Optimize MySQL table from Java

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if it's possible to run the optimize command on a mysql database table from within java?
If so, does anyone have any code?
Thanks,
BBB

assuming you have a table called myTable the code should look like...
Connection c =// from somewhere
Statement s = c.createStatement();
s.execute("OPTIMIZE TABLE myTable");
s.close();please note all the following...
1) MySQL will lock the table when you optimize the table so if there are open locks this could deadlock while waiting. Also all other queries to be performed on the table will wait, just a performance warning.
2) The logged-in user must have both SELECT and INSERT permission on the table to execute an OPTIMIZE.

  • How to Create adf table from java bean

    Hi,
    How to Create adf table from java class (Not from ADF BC).
    Thanks
    Satya

    @vlsn -- you have to follow what shay said.
    Do the following in Model layer ::
    create a table property java class with your columns setters and getters like :
    *public class gridProps {*
    private int sno;
    private String orderNum;
    *public void setSno(int sno) {*
    this.sno = sno;
    *public int getSno() {*
    return sno;
    *public void setOrderNum(String orderNum) {*
    this.orderNum = orderNum;
    *public String getOrderNum() {*
    return orderNum;
    Create another table java class which will populate the values to your column values and return the collection :
    *public class gridPopulate {*
    private  List<gridProps> gridValues ;
    *public List<gridProps> setToGrid(ArrayList<ArrayList> valuesToSet) {*
    *if (valuesToSet == null) {*
    return gridValues;
    gridValues = new ArrayList<gridProps>();
    if(btnValue.equals("completeBtn"))
    return gridValues;
    for(ArrayList<String> tempArr:valuesToSet)
    gridProps gp = new gridProps();
    gp.setSno(Integer.valueOf(tempArr.get(0)));
    gp.setOrderNum(tempArr.get(1));
    return gridValues;
    Right click gridPopulate class and create this as data control.This class will be seen in Data control list.Under this data control,Drag the grid property collection(created earlier) to your page.Then execute your binding(gridPopulate) according to your logic.
    Thanks.(My jdev version 11.1.1.5.0)

  • How to trigger tree table from java code

    Trying to trigger tree table from java code, using :
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(treeTableComponent);
    But its not working. Am i using the correct approach?

    Sorry for the incomplete information,
    I have a tree table in a region and that region i am including inside a jspx file. In the region i have one popup and based on the input taken from the popup i want to trigger the table to show the data.
    For that i am trying :
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    UIComponent component = findComponent( context.getViewRoot(),"treeTableID");
    if(component != null){
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(component);
    public static UIComponent findComponent(UIComponent base, String id)
    if (id.equals(base.getId()))
    return base;
    UIComponent children = null;
    UIComponent result = null;
    Iterator childrens = base.getFacetsAndChildren();
    while (childrens.hasNext() && (result == null))
    children = (UIComponent) childrens.next();
    if (id.equals(children.getId()))
    result = children;
    break;
    result = findComponent(children, id);
    if (result != null)
    break;
    return result;
    Model is getting data before i use : AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(component);
    But table is not calling getData() in model to show the populated data on UI.

  • Creating an auto incrementing field with CREATE TABLE from Java

    I'm using the "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" to get a connection towards an ODBC data source that's linked to a Access (.mdb) database.
    I've tried various combinations in my CREATE TABLE statement execution in order to create a table with an auto incrementing integer but neither of them work, not even the most obvious one:
    stmt.executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE mytable(uid integer AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY);");
    I always get this runtime exception: *java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in field definition*; and AUTO_INCREMENT is the problem. I've tried all variations like AUTO, INCREMENT, AUTOINCREMENT and such, but nothing works.
    I've looked everywhere but couldn't find an answer to this. Thanks for the help.

    You used MySQL syntax. I think you agree with me that Access isn't a MySQL database. Either use MySQL with a real JDBC driver (recommended) or use Access syntax.
    That said, creating databases and tables using Java is a bad idea. The database and table must be already there. With Java you just do the usual table operations like select, insert, update and delete. Nothing more is needed.

  • How can I Insert a BLOB into a Table from Java?

    I have a Java class that creates an xml file from data in a non-sql data source. After it successfully creates and saves the file it inserts a record into an Oracle table to log the fact that an xml file was created.
    Now the guy in the warehouse wants to get an email with the file attached. I have been looking into the apex_mail package, because we already have a procedure using htmldb_mail. However, that procedure is on our old server with HTMLDB 1.6 and it is not sending any attachments.
    I think I have most of the apex_mail worked out, but I'm stuck on the blob thing. This is what I have so far:
    * The Java program creates a String object called xmlDoc
    * After xmlDoc is fully constructed, the file is written to the (Linux) server. This is accomplished with the following:
    // writing the xmlDoc
    fileDest = "/home/ewh/XMLOUT/";
    fileName = "OrderEW_"\+orderNbr\+"_"\+ticketNbr\+".xml";
    FileWriter fstream = new FileWriter(fileDest+fileName);
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(fstream);
    out.write(xmlDoc);
    out.close();
    * Next I insert a record into the log file with:
    // Add a record to the Oracle order_email table to let the mail process know that
    // a new xml file is ready to be e-mailed to operations.
    emailLogInsertQuery = " insert into ewh.order_email ( file_name, create_date ) ";
    emailLogInsertQuery += " values ('"\+fileName\+"', sysdate)";
    oraAction = oraStmt.executeUpdate( emailLogInsertQuery );
    All of this is working fine so far. Now, I have added a blob type field to the order_email table, but I have no idea what to stick in there so that I have everything that apex_mail.add_attachment needs.
    Here's a description of the order_email table:
    SQL> desc ewh.order_email;
    Name Type Nullable Default Comments
    FILE_NAME VARCHAR2(30) Y
    FILE_BLOB BLOB Y
    CREATE_DATE DATE Y
    SEND_DATE DATE Y
    Thanks ever so much,
    Gregory

    Hi,
    From within APEX one can enter blob data in database tables, view the data and also update the data. Also one can send a blob attachment in an email.
    May be you can follow a combination of the following OBEs to insert BLOB data and send BLOB data from APEX:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31email.htm

  • Accessing tables from java

    I am creating an inventory system. I have used Java for front-end where i have created forms which display the vendor table, customer table, item table, order table, invoice tbl etc.
    I have created class files for each form that im displaying. i have also made connection to the oracle dbs succesfully. i can access data from the dbs.
    but my problem is,
    1)
    for instance i have created a vendor_master table in oracle with certain constraints like vendor_number can contain only 5 varchar2 characters ,
    eg.
    create table vendor_master
    (v_no varchar2(5) constraint v_no_pk primary key,
    v_name varchar2(25),
    v_add varchar2(15),
    city varchar2(15),
    st varchar2(15),
    zip number(10),
    tel number(11),
    fax number(11));
    now when i want 2 insert any row in the table i should be able 2 insert only "certain" characters of "certain" length depending on the constraints i have set. how do i do tht? coz java does not allow me 2 set the max chars like VB in the properties column
    i have my vendor Master class file here:

  • Updating tables from Java Stored Procedures

    "Oracle8i Tips & Techniques" says that Java Stored Procedures "should not modify any database tables" when called from Data Manipulation Language (DML) SQL (e.g. selects).
    I have a need to do this.
    Does any one know if I can call my Java from a PL/SQL stored procedure which is called from the DML SQL (e.g. via a function). That is to say java called from PL/SQL called from DML-SQL, or is this just hopeful thinking.
    Any other Ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    GT

    Uh, not JNI but JNDI you asked. And use of JNI should be generally discouraged unless there is absolutely no other way (like co-located CORBA code for decoupling+speed). Can you direct me to a HOW-TO Oracle DB JVM configuration page? I want to know how to configure the internal DB JVM in a hurry.
    Thank you,

  • Generating database tables from Java classes

    Hi,
    I've encountered a number of tools which will create Java classes from database tables (e.g. JDeveloper has this functionality, Abator provides this for iBATIS, etc...).
    However, I've not been able to locate any tools that perform the opposite job - i.e. given a Java class, it generates a database table (or, presumably, some SQL).
    It's been suggested to me that Hibernate might provide this sort of capability, but if anybody has any experience of doing this, in any tool, I'd be interested to hear about it.
    Thanks,
    Alistair.

    Many thanks for the pointers.
    duffymo: I've taken a look at Middlegen (http://boss.bekk.no/boss/middlegen/index.html) but it seems that the first step is to specify the database schema, whereas I'm looking to generate the schema from existing code. Or have I missed something?
    Alistair.

    Try this way I think you will need the user and password.

      // assuming user is root

      con = DriverManager.getConnection(connectionString);

  • How to Connect to Mysql databse from Java Studio Enterprise 8

    Hello everybody,
    I have a database in mysql in linux.I have downloaded Java Studio Enterprise 8.
    How is it possible to connect to mysql.

    hi
    u can connect to Mysql with the following code
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
                   String url1 = "jdbc:mysql://localhost/<database name>";

  • Update USR table from Java Code outside OIM

    Hi,
    I want to update a particular field in the USR table using the update query specifically from the java code. I dont want use updateUser api.
    I have written the code which works fine for some userids. But for some user ids it gets the tcUtility object successfully but when trying to execute the update query, it throws the tcDatasetException with message as Data Access Error.
    Please let me know how can i achieve this.
    Also let me know the groups the userid should be member to execute a update query on OIM DB from external java code..
    TIA...

    You are performing an unsupported process. I suggest you correctly code a connection to OIM, and perform the update correctly.
    If you need to update the database directly, use jdbc java connection and run the update. You can do a google search for jdbc and java to find plenty of samples.

  • Query MySQL table from login form.

    Probably a simple question, but I can't seem to get it. Here my
    my table on MySQL
    ID        Username        UFN           ULN             Password
    1         joSmith            John           Smith           encrypted
    2         jaSmith            Jane           Smith           encrypted
    3         jDoe                 John           Doe             encrypted
    When I login using username and password, I want to display the first name and last name for the user and display it on the next page. I can usually echo a _POST, but when it comes to sessions, this doesn't seem to work properly, as the next page doesn't know the variable.

    Sorry here is the code, its generated from the login user wizard from dreamweaver. It doesn't matter what code is on the second page as the session and post variables are "gone", I can't call on it. This code of course will successfully login to the restricted pages without issues.

  • Accessig mySQL table from Oracle/ODBC

    Hi all,
    my problem is about different data types between Oracle and mySQL and how i can "cast" them.
    My enviroment is:
    - Oracle Express 10g
    - mySql (in different machine)
    - using HS with ODBC
    In mySql i have a table with BIGINT column and TEXT column.
    I can query BIGINT column but the result isn't as i aspect, for example:
    in mySql: select itemid from items, returns in correct way:
    22676
    22677
    22679
    in Oracle: select "itemid" from "items"@hslink, returns:
    2.3285E+11
    2.3715E+11
    2.4574E+11
    With TEXT fields instead i receive a "sintax error":
    SQL> select "params" from "items"@hslink;
    ERROR:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    |Generic Connectivity Using ODBC||MySQL||ODBC 3.51 Driver||mysqld-5.0.51a-24+lenny2|You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"items" WHERE

    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from HSLINK
    The "params" column is declared TEXT in mySql and is seen as LONG from Oracle.
    At last, the general question is: in which way i have to manage or cast these different data types?
    thanks.
