  • Firefox 31 (Ubuntu) won't open new window or Javascript pop-ups

    Hi, I am running Firefox 31.0 in Ubuntu 14.04 having the following problem:
    1) When I click on New Window or New Private Window in the File menu, nothing happens, same with pressing Ctrl-N.
    2) Certain websites are not able to open new windows or pop-up windows through Java or Javascript
    (e.g. the command: javascript:popup_imp(...) does not produce anything)
    I did try safe-mode and there everything works fine. Then I restarted firefox (several times) with all plugins disabled but still had the same problem, so I don't know what causes the difference between safe-mode and no plugins.
    (By the way, there is no problem opening a New Tab by pressing Ctrl-T or from the file menu, the issue is only the New Window and New Private Window).
    Is there any other way to narrow down what is preventing the new windows?

    Hi cor-el,
    thanks for your answer, however as I explained in my post, safe-mode does not present the problem, but disabling the extensions on its own does not help (i.e with all extensions disabled the problem still is there).
    Also, I did not have this problem in the past and I did not change anything graphics related (unless something was changed software-wise internally and I did not notice).
    And yes I am currently using the default theme.

  • Open new window using java code and not in script

    i need some method like sendredirect or forward . where i can make some codes so as to open a new window.
    actually i am calling a jsp from one jsp file where a lot of dynamic parameters are sent. and in the second jsp i call a servlet which works to download a file to the client side. i want the file should open in new window not in the browser from where it is initiated.
    else can any one say the mime type where i can open file(a xls file) in xls window and not in browser which is not needed as user needs to press the back button(present in browser)

    Hi,
    in your code
    the following code, which is used to set the file name that is to be downloded
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "*inline*; filename=somename.xls" );
    to be replaced by
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "*attachment*; filename=somename.xls" );
    it will work fine try it.

  • Issue when opening new windows using JSF CommandLink

    Hi,
    I'm opening this thread to follow up on a topic posted on the old Sun Developer Forum: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5435239 . That post was never answered and I am having the same problem.
    To summarize (and I'll quote from the original post):
    "I am having an issue where when I open a page in a new window from a link in my primary window any button or link clicked on the primary window after that opens a new window."
    "Any other actions on the primary page should keep navigation within the primary window. This issue does not start occurring until after the desired new window is opened the first time."
    Anyone has run into this problem and found a solution?
    Marc

    This is the command link code that, once this gets called, anything else on the page will open this window again:
    <h:commandLink immediate="true" styleClass="commandLink" target="_blank" style="text-decoration:none"
                id="pdfLink action="#{Bean.method}">
         <hx:graphicImageEx id="imageEx2" styleClass="graphicImageEx" value="../images/pdfButton.gif">
         </hx:graphicImageEx>
    </h:commandLink>

  • Any way to open new window using af:commandButton or af:commandLink?

    There are plenty of examples for doing this as a modal dialog.
    However, we need the new window to be independent of the parent (i.e. the parent should still be active).
    Anyone know a way of doing this?
    Thanks,

  • Links that open a new window with javascript:void(null); do not work in 3.1

    I've been noticing that any site I go to that opens content in a new window with "javascript:void(null);" will be ignored by Safari 3.1. The links work in Firefox and used to work in Safari as well. Any suggestions?

    General rule of thumb in the Mac universe...
    When Safari is updated most if not all third party add-ons break. That's because most don't play by the rules. The developer thinks they know how to do it better than Apple so they just do it their way. So the first rule of survival is to KNOW what you have installed on your machine at all times. Use something like textedit to create a document listing all of the third party stuff you have installed and religiously update the list. Second rule is to wait a few days before applying an update. Third rule is to visit your third party developers' sites and make sure their little gadget is compatible with the new Safari update.
    Being aware of things will make life much easier for you in the long run.

  • Using Firefox 5 in Windows 7, once I have Firefox open, I can no longer open a new window using the start button. How do I fix?

    As I stated, I have Windows 7 on my laptop and have installed Firefox 5. I sometimes like to have multiple windows of the browser open. But, unlike any previous version of Firefox, now when I have the browser open, when I try to open a new window using the Start menu, it will not open one. I have to use Ctrl+N. Why did this change?
    This may seem insignificant but it really hampers my work flow. For one, with other applications, Shift+N is what opens a new window. For two, I've been doing with with my browsers for years now and it's like second nature for me - having to remember that in Firefox it's Ctrl+N is a pain in my tuccus.
    Firefox is my go to browser and I would like it to stay that way. Please find the solution for me! I have tried looking using Tools, Options, as well as looking at my start menu and taskbar options, and no dice.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • How do I open a page in new window using af:commandLink?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to open the page in a new window on clicking the af:commandLink.
    I could use af:goLink, but I cannot as I have to invoke the URL using http POST method. If I use af:goLink, all the parameters will be displayed in the URL. I do not want that.
    I have the below code for the commandLink:
    <af:commandLink text="Open new window" id="cl199bk"
    styleClass="AFRighColLinkText"
    action="dialog:openNewWindow"
    useWindow="true" windowHeight="400"
    windowWidth="800" immediate="true"/>
    When I click the commandLink, the page gets opened but in the same window. I have the below controlflow-case in my taskflow:
    <control-flow-case id="__71">
    <from-outcome id="__133">dialog:openNewWindow</from-outcome>
    <to-activity-id id="__72">openNewWindow</to-activity-id>
    </control-flow-case>
    Please let me know what to do to have the page opened in new window/tab.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Frank,
    I tried that too and the page always opened in the same page even with dialog:action set and useWindow set to true. I had the navigation rule in adfc-config as well.
    I got it done using the url-view activity.
    I have created a new bounded task flow with the url-view activity as the default activity. I called this new task flow from the actionListener bean method on commandLink. Set the new task flow to url-invoke-allowed.
    I have my parameters set in the url-view activity. With this the parameters are not shown in the URL.
    That did the trick for me.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Following are the steps to open a new window using the window.open method for the hyperlink component:
    1. Drag and drop a hyperlink component onto the page
    2. In the properties sheet go to the Value property and delete the value present there
    3. Click on the ... button next to the onclick property
    4. Enter the line of code given below:
    window.open("http://www.yahoo.com","New window");
    5. Save and run the project
    On clicking on the hyperlink a new window will open with the www.yahoo.com page.

     How to open a entity form in a new window using openEntityForm() method.

    As far as I'm aware, there isn't a supported way to do this in the client-side API. You could use window.open instead

  • 'Open New Windows In A New Tab' is not working when the popup is invoked by Flash

    I surf a lot of porn sites. And some of them invoke a popup if you click the play button of their Flash player. Even though I have FF set to 'Open New Window In A New Tab', this isn't working if a window is invoked by a Flash object. For example, if I want to watch porn clip on tnaflix<i></i>.com and click the Play button, then a popup window of livejasmin<i></i>.com comes up. But it doesn't open in a new tab. It opens in a new window, even though I've set the above mentioned option. This is very annoying. Please, fix it.

    Thanks for the responses and sorry for taking a while to get back. I have been looking around but not sure where is the "about: config page." When I click on Firefox "about" there is nothing to configure. What do I click on? TIA

  • Using Struts, On submit button in child window, its opening new window.

    We are developing a project using Struts and BC4J. I am opening a child window(window.showmodaldialog) from main window using struts action. Actually Child window is a search kind of page. User will enter the search criteria and press the sumbit button. I want to display the search result in the same window using datatable when jboevent="submit". But its opening new window and displaying the result in that. However in <html:form>, Even I tried the target="_self".
    I am not sure wether the associated action in the <html:form> is forcing to open a new window.
    Similar kind of thing I am able to achieve in other similar search page, it its not a child window.
    Please let me know what I am missing.
    Thanks,
    Arvind

    So you want the search window to submit back to itself so you see the search field and a result list..?
    In pure Struts terms either using "_self" or the name of the popup window in the <html:form> tag will do the trick
    You need to make sure that the inital window that you created as the popup search window has a name in the first place - can you specify this with showModalDialog()?
    BTW isn't showModalDialog an IE only feature...

  • Problem when open new window...

    Hi,
    I have a flash website and one problem with it.
    When I push on a button, it has to open new window.
    thumb1.onPress = function(){
    getURL("
    http://...............as.html",
    "_blank");
    But I want that the opened window will be no resizable, no
    location, no menubar, no scrollbar, no status, no toolbar, no
    fullscreen. Can actionscript do this?

    Hi, Motiejuss!
    You can use the getURL to call a JS function.
    Just like
    getURL("javascript:window.open('
    http://...as.htm', 'foo', 'width=400
    height=400');");
    But the best is to use ExternalInterface, in Flash 8.
