Open a file in a jar file
Hi,
I've an applet (class Cncj.class) that opens a file ex1.txt in the directory examples:
getCodeBase().toString() + "examples/ex1.txt";
All works ok if I run the applet without compress but if I make a jar file:
jar cvf Cncj.class examples
a exception is produced when I try to open the file ex1.txt: exception: Bad path.
Can't I access to the file "ex1.txt" in the jar file?
What I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for your answers.
make sure that the JAR file is in your classpath

Hi,
I'm making a program where i have a set of help files in the form of html and i would like to open them when the user clicks the "Help" button and I used this code at first
try
Desktop.getDesktop().browse(new URI("resources/html/help.html"));
catch (Exception ex)
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Could not open help.html in default browser\n", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
}However after I made the jar and tried to execute on another computer however, it wouldn't work and would display the error message. I was wondering if there was some way that I could open the help.html in their default browser, or maybe a frame if that works, from the jar and have my program still be platform independent?ok so i just realized that it doesn't make sense for a program outside the jar, like IE or Firefox, to be able to access and open a file inside of the jar. I am now looking for suggestions on how to work around this problem for my program to be able to have a simple help system located inside the jar that can be loaded during runtime.
Thanks for your suggestions. -
Converting a url to a file (opening a url in a jar and changing to a file)
Hello everyone, my title states exactly what I want to do I want to use Url joe = MyClass.class.getResource(file.txt) to make a url which I can turn into a file.
I need to open this location.
Basically I have 26 text files located in a jar file, and all I gotta do is open each file but I cant seem to find out how to do it, thanks a lot in advance
-markuse getResourceAsStream(String) to get InputStream instead of URL. Then you can use such a stream as normal FileInputStream or any InputStream.
Notice:
this.getClass().getClassLoader.getResourceAsStream("resource"); looks for
resources in "this" class package. If your resources are somewhere else in
classpath use ClassLoader method getSystemResourceAsStream or give full path to resource starting with /. -
JAR creation failed in Eclipse. error in opening zip file
When Exporting the project to Runnable JAR file in Eclipse, I have "JAR creation failed", with "error in opening zip file" in details and nothing else.
I've tried running the new Eclipse environment by starting a new .metadata file. Then, I rebuilt the project - it runs as before.
What zip file is referred to?I imagine it's the "Export destniation" jar/zip. Perhaps it's being
used by a running application and is therefore locked against writing.
Have you tried deleting it from the command line?

JPS-06514: Opening of file based keystore failed.
I have a fresh install of JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0 (Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.3.0_GENERIC_120914.0223.6276.1). When I try to start the integrated WebLogic Server from the Application Servers explorer tab, it fails and crashes with "JPS-06514: Opening of file based keystore failed." The entire output console content is pasted below for your reference. I am under time pressure, so the sooner somebody can help, the better. Thanks in advance!

How can I open help file (HTML or .chm) from Java Web Start (new to JAVA)
Hi All,
Im trying to open the help file of my application.
When trying to access the help file from the GUI (pressing F1 for launching the help file), I'm geting the an error, something like:
"Can't show help URL: jar:file:C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\Dlocalhost\P7001\DMwebstart\RMjar-name!/com/resources/helpFiles/MyHelpFile.html"
It seems that the file which is packed in a jar, was downloaded to the Java Web Start cache directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\Dlocalhost\P7001\DMwebstart
The code which is activated when launching the help file is:
try
ResourceBundle resourceBundle = DoubleResourceBundle.getBundle("Resource", "ResourceImpl");
RuntimeUtil.launchFile(new File(resourceBundle.getString("help.file")));
} catch (IOException e)
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
}where the property "help.file" is in some property file in the resource bundle named "Resource", and looks like this :
help.file="com/trax/docs/help/global/MyHelpFile.html"
The function "RuntimeUtil.launchFile" knows how to launch any file in its default application, and indeed it does launches the html, when giving it an absolute path to the file on my PC, as "C:\Helpfiles\MyHelpFile.html" as such:
RuntimeUtil.launchFile("C:\Helpfiles\MyHelpFile.html");My question is :
The application is going to be deployed on a Customer PC. How can I access the html file from the code, with a relative path and not its absolute path on the customer pc, which I can't know?
I found these restrictions regarding web start:
(copied from "http://rachel.sourceforge.net/"):
*Rule 1: Java Archives only. No loose files.* All your resources have to be packaged in Java Archives (jar) if you want to have
them delivered to the user's machine and kept up-to-date automatically by Java Web Start.
*Rule 2: No file paths.* You can't use absolute or relative file paths to locate your
jars holding your resources (e.g. <code>jar:file:///c:/java/jws/.cache/resources.jar</code>).
Absolute file paths won't work because you never know where Java Web Start
will put your jar on the user's machine. Relative file paths won't work because Java Web Start
mangles the names of your jars (e.g. <code>venus.jar</code> becomes <code>RMvenus.jar</code>)
and every JNLP client implementation has the right to mangle your names
in a different way and you, therefore, can't predict the name with
which your jar will be rechristend and end up on the user's machine in
the application cache.Seems complex or impossible, to perform a simple task like opening a file.
Please advise (I'm new to Java and Web Start).
BTW, I'm working with IntelliJ IDEA 5.0.
Thanks,
Zedik.

Error in opening zip file after Patch 4 HF6 install
Hello,
Just upgraded to EP 6 SP 2 Patch 4 HF 6 on a Windows 2000/MSSQL instance. In the cluster\server\managers\console_logs the error.log now contains the following;
error during parse of jar file D:\usr\sap\XXXA\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\services\servlet_jsp\work\jspTemp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.LoggingConsole\private\lib\com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.LoggingConsolecore.jar
java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file.
I also receive this error message for several other .jar files we've deployed.
Any ideas what steps need to be taken to correct this message?
Regards,
JohnHere is a list of our .zip errors we see. Two of these files are not 0-byte in length, they have been identified by a size at the end of the file.
Also, I am checking on the LoggingConsole. I'll post something when I have an answer.

Unable to open PDF file in 10g
Hi All,
There's a need for me to open a .pdf file that's kept in the server. The file name is Leave.pdf and is kept in the C:/
I used host('start C:/Leave.pdf', NO_SCREEN); in the When-Button-Pressed trigger. But only I am able to open this as I am using the system. When others click there's no response as the pdf is not on their client.
I also tried web.show_document('http://egpllaptop13:8889/C:/Leave.pdf','_blank'); but it says page cannot be found. Can someone please help me and let me know what I am missing? I just need to open this file which will be kept in the server.
Thanks in advance.
Best RegardsJust like you said Francois.
You must create a separate line for every virtual path you need to have.
i.e.
# Virtual path mapping for Forms Java jar and class files (codebase)
AliasMatch ^/forms/java/(..*) "C:\Oracle\DeveSuite10g/forms/java/$1"
# Virtual path for JInitiator downloadable executable and download page
AliasMatch ^/forms/jinitiator/(..*) "C:\Oracle\DeveSuite10g/jinit/$1"
# Virtual path for runform.htm (used to run a form for testing purposes)
AliasMatch ^/forms/html/(..*) "C:\Oracle\DeveSuite10g/tools/web/html/$1"
# Virtual path for webutil
AliasMatch ^/forms/webutil/(..*) "C:\Oracle\DeveSuite10g/forms/webutil/$1"
# Virtual path for local filesystem test
AliasMatch ^/forms/download/(..*) "C:\Other/$1"
Every virtual path in these examples are in a different lines.

Abdel Miranda

Help, I ca not opening the file, beacause the mac says Error opening the document, Acrobat can not open the while printing another document
Thank you very much for your replies Taggert_77 & swmtgoet_x :D
Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.
This file is executable, grab it and you will see. Here is a screen shot (program in front is FlashFXP, behind is the cmd prompt and what should happen):http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/53273b4ddf.jpg
swmtgoetx_: I only did the other cmd's to try to make it spit out something, anything lol :D
The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)
java -client -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar soht.properties
Thank you again...the mystery remains
PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above). -
When I link from one PDF to the other via "open a file" function (both PDFs are located in %userprofile%/mydocuments directory), Reader X and XI open a security warning box. If I agree to open the target file, this specific file always opens without displaying the warning again.
When I link to the same file via app.opendoc, the security warning box does not open. So I do not get a chance to add the target file to the list of trusted files.
Is there any way to motivate app.opendoc to display security warning boxes due to the new sandboxing technology in Reader >= X? So that I get a chance to add the target PDF to the trusted PDFs?Is there any chance that the application is being run from Developer Suite? In other words, is Developer Suite installed on the client machine and hosting the app?
Regardless, although anything is possible, I have never heard of what you are describing. In all cases, the dialog box should be the java dialog which is a grayish/purple color. The exact color will vary depending on the JRE version you are using.
If my first point is not the case, I would recommend that you consider using WebUtil 10.1.2.2 and also patch the AS environment to the same version. To get WebUtil to 10.1.2.2, you will need to patch a Developer Suite home and copy frmwebutil.jar to the AS home. After patching, I believe you will also find an updated webutil.pll in the DevSuite \forms directory which will also need to be copied then compiled on the deployment server.
Also, ensure that you are using Jinitiator 1.3.1.26 or newer. If you are using the Sun JRE, be sure you are using a certified/supported version. For example, you can use the latest 1.5.x Sun JRE with Forms 10.1.2.2, which is 1.5.0_15 -
Hi there,
I'd love someone giving me a bit of help about this...
AFAIK, Nokia S40 phones can't open an html file stored locally (in the phone's memory or memory card), although they can if that file is accessed through an internet connection.
So... is there a method or piece of software that I could use to open HTML files stored locally? (I've tried some Java browsers, including Opera Mini, but they all seem only fit for online browsing).
Thanks a lot,
Marcosok so i just realized that it doesn't make sense for a program outside the jar, like IE or Firefox, to be able to access and open a file inside of the jar. I am now looking for suggestions on how to work around this problem for my program to be able to have a simple help system located inside the jar that can be loaded during runtime.
Thanks for your suggestions. -
Error opening JSP files in Netweaver Developer Studio
Hello,
When I try to open a *.jsp file in the Netweaver Developer Studio, I get the following error:
The ordinal 233 could not be located in the dynamic link library SHDOCVW.dll
When I click on OK for a couple of times (same message), I get the option to open the file.
Then this message:
Invalid or corrup jar file (with a reference to the jsp).
I can however open files with java extensions. It is also not project related, all jsp files react in the same way.
I am currently investigating what MS Windows service packs have been installed recently.
Does anyone know what it means or how this can be solved?

Has anybody encountered the problem before I created the jar using jar cvf cookieWar.war cookie- under the command line
I have seen problems like this in the past. When you create your war file, try using "jar
cv0f" so that the jar file won't be compressed...
