Opening a form and displaying the first record

Any ideas on what the easiest solution would be to show the first record on a form when the form is opened? I've tried some of the ideas discussed in the FAQ section, but without success!!
Thanks........GD

Greg,
Sorry, but there is no other solutions other than those described in the FAQ. I know that it is not very "user-friendly", but should work.
Also if you search the forum's archive there were some concrete examples posted.
Thanks,
Dmitry

  • Scan through the records in the Form and display the message!

    Hello Everyone,
    We have a requirement, I do not know how to achieve it.
    In a Forms 6i, 2 fields Type, Comment.
    Type is a list of Values (1,2,3)
    Comment - Free Text Field.
    User can enter as much rows of data, but while user saves the data we have to validate that all the records of Same Type(Say 1). If not we have to display a Message.
    So how to achieve this? How to scan through the records in the Form. Any comments on it would be great.
    Thanks.

    User can enter as much rows of data, but while user saves the data we have to validate that all the records of Same Type(Say 1). If not we have to display a Message.I am assuming that you want to check from the first record. Suppose in first record the user coosed 1 and you will check for all the entries for 1.
    Couple of ways to do this.
    1. While user is entering first record. You can keep that selected type value in GLOBAL variable and while he is entering further records you can match type with that global variable. If it is not matching then you can display message.
    2. On KEY-COMMIT trigger you can start loop from first record and can check for all the records one by one. Like.
    DECLARE
      vVal DATATYPE;
    BEGIN
      GO_BLOCK('BLOCK_NAME');
      FIRST_RECORD;
      vVal:=:FORM_TYPE_FIELD;
      LOOP
        IF vVal!=:FORM_TYPE_FIELD THEN
          MESSAGE(..);
          EXIT;
        END IF;
        EXIT WHEN :SYSTEM.LAST_RECORD='TRUE';
        NEXT_RECORD;
      END LOOP;
    END;I would go for earlier approach and will use WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM / PRE-INSERT for type field for this purpose. Because in KEY-COMMIT the system is doing same thing again.

  • I opened my form and downloaded the form to post on my website... but the submit button is not working.

    What am I doing wrong? The first time I created my form I used Acrobat and the FormsCentral embedded in the program. The original form was working, but I had to make some changes to it. I can't get FormCentral to launch within Acrobat anymore. I loaded my new form (with the changes) to Forms Central through the browser interface, yet when I open the form and download the form to post the posted form does not work. Help!

    Hi,
    if it's ok for you, people can send a email at your adress, it's enough to use (translated from German-DW):
    Insert -> email link. In my DW it looks lik this:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>eMail</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <a href="mailto:[email protected]">eMail</a>
    </body>
    </html>
    The users click into the word "eMail" your eMail-program wil start.
    Naturally there are som other ways, like this for example:
    <td width="35%"><input id="send" type="submit" name="Submit" value="send" />
    I suggest first try or test the easy way.

  • Php page won't display the first record

    I have the following code, but it always skip the first row of the records pull from an Oracle table:
    include "utility_functions.php";
    // Form the query and execute it
    $sql = "select * from dept where cid=".$_GET['q'];
    $result_array = execute_sql_in_oracle ($sql);
    $result = $result_array["flag"];
    $cursor = $result_array["cursor"];
    if ($result == false){
      display_oracle_error_message($cursor);
      die("Client Query Failed.");
    // Display the query results
    echo "<ul class=\"nav\">";
    $values = oci_fetch_array ($cursor);
    //echo $values[0];
    // Fetch the result from the cursor one by one
    while ($values = oci_fetch_array($cursor)){
      $did = $values[0];
      $dname = $values[1];
      echo("<li><a href=\"showdetail.php?did=$did\">$dname</a></li> ");
    oci_free_statement($cursor);
    echo "</ul>";
    for example, I have the following in dept table:
    did    dname
    1     Business
    2     Education
    3     Math
    4     English
    It will only list: education, math, and english.  Any clues?

    What does execute_sql_in_oracle() do?
    Try following example code, such as from:
            http://www.php.net/manual/en/oci8.examples.php
            http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.oci-fetch-array.php
            http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.oci-bind-by-name.php
    It's extremely insecure (and slow) to do a query made up with string concatenation like:
      $sql = "select * from dept where cid=".$_GET['q'];
    You probably need to first sanitize $_GET to remove anything malicious.  Then you must use a bind variable on the sanitized result.

  • Open second vi and close the first vi

    i want to open the second.vi to be open from one.vi and,, and at the same time i want to close one.vi,,,
    i find may answers in labview about this but any of them could not setisfy my requirment,,,
    manisha

    What is your requirement?
    The way to do this is with the VI Server. From one.vi get a reference to second.vi and launch it using the Run method. Then have one.vi close itself by getting a reference to itself and closing its front panel. Note that your code should also be written such that one.vi stops executing once that occurs otherwise it will keep running even though the front panel is closed. So, if you have some sort of while loop that continuously runs you will need to stop it.

  • How to open a file and display the complete file path?

    In my script, I want to create a dialog that prompts the user to define a few variables for the script. One of those variables is the path to a template file. I want it to work the same way that an upload form works. You click the browse button, the dialog appears so that you can browse for the file and then when you click OK or Open, the full path of the file is displayed in the text box next to it. How do I do this with JavaScript? I got this far and it seems to be working, but the wrong text is being displayed in the text box. Plus: How do I properly restrict the file types to PSD. The code doesn't seem to work, despite the fact that there are no errors reported. Initially the Text box is blank, but After I browse for the file, the text box says: "File". Here is the problem area:
    defineVars.STPnl.STBrowse.onClick = function browseST() {
    var stbFile = File.openDialog("Select the Single Mugshot Key Template File", "File Types: *.psd, *.PSD");
    defineVars.STPnl.STPath.text = stbFile;
    Thank you to whoever assists me! :)

    Change this:
    defineVars.STPnl.STPath.text = stbFile;
    To this:
    defineVars.STPnl.STPath.text = stbFile.fullName;
    The reason is that stbFile is a File object, you need to access its properties in order to get the full path.

  • Compare 2 data sets and display the last record

    I have one record in first table and 2 records in second table.
    Ex:Table 1:
    A     100     200   0
    B     200     300   0
    Table 2:
    A      0        0     100
    A      0        0     500
    B      0        0     700
    In one final template I want to display like below with only 2 records like below.
    A      100    200    500
    B      200    300    700
    Anybody suggest me how to pick only last record if the count is greater than 1 in second table.

    not sure what are you trying to do
    if you want to join two table then sql is more useful IMHO
    Anybody suggest me how to pick only last record if the count is greater than 1 in second table.
    you can get last record by last() function
    <?for-each:SOMETAGorGROUP[position()=last()]?>

  • Display only the first record

    I have report in BEx where we want to find the first time a customer ordered Quantity of more than 500 in a data range (For Ex: From April 10 to April 30). In a particluar date range the customer may order more than once (Qty > 500). The catch is we want display only one first time he ordered qty > 500.
    Customer    Date         Qty > 500.
    ABC         4/21/2005        2,035 CA
              4/22/2005        12,290 CA
              4/23/2005        4,826 CA
              4/26/2005        6,397 CA
              4/27/2005        1,538 CA
              4/28/2005        4,849 CA
    XYZ         4/25/2005        2,000 CA
              4/26/2005        12,000 CA
              4/27/2005        4,500 CA
              4/28/2005        6,300 CA
    In the output report we want to display the first record for each customer as:
    Customer    Date         Qty > 500.
    ABC         4/21/2005        2,035 CA
    XYZ         4/25/2005        2,000 CA
    Your help is really appreciated. Thanks.

    jayant,
    i think, you could use your date as a condition to filter by in your report... try looking that the properties of your KF and, under Calculations, set the 'Calculate Result as...' to the first value only.
    hope this helps - don't forget to give out points. =)
    ryan.
    ps. i've tried this, and it sort of works - just need a bit more of tweaking around. =)

  • DB Adapter: Polling For New Records returns the First record multiple Times

    I Polling for New or Chnaged Records against DB2 on iSeries. The DB Adapter returns the first record from the Table multiple Times. If the Table has 5 records it displays the first record 5 times. I am using BPEL 10.1.3.1 Can anyone help me with this.

    Hi there,
    please check out the DBAdapter trouble-shooting guide:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28994/app_trblshoot.htm#CIHFEHFA
    I am copying an entry from there into here:
    A.1.21 Some Queried Rows Appear Twice or Not at All in the Query Result
    Problem
    When you execute a query, you may get the correct number of rows, but some rows appear multiple times and others do not appear at all.
    This behavior is typically because the primary key is configured incorrectly. If the database adapter reads two different rows that it thinks are the same (for example, the same primary key), then it writes both rows into the same instance and the first row's values are overwritten by the second row's values.
    Solution
    Open Application Sources > TopLink > TopLink Mappings. In the Structure window, double-click PHONES. On the first page, you should see Primary Keys. Make sure that the correct columns are selected to make a unique constraint.
    Save and then edit the database partner link.
    Click Next to the end, and then click Finish and Close.
    Open your toplink_mappings.xml file. For the PHONES descriptor, you should see something like this:
    <primary-key-fields>
    <field>PHONES.ID1</field>
    <field>PHONES.ID2</field>
    </primary-key-fields>
    Thanks
    Steve

  • How to return to the first record of a multiple row cursor (Forms 6i)

    Hi all,
    I had a bit of a search through here, but couldn't quite find the answer I'm after.
    I have a multiple row cursor, which I feed into a multi-row block in Forms 6i. I have the following code:
    OPEN CURSOR;
    LOOP
       FETCH CURSOR INTO :FIELD1, :FIELD2, :FIELD3, :FIELD4;
       ... do other code not related with cursor
       EXIT WHEN CURSOR%NOTFOUND;
       NEXT_RECORD;
    END LOOP;Now, I use the Forms built-in NEXT_RECORD to move down through the records on the form and fill in each row from the db. However, once the block loads (this works correctly), the current item (ie where the typing cursor is left) is on the last record.
    Obviously, I need the current item (after loading) to be on the first record. I tried using the Forms built-in FIRST_RECORD after the END LOOP command, but that gives me an ORA-06511 error (An attempt was made to open a cursor that was already open).
    Does anyone know how I might be able to return to the first record of the block correctly?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chris.

    Ok, I feel like a bit of a dolt.
    I found that all cursors had to be closed before navigating back to the first record.
    Case closed! :)

    The best audience for applets is people off the internet. 'People off the internet' might be using a computer that has no (what was it?) 'open.html' in the root of the C: drive. In fact (shock horror) they may not even be running Windows, and would therefore probably have no 'C:' drive at all.
    If you do not intend to distribute this to people off the web, an application makes a lot more sense, but even then, you cannot rely on the document being there unless you 'put it there' (during installation, for instance).
    As the other poster intimated, applets can load documents off the local disk as long as they are trusted. Here is an example*, but note that it is not so rash as to presume any particular path or file, and instead leaves it to the user to choose the document to display.
    * The short code can be seen at SDNShare on the [Defensive Loading of Trusted Applets|http://sdnshare.sun.com/view.jsp?id=2315] post.
    On the other hand, a sandboxed applet can load any document coming from its own server via URL, or get showDocument(URL) to work. In that case, the JRE must recognize that the URL is from its own server, so the best way to form URLs for applet use is via the URL constructor
    new URL(getDocumentBase(), "path/to/open.html");That is how I form the URL in this [ sandboxed example of formatting source|http://pscode.org/fmt/sbx.html?url=/jh%2FHelpSetter.java&col=2&fnt=2&tab=2&ln=0]. Of course, in this case the applet loads the document, then parses the text to draw the formatted version, but the point is that an URL produced this way will work with showDocument(URL).
    I am pretty sure showDocument() in an applet off the internet will work with an URL pointing to a foreign (not its own) server, but it will not be able to load documents off the end user's local disks.
    I suggest a couple of things.
    - Try to express this problem in terms of what feature it is that you want to offer the end user. Your question jumps directly to a bad strategy for achieving ..who knows what? An example of a feature is "Shows the applet 'help' files on pressing F1".
    - A good way to indicate interest in a solution is to offer [Duke stars|http://wikis.sun.com/display/SunForums/Duke+Stars+Program+Overview] to match that interest.
    Edit 1:
    ..and please figure out how to use the CODE tags.

  • How can I display the first and last name using a paramater as employee ID?

    Hi SAP,
    I have a parameter that is called {? Employee ID}.   What I want to do is display the first and last name based on the employee ID value entered in {? Employee ID} in the page header of the report.  Right now, when I put the following formula in the page header only some pages get the right result while other pages dont....
    if table.employeeid = {? Employee ID} then
    table.firstname" "table.lastname
    It appears as though if the first record in the details section on the beginning of each page happens to be the employee under {? Employee ID} then it prints it correctly, if it isn't I get a null value in the page header.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Z

    Hi Try this,
    Whileprintingrecords;
    if ={?EmpID} then
    Also check the option "Default values for null" in the formula editor.

  • Oracle Forms returns the first record in the database when performing query

    Once in a while when we query for a record on a form, say by first name Tom, then it returns the first record in the database. Other times it return the Tom's record. It only happens once in a while and if you close the form and reopen it and requery for Tom, then it brings Tom's record.
    Does anyone know the issue what could be happening. It just happens every now and then that it's hard to reproduce.

    thanks

    then it returns the first record in the databaseI'm not sure if i understand you correctly. Do you mean forms ignores the searc-condition you entered? I would check SYSTEM.LAST_QUERY at the moment this happens to check if the condition gets somehow lost.

  • How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?

    How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?

    You have to use custom JavScripting to concatenate the first 2 fields. You cannot use the first 2 calculation options because they force the values of the fields to a numeric value or ignore string values.
    Possible scripts for the 3rd field are:
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString + " " + this.getField("Text2").valueAsString;
    or
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString.concat( " ",  this.getField("Text2").valueAsString);
    If you do not want change the separator or not show the separator when on or the other field is empty, you will need to add more code to adjust for change.
    The above scripts will also concatenate number because the field values are read as strings and not numbers.
    There is also a generalized user written function to concatenate up to 3 fields with a separator that adjust for missing data.
