ORA-01618: redo thread 2 is not enabled - cannot mount

Hi Guru
I am using two node RAC instance , and drop redo log . after that i startup a node which was down then i found the following error
ORA-01618: redo thread 2 is not enabled - cannot mount
Pls advise me

Hi,
At a minimum you
- need to look up the error message in the online error messages manual, prior to posting
- you need to post your platform and your 4 digit database version
In a RAC instance each instance needs to have dedicated online redolog groups, called a thread.
You need to make sure (from v$log) your instances have separate redologs.
Secondly (the error message is already pointing to that), both instances need to have a thread enabled
--> alter database enable public thread <n>; -- usually 2

source database is accessed through a DB link.
    OWB version - 10.1.0.4.0
    Oracle - 9.2.0.6.0
Here mappings are getting executed by calling a pl/sql procedure. This pl/sql procedure is executed every day by scheduling a dbms_job. After the error, the job is in hanging.
Last week also the same error happened, on that occasion , restarted the database and re submitted the job. Mapping executed without any error.
    Looking for the expert comments

    Hi.
See Note:125860.1 in metalink (and please, lol to solution #3). It applies to older OWB versions though... Are you using DBMS_JOB or OEM to run these mappings? If so, then the metalink note might be useful help.
Karesz, I believe if the source database was down, it would fail with an ORA-12XXX Error.

  • HT not enabled???

    Hi guys!
I ran Sisoft Sandra 2004 just to see how my system was running.
I got very curious when I saw that Sandra claims that Hyper Threading
    was not enabled....!?!?
It is enabled in BIOS for sure!
    Any ideas?

    Hi LazySoft!
Are you on the forum all day?
Well, it seems you are right!
    Internal name is halaacpi.dll
I never even considered it to be a possibility
but I've learned to listen to the big guys!!
Now to the follow up question, will it do to just
do a repair installation of XP?
I do hope so since my HDD is full of "not so easily
reinstalled programs", about 80GB of them!
    TUSEN TACK för hjälpen!
    Now im off to bed!

  • Cannot mount root

    Hi.
I just installed the Solaris 8 from CD on Enterprise 420R. Went through the Install process ok. Formatted the disk in the process and accepted the system boot partition size of 512MB. Rebooted and now I get an error:
panic CPU0, cannot mount root, and then it reboots in the loop.
Any ideas what is wrong and how to get back to the boor prompt?
    Thanks a lot!

    Again, the detail error is

  • Remote Desktop Connection - cannot proceed because authentication is not enabled

    Hello,
I try to connect via RDP from a Windows Server 2008 R2 to another 2008 R2 Server.
I always get the error message.
The connection cannot proceed because authentication is not enabled and the remote computer requires than authentication be enabled to connect.
On the target machine the Remote Settings are set to:
Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop.
Firewall is disabled on both servers.
Therefor I do not understand why I get an error message, that authentication is required.
The target box is a nearly fresh syspreped machine with all current Hotfixes installed.
I already found a lot of people having that problem by using XP (old RDP client), but no one seems to have this problem when connecting from 2008 R2 to 2008 R2.
Thank you very much in advance for every hint.
    BR
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
First I would like to confirm if you have deployed RDS (Remote Desktop Services) and you got the error, if so, please check this option
TS Configuration, >> RDP-Tcp Properties >> change the Security Layer to "Negotiate"
Then Recycle the TS Gateway service.
    Refer to:
Unable to connect to Server using the Remote Web Workplace (RWW) Small Business Server 2008
If this issue has nothing to do with RDS, and I suppose you used the cmd "mstsc" to remote access. This issue may also occur because of the version of mstsc, please make sure it has been upgraded to the new version.
In addition, Did you have another newer server available like Server 2012? So we can test and try to use Server 2012 to remote access Server 2008 R2, and check if the issue persists.
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

As suggested already, you need to install the Partitioning option from the OUI. Please run OUI from your oracle home (locate it from Start>All Programs) . It will load a product listing file, in the end , a listing of features would be shown to you which would show Partitioning as a new install . Do the installatation and you should be fine.

  • Error: ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Managed Standby

Hi there, after I turned on auto archiving in the init.ora file (altered archivelog) and started up the DB, I get the error "ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Managed Standby" while starting up the instance. Under the Alert log, it said License_max_session = 0 and license_sessions_warning = 0. Is that mean I need licenses in order to turn Auto archiving on? how?
PS: I can "alter system archive log start to '...';" though when the instance is open.
    Thanks,
    -Harry

I couldn't agree more with Kin..
Are you running Enterprise Edition? If not, Managed Recovery Mode, is available only with the Enterprise Edition of 8.1.x. This
may be why you are getting this error. Also, check v$option and see what 'Managed Standby' option shows, TRUE or FALSE. If
FALSE and you are running Enterprise Edition, then you may want to post to the Microsoft forum regarding getting this installed.
It would also help to know what your 'compatibility' parameter is set to.
    I have read numerous...views..
    some syntoms:
    - enabling my database mode to archivelog
However when you take out the parameter
log_archive_dest_1 parameter and added the old log_archive_dest paremeter then database opened fine.
also if you remove the word location and the
    character =
    it might just work.
    hope this helps

  • Enabled Hyper-V causes "System thread exception not handled" BSOD in builds 10041 and 10049

I had a Windows 10 TP build 9926 installation with Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition installed, when build 10041 was released Windows Update tried to install it but after restart it got BSOD with "System thread exception not handled" text and
reverted back to 9926 with error code 0xC1900101-0x40017. I tried update from ISO, got the same BSOD. Tried clean installation, it worked.
I decided to install software and restart the system after each installation and discovered that installing Visual Studio 2015 CTP6 caused BSOD after restart if and only if emulators were included. Installation of  Visual Studio 2015 CTP6 without emulators
and then installation of Tools for Windows 10 also caused BSOD with "System thread exception not handled" error after restart.
So I thought that it was Hyper-V related and disabled hardware virtualisation in BIOS settings. It worked, system successfully booted, but, of course, Tools for Windows 10 setup showed up and told me about fail in UAP for Windows Phone package.
So, my hardware is Gigabyte GA-A75N-USB3 motherboard with AMD A8-3870 APU with integrated graphics, Intel SSDSA2CW080G3 80GB SSD and 8 GB RAM.
Steps to reproduce are to enable "Virtualisation" item in BIOS settings, install Windows 10 Technology Preview Build 10041, install Visual Studio 2015 CTP6, install Visual Studio Tools for Windows 10 Preview, restart the system and
see blue screen with white text of description of "System thread exception not handled" error.

Same issue, MSI A75MA-G55 AMD Fusion Socket FM1 with A8-3850 APU, 16GB RAM.  Hyper-V worked in 9926, but broke in 10041 and remains broken in 10049.  I have found that if you get in this BSOD loop, you can boot to Safe Mode and Un-install Hyper-V
to recover.  10041 was an update to 9926, and 10049 was a clean install.

    my sqlnet.ora is:
    ============
    # sqlnet.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    # This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers choose to
    # install "Software Only", this file wont exist and without the native
    # authentication, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

12514, 00000, "TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor"
// *Cause:  The listener received a request to establish a connection to a
// database or other service. The connect descriptor received by the listener
// specified a service name for a service (usually a database service)
// that either has not yet dynamically registered with the listener or has
// not been statically configured for the listener.  This may be a temporary
// condition such as after the listener has started, but before the database
// instance has registered with the listener.
    // *Action:
//  - Wait a moment and try to connect a second time.
//  - Check which services are currently known by the listener by executing:
    //    lsnrctl services <listener name>
//  - Check that the SERVICE_NAME parameter in the connect descriptor of the
//    net service name used specifies a service known by the listener.
//  - If an easy connect naming connect identifier was used, check that
//    the service name specified is a service known by the listener.
//  - Check for an event in the listener.log file.

  • RFS[15]: Archivelog thread 1 sequence 3066 cannot be reused

During learning DataGuard on Windows 20003 in Oracle 10g, i run the shutdown abort command on the primary to see if fast-start failover is working, it was completed successfully and standby database became primary.
But on my new standby database which was previously primary, i am getting the following error:
    >
RFS[15]: Archivelog thread 1 sequence 3066 cannot be reused
    >
    Can any body help?

In this environment, i have total three databases. One is primary which was previously physical standby database, second is logical standby database and third one which is in problem is the physical standby database.
