"Operation Failed. The resource is not a directory, or there might be a permission problem"

I am trying to edit a role setting but when i click on "Edit
Role Settings" it pops up a message:
"Operation Failed. The resource is not a directory, or there
might be a permission problem"
As suggested in a previous thread, I ran FTPServerChecker and
only received two errors. Neither of them applied to me as I am
using contribute 3 and one error was for contribute 2. The other
said to ignore the error if you are using a windows server, which I
am. What can I do to get this working? Thanks. Here is the log from
FTPServerChecker if that helps:

Not sure why this is happening... Try to create a copy of
this page and
try using it as a work around until then. Further more, look
at the
access privileges for the folder on your site.. you should
have proper

  • Error "Connection Failed The server may not exist or is not operational..."

This is just FYI in case somebody else runs across this. On one user account, an error window would pop up every so often that said:
    Connection Failed
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
It turns out that the problem was caused by Screen Saver. The error popped up whenever screen saver tried to launch. On the problem account I had the "Pictures" folder selected for the screen saver, and apparently there must be an alias in that folder pointing to something on a remote server, because as soon as I go to System Preferences and open the Screen Saver panel, I get the error.
It has been driving me crazy for months but finally I thought to look in Console, where I saw the error "afp_mount[5045] CFLog (0): CFMessagePort: bootstrap_register(): failed 1103 (0x44f), port = 0x2d03, name = 'com.apple.afp_mount.ServiceProvider'"
Searching for that error led me to the Macosxhints forum at http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-53209.html where a user had posted the same problem. Changing to a different screen saver or a different folder for pictures resolved the issue.

  • The photoshop library operation failed because quicktime is not installed on this computer

I'm getting this when importing a Photoshop Timeline Animation into After Effects.
"The photoshop library operation failed because quicktime is not installed on this computer"
I have all updates to date.
    Any clues?

After Effects CC (12.x) does not import animation/video layers in PSD files. You should render and export your animation from Photoshop as a movie file and import that into After Effects.

  • SCOM 2012 R2 installing on SQL 2012 SP1 - Error Code: 0x80131904, Exception.Message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

    Hi,
I am getting an issue during a SCOM 2012 R2 installation while creating the SCOM DataWarehouse database. Setup seems to timeout during creating the datawarehouse database. I can see all database files created in windows explorer on the SQL server before
setup rolls the SCOM install back.
Has anyone seen this issue before or know how to help resolve it?
Appreciate your help, below is the SCOM installation log:

    Hi,
Based on the log, I recommend you use the following way to test SQL connectivity.
You can use a UDL file to test various connectivity scenarios, create a simple text file, rename the extension from TXT to UDL, fill out the necessary information on the connection tab then test the connection, and troubleshoot as necessary
    if it fails to connect.
For more information, please review the link below:

  • SSRS Error: The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding

Hi, I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 Stored Procedure as my dataset and running yearly sales report in SSRS 2008 R2. The weird thing is in SSMS the stored procedure does not take more than 10 seconds to retrieve data and the report also works
fine in BIDS, but from ReportServer if I were to pick an year from 1990 - 2014 they all work fine anything prior to 1990 either shows up fine or throws the below error.
    SSRS Error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query execution failed for dataset 'QueryDS'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. The statement has been terminated.
I checked ReportServerTemDb tables and no table seems to be really large to cause a problem. This report "KeepTogether" property is TRUE.
    Thanks in advance.............

Was able to fix this with the help of
msdn documentation. The query dataset was set to 5 and this was somebody else's report I was fixing and I usually have my report template set to 0 so it took me a while to get there.

getting following error on nexus 7k series switch: error is " operation failed.the fabric is already locked", while removing ntp commands (no ntp server 10.101.1.1) from switch. Please help.

I had the same error message, only in my situation Outlook would only open successfully every 4 or 5 attempts. When Outlook would open (versus just hanging at the splash screen), I would get two dialog boxes with the warning/error message.
After I clicked okay I could get into Outlook.
Previously I experienced this problem running my Office 2010 client with my Exchange 2007 mailbox on my old laptop.  The problem followed my mailbox through an Exchange 2010 migration (so new Exchange org), client upgrade to Outlook 2013, and a new
laptop (so I knew it wasn't a corrupt profile).  This led me to the conclusion that it was a corrupt item(s) in my mailbox.
To resolve the issue, I archived *everything* in my mailbox to a PST file, ran SCANPST to fix the corruption, and then uploaded everything back into my Exchange mailbox one folder at a time, stopping after each folder to close and restart Outlook so I could
narrow down which folder had the corrupt item if the problem recurred.  I'm happy to say my issue is now resolved.

the timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
The error shows while executing a (select query) telerik report in MVC.

    Hello,
Did you set the CommandTimeOut property of the SQL Command when you call the connection string to SQL Server?
If your select query is complex or the data is larger, please try to specify connectiontimeout property to maximum integer value.

I had the same problem. And to think I actually HESITATED at installing the update. Oh wait... this happened AFTER the update. Funny how often that happens, eh? But I digress...
Anyway, I had two errors- initially the iPod stated my music library was somewhere else, and did I want to sync to that library. When I said yes, it reverted then to the "attempting to copy to disk"error. Further, iTunes showed that my iPod on the iTunes was EMPTY. However, my actual iPod hadn't lost any data. Confused yet? So am I.
*Last ditch effort- I went back in, and updated all my permissions, did a permission repair and then a permission verify.
    * Also did a disk verify on the iPod to make sure it wasn't sick.
*I also drug a new song into my library.
*Changed from the USB plugin to the firewire. (Although I did this earlier in the day, and hadn't seen a noticeble change)
    * Opened the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. (should have done that a few hours ago)
When my first pop up asked about did I want to sync to the mystery persons library, I said yes. (At the worst, I have all my music and could reimport all 30G of it, if necessary.) And immediately, the sync began, and began appropriately. However, it IS re-syncing every single song I had on the iPod to begin with.
I suspect something nasty happened in the iTunes update, ever since the intel thing happened, the updates have been a bit sketchy. I really like Apple products, but I've gone through 3 iPods due to software meltdowns, and it's a bit frustrating.
    Good luck!

  • "attempting to copy to [external drive] failed. the disk could not be read"

this is a problem on my 2x3GHz quad-core intel xeon macPro running os 10.5.7, and itunes 8.2. i have a 1TB external hard drive (firewire 800) that holds all my music for itunes. i have never had any problem with this setup before, until recently.
once, a while back i got an error on my itunes (that popped up without me doing anything.. seemingly random) saying something about not being able to save the itunes library. that went away after a restart, and hasn't returned.
BUT a new problem now happens any time i try to add more music to my itunes library. i have always added music to itunes by setting up my preferences "add file to library" and have the itunes library pointing to my external hard drive. then by dragging the files on-top of a playlist, it sorts and adds the files to my external hard drive. i have been using this process for years without any glitches.
now when i try to drag files into itunes, i get: "attempting to copy to [external drive] failed. the disk could not be read from or written to"
i double checked the read/write privileges on my external drive and nothing has changed since i got it. (it's still read/write access for my user.. and i've even tried putting a "read/write" for "all" as well. no dice)

thanks, that actually doesn't help the issue i'm having.
but now the problem has expanded to finder and everything else. so i'm pretty sure the external hard drive is starting to go out. i'm currently attempting to back up all 700GB of info from the drive.

  • Web upload error message:  the resource does not exist

Hi - I am trying to build a few Flash-based web galleries from within LR using selections of images made as 'Quick collections'.
I have entered my FTP settings and saved as a selection - including testing that LR can get access to this by selecting the browse button next to the server path.
When I hit upload, I see the following progress detailed in the progress pane and then an error dialog:
    - checking FTP connection settings
    - exporting image bin
    - building web photo gallery
'An error occured sending the file : the resource does not exist'
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Simon

    Some additional comments.
    @Location VARCHAR
Look closely at this.  How many characters can @Location contain?  You did not specify, so perhaps you think some appropriately large default value is used.  Guess again. You did a similar thing with cast (multiple times) - which is handled
    differently.  Don't be lazy.
    WHERE C.calendar_key = CK.Calendar_Key
Go review the join to the CK table.  It is an outer join.  Yet you have included criteria in the where clause that requires a match in the unpreserved (@CalendarKey aka CK) table.  This effectively transforms that join from outer to inner.
Was that intentional? Probably, but then you don't need to use an outer join
    FROM pdi.PDI_Warehouse_952_01.dbo.calendar C,
    pdi.PDI_Warehouse_952_01.dbo.Organization O
Evolve.  We do not join in the where clause any longer.  You should be joining using join operators.  And perhaps more importantly, why do you need to dump a resultset into a table variable at all?  Note that your join is a cross join
since there is no relationship between calendar and Organization - intentional? Given the rest of the logic, it seems that you don't really need to do this.
    ISNULL(CONVERT(INT, IIF.End_Inv_Qty,0), '0') as [Adj Qty],
Go review the documentation for convert.  You supply a style, but does it do anything?  We don't know what datatype End_Inv_Qty is, but I assume it is numeric (and not float).  So what do you intend?  And you convert it to integer but
use a character '0' in the isnull function.  Your lack of consistency can lead to issues that are difficult to find and resolve.
    CAST(C.Day_Date as DATE)
Why are you doing this? You defined the column in your table variable as datetime.  You cast the value you use to populate this column to datetime.  I'm guessing that you only really care about the date portion.  The name you used for the
column implies this.  So why bother with datetime in the first place?
And one last suggestion. If you disallow the use of NULL for the @EndDate argument (simply supply the same value for both date arguments) you can simplify the logic that populates your table variable (or its replacement) and greatly eliminate the confusion
and chance for errors that nullability requires.
