Online Folio

Hi All,
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated on this. I am currently in the process of producing an i-pad employee mag for a client. They have voiced security concerns about certain content that would be in specific parts of the magazine i.e. financial figures. They have asked me if it is possible to publish the folio so it is able to be distributed via a secure web link through their company website, so that the employees can download it via the web link through their i-pads. Now as far as my knowledge tells me and from what i've read, it is possible to view folios that are shared with you online but the ability to download an actual folio into a viewer app from an external web link isn't. Am I right? Any ideas on how to solve it or if it is even possible?
Hopefully this makes some sort of sense, apologies if not I can elaborate further if needed.

If I am correct in my knowledge of how dps makes the app then:
The actual app named 'Adobe Content Viewer" is for proofing, but when you create an app it uses the adobe content viewer to display everything, but it is rebranded with your own title and icon.

Online Folio Producer

Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone could help me with this conundrum. I'm currently working in the online folio producer and usually when I open a folio I can see little preview thumbnail images of each one of my stacks. Recently this has stopped, all I can see is the stack name. Why is this? Is there a way to fix this? I've attached a screenshot to illustrate my point. Thanks in advance.

PDF is not supported and never was. You are not seeing previews on PDF articles. Perhaps those were converted to PNG due to size of a smooth scrolling page?

Best practice to update inline/publish folio?

Think all is in my question
I have an online application with an online folio and I need to update the same folio with a new version.
What is the best practice to organize my work ?
DId I have to continue working in Indesign with the same ID but no update/re publish it in Folio Producer (this option scared me totally... what if mu draft goes online???)
Did I have to recreate another folio and after testing it, publish it with the same Folio name and description ?? ( not sure it will update the same file as it is not the same)
What is the best practice to organise me/my work/my file ?

Folio Producer Editor: Missing or unable to load layout

I have an ongoing problem. I have rebuilt from scratch the folio and article of my app multiple times, but once I view the folio in the Folio Producer Editor I receive the error "Missing or unable to load layout." The folio and articles get loaded to the Adobe Content Viewer on my computer and iPad with no problem. The app looks and works great. When viewed from the online Folio Producer Editor, I continue to get the error. I am debating the idea of moving forward to publishing the app, since the app works well everywhere else. Does anybody know if I will encounter an error later, because of this error?
I read an earlier forum post that asked the question about connections. I am using a standard wifi connection with download speed of 8.46 Mbps and upload speed of 4.45 Mbps. Would this cause a problem?

I had this issue. When you are initially setting up your folio, you are given a choice between landscape, portrait, or both orientations. I had set it as both as I had originally intended to do both, but later decided to do landscape only. Unfortunately you only are given this choice in the beginning. I only created horizontal/landscape orientation (insert what ever orientation you used) and needed to click on the horizontal view in order for it to pull it up correctly. It doesn't automatically recognize what orientation is required to view the app when you do not have the other created yet. The buttons for the orientation are just to the left of the Thumbnail size adjustment slider. If you only produced one orientation (landscape or portrait), you'll need to click on the appropriate view in order to see your layout correctly. My solution was to go back and create a new folio choosing landscape only orientation and repopulating it. Hope this helps. Perhaps all these kinks will be worked out in the future.

HTMLResources works when tested local but won't work when the folio is uploaded

creating a DPS app with on the cover, inside a popup, a button that calls a pdf in the HTMLResources.zip
Button's function
HTMLResources/cover/filename.pdf
filename.pdf sits in the folder 'cover' inside the HTMLResources folder before zipping.
This works when I test it local, and it has worked online some days ago in a previous release of the folio.
But since this morning I always get this error:
"The requested url was not found an this server." (-1100)
I've checked everything twice and the online Folio Producer tells the HTMLResources.zip is uploaded
Any ideas what could be wrong ? How to solve this ?

Folio Builder will not sign me in

When I try to sign into Folio Builder I get the pop-up window and I sign in, definitely using the correct credentials.
However then the window just disappears and folio builder remains not signed in. I have no access to my online folios.
How do I fix this, I urgently need to be able to share a folio.

In content viewer my shared folios say update available when I've not made any update. Why?

Hi, I've created a number of folios which are currently being shared with my clients via Content Viewer. The folios regularly show an "update available" message even when I've not made any update. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

Yes, this is a fully paid up account and we are using the Adobe content viewer from the app store. No we do not use any 3rd party software. All folios are created in in-design and uploaded via the folio builder panel within in-design. As far as I'm aware this has happened since we started using DPS about a year ago. We are not hitting the update folio button within in-design, therefore they should not be saying update available.
Attached is a screen shot showing the online folio builder panel today, as you can see all publication dates are today. Should we be locking these folios?
I should also mention when we open in-design all of the folios we have published are still within the folio builder panel (see second screen shot) and being shared.

quite what I was looking for.
I have read may other posts about this subject and most point
to pre made galleries. I am happy to have each image as a separate
page. All I want to do is have a link and when it is clicked it
opens somewhere else on the pages without the rest of the page
jumping. When I create each image on a separate page (eg
image1.html, image2.html) with the same navigation setup on each
page it flicks as the each page loads. I really like how in the
example i posted you click the text link on the left and the image
opens to the right - how can i do this?

URLs to specific articles in Web Content Viewer

I'm placing the Web Content Viewer on a custom site for free viewing of all articles in the folio. Is it possible to get a URL of individual articles that be links sent to people? So if there is an email blast, can there be a URL that will lead a reader to a certain article in that online folio? Thanks.

Export single edition and import in a content with others magazines: EDIT

I am trying to import files exported from a single edition from another userID. Now I want to have that magazine in a new kiosk with others. Is it possible?
I try:
import files downloaded from the single edition "Folio, xml, etc...."
Share from the other uerID the magazine, but I cant see and edit the content.
Do I have to re-use the indesign files to copy the mag in another user? :/

turn your single edition folio into an online folio, share with the other account, use the copy folio feature to copy from account A into account B.
There is no way to import content that was exported using the export feature in folio producer

Can't create artricles properly, no thumbnails

I just taught a DPS class yesterday and 12 different computers were having problems creating folios properly. First, we were having problems adding both horizontal and vertical layouts using the "Add open Indesign documents" feature. If we added the horizontal we couldn't add the vertical. if we added the vertical we couldn't add the horizontal. So, then when we tried "importing" layouts instead, we got both layouts but NO thumbnails! This happened on 12 different computers. I've taught this class 10 times in the last 3 months with no major issues. We tried making offline folios and online folios and the same thing happened. Any suggestions?

having created a number of single orientation articles and added these to a folio today, I now find I cannot even login through the folio builder panel inside Indesign or see to update its articles inside the folio builder as it is now causing an error on my iPad also the folio is no longer available to view or even update within the folio builder panel.
Any thoughts what's happening.

Adobe DPS - Multiple computer sync

I work on three computers (work, home and laptop) and I want to know the best working practice when it comes to Adobe DPS. Basically how do I keep all the documents, folios and articles in sync on all three computers. I subscribe to Creative Cloud so I'm sure there's a way of doing it but I haven't stumbled across it yet.

Are you creating your folios offline? If so they won't show up on the other compuer. Either use the flyout menu on the folio to upload it, or when you create the folio in the first place make sure the option is set properly in the new folio dialog so it is an online folio.
As Bob mentions you'll still have to relink the articles on the other machine, which can be a bit of a pain. From a workflow standpoint you are likely better off waiting to build the folio proper until you're happy with each article design. Then use one computer to make the final folio (perhaps via a sidecar.xml to make it easy to recreate again if you have to).

Upload doesn't Work

i´m Building an online Folio. Everythings just worked fine …
But suddenly the Upload doesn´t work anymore … as adding an article … the builder doesn´t upload the files anymore :-(

Welcome to the forum!
Is there any error message? Have you tried both the WiFi and the data connections to isolate the issue? Have you also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the application?
You can also try to clear the browser's cache. To do this, go to Web > Options or tap on the arrow > select the gear icon > Privacy > Clear privacy data > Cache.

Can't open old iWeb domain file (yes, I have asked in the other forum!)

I had to wipe my MacBook hard drive and reinstall my data and OSX. Having tried to restore my iWeb domain file from Time Machine, I find I am unable to open it. (I've asked this question in the iWeb forum but was eventually directed here.) I've tried seemingly everything, including changing the file's permissions, wiping iWeb preferences, creating a new domain, deleting it and replacing it with the old one. Still I'm told iWeb can't open the file.
Could it be corrupted? It's probably relevant that it was created under a different account (I had to create a new one when I wiped the disk) and I believe iWeb doesn't like opening domains created by "another" user.
Any help much appreciated. It's important because I am applying for a new job and my online folio -- aka my iWeb website -- is not up-to-date, which looks very strange.

I have to confess, I was hoping someone with more knowledge about iWeb's Domain file would chime in. Evidently not, though.
Let's try something else. Run the following two commands in the Terminal (paste them in, only one at a time, and hit return after each one):

Article Preview Error

All of my articles in the online Folio Producer Editor have red boxes around them with a "Yeild" error in the tor right of each thumbnail. When I hover over the error, it reads: Missing or unable to load layout. Does anyone know what caused this?

This is indicating we can't get the thumbnail images in the Folio Producer Editor to show thumbnail view. Did you create your Articles from InDesign files or HTML files? If it is an InDesign Article, did you choose PDF asset format?
