hi i have new task this contain two part first is in flash
when finshed it user can click btn that open folder that in same
domain of flash
i know that flash must save as .exe to act with window but i
don't know what is code that open external window
i need help plz

I am actually looking for a solution where in I can open a
folder by clicking a button in my Flash executable file.
E.g., I have 'dbs.exe' I have a button in this file linking
to Windows folder. when this button is clicked it should open the

CSV , text file out put from flash exe

Hi,
I want to save data from flash exe to CSV file and text file
. OS is XP and there will be no server connections. Is this
possible. Please help.

If th ecomputer you're working with has some server software
running (Apache or IIS) you could save your data with php or asp.
If you don't then you could use the Shared Objects (which works as
a cookie, so you'll be e bit limited here). There was a function
called MMSAVE back in FlashMX, don't know it that still works, that
writes to a text file (but only in the development enviroment).
Let me know a few more details and we'll find a way.

Opening external pdf from flash exe

I've looked around the site and I havent found anything
refering to this.
I'm creating an Interface in flash which will browse through
a list of pdfs. This interface will be published on a CD-ROM for
distribution.
How do I launch the pdfs directly from a link in the flash
exe? Since it is not playing within a browser I can't use getURL.
It's been years since I've had to do this, and the last time
I used the fsCommand to launch an exe file created in Director
which would in turn open the pdf file. I'm hoping there is a better
solution.

Open folder from mac flash projector from a CD... not working

I know there are many posts out there about this, but for
some reason it's not working for me. I thought I was doing
everything right, so I'm hoping the smart people of this forum
could help.
objective:
Flash stand alone projector interface has links that open
folders and a website that is local on the cd.
What I've done
I wrote an applescript that opens the folder. I saved as an
application and checked the run and unchecked the others. named it
"openpdf"
I placed this file in the "fscommand" folder. This folder is
on the same level as my projector. In this folder I have some ini
and exe files for the pc side (which works by the way)
in flash I wrote on the button:
on (release) {
fscommand("exec", "openpdf");
}

Opening a pdf in Adobe Acrobat from Flash exe

I'm trying to get a btn to open a pdf in Acrobat from a published exe file.
I have created something like this before but have used the Get URL code.
I DON'T WANT THIS OPENING IN INTERNET EXPLORER!
is something like this is possible?

Open PDF from flash

I want to open pdf files from buttons, the structure of my
project is this:
one windows project (exe) called Intro (this is only a
presentation) a has one button linked to a .swf file where are the
buttons, I know that i can not open pdf files from this buttons,
What solutions I have? two question more, can insert one fscommand
folder into the other fscommand folder?. how make a bat file and

Don't think you can do this directly, as far as I know
(correct me if I'm wrong anyone) you can use fscommand to launch
applications but not specific files. I have done it in the past by
launching an app written in Applescript that in turn opens a
specific file, obviously this is mac specific but the same can be
achieved on a windows machine using a .bat file (I think).
I would be more specific but it was ages that I did it and I
can't find the project now.

Saving and Opening files from Flash Drive Mac to Windows Computer

Hi!
I recently purchased a generic Flash drive (2gb). I am having problems saving things on it. Sometimes when i drag a file to the flash drive icon it doesn't load properly or transfers well. I try opening it and it says: "FILE ERROR
Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." Some documents do open well. I also tried opening files on a windows computer and it says it has to be formated. I format it and of course everything deletes.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

OK. I did.
But here is the problem, it still doesn't save certain file on the flash drive. Most of the files are either jpg.,cwk.,pdf., or mov.
The mov. won't even play. It works fine when i save files from a windows computer, but not when i save from my mac.
I really have no idea why its doing this. I am aware that certain file can't be opened from a mac to a window, but i just don't know why, when i place a file into the flash drive icon and try to re-open it, it says the error message again (On my mac).

Opening files from flash

I have a flash project which is going to be sent out via CD.
On it they need to be able to open other documents which the flash
movie talks about. For example they need to be able to click a
button and an excel document open up in Excel.
How can I make flash do this? My project is using
ActionScript 3

Opening files from flash using navigateToURL

I am opening a series of slides from my swf using:
var fileUrl:String = "http://place" + locationstring + filename;
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest (fileUrl);
navigateToURL (request);
This opens up my file fine but it gives the user the option to save or open the file.
Due to the nature of the files - often being replaced and updated, I wish to take away this option so that the document just opens.
Is this the right way to do this, and if so how is it done?

Ah ok thats a shame...Is there another way to open files?
In the most part I will be opening a .ppsx (power point show)
an .exe
and maybe the odd excel and word docs.

Open PDF from Flash (AS2)?

I have a button inside my flash movie and I would like to give the user the option to download a pdf on clicking the button.
I am using Flash CS4 and AS2.
What options do I have if I want one of these-
a) Open the pdf in a new browser window/tab
b) Give user the option to save the pdf to their computer instead of it opening in the browser automatically.
I am not smart with coding so any help with the code would be appreciated. Thanks.

The easiest approach is to use getURL and open the pdf in another browser window...
getURL("your.pdf", "_blank");
For the second part you could use the FileReference class to provide downloading, but it is more complicating to configure. The getURL approach will give the same net result since the file is downloaded and saveable via the browser window anyways.

Can't open PDF from flash on Vista

Hello,
I am opening a PDF file using GETurl ("filename.pdf") and it
works fine under XP. on Vista on the other hand it just launches
Firefox (not my default browser) without the PDF file.
what is the issue here? is it Vista or the fact I am using
Flash MX 04 pro?
is there another solution to open a PDF file without a third
party application?

Opening a new browser window from flash

Does anyone know of a method fo opening a link in a new
window in firefox from within flash that isn't blocked by the popup
blocker. It seems like the security in FF 2.0.0.6 (I'm on 2.0.0.11)
has been tightened to prevent any _blank or window.open calls from
flash getting through. I've tried the standard getURL, fscommand
and ExternalInterface call to a javascript window.open method.
Nothing now works.
I understand the need for the popup blockers, but this is a
legitimate popup only invoked on user interaction (click) - the
same window.open call in an onClick event outside of flash works
fine and I guess it is blocked from within flash because there is
no way of knowing if the call is invoked from user interaction or
automatically - but seems a shame.
So any other way of getting a new browser window to open from
within flash in firefox?

Use target="_blank" in your form declaration.<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="someAction" TARGET="_blank">The _blank keyword tells the browser to load the results in a new window.
If you need more control over your window (size, address bar, etc.) you'll need to use javascript.<SCRIPT>
