Opening maximized window from embedded flash movie

Hi!
I need your help!
I have a html file with a flash movie-menu embedded into it. I'd like one of the buttons to open an external html page strictly in a new maximized window. It does not matter if the new window has toolbar or not. I want it to open a new maximized window (not the full screen thing) onclick.
How can I achieve this?
thank you!

use the javascript window.open method to open your popup and set the page dimensions.
you can use getURL or navigateToURL() to execute a javascript function or better use the externalinterface class to call a javascript function in your embedding html file.

  • Opening default Browser from embedded Flash

    The Situation is this:
I have a running flash application myapp.swf (Actionscript
2), which runs on a server and requires a parameter (
    http://myserver.com/myapp.swf?myparam=value).
I now want to create an AIR Wrapper for this application. So
I embed the above URL in a html-based AIR Project using the embed
tag. When I launch my new AIR Project the application is displayed,
but when I click on a link within the flash application a new AIR
window opens, displaying the respective Webpage.
But it should instead open a new tab or window in the default
Browser of the respective operating system.
I have tried the following without success:
    - Attempt to create a flash-based AIR Application. The
application did not work properly since the swf file is on a server
and not within the AIR Appplication. If I download the swf-file and
put it in this directory I can't pass it the required parameter
    - Trying to open a default Browser window like this:
    http://snipplr.com/view/4442/adobe-air-open-new-url-with-sandbox-bridge.
I belive this only works with a flash-based AIR Application too
The best solution for me would be, if I could solve the
problem without having to alter the flash part. But, if neccessary
changing the flash part would also be an option.
I really would appreciate any comments / suggestions on this
    matter

I should probably add, that I am not a very experienced AIR
    Developer.
    quote:
So lets get this straight, you now have the content
    embedded/loaded within a HTMLLOADER, right?
Probably not... I have a Html based project. Meaning that I
refer to an initial html file from my application.xml. In this html
File I embed the mentioned flash application using the following
    line:
    < embed height="100%" width="100%" src="
    http://myserver.com/myapp.swf?myparam=value"
    />
Could I use HTMLLoader in a HTML-based AIR app?
    quote:
And when the AIR APPLICATION is launched, you would want the
links that are embedded within the HTMLLOADER to open up in a
    browser?
This is correct, but it should open up the default Browser
like IE or Firefox but not a new AIR window.
    quote:
    Are you using: navigateToURL(new URLRequest("
    http://" + url), "_blank");
I am not using navigateToURL since the flash application I am
working with "does not know" that it is wrapped by an AIR
application. Therefore, it opens new URLs the way it is normally
done in a flash stand-alone application.
As I see it AIR recognises that a link is being called and
opens a new, AIR window instance.
I have seen the article about Windows Vista before, but I
would think that it is not directly related to my problem, since I
do not have to problem whether links are being opened in, for
example, Firefox or Internet Explorer but links are opened in a
    build-in AIR Window.
I hope shed some light on the problem I am having...

  • Get URL from embedded Flash AS3 movie

I have a thumbnail scroller app built with AS3 on my website
homepage. I have the class files but would like to know of any
quick workaround to make the embedded Flash movie clickable without
reworking the AS3 files. What I would like to do is if you click on
a thmbnail or anywhere in the movie, the "portfolio" page loads. I
asume this would use javascript? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I notice that when I click on the thumbnails in the browser,
a "0" appears on top of each thumb. When i test in Flash preview
    clicking on an image generates:
    Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL
    Not Found.

  • Embedded Flash movie locks up Browser

It doesn't seem to matter which of the top three
browsers I use, but most often when you go to
a website page that automatically (or not?)
launches an embedded Flash movie, a little
window pops up inside that embedded movie
asking me to click Allow or Deny.
But NIETHER is clickable, the browser is locked,
nothing can be clicked and ALL other tabs are locked
    and cannot be clicked either.
I have to hit CTRL+ALT+DELTE to kills the
browser in Task Manager. .A HUGE annoyance,
that comes unexpectedly because you don't know
when an embedded movie will be on the next page
    you click.
How do I stop that Allow/Deny message popping up??

The latest driver from Microsoft Update, or from the AMD download site?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765
Green screen is usually an indication for some incompatibility with the graphics driver, although turning Hardware Acceleration off should prevent that from happening.

  • Dailymotion embedded flash movie not working anymore

I cannot seem to get Dailymotion embedded flash movies working. The movie is just a black screen. The same embedded movie on the same webpage works in windows. (Non-embedded) movies on the official Dailymotion site still works though.
This happened only recently. I thought maybe it was a flash 10 issue, but after rolling back to flashplugin 9, the problem still remains.
Does anyone has the same problem?

Usually when a browser has an issue playing a Flash file it is due to the embedding code that is used in the html page.  Can you compare your code to another page's code to see what differences there are?  You should let Flash generate the embedding code rather than using some other software to do it if that is what you did.  Just have Flash publkish and html page, test that page in your various browsers, and if it works, copy/paste that code in place of what you have now.

  • Opening secondary window from javahelp window activated from modal dialog

    hello,
has anyone had this problem before? I open javahelp from a dialog with setActivationWindow(modalDlg), but then, opening secondary windows from that javahelp appear hidden, unreachable because of the modal windows (the dialog and the help window). is there a solution for this?

    Christian,
This problem is occuring on 2 machines which has Java 1.5. But rest of the machines which has 1.5,1.6,1.4 are supporting modal windows. So not really sure whether its a browser issue or JRE issue or it is how the modal windows behave in an inconsistent way. Really need a solution for this problem as early as problem.

  • Safari 5.1.1 opens all windows from previous session

Since updating to Safari 5.1 (maybe 5.0 not sure) Whenever I begin a new session (open Safari from the closed state), it opens ALL the windows I had previously viewed in the previous session! Now, I can plainly see a "button" to do this trick in the History Menu (Open All Windows From Last Session), but I'm NOT clicking on that menu item. It happens exactly when I open Safari. I've looked everywhere for a preference or option to turn that "feature" off, but, Alas, I have not found anything to do so. Mind you, these are NOT windows I had open all at the same time in my previous session, just that I may have been searching for something and either had a bunch of windows open to compare items or used the little tiny red button in the upper left hand corner of the window to close that window and then sometime later, opened a new window with a different URL. Once, it opened so many windows that it ground the dual CPU's to a near halt. I had to shut it down with the power button because "Force Quit" wouldn't come up. This has really been agravating.
I'm desparate. Any ideas on how to fix this would be very appreciated.

How To Disable Lion's 'Resume' Feature
Wednesday July 20, 2011 7:00 pm PDT by Jordan Golson
Resume is one of the main new features to OS X Lion, one taken directly from iOS:
Now apps you close will reopen right where you left off, so you never have to start from scratch again. And when you install software updates, you no longer need to save your work, close your apps, and spend valuable time setting everything up again. With Resume, you can restart your Mac and return to what you were doing — with all your apps in the places where you left them.
Now, this feature might be all well and good, but what if you want your Mac to behave like it did in Snow Leopard? Resume can be easily disabled, but the option is fairly hidden.
Head to System Preferences and select the General tab. At the bottom of that page is a checkbox labeled "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps." If you uncheck that, your apps will continue to behave as they did in Snow Leopard.
    Hat tip OS X Daily.

  • Opening an external Flash window from a Flash window

I'm working on a project in Flash. The project consists of
menus and sub-menus where when a menu is clicked-on, an external
Flash window opens with another menu. Please tell me how to do
this. I hope that this makes sense. Please tell me if you have any
    questions if it doesn't. Thanks.

    Hi michaeltowse,
This is indeed something more complicated. Let me give you
    some details about the project:
This project is to be initially created in Adobe Captivate.
It consists of the main menu that is to be created in Flash (menu
1); sub-menus, which are to be created in Captivate (menu 2); and
menus of sub-menus, which are to be created in Captivate as well
(menu 3). Now, the part where I need help on is the part that goes
from sub-menus (menu 2) to menus of sub-menus (menu 3). When any
option is to be selected from the sub-menu (menu 2), a new window
is suppose to pop-up (menu 3) that is suppose to be in Flash. This
new window is suppose to be a new Flash window and is not suppose
to be opened in a browser, but it's suppose to be opened in another
Flash window (SWF window). This whole entire project is to be
executed via an embedded Flash executable. Thus all the .SWF files
that were created in either Captivate or Flash are to be tied
together via a Flash executable. I was told in Captivate's Forum
that this may be done via ActionScript in Flash and I'm wondering
whether that is that case. Please tell me if my project makes
    sense.
    Thank you.

  • Opening a directory window from within Flash

Is there a way to open a Windows Explorer window with the
current directory that your Flash Player file is running in? For
example, if the file is running on a CD, can you open a Windows
Explorer window with that CD directory displayed?

Sounds like you are talking about running an exe, in which
    case on
possibility would be to create your exe using mProjector, it
    has a
custom AS class that allows you find a location (like where
    the current
swf is) and then open the folder
there are two calls to look at for this getSpecialFolder and
    openDocument

  • Reading a TXT file from a Flash Movie

Using "LoadVariables" to establish a connection between the
running Flash program and a text file in the same folder works just
as expected with no problems. I am on a Windows machine and using
the recipe from the fabulous help system.
The problem - yes there IS a problem - arises when the text
    file contains special Danish characters.
The odd part here is, that everything works fine from inside
Falsh using "Test Movie", but not when publishing the movie and
launching from inside a browser (both IE and Firefox).
The help system says, that data should be URL-encoded. Trying
that (characters %e6, %f8 and %e5) does not fix anything. The input
is read, but the offending character is gobbled up along with the
two next characters, or the program simply hangs.
    Any suggestions?[

No i didn't do that in my first series of tries. Following
your suggestion I did that (embedding Latin I, that should contain
all the necessary characters), but it didn't do the trick. Actually
it prevented my writing to a dynamic text field intended to
    interact with the user.
Using English cahracters only it worked fine (with invisible
    text ;-) ).
Using Danish characters I got the same result: Not working
    properly.
Using the Danish characters from inside Flash to fill in text
fields (static, dynamic and input) normally works fine, so I am
    puzzled - still

  • Can't open browser window from RoboHelp AIR app??!

We've got a RoboHelp course that we're exporting as an AIR app using the  Packager and it works great. We've got an embedded flash file that  needs to open a website in a browser window, but, currently it will only  load the site in a new AIR window...any ideas??

I'm having this same problem also, although you gave me one option in your reply.  I can't get the "Allow" button to work either. I upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.2, and then is when I noticed I couldn't bring up the websites that I usually could before.  I don't really know what you mean about "Stand Alone Option," but I will try to find out.  I also upgraded to Internet Explorer 8, but I'm not sure if this is when the problem started or when I went to Adobe Reader 9.2.
I used to be able to get "Allow" to work if I opened the document in IE8 and not in AR 9.2, but now that won't even work. I did email the author of a PDF document I was in today in the hopes he would have the answer, but I'm not sure if I got his email address right, so time will tell on that issue.
I have a "library" of PDF documents, so I would really like to get this problem fixed.  However, I've spent at least two hours on this issue, and I really don't think it has anything to do with Windows Vista incompatibility; I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Adobe Reader, but that doesn't help much given I have emailed support and, of course, have never received an answer.
I do know there are a lot of people that are having this exact same problem, but no one has an answer to it.  I've tried to do research on this, but I have a lot of "to do" tasks I need to get done every day, so it's not like I have all the time in the world to try and fix this problem.
I would appreciate hearing from you if you do ever figure this out. My email address is [email address deleted by host] should you find an answer to this very frustrating problem. Warmly, Corinne Larimore [signature deleted by host]

i want to change my website so that when you click a button

very possible and very widely used for years - and a very

  • Installing LabVIEW DSC 8.6 Run Time on Windows XP Embedded flash memory

I'm trying to install LabVIEW DSC 8.6 Run Time on an embedded PC running Windows XP Embedded. This has a small local disk (c), so I would like to install DSC Run Time on a secondary flash memory drive (d). The installer tells me that I don't have enough free space on drive c, but I cannot browse to select drive d. What do I need to do to get this installed?
    Thanks,
    Josh

The DSC module can't easily be installed to external flash memory. You'll want to move any extra data onto the flash drive to free up space on the internal memory for installing the DSC module.

  • Safari 6.0, what happened with option to open with windows from last session?

Made the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and realized that I don't longer have the option to open Safari with windows from last session (Preferences->General). The option has been removed:

They don't. I can access them by history ->reopen all windows from last session, but that's not what I want.
Does anybody else have this problem or is it just me that lost that option on Preferences -> General?
