed system cause issues in your SolMan, you are not able (or at least it's much more difficult) to identify the managed system. Same happens, if a invalid password in the BACK destination leads to a locked user.
    My recommendation: Spend the extra effort in creating a user per managed system. Operation will be much easier later.
