'One' To 'Many' relationship, (with the 'One' shared between persistance object graphs)

Hi,
I'm relatively new to JDO. So I need some verification on my program design.
When creating a new Persistence Object I'm using a 'Builder' design pattern
to check the database for an object that equals the new objects bean
parameters(Via a JDOQL query). If it finds a matching one it loads it
otherwise it creates a new instance.
This way I have common objects between Persistence Object graphs. And there
is not repeated common objects in the database.
Is there a better way?

Graham Cruickshanks

// Doesn't workWhat does not work? What error do you get?
You need to use "join" to define a join.
CriteriaQuery<Competence> cq = cb.createQuery(Competence.class);
Root<Competence> competence = cq.from(Competence.class);
Join<CompetenceName> name = competence.join(Competence_.competenceNames);
cq.orderBy(cb.asc(name.get(CompetenceName_.name));
The "fetch" will do a fetch join, if you also wish to load the data in the same query.

    I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

    If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) in CR Xi

    Hi,
    I have listed many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) function of CR Xi.
    These problems are related to this export format only (meaning everything works fine in the Viewer or in the 'Export to PDF')...
    - Multi-columns layout do not export as Multi-column (export only a one column);
    - Numeric values with parenthesis for negative values or with a fix currency sign at the leftmost position are not exported correctly;
    - Fields having a Suppress formula which is "WhilePrintingRecords" do not appears when exported;
    - Fields with 'Suppress double value' checked are not always suppressed when exported to Text.
    - 'Keep Group Together' flag is not working.
    - 'Reset Page Number After' simply does not works when exported to text;
    - 'Keep object together' on TextBox/Section is not working.
    - Whenever a group is ending on the last line of a page, the the following page as the same Group header as the previous group with no records until the page is filled, then the PageBreak and PageHeader is missing but the records of the following group appears.
    I would like to know what is the status of the 'Export to Text' function (is it a deprecated function not supported anymore???).
    If still supported, when will these bugs be fixed???
    Thanks

    Hi Rene
    Export to Text is supported till date. Crystal Reports 2008 also supports this with Keep together working however when I tried with format with multiple columns, it didnot show up in the exported text file.

    It's a really bad idea to post your email addresess - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.
    This is a user-to-user forum and no-one on here can take any direct action. If your Yahoo address is not working that's something you would need to take up with Yahoo - have you checked it by sending yourself an email to it?
    Otherwise you will need to contact Support: go to https://expresslane.apple.com/ and click on 'iTunes' in the center column and then 'iTunes Store' in the right-hand column and proceed from there.

    Hi johnd83157268,
    Sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
    Could you please let me know what changes have you made in the registry.
    You might need to uninstall Adobe Reader from Control Panel and try install it again from the following link:
    Adobe Reader Install for all versions
    Please ensure that you are logged in as administrator and anti-virus is disabled as that might interrupt installation.
    Try again and then let me know.

    We could not complete your iTunes Store request.
    The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
    This message systematically appears on Windows 8 with latest version of iTunes when signing-in with the home sharing account, preventing any purchase. It is not a network issue since the message does not appear when signing in with my personal account which works in all circumstances.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    Are you saying that your remote doesn't operate your Apple TV.
    Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.

  • I bought a new computer, and i have transfered everything using home share, file transfers, etc.. yet still when i go to sync, itunes tells me ipod can only be synced with one computer... is there a way to retire the relationship with the old computer?

    i bought a new computer.  the itunes app allows for home shareing, file transfers, etc.. but i want to discontinue the syncing with the old computer and sync my ipod touch now only on my new system... but i cant seem to disconnect that old relationship at all.. when i try to syncit says that my ipod is already synced with another computer, do i want to discontinue that and only use the new informationon this computer?  i dont want to do that yet because it doesnt seem like everything has come over, and i am afraid of losing songs that i downloaded from cds, etc..

    if you don't want to sync it because you don't think that everything has been transferred then i would check first if you can, before you commit to used only the data from your new computer.
    though, im not sure if this is true, but i think that when you sync your ipod to a new computer it will take the items from your ipod and put it on itunes, like when you purchase something on your ipod and it gets automatically transfered, but don't take my word for it.

  • Defining a many-to-many relationship with CMP EJBs  : does it work for you

    Curious to know whether someone has been able to set up a many to many relationship between two entity beans.
    I have been struggling with this for days now and I can't get it to work.
    In my test project I have two entity beans, resp. Consultant and Solution.
    Consultant has a cmr field called 'solutions', which is a collection object from the opposite side (Solution).

    I created a stateless session bean as a business facade for the two entity beans. I then created a webservice to test the beans.
    What works :
    - create a consultant
    - get a consultant
    - create a solution
    - get a solution
    (basically everything that doesn't involve the relationship field.
    However, what doesn't work is the method call assignSolution:
    - assign solution : this is implemented as follows
    Business Method.
         public void assignSolution(String consultantID, String solutionID)
              throws ProfilingException {
              // TODO : Implement
              ConsultantLocal cons = null;
              SolutionLocal sol = null;
              try {
                   cons = consHome.findByPrimaryKey(consultantID);
                   sol = solHome.findByPrimaryKey(solutionID);
                   Collection solutions = cons.getSolutions();
                   solutions.add(sol);
                   //sol.getConsultants().add(cons);
              } catch (FinderException ex) {
                   ex.printStackTrace();
                   throw new ProfilingException("failed to retrieve data from DB", ex);
    As you can see I am trying to use the CM Relationship in this methhod. Adding the solution to a consultant should be as simple as adding a solution object to the collection retrieved with the getSolutions accessor. The Container is expected to persist the information in my MAXDB database.
    However this doesn't happen.

    I can't figure out what the problem is with the ORM mapping defined.
    On the database level I have three tables. Consultant maps to PFL_CONSULTANT, Solution to PFL_SAPSOLUTIONS. The third table PFL_CONS_SOL_MAP is the help table used for the relationship (having two fields, which are in fact foreign keys from the other two tables to express the assignment of solutions to consultants (where a consultant can have one or more solutions).
    ps. : I am running Netweaver Developer Workplace (Netweaver 2004, at stack level 5)

    Hm, after disabling 'automatic locking' it works.

  • Many-to-many relationship with value?

    An Order has many Item, each Item can belong in many Order.  This is a many-to-many relationship.
    However, if the Item has a defaultPrice, and an Order can optionally override the price of an Item.  How do I do that in ORM?
    In SQL, I'd have a link table that has two FK's OrderID & ItemID as composit PK, and have an additional OverridePrice column.
    How do I do that in ORM with only CFC annotation? if not, how about custom hibernate xml?
    Thanks.

    I'd probably treat it more like a one to many between order and order_item, and a one to many between item and order_item, rather than trying to treat it purely as a many-to-many between order and item.  In a many-to-many, the link table is purely that: a link table.  It would not have significant data, whereas you have a requirement for such data.
    That said, I reached this conclusion after only about 15sec of mulling it over, so there's likely to be other approaches too!

  • [SOLVED] So many problems with the RTL8723au wireless card:

    Hello,
       I have been a long time linux user (Ubuntu & CentOS) and recently switched to Arch Linux. My laptop usually has strange issues with all sorts of stuff when it runs Linux like graphics cards, brightness control, and WiFi. So far I have been able to fix the first two on my own from the wiki.
       In Ubuntu I was used to having to clone into https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au and then making the driver. After a quick modprobe 8723au the wireless interface came up and was working perfectly with NetworkManager.
       After doing the same thing with Arch, NetworkManager cannot connect to the internet, neither can Wicd which gets stuck at the Authentication step. I finally disabled both of these services and used wpa_supplicant to successfully connect but after a lot of errors. I am pretty sure something is wrong with the wireless driver, and not Wicd, NetworkManager, and wpa_supplicant at the same time.
    There is no output from  iw dev
    'Not connected.' from  iw dev wlp0s26u1u4i2   even though wpa_supplicant is connected to the internet.
    Output of   sudo wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlp0s26u1u4i2 -c./wpa_test  :
    (wpa_supplicant takes a good 3 minutes to connect)
    Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant

    Apparently one cannot run dhcpcd AND NetworkManager at the same time. I feel really stupid, but at the same time I spent most of today looking through the wiki.
    For those newbies who ran into this, do this with root access:
    systemctl disable dhcpcd.service
    systemctl enable NetworkManager.service
    Marking this as solved.

  • I am having many problems with the CC 2014 application manager update

    I have 2 seats. Thus I have CC 2014 installed on four computers. All four are high end desktops with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed, all four with the latest patches. All four also use high end nvidia graphics cards all with the latest drivers.
    On all four, when I tried to update the application manager, only the frame of update the window was visible. Then, when I moused over the empty frame, the blue update button became visible, but nothing else. Since the common thread is nvidia drivers, it seems there may be a conflict. But one card is a Quadro FX 5800, another is 2x SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285, another is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB, and the fourth is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3Gb. So all four have different cards.
    I went ahead and installed the app mgr update and all the program updates on all four computers. All four had problems, two of them serious.
    On one computer, there were problems booting up. The boot up problems went away when I restored to a prior image. I tried several times. The problem persisted. I finally gave up on updating this computer.
    This boot up problem then happened on a second computer. I restored to a prior image and the problem went away here as well. I then tried the installs again. This time, the computer booted fine, but I lost the ability to send email. I use Thunderbird and have had no problems sending email ever (for at least the past 8 years). So I again restored to a prior image and the email problem went away. I then tried the installs a third time. Same result. Investigating, I was able to get an alternate outgoing mail server to work (that of my company site). But I never got the Verizon server to work. Incoming? Yes. But no outgoing.
    On the third computer, I also had problems booting. But rebooting many times seems to have solved the problem. Unfortunately, Premiere crashes so often I've reverted to CC.
    I realize that Adobe puts much work into making their software better. And I depend on it every day. But to be honest, I've just spent several whole days trying to fix broken computers. And my confidence in Adobe is at an all time low.
    I so regret not staying with CC.

  • Why are there so many problems with the early 2008 Mac Pro ???

    Hi everybody out there using Mac Pro's early 2008,
    I found out there is a lot of problems with the early 2008 Mac Pro.
    My early 2008 Mac Pro has been repaired ones under warranty and now it stopped working again ! Also see under: Mac Pro early 2008 no chime and does not start up. Why is this ????
    It worked well for about 2 years and then it just fails and i had this failing issue twice already !!! Is this just a BAD Apple product or how do you think I need to approach this. Let’s face it, these machine don’t come cheap and you at least expect them to work without problems for 4-5 years. What is happening here ???
    Cheers, Kavango

    go to a black screen after 15 minutes or a couple hours
    That is probably an indication that you need to find a new graphics card.
    RE: Mac Pro Replacement Graphics cards
    1) Apple brand cards,
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards, and
    3) "Mac Edition" cards ...
    ... show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
    1) Apple brand cards:
    • Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5
    • Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards
    • NVIDIA Quadro 4000, about US$1200
    • NVIDIA Quadro 5000, about US$2500
    3) "Mac Edition" cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
    • SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
    • EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
    The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
    If you are Meet ALL of these:
    • running 10.8.3 or later AND
    • don't care about "no boot screens" etc AND
    • can re-wire or otherwise "work out" the power cabling, THEN:
    You can use many more cards, even most "PC-only cards"

  • Adding a many-to-many relationship with AMO

    Does anyone have an example of adding a many-to-many relationship using AMO that is NOT the AMOAdventureWorks example?
    Specifically, I'm trying to do the following:
    1. Create the new measure group (cube.MeasureGroups.Add("New MeasureGroup"). This will be the factless measure group that's used to resolve the many-to-many
    2. Add a measure to it (something simple, like a Count)
    3. Add a regular cube dimension to the measure group linking one side of the many-to-many to a normal dimension
    4. Add a regular cube dimension to the measure group linking the other side of the many-to-many to a normal dimension
    (3. and 4. above are "RegularMeasureGroupDimension" type)
    5. Add a ManyToManyGroupDimension to the measure group. I use the ID of (3) above for its CubeDimensionID
    This is where I get stuck. I get an error "Another 'MeasureGroupDimension' object has the 'Requesting BU Lookup' key." (and this is the name of the dimension that I added in step 3).
    I could've sworn this worked just the other day! I can easily create these relationships using the GUI, but I just can't seem to get the AMO right to make it happen in code. Has anyone else been successful at this? I've stared a hole into AMOAdventureWorks, and it doesn't help :-(
    (BTW: Scripting to XMLA is not an option, because of the restricted environment where cube customization needs to take place)

    Dear John Lynn,
    Would you be willing to share the sample of your code? I'm having some troubles myself and would find another sample than the AMOAdventureWorks
    very helpful.
    Thanks in advance.

  • TS1559 Why are there so many issues with the iPhone 4S?  The WiFi setting on the 4S becoming greyed out is certainly NOT a rare instance.

    Why does the iPhone 4S keep losing the ability to connect to a WiFi server?  This is a repeat issue with one of our phones!

    I had the same problem with my iphone 4S, ios 7.1.2. The wifi button was grayed out for some time now. I tried several methods that I found in various forums, including the reset of network settings, airplane mode, fridge and more. NOTHING!
    Then I finally did what I wanted to avoid - the heating method, and it worked as follows:
    1. iPhone turned on, I held a hair dryer close to it while keeping the screen on and watching it while heating the iphone with the hair dryer.
    2. When the temperature warning came up on the screen, I put the iphone aside to cool up in room temperature (shut off the display). I turned it on/off couple of times until I saw that the warning was gone and normal screen came back.
    3. The wifi was still grayed out.
    4. I then did the network settings reset,
    iphone wifi was back to normal!!
