  • ORA - 01031: insufficient privileges from report region

    Hi All,
    I'm getting below error from report region query (2 on a page and both return same error):
    failed to parse SQL query
    ORA - 01031: insufficient privileges
    When I refresh page, it does not throw error and displays proper data. Can anyone please advice what could have gone wrong here?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    It would be easy to help you if you please provide the details about your environment like Database & Apex version.
    Is the query in your report region is using tables? Are they in the same schema which your application's workspace is based on? Or are you using some DB Link or views or querying data from some other schema?
    Also trying using Debug option in Apex to get some idea what's actually executing behind it? Try that query in SQL Plus/SQL Developer and see what you are getting?

    hi all,
    i am presently working on logical standby database

    Vaibhav;
    Is the password file is missing at standby site? Or is the password different between primary/standby database?
    If yes I would correct by copying the password file from the primary to the standby and renaming to match your setup.

    Try this command :
    Alter database guard standby;Best Regards

  • Resolving problem with ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

    hello i just to write a few word about my installation of oracle database 9i
    My installation is on a Red Hat AS3
    I have a problem with the error :ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    The one who read this know what about i tell.
    The authorization is only for the user which Group is DBA as you can read everywhere.
    but me when i tried groupadd dba => it tells group already exist.
    but i can't find the group dba in the file /etc/group.
    So i tried to make my user 'oracle' works with the 'already group exist' dba .
    useradd -g dba oracle
    but when i tried to start the database i create i have the message. : ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    i tried to add manualy the group dba to /etc/group (as i can read in websites)
    and add a user manualy (/etc/passwd).
    But does works.
    I try all i can during 1 days long.
    I was really upset because nothing that i read work.
    finaly I go to the RedHat Menu (things i don't really do normaly on LINUX) and go to 'SYSTEM SETTINGS' and choose 'User and Group'
    Here i can see my user 'Oracle' I get the property of the user .
    there is a tab group ( 'select the group that the user will be member of:')
    None of them where name DBA so i decidied to select all of them and tried.
    MAGIC!!! then it works!!!
    ps: after when i see the list of the group I saw that one of them is named 'SYS' . I really think that it is the one group i had to select. but don't know.
    Now It is working for me so... And good luck for you. bye.

    Errors
    ORA-01031 "insufficient privileges"
    Symptoms
    During database upgrade phase using DBUA , it fails with error
    ORA-1031 Insufficient privileges
    Connection from sqlplus also fails with same error
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQLPLUS "conn / as sysdba"
    ORA-1031 Insufficient privileges
    Changing the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to SHARED / NONE does not make differen
    Cause
    ORACLE_HOME owner oramigts is part of OS group "dba" ,but config.s shows group "g680"
    The 'OSDBA' and 'OSOPER' groups are chosen at installation time and usually both default to the group 'dba'.
    These groups are compiled into the 'oracle' executable and so are the same for all databases running from a given ORACLE_HOME directory.
    The actual groups being used for OSDBA and OSOPER can be checked thus:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
    cat config.[cs]
    Solution
    To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    1. Checked the ORACLE_HOME owner.
    echo $ORACLE_HOME
    /h02/app/oracle/product/9.2.0_64
    cd / h02/app/oracle/product/
    ls -l
    drwxr-xr-x 58 oramigts dba 1024 Jan 2 2004 9.2.0_64
    2.ORACLE_HOME software owner "oramigts" is part of group "dba"
    3.Checked file $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/config.s
    [If your platform has config.c:
    Due to the way different compilers under different architectures generate
    assembler code, it's not possible to give a universal rule.]
    It shows dba group as "g680" where software owner is part of "dba" group
    You can more find detail on config.s / config.c in the following doc.
    Note 50507.1 SYSDBA and SYSOPER Privileges in Oracle
    4. Modified the config.s for correct group.
    .ascii "g680\0"
    to
    .ascii "dba\0"
    7. mv config.o config.o.bak
    8. make -f ins_rdbms.mk config.o ioracle
    9. Checked the file config.o is created at $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
    10. Connected / as sysdba thru Sqlplus from 9.2 Home, which connected sucessfully.

  • DMU - ORA-01031 Insufficient privileges err

    Hi I am trying to make a connection to a databse by using DMU. I am connecting as sys  as sysdba. I am getting an error ORA-01031 Insufficient privileges error.
    I can connect as sysdba on the server directly, so am pretty sure the password is correct.
    I did run the SYS.DBMS_DUMA_INTERNAL package script, and it ran successfully.
    SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/prvtdumi.plb
    Library created.
    Package created.
    No errors.
    Package body created.
    Is there anything else I need to do in order to connect to a database through DMU
    Thanks

    Check the note pointed to by Srini. (It is mainly about double-checking the password, because password test performed on the server may be misleading.)  If it does not help, set the file logging level to FINEST in DMU Preferences and then look into the log file. Is the error reported for the connection attempt itself or for some later internal operation logged in the log file?
    Thanks,
    Sergiusz

  • Error while Creating Master Repository: ORA-01031: insufficient Privileges

    Hi,
    I'm trying to install ODI into my VM.
    I have done the installation and while creating Master Repository, I'm getting following error:
    ORA-01031: insufficient Privileges
    I'm using Oracle & have created user as ODI_MASTER with Admin Privileges.
    I'll be using it to load metadata onto planning (Version 11.1.2)
    Is there anything that I'm missing out on.
    Jitendra.

    Seems missing grants on the user you are using to create Master Repository.
    you are using Oracle .. grant connect, resource to <your_user>. These two rolesa have sufficient access to db to create the master repository.
    execuute the sql from sys user

    Hi,
           It solved after change permission of directory that sapdba_role.sql kept to oradev:dba after that it can write sapdba_role.log.
          Thank you for your guideline.
          Now, I can ran 'Check database' via DB13 without that error.
    Best regards,
    Choosak B.

  • ORA-01031: insufficient privileges While Trying to Create a Trigger

    Hi
    I am trying to create a trigger on one of the table in the database schema :
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER Trigger_Name
    BEFORE INSERT ON table_name
    FOR EACH ROW
    ---Trigger Body...
    However I am getting the following error : ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    I have tried to check the status of the trigger with the following script :
    SELECT object_name
    FROM dba_objects
    WHERE object_type = 'TRIGGER'
    AND status = 'INVALID';
    and it is showing its status as "INVALID".
    Can anybody please suggest me how to proceed on this?

    Hi,
    If the trigger exists than you have privilieges to create trigger but you need some privilieges needed to compile it.
    Check all commands and objects you are referring to inside trigger body. Maybe you are trying select table without proper priviliege...?

  • ORA-01031: Insufficient privileges error in upgrading from 9.2.0.5 to 10.2

    Hi, I am using DBUA to upgrade oracle 9i database to 10g. In step 1 of 7 when I select 9i datagase to upgrade I get ORA-01031: Insufficient privileges error. However, I can connect to the database from 9i as well as 10g using SQLPlus. Any idea what could be going wrong? Thanks. Manish

    Check your REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE . If it is set to NONE, then make sure that SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) in your sqlnet.ora file.
    the OS user should be in ORA_DBA group.
    Try connecting as SYS,
    SQL> sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> connect / as sysdba

  • ORA-01031 insufficient privileges  error when selecting from a view

    OK I think this might be a dumb question but I can't figure it out:
    User John has been granted SELECT privilege (directly, not through a database role) to schema FRED.table1;
    User John can issue select * from FRED.table1; and it works just fine.
    User John has then been granted SELECT privilege (directly, not via a database role) to schema
    MARK.view1;
    MARK.view1 only selects from FRED.table1. No other tables are in the view1.
    Schema MARK can successfully query the views. SELECT * FROM VIEW1 returns results.
    I also checked the MARK schema to ensure that it has been granted SELECT on FRED.table1 directly which it has.
    Now, when logged into schema John, I try SELECT * FROM MARK.VIEW1; and I get ORA-01031 insufficient privileges error.
    I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. If John is granted SELECT ANY TABLE, it of course works but I don't want John to have that powerful priv.
    To recap, John has SELECT on both MARK.VIEW1 and the table which VIEW1 selects from (FRED.TABLE1).
    John can select from FRED.TABLE1 no problem but receives a privilege error even though John has SELECT on MARK.VIEW1.
    Any thoughts?
    Oh, Oracle EE 10.2.0.4

    Oh, Oracle EE 10.2.0.4Are you certain John has been granted select on Mark.view1 ? In order for that to work Mark would have to have been given select on Fred.table1 WITH GRANT OPTION ... otherwise the grant would fail and then John would not be able to select from the view because the grant was never successfully issued.
    Here's a basic test case (which i think conforms to what you've outlined) to get it working.
    drop user u1 cascade;
    drop user u2 cascade;
    drop user u3 cascade;
    create user u1 identified by u1;
    grant connect, resource to u1;
    create user u2 identified by u2;
    grant connect, resource, create view to u2;
    create user u3 identified by u3;
    grant connect, resource to u3;
    connect u1/u1@orcl
    create table test1 (col1 number);
    grant select on test1 to u2 with grant option; --> this is the important part
    grant select on test1 to u3;
    connect u2/u2@orcl
    create view test2 as select * from u1.test1;
    grant select on test2 to u3;
    connect u3/u3@orcl
    select * from u2.test2;

  • Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (ORA-01031: insufficient privileges)

    Hello,
    I am new to 10g Express. I am working on Windows XP and I have Oracle App Server and JDev install on my box. I just installed 10g Express. When I try to connect to the database but I get the following error msg:
    SQL> connect sys/admin as sysdba;

    I am also not able to see the homepage either.
    Can some please help.

    Are you saying you can only have one instance of an
    Oracle Database install if you are going to use
    Oracle XE?Yes.
    Oracle Database XE is free for usage with the following limitations:
    • Supports up to 4GB of user data (in addition to Oracle system data)
    • Single instance only of Oracle Database XE on any server
    • May be installed on a multiple CPU server, but only executes on one processor in any server
    • May be installed on a server with any amount of memory, but will only use up to 1GB RAM of available memory

  • ORA-01031: insufficient privileges - after upgrade from 2.1 to 3.0.1

    Hi I installed 10g with APEX 2.1 and started working on an app. I had the privs needed to do all DDL.
    I updated to 3.0.1 (not 3.1 because my work won't go to 3.1 yet)
    I started working on the app not problem with DML but I tried to create a function and found ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    Did I miss running a script after the install? Is there a POST install?

    Here are the results from PL?SQL Developer:
    select user from dual;
    1     EDIUSER
    select * from user_role_privs;
    1     EDIUSER     CONNECT     NO     YES     NO
    2     EDIUSER     DBA     NO     YES     NO
    3     EDIUSER     RESOURCE     NO     YES     NO
    select * from user_sys_privs;
    1     EDIUSER     UNLIMITED TABLESPACE     NO
    doesn't the roles give me all I need?
    And as I said, in PL/SQL Developer I can do anything.
    Here are the results from the APEX SQL Worksheet:
    select user from dual;
    ANONYMOUS
    select * from user_role_privs;
    EDIUSER     CONNECT     NO     YES     NO
    EDIUSER     DBA     NO     YES     NO
    EDIUSER     RESOURCE     NO     YES     NO
    select * from user_sys_privs;
