Opening a .bat (batch) file on a Mac?

Hello everyone, I have a game client that launches using a .bat file. I have heard that I could rewrite the launch file using Applescript or Terminal, but I have ZERO experience with coding/scripting. The file is located in a folder with .class files (I do not know what those are) and some other things to run the game. If someone could help me rewrite the .bat file or tell me how that would be fantastic!
Thanks,
Jamey

Batch files are just text. Open and edit them in any text editor.

  • Error Happened at RFC Server Cannot Open the Job Batch File.

We have BW 7.0  and Data services 12.1. We are scheduling a Infopackage in BW that triggers a job in Dataservices server.
We had checked the connection between Dataservices source system in BW and RFC server on Dataservices side and these connections are good. on the 3rd party sellections tab in infopackage we specify the batch file name that we exported in Dataservices server. When we execute the infopackage we get the following error.
Error Happened at RFC Server Cannot Open the Job Batch File.
This error started occuring from yesterday and prior to that it was working fine. We are not understanding what changed in the system to cause this error.
Can anyone suggest any solutions for the above issue.
    Thanks,
    Naveen.

I'm not sure what the root cause would be here. Is the file still available ? Did file permissions change ? ...
But I wanted to point your attention to the fact that in Data Services/Data Integrator XI 3.2 (=12.2) we significantly enhanced the integration with BW. In XI 3.2, the RFC server is now integrated into the Data Services Management Console (so no need to start as a seperate executable) and you can start jobs from BW by just specifting the job's name in the repo (no need anymore to export execution commands to .bat files). So if upgrading to XI 3.2 is an option, things should go much smoother.

  • Is it safe to open a Windows Captivate file on a Mac?

We have Captivate installed on a PC and a Mac and I was wondering if it's safe to open a windows cptx file on a mac. I tried opening a project file created on a PC on the Mac and noticed that the font size changed (bigger) after publishing even if it looked fine when i opened it. Anyone else experienced this?

    Ron,
is my old Pro Keyboard from my bondi blue imac.
If I open it, will there be any crazy carcinogenic clouds of poison (exaggeration)?
Do you think its safe? I don't have the box, are there any warnings on it?
The original keyboard with the Bondi was the Apple USB Keboard.
A Pro Keyboard is the larger one, white. I've had one of these apart to repair it.
I like that keyboard and there's part of me that doesn't want to see one of those taken apart.
However I didn't see anything dangerous in there and I wouldn't expect there to be anything in the Bondi one.

  • Opening an Outlook .PST file in Office:mac 2011

    Hi,
I have plowed through discussions concerning importing Outlook Windows data files (.PST) into a Mac Office (in my case, Office:mac 2011) but I am really looking for behaviour similar to that of the Windows client. My current .PST file is located on a shared remote drive on our company network, which is backed up regularly and as I am using both the Windows and the Mac flavor, I would need the Mac version to open the PST file in a similar fashion, ie. online, and use it as my email storage box. As I understand, importing a Windows-made PST file makes local copies of the email messages and events, which would mean I would need to be importing the Windows PST file every day to have the same or similar version run on both computers.
So just to make it clear: is it possible to use the "online2 PST file with the Mac client in the same fashion as with the Windows client?
    Thanks in advance!

it sounds link, the links changed from relative paths to absolute path. You need to use absolute path in original file.

  • New Mac User Needs help opening Microsoft office 2007 files on a Mac!!!

I just got a used ibook G4. I had an old Pentium upgrade IBM before. I love my Mac, but I need my old school files form my IBM. I have OpenOffice.org 2.2 for Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I have a file converter program called X 11 that opens with a huge list of options for converting files, but it dose not say Microsoft offices 2007 it says the version numbers. I tryed the latest version and It wouldn't open in OpenOffice.org. Should I use Apple Script instead? I don't have Apple Works do I need it? I just want to look at the files. Why is there not a office viewer for Mac?

    You have Tiger. Tiger=10.4.x; Panther=10.3.x; Leopard=10.5.x.
If you are trying with OpenOffice 2.2, it might be worth updating. I have version 2.4, which is the latest. Since 2.4 fixes a security issue, you should update if you plan to use the application anyway.
NeoOffice, as a previous poster pointed out, should be able to open Office 2007 documents.
See the discussion at http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4542 for the main OpenOffice thread discussing this issue. It discusses the ODF converter at sourceforge which NeoOffice uses to open Office 2007 documents. Apparently, you can use it with regular OpenOffice, too, but if 2.4 doesn't come with it (and maybe it does - I haven't checked), it might be easier to use NeoOffice for now.
X11 is not a file converter, by the way. It is the traditional unix GUI. Apple provides a version of this for OS X which enables you to run applications which haven't been ported to the native OS X environment. OpenOffice for Mac OS X uses X11 as do some other applications, such as GIMP, which you may have heard of/used. NeoOffice is a version of OpenOffice ported to the native OS X environment (i.e. it doesn't have to use X11). I haven't used it in a long time - I always use OpenOffice on X11 - but it is supposed to be very good now and should seem very familiar if you're used to OpenOffice. If you can't get OpenOffice to work with your files, you should definitely try NeoOffice before buying MS Office - unless, of course, you especially want to send MS a few hundred of your preferred currency.
The other thing you can try, if you've still got Office on your IBM machine is converting the files there by opening them and choosing "save as...". That should allow you to select an earlier version of Word/Excel/... which OpenOffice should have fewer problems with. Since you may lose formatting this way, try the other options first. (Also, if you have a lot of files, this option will be very annoying to implement.)
I do not think AppleWorks is likely to help. (I'm not sure if AppleWorks is even still available... somebody?) There are some suggestions Pages might help, but I would personally try the other solutions first. (On the other hand, I have a very old version of Pages.)
AppleScript is almost certainly not what you want. It has nothing to do with AppleWorks. It is a scripting language.
    Good luck,

  • Opening .bat files on my mac

A couple of months ago, i installed a windows application to my mac via crossover. However, it quickly became outdated and needs to be patched, but the patch uses a .bat (batch) file. Seeing that i do not have and will not buy a copy of windows, nor run an emulator, i am out of ideas. I have tried running it through Terminal, but permission was denied; the file did not allow me to execute it. I also tried to convert it via Applescript, but that did not work either (maybe it is an error with how i tried to script it, but everything seemed okay). If someone could help me with the script, or tell me how to open the file, that would be great.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi attekiller,
Terminal seemed to work, but when i told it to execute, it said that I did not have the permission to do so, even though I am the root administrator. I selected the bat file and went file> get info to change the permission, but it said i could only read and write, not execute it. Does this mean that I cannot use terminal to open this?
Terminal refuses to execute the file as a precaution, since it can not execute the instructions included in the file.
Read+Write only means that you can 'edit' the text file, but Terminal (and OSX) have no way to execute the Windows System Calls in it.
I have Crossover lying around since the LameDuck day but haven't had the time to 'play' with it.
As said you have to execute the batch file while you are in Crossover Windows, so maybe when you import/copy the .bat file into Crossover when running it should enable you to run the file (using the Windows Command Prompt for example).
Try the Crossover Support Forums or Library http://www.codeweavers.com/support/ for help on how-to do this.

  • DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER Error while running multiple instances of SSIS through batch files.

I have an SSIS package which loads data from an Excel file into a SQL Database. This SSIS package is triggered by a batch file.
As part of a load test, I have created 20 batch files that run the same package for a different Excel file.
To have these batch files run together, I have created 2 master batch files, one to run them sequentially (using CALL) and the to run them parallely (using START). I do have any issues in both of them.
But when I try to run 5 instances of the same batch file run concurrently (using START XYZ.bat 5 times) only 1 succeeds. CALL XYZ.bat 5 times has no issues.
Is it because during START, the Excel file is opened by 1 batch file and unavailable to the other 4 instances? If yes, then why doesn't SSIS throw an error when I run the package through BIDS keeping the Excel file opened? Is there something I can do to
    overcome a FAILURE?
    Nelton D'Souza MS BI Developer

Yes, it seems that since you open the same file from multiple processes the error occurs due to the sharing violation.
I guess you will get the error opening several Excel files from BIDS trying to read / write to it if you have two BIDS so it is consistent. Excel disallows multiple access paths by its design.

    Hello,
the standard solutions to open Microsoft Works text files on a Mac are ( see for instance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Works ) :
    - if you have a pc, you can ask Microsoft Works to save them in .doc file ( which is a more << standard >> format ),
    - you can use a online service www.zamzar.com/ to convert them in .doc file,
    - you can use a software solution MacLinkPlus,
    - LibreOffice (or NeofficeOffice, ... ) can also open them but you will probably use some formatting.
