Any ideas what I should do?
    Thanks.

Cause: An incomplete recovery session was started, but an insufficient number of redo logs were applied to make the file consistent. The named file was not closed cleanly when it was last opened by the database. The most likely cause of this message is forgetting to restore the file from a backup before doing incomplete recovery.
Action: The file must be recovered to a time when it was not being updated. Either apply more redo logs until the file is consistent or restore the file from an older backup and repeat recovery.

  • ORA-01610: recovery using the BACKUP CONTROLFILE option must be done

    Hello All,
I have an instance on my LAB server. To explore more avenues in cloning a DB I did the following.
    1. On my Oracle 10g Instance I fired an large query which would take atleast an hour to execute.
    2. Opened another session and executed shu ABORT to shutdown the above instance abruptly.
    3. Took backup of datafiles, archive logs and redologs [ prior to shu abort, I had issued ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE]
    Restoration steps:
NOMOUNT with pfile edited to hold the name of the new DB_NAME
Create control file script edited to reflect the new paths of datafile and redologs.

    Greetings,
If I understood, you basically have a copy of a primary database and the redo log archives of this pretty same database, you have backed up the control file of this primary database, edited it pointing all paths of your datafiles to the new location but renaming the instance name.
I am assuming that you have edited the first line of your control file to something like "CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "DB02" RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG", in this case are you sure that the redolog archives have not loose the sequence? In this case it will ask more and more archives and it will never end, take a look at the date and time of the thread that your instance is asking for recovery. Is your instance a production database? If it is NOT production and you are SURE that the database is completely recovered and is asking for redolog files that does not even exist you can try to add the ALLOWRESETLOGS_CORRUPTION=TRUE to your init.ora and open the db... This solution is not recommended and you should never use it on production instances... take this hint as a LAST effort to bring your db online.
    Regards,
    Bruno Carvalho

  • Regarding RESETLOG and NORESETLOG option while creating a control file

    Hi,
I dont understand the need for resetlogs option while creating a controlfile for a db in NOARCHIVELOGMODE. I assume that reset logs clears all the redo log contents.
While taking a cold backup what I did was:
    1. Shutdown instance
    2. Copy all the files
    3. Startup
Now I tried recovering the same database on a new machine (with different path btw.) coz of which i had to create a new control file. My question is: while restoring the database, do I need to create the control file with NORESETLOG or RESETLOG option?
When I tried using the NORESETLOG (NOARCHIVELOG) option I was able to recover the instance without any hassles.
    ie
    1. STARTUP NOMOUNT
    2. CREATE NEW CONTROL FILE USING NORESETLOG (NOARCHIVELOG)
    3. RECOVER DATABASE
    4. ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
While the same thing with NORESETLOG (NOARCHIVELOG) option:
    1. STARTUP NOMOUNT
    2. CREATE NEW CONTROL FILE USING RESETLOG (NOARCHIVELOG)
    3. RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE
This step asked me for some archivelogs which were not generated since the db is in NOARCHIVELOG mode.
I wonder why we require the RESETLOG OPTION SINCE A NORMAL SHUTDOWN PERFORMED BEFORE COLD BACKUP would have ensured that there is no redo information left in the redo logs.
Please let me know if I am thinking the incorrect way.
    Regards and Thanx in Advance,
    Raj

If you had a db running in noarchivelog mode and had to clone the db and rename it, the create controlfile stmt:
create controlfile reuse <db_name> needs to be changed to: create controlfile SET <db_name>, in which case the db can only be opened with resetlogs. Hope this answers your question

    Hi,
So, you can set the parameter DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE
    by using this other node:
ALTER SYSTEM SET DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE=<size> SCOPE=spfile; And in the first node with problems to start the instance you can start like this:

ORA-19808: recovery destination parameter mismatchThe above error is normal in this moment because you must to set

  • Open database using resetlogs

    i am using 10g release 2 on oel 5.5
i am having cold backup of my db
i am also having a trace of control file
i added a few tablespace and tables then my redo and control files were deleted
i recreated the controlfiles using the trace resetlogs method
and then i recover the database using backup control file until cancel
    applied all the archives available
then i opened the database using resetlogs but the database is not opening saying that file system01.dbf requires more rcovery
so what should i do now to open the database??

  • Resetlogs Vs noresetlogs

    All,
Please let me know when to use resetlogs & when to user no restlogs.
And what is use of specifying resetlogs & no resetlogs at time of creating control file... anyway we specify the reset or no rest logs after recovey completes & while opening the DB(alter database open resetlogs).
    Thanks in advance.
    Regrads..

From what I understand, alter database resetlogs is always required when:
    - restoring from a backup controlfile (it does not have information about latest SCN)
    - incomplete recovery (you cannot use current redologs or redo logs are unavailable)
    - DB point in time recovery (relies on archivelogs to roll DB forward).
When opening database with resetlogs, you reset the SCN and start a new database incarnation.
Oracle uses noresetlogs when your database crashed and all files are available - this is automatic recover. You can also use noresetlogs when you restore a database using a backup controlfile from trace and all datafiles including online redologs are valid and the DB was shutdown properly (rare case).
In most cases when you restore and recover a databaes you use resetlogs, because the current onlline redo logfiles cannot be part of a backup.

  • HT4759 Is it true that when setting up devices with the find my phone app you must use the same account for ICloud ? If so how do I delete a current account to make it read as the other ICloud accounts?

I'm setting up my devices with the find my phone app. I have accomplished setting up 2 devices. The third I can't setup because I can't change the iCloud account.
My understanding from reading that the iCloud accounts must use the same name on all devices. How do I change that account in my phone settings?

You don't have to use the same iCloud account in order to track all your devices.  You just have to sign into the iCloud account being used on the device you are trying to track in order to track it.  When you sign in on icloud.com and open Find My iPhone, you will see all the devices with Find My iPhone enabled that are using the account you signed in with.  To track a device using a different account, simply sign out, then sign back in using the ID the new device is using.
The Find My iPhone app works the same way.  It will display devices based on the iCloud account you sign in with on the app.  To track a device using a different account, sign out, then sign back in with the iCloud ID that the new device is using.

If the site has been optimised for IE (which is non-standards compliant), the best you can try is to spoof IE from Safari.
I'm using an earlier version of Safari than you, so I hope Allan or someone will correct me if the procedure is different.
    First, go to Safari Preferences and enable the developer menu;
Then go to the menu and select User Agent - choose a flavour of IE.
Works about 50% of the time.
It won't work if the site is using Activex controls.

thanks in advance..Well, i don't see anything about these queries that makes sense.
You are essentially joining emp and dept on EMPNO to DEPTNO ... that doesn't usually make any sense.
How about you step back from the query which is almost certainly incorrect, and explain your tables, their data and what you need as output?
    Cheers,
