[SOLVED] 'wordgrinder' package build fails
I'm trying to build a package out of this program here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=17015
I download the tarball, extract it into my builds directory, enter the wordgrinder directory and enter 'makepkg -s'. I've only done this sort of thing once or twice but it worked then. This time, however, it ends with a build error:

[SOLVED] conky-lua build fails due to toluapp package issues
I am trying to install conky-lua from AUR on 64 bit Arch and failing miserably.

yaourt -Sy conky-lua

Error: Makepkg was unable to build conky-lua package.
I have read through what search results I can find on the topic (both here and via google) and have attempted to remedy the situation by adding build options to the toluapp build to provide for the conky-lua build. I have tried this by adding CCFLAGS = '-fPIC' to the scons call in the PKGBUILD file, I have also tried editing the config_linux.py file, which sits along side the main build file, to include the -fPIC switch also, which doesn't work either. i.e. I have this in the config_linux.py now:
CCFLAGS = ['-O2', '-ansi', '-Wall', '-fPIC']
Which doesn't work, it results in:
==> Validating source files with md5sums...
tolua++-1.0.93.tar.bz2 ... Passed
config_linux.py ... FAILED
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!
Error: Makepkg was unable to build toluapp package.
Can someone help me through a build as I have never come across scons before and maybe I am providing directives to the toluapp build incorrectly? I am still thinking in "make" terms...
I NEED lua in conky
Thanks in advance

Kaivalagi
Last edited by kaivalagi (2009-11-11 07:32:04)I was asked by email on what exactly I did to get conky-lua installed and working on 64bit Arch, so I thought I would post my reply below in case it is of help to anyone else. Cheers
Run "yaourt -S conky-lua". Amongst other things this will try to install a dependancy which you need to mess about with, the package you need to edit is "toluapp".
When the "toluapp" package is downloaded by yaourt answer y to the edit question and provide something like gedit or kate as the editor to use
You'll now see the PKGBUILD file in the editor, this doesn't need editing just yet. But if you open file from the editor you'll see the directory thie PKGBUILD is in, and you want to edit the config_linux.py file you'll see there.
You should see this line in the config_linux.py file:
CCFLAGS = ['-O2', '-ansi', '-Wall']
Change it so it is like this:
CCFLAGS = ['-O2', '-ansi', '-Wall', '-fPIC']
Now, back to the PKGBUILD file, you'll see this line:
md5sums=('100aa6907b8108582080b37d79c0afd7' 'bab107cdd2d18d3453a2344341b77c45')
These checksums line up with tarball and config_linux.py files, and this will stop you're edit from working if not amended because the .py file isn't what it should be, we changed it. So run md5sum against the .py file and update the second checksum in the line appropriately.
Carry on with the package installation and conky should have lua support

Is this a packaging error or an error upstream?

You can generate many many different types of sounds with the current synthesizer machines. You can also load samples into the sample machine. Buzztard is definitely progressing faster than before now! I think that the power to control sounds precisely with Buzztard's machines will set it apart from Renoise. I'd imagine it will be like Reason soon (but with a whole different interface). The backend for the sound is written in gstreamer (which I'm sure you've probably heard of). Its open source of course, and the project is hosted on sourceforge currently so feel free to join and help make it better by contributing code, or just writing suggestions! Definitely try the latest from SVN, not the stable (both in AUR), as it has much more improvements and machines. 0.6.0 will be out soon.
I think what will separate it from apps like Renoise, is the modular, pluggable interface - taken from Buzz. I've always enjoyed that interface, and work flow. Ya, the synthesis in buzztard is fairly flexible, but it would still be nice to have more As far as samples, buzztard ported Matilde tracker, right? i know that Neil has a port, so i would kind of expect to see the same in buzztard. I know Matilde tracker like the back of my hand - i still know all of the effects commands, even after years and years of not using buzz. lol.
it does look like there is a lot more actively this year in Buzztard development. I think i will build it from svn and have a look, when i get home from work
thanks for the info.

[SOLVED]Building in a Clean Chroot error: Build failed, check ~/build
Hello everyone
I am trying to build qt4 and qtwebkit in clean chroot but when I run makechrootpkg (according to DeveloperWiki:Building in a Clean Chroot) I get an error message:
$ sudo makechrootpkg -c -r /home/zuargo/chroot/
==> Creating clean working copy...done
==> ERROR: Build failed, check /home/zuargo/chroot/zuargo/build
As you see chroot directory is contained in my home folder.
I have checked /home/zuargo/chroot/zuargo/build and I see just the PKGBUILD and another random file (it depends on the package to build). No useful information.
I have made twice the chroot directory and in both times I get the same error.
Does somebody have any idea on how to solve this trouble or how to get information related to the error?
Thanks in advance
Last edited by zuargo (2013-04-19 14:12:53)Thank you
I have new information.
Searching for information on the forum (this one) I have found this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1260353
The user that started the topic, had (or have) a very similar issue. At the first post, he says has fixed the problem by downgrading the package devtools to the version 20120720. So then, I did the same thing.
I had installed devtools 20130408 and in the cache of Pacman, I have the version 20130127, 20130122, 20121115, 20121027, 20121013, 20120720 of this package. I have downgraded to all these versions of devtools, one by one. In some cases, after downgrading and by creating the chroot directory I got errors, either with the package systemd or with the package filesystem. In the first case, the error did not affect the creation fo the chroot directory. In the second case (with filesystem), creating the directory was not successful, getting an error message (see below).
I proceed to list each devtool package (its version) and the error I have got, when I tried to create the chroot directory:
> devtools-20120720-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
systemd's error:

Mr.Elendig wrote:broadcom-wl needs updating to work with 2.6.33. But why are you trying to use it? Most broadcom cards works now with the in kernel driver.
So my wireless should work if i delete it with "-Rd broadcom-wl"? My wireless card is a BCM4322 on a hp pavilion dv2-1030us. -
When I create an EJB Transport Business Service, after selecting the jar that has the EJB 2.1 artefacts (Remote, Home, etc) the oepe plugin fails and can't continue.
As I understand it seems that there is a problem with the classpath of ant build.xml that oepe creates inside folder /tmp/alsbejbtransport/ to compile the bs and generate the wsdl. I checked if tools.jar is in the classpath (in eclipse) and is included, so I can't figure out wich is the problem.
I found this in Oracle, but not helps solve the problem:
BEA-398120
Error: The WSDL for the typed transport endpoint could not be accessed.
Description
There was a problem retrieving the WSDL from the typed transport service endpoint at the time of service registration
Action

This is the the full stacktrace that shows eclipse.

Executable build failing with no error message with smtp email VIs
I have a VI which I want to build into a .exe which will be used as an HMI for a real-time system. I am using the SMTP VIs to text/email me various notifications about the system state. The main VI works fine if run but will not build into an .exe. The error message comes back blank so no help there (LabView 2010). If I just simply disable the portion of the code in the HMI.VI which contains the email VI code, the application builds. I searched for anwers and was unable to resolve the problem. Any ideas? Do I need to include anything in the build that is specific to the LabView SMTP VIs? I'm new to building .exe's so I appologize for any rookie mistakes I may have made.
Thanks.mikeporter wrote:
You said you searched for answers (on the forum?).
Yes.
What did you find?
I found a bunch of topics on email send errors after the application was built but nothing related to .exe building failures (related to the SMTP/email VIs). I also found topics dicussing the bug that fails to report an (any) error during the .exe build (for 2011). The solution was to install the service pack. if that's my problem then I will have to go through the motions to get that done (corporate computers / lack of persmissons and such).
What have you tried? This question has been answered many, many, many times.
I tried what I stated in the OP. If I disable the portion of the code which contains the email SMTP VIs, the application builds, otherwise, the build fails and no error code or description is given.
PS: probably has nothing to do with the SMTP drivers, per se.
If the answer has been given many, many times, then I appologize for not being able to find it before posting. Trust me, the last thing I want to is waste my time fishing for answers on the forum, especially when I get a response from forum members who would rather point out that my mis-identified problem has been answered many, many times, rather then just helping me out. -
VS Project build fails on TSQL Code in script.
Hi there,
I have the following issue on which I've done some research, but nothing helps.
The database project I am working on compiles everything but one script. The scripts folder has 3 scripts, a controller that calls the remainder two.
One of these scripts fail on SQL syntax which is weird because they seem to be okay and SSMS would not complain. Having experimented a little I found that any SQL statement fails on syntax, there must be a configuration issue here.
What I have tried so far:
-add the script as a stored procedure and reference it within the script, so that the script will have one line only (EXEC usp_BuildTestData - it is needless to say that the stored procedure compiles well...)
-create a new script file (without build) from within VS.
-check if the script file BuildAction property is set to None
-load the script file and switch off the SQLCMD mode in t-SQL Editor Execution settings.
Build still fails with SQL72007: The syntax check failed 'Incorrect syntax near EXEC' in the batch near 'EXEC usp_BuildTestData '.
I thought this was a common error or at least something I could easily find a solution for.
Unfortunately VS is somewhat new to me.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Versions:
Visual Studio Pro 2012 (Version 11.0.50727.1 RTMREL) (.Net FW: 4.5.50709)
Target database version: SQL 2008R2 (this is set in the project's target platform setting)Hi Tina,
Thank you for getting back to me. I inherited the project file in subject therefore I cannot tell how it was created. But, I tried re-creating the database project from scratch that resulted in the same error. Steps below:
-Select New Solution/ new SQL Server database project
-Copy the sql files and folders into solution folder then map them into the project file
-build the project.
The database is based upon C#.
The idea of the post deployment script is that it builds test data in the freshly deployed application. It uses a linked server that points to production and selects some data.
I continued experimenting with the post deployment script and found something interesting.
So 1 of the invoked scripts fail on the SQL syntax. This is a simple line EXEC usp_BuildTestData.
The other that compiles well is an ALTER VIEW. I pasted the EXEC... line after this and it worked. It builds now. (I have removed the remaining empty script file, so I have 1 post deployment script file now that invokes 1 script only.
I tried comparing the two files but concluded in the fact that each property is the same (Buildaction=None, CopyAlways) in both files.
This proves to me that the SQL code was correct, I did not leave obvious mistakes in it.
The "bad" script file fails on syntax, regardless of what I give in. I tried recreating by clicking 'Add new item' then selecting Script (Not in build). Did not help unfortunately. Once referenced in the PostDeployment script, build fails. -

My coleague have installed fresh installation of NWDS SPS15 and the same example on his installation work fine. All building proccesses are successfully executed. I tried it several times, everytime same result. I tried to use fresh workspace, tried to delete whole content in ./dtc.
I compared every file with coleague installation. But no success. I am running out of ideas what should I do with it.
If anyone was facing similar problem or have any idea. I will be glad to read it.
Thanks
Best regards Miroslav KoskarHi,

P.S: I am a noob, so was not sure which part of code to put up here so I pasted the entire comments instead.

#include <QtCore/qthreadpool.h>
along with the other "#include" lines at the beginning of the file.
You will also need patches for the current libgpod version. Grab the updated PKGBUILD and sources here : http://jm.ambrosino.free.fr/archlinux/_ … s/amarok2/
Or the i686 binary : http://jm.ambrosino.free.fr/archlinux/i … pkg.tar.gz -
[solved] vmware-server aur build fails
I'm trying to install vmware-server from aur. Downloaded the .tar.gz file from vmware, placed it in the build directory, and let it go. Build fails with the following:

Does anyone know of a solution? virtualbox works great, but doesn't support TI's MSP430UIF FET, which is why I'm trying out vmware.
Last edited by beretta (2010-05-07 17:32:03)Trying again... I haven't been able to find a solution. Is there something else I should be doing to install vmware-server and vmware-server-modules?

Build process aborting due to following error
I should also probably add that machines usually build fine, it's only been with this new batch of PCs that the build has been failing.
So I'm trying to build a machine over the network, (the operating system I'm installing is Windows 7 Professional) however I'm getting this error message when building a machine from our new batch of PCs;
'Build process aborting due to following error:
Disk partitioning/formatting exception: VDS API
IVdsCreatePartitionEz::CreatePartitionEx returned 0x80042571 size = 45788 MB,
offset = 1 MB, format = 39'
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

How can I upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion if I'm still using Tiger 10.4.11?
I have an old (5 years +/-) MacBook that is still running on 10.4.11. I want to upgrade to a better OS but I think I need to increase the memory in the computer to be able to upgrade. Is this true? If so, how do I go about it? Thanks!!
