Opening a Modal window from another Modal window

Hi All,
I am opening a Modal window from a Modal window which has applets in it. But when the child modal window opens up from parent modal window, the applets on the child modal window are not loading properly. But when I change the child modal window to normal window, then applets loads fine.
I just want to know how different is a modal window when compared to normal window when it comes to applets.
This is the problem which showed up only on specific machine but not on all the machines.
Is this because of some specific settings or could be any other reason?

This problem is occuring on 2 machines which has Java 1.5. But rest of the machines which has 1.5,1.6,1.4 are supporting modal windows. So not really sure whether its a browser issue or JRE issue or it is how the modal windows behave in an inconsistent way. Really need a solution for this problem as early as problem.

It was a mistake on my end.
Instead of having <script type ="text/javascript"> I had only "javascript"
and the page was not picking up the function .

How to open a new window from the login window?

can someone tell me how to open a new window from an existing window, here by window i mean frame. The case is i hv two java files - oracle.java and FDoptions.java. The first frame is in the Login.java. The oracle.java file has a button "Login", when it is clicked, i want to open the next frame which is in the file FDoptions.java. Can some one help me with this? Calling a Function in the Parent Window from the Child Window

QUESTION: How do I call a function resident in the parent
window from a child window?
BACKGROUND
I have a JavaScript function resident in the parent window
that reformats information obtained from the Date object and writes
the result to the parent window using the document.write( ) method.
I would like to call this function from the child window and have
it write to the child window instead. Is this possible? If not,
must I rewrite the entire function and nest it in the below code?
If so, what is the proper form of nesting?
CODE: The code that creates and fills the child window is
provided below. The highlighted area indicates where I would like
to enter the information from the function resident in the parent
window. I have tried every imaginable permutation of code that I
can imagine and nearly destroyed my parent document in the process.

Never mind - I was doing something very stupid and wasn't
calling the function as a method of a movie clip. I was simply
calling checkTarget(event) rather than
event.currentTarget.checkTarget(event); which seems to work.

How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?

There is an existing thread, but I want to re-open it because I think this is an important feature that we need badly. I was wondering if there is any plan to add this feature so we can open PDFs directly into Adobe from the web / other apps.

Not to hijack the conversation but I can explain why this would be useful for both the above case and another.
What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
- Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
- Touch "Open in..."
- Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.

Opening one window from another

I've created a method which opens a window that takes an input from the user and then closes and returns the input to the main program. When I called this method from a test program it seemed to work perfectly but when I tried to call it from my main GUI via an action listener on a button it just seems to crash.
So my input window would wait until the return button was pressed, I set up a while loop which delays the program until a flag is changed by pressing the return button. As far as I can tell it is this while loop which is causing the problem. Has anyone got any idea why this method works with my test program but not through a GUI? I expect that there is also a better way of retrieving this information from my input window and that I have probably just forgotten something very simple. If anyone has got any suggestions I would be very grateful.

the while loop is not very suitable for this situation.
The best solution, in my opinion, is to attach ActionListener to the 'submit' or 'ok' button of your child window, from the main GUI.
Let's say A is your main GUI class and B is the JDialog (better if modal) that should return the value. Proceed as following:
1. in the class B implement a method that attaches a listener l to the Ok button

}2. in the class A, create a ActionListener object like:

      do whatever you like, this code is executed when the user clicks

Just use this simple commmand.

This will prompt another browser. In this browser write u r applet code & load the class file.
One thing more this will not work in the case if you are using appletviewer , it will only work when you running u r applet over the network.
In case you wana test with appletviewer then initiate the browser from the system .... In that case you have to search the net.

This is indeed something more complicated. Let me give you
some details about the project:
This project is to be initially created in Adobe Captivate.
It consists of the main menu that is to be created in Flash (menu
1); sub-menus, which are to be created in Captivate (menu 2); and
menus of sub-menus, which are to be created in Captivate as well
(menu 3). Now, the part where I need help on is the part that goes
from sub-menus (menu 2) to menus of sub-menus (menu 3). When any
option is to be selected from the sub-menu (menu 2), a new window
is suppose to pop-up (menu 3) that is suppose to be in Flash. This
new window is suppose to be a new Flash window and is not suppose
to be opened in a browser, but it's suppose to be opened in another
Flash window (SWF window). This whole entire project is to be
executed via an embedded Flash executable. Thus all the .SWF files
that were created in either Captivate or Flash are to be tied
together via a Flash executable. I was told in Captivate's Forum
that this may be done via ActionScript in Flash and I'm wondering
whether that is that case. Please tell me if my project makes
sense.

Error While opening a JSP page from inside form window

I am using Oracle EBS 12.0.4 and using IE 7 as my browser.
Now when i am trying to open a jsp page form EBS Home page (after login) it is opening perfectly.The problem occurs when i tried to open jsp pages from inside form window.
E.g. From the home page when i tried to open a jsp page "Control Purchasing Periods" which is assigned in one of our custom responsibility(Manager Systems-->PO Super User-->Set up-->Financials-->Accounting-->Control Purchasing Periods) it opens a new log in page for the EBS. When i logged in it is showing

You have insufficient privileges for the current operation. Please contact your System Administrator. Same is happening when i am trying to open User Page form user management responsibility from inside a form window.Where as it is opening fine from home page.

Open popup window from non graphic window

Hi All,
i'm trying to open a popupwindow of one of my classes, but i
have no parent reference in the current class that i'm working
with, how can i refer to the main application window?

Calling particular Window from another webdynpro application

Hello Friends,
            I want to call a particular window of a component from another component.
           Say my first component has three windows win1, win2 and win3.
           from my second component i want to call any particular window say win2.
           please let me know both cases DEfault window call or any particular window call.

Lets elaborate on your example.
Lets consider a main component COMPONENT_MAIN, and a sub component COMPONENT_SUB.
COMPONENT_SUB has three windows: win1, win2 and win3.
Your objective is to use: one of the windows from COMPONENT_SUB as a view in COMPONENT_MAIN.
Steps:
1. Declare a component usage in the component, compcontroller, and window of the component, COMPONENT_MAIN.
2. Right click on the window of COMPONENT_MAIN where you want to embedd the window of the COMPONENT_SUB as a view.
3. Do an F4 on the available views, there you will get the windows of COMPONENT_SUB to be embedd as the view.
4. Create the navigation and thus you can make use of the window of the sub component as a view.

Cancel a ProgressEvent from another 'loading window'

I'd like to know how, if possible, how to cancel a ProgressEvent.PROGRESS or how do cancel the 'loading' process in general.
I also want to know how to do it from another class, what happens is I create a 'loading window' with a cancel button so you should be able to cancel if the loading is taking too long for your liking.

The Loader class has a close() method. Look it up in the help documentation if you need more information. Also, you could remove the progress listener.

"Open file location" option from the search window replaces the search window to open the file location

After searching for some files, when I right click on any file from the search window and click "open file location", the file location is opened in the same search window there by detroying my search. In Vista this option would open the file location in a separate window. This is really annoying if I want to open locations of several files from the search window.

The more thorough explanation of how to do this is right-click the item then CTRL-Left Click "Open file Location". This will open it in a new window.
I agree that Microsoft makes unnecessary changes to the operating system which cause it to behave less productively. The search is an important part of an operating system and Microsoft managed to make it the worst part.
Bring back the XP search option. I'm very sad so see this terribly executed search is still the norm in Windows 8.
To put it bluntly, I don't use Windows by choice, it's my job to deal with it.
