ORA-01861 on call to stored procedure

I'm trying to pass a date type to stored procedure and I get this error. Here's my code any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Dim expiresParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("expires", OracleDbType.Date)
expiresParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
Dim od As OracleDate = New OracleDate(expires)
expiresParam.Value = od
Expires is defined as ByVal expires As System.DateTime

I changed the date field to a varchar2 field and I still get an ORA-01861 - any ideas what causes this on a called to a stored proc? Here's the entire code snippet
Protected Shared Function SprocCreateSecurityToken(ByVal token As String, ByVal expires As System.DateTime, ByVal MachineName As String, _
ByVal UserName As String, ByVal EmployeeNo As Integer) As Integer

' parameters...
Dim tokenParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("Token", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 256)
tokenParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
tokenParam.Value = token
'Dim expiresParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("expires", OracleDbType.Date, 20)
'expiresParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
'Dim od As OracleDate = New OracleDate(expires)
'expiresParam.Value = od
Dim expiresParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("expires", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 20)
expiresParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
expiresParam.Value = expires.ToString
Dim MachineNameParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("MachineName", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 64)
MachineNameParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
'MachineNameParam.Value = MachineName
MachineNameParam.Value = "123"
Dim UserNameParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("UserName", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 64)
UserNameParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
UserNameParam.Value = UserName
Dim EmployeeNoParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("EmployeeNo", OracleDbType.Int64, 6)
EmployeeNoParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
EmployeeNoParam.Value = EmployeeNo
Dim returnValueParam As OracleParameter = command.Parameters.Add("RETVAL", OracleDbType.Int64)
returnValueParam.Direction = ParameterDirection.ReturnValue
' execute...
command.ExecuteNonQuery()
' cleanup...
command.Dispose()
connection.Close()
' return...
Return CInt(returnValueParam.Value)
End Function
The exception is returned on the ExecuteNonQuery

  • ORA-03115 error when calling a Stored Procedure

    Hi All,
    I'm in the process of porting a Pro/C app from NT to Linux. I've installed 8.1.5 on our Linux box and patched it up to 8.1.5.02.
    It all kind of works ok, except that I'm sometimes getting ORA-03115 errors when the app calls a stored procedure. The call in question looks like this:
    EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION;
    VARCHAR resprows[50][3998];
    int numret = 0;
    int numrows= 50;
    int done= 0;
    unsigned long resp_id = 0;
    EXEC SQL END DECLARE SECTION;
    EXEC SQL AT DB_NAME EXECUTE
    BEGIN pkg_something.getdata(
    :resp_id, /* IN */
    :numrows, /* IN */
    :done, /* OUT */
    :resprows, /* OUT */
    :numret /* OUT */
    END;
    END-EXEC;
    The stored procedure basically uses the resp_id value to select rows from a table;
    in each row there is a VARCHAR2(4000) column which it copies into the hostarray resprows.
    There may be anything from 1 to numrows returned from the SP.
    Initially, the resprows rows were defined to be size [4000]. Unfortunately, this caused ORA-02005 errors - I then changed the size to [3998], which seemed to fix the 02005's (although I'm unclear as to the reasons why).
    Now I'm getting the 03115 errors when calling the SP. The oracle manual is not very helpful on what this error means.
    This all works chipper on NT.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nigel.
    PS: The database the app is talking to is still hosted on NT.

    The procedure and package have both compiled without errors and the statement on its own works fine in SQL*Plus.I suggest you take a look in the USER_ERRORS view to see, what the errors are.
    And just checking:
    You have schema called LAZARUS, which holds a package named LAZARUS, which holds a procedure called POPULATEGRIDPOSITIONS?

  • Error while calling a stored procedure with OUT parameter.

    Hi,
    I am trying to call a Stored Procedure(SP) with an OUT parameter(Ref Cursor) from a third party tool. It is called using OLE-DB Data provider. In one database the procedure works fine but when I change the database the procedure call is giving following error.
    Distribution Object:     COM Error. COM Source: OraOLEDB. COM Error message: IDispatch error #3092. COM Description: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:

    I am not able to find as to why is this happening. Please let me know any clues /help to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you're using Oracle Provider for OLE DB (OraOLEDB) to execute this stored procedure, you need to set PLSQLRSet attribute. This attribute can be set in registry, connection string, or command object. Please refer to User Documentation for more information.

    The first solution is to not do that in java in the first place.
    DDL should be in script files which are applied to oracle outside of java.
    Other than I believe there are some existing stored procedures in Oracle that take DDL strings and process them. Your user has to have permission of course. You can track them down via the documentation.

    Hi,
    I have the same problem to call a stored Procedure in a Package.
    If my procedure is not in a package, everything is right.
    And I musn't indicate all the name, because I musn't put '.' in the name (of the procedure), in my DT on XI.
    It would be so nice to have an answer.

    Anwar is likely correct about the reason for your error. The other possibility is that the owner of the procedure calling mapping_audit_errors_inserts does not have SELECT on the sequence granted directly to them.
    However, even after creating the sequence, if the session calling the procedure has not got a value from the sequence prior to trying to use CURRVAL, you will get:
    SQL> CREATE PROCEDURE p(p_id IN NUMBER) AS

  • Error calling a stored procedure from C#

    Please help me!
    I'm new in .net technology.
    I have an Oracle 9i server and an application in .net C# language.
    I'm trying to call a stored procedure written in plsql.
    This is the testing procedure:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST_PROC
    par_1 in number
    as
    begin
    insert into tbltestinput (number_col) values (par_1);
    commit;
    end;
    And the calling code is:
    OracleCommand objCmd = new OracleCommand("TEST_PROC",conn);
    objCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    OracleParameter inPar_1 = new OracleParameter();
    inPar_1.OracleType = OracleType.Number;
    inPar_1.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    inPar_1.Value = 123456;
    objCmd.Parameters.Add(inPar_1);
    objCmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    It returns this error:
    Exception Message: ORA-06550: row 1, column 7: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'TEST_PROC' ORA-06550: row 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    Exception Source: System.Data.OracleClient
    The stored procedure is very very simple to test only the call.
    Anybody can help me.
    Thanks !!!!

    Hello,
    System.Data.OracleClient == Microsoft provider for Oracle (whereas this is the Oracle Data Provider for .NET forum).
    However, the MS provider operates in Bind By Name mode, so you might try adding this to your code:
    inPar_1.ParameterName = "par_1";Perhaps that will help a bit,

    This looks like a sql syntax error.
    Can you show the SQL you are trying to execute via toplink?
    Is the stored procedure valid/compiled? Can you call it in SQLPlus or from the sql worksheet in jdeveloper?

  • Calling Remote Stored Procedure from Pocket PC

    Hi all,
    I have finished building an application based on IBM's SMF framework which conforms to the OSGI standards. Currently, I am having a problem with connecting to the main server DB which resides on a Websphere server. Basically, user will enter information on their pocket pc and then save it to a local DB2e database. I thought about going with the synchronization solution with the DB2 Sync server, but really all the user is trying to do is updating records in the main server database tables and there's really no need to sync anything back from the server to the pocket pc. So, I m thinking maybe I should try to invoke a stored procedure that resides on the main DB server from my device, passing in parameters through a WLAN connection.
    My question now is:
    1. user should be connecting through a WLAN connection and my company have set up a login that prompts the user to login everytime they try to access anything on the server. It won't be nice if the user will hv to do that every single time. Is there a way that I can log the user in programmatically so they do not have to do it with a separate log in window?
    2. Is calling a remote stored procedure a bad idea?
    3. If the network goes down, then there's no way the users can update anything to the main server DB. So, the changes will be saved locally and once the network goes back up, the user should be able to update those changes back to the server. I am just wondering if it's bad to do a loop and send those updates to the server by calling the stored procedures repeatedly passing in diff. parameters? what safeguards do I need to put in? like what exceptions should I expect to catch? also, I would like to be able to track those updates that failed, how do I do that?
    Any help will be appreciated. I tried to find resources online, but to no avail. I am not sure if I am overly complicated things. Please advice! Thanks alot everyone!

    The error message is:
    ORA-04067: not executed, stored procedure "schema.P$PROC@remote_db" does not exist

  • Trying to call a stored procedure from C# (and failing)

    Hi;
    Two questions on this. The first is - is there a way to call a stored procedure, including passing paramaters, where the entire request is in a single string? I ask because our app lets users enter any select and so if we have to break out the parameters, then we will have to parse their select string and I worry that we will miss some of the select syntax and not always parse the select correctly.
    Second, the following is telling me:
    System.Data.OracleClient.OracleException was unhandled
    Message="ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:\nPLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'ADD_JOB_HISTORY'\nORA-06550: line 1, column 7:\nPL/SQL: Statement ignored\n"

    This is calling ADD_JOB_HISTORY in the XE/HR database. How do I figure out what it is unhappy with? I have tried every variation I can think of for this. Latest is:
                             cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
                             cmd.CommandText = "ADD_JOB_HISTORY";
                             OracleParameter param = new OracleParameter("employee_id", OracleType.Number);
                             param.Value = 123;
                             cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
                             param = new OracleParameter("start_date", OracleType.DateTime);
                             param.Value = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(-1).Date;
                             cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
                             param = new OracleParameter("end_date", OracleType.DateTime);
                             param.Value = DateTime.Now.Date;
                             cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
                             param = new OracleParameter("job_id", OracleType.NVarChar);
                             param.Value = "SA_MAN";
                             cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
                             param = new OracleParameter("department_id", OracleType.Number);
                             param.Value = 10;
                             cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
    thanks - dave

    Dave,
    You can pass an entire select statement as single parameter, such as a varchar2. Then, you just have PL/SQL execute the SQL statement for you.
    Here's a code sample using ODP.NET for the same stored procedure that will work for the call to ADD_JOB_HISTORY. It appears you are using MS OracleClient in your code.
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Data;
    using Oracle.DataAccess.Client;
    namespace ConsoleApplication1
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    try
    OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection();
    con.ConnectionString = "User ID=hr;Password=hr;Data Source=xe;";
    con.Open();
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand();
    cmd.Connection = con;
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    cmd.CommandText = "ADD_JOB_HISTORY";
    OracleParameter param = new OracleParameter("employee_id", OracleDbType.Int16);
    param.Value = 123;
    cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
    param = new OracleParameter("start_date", OracleDbType.Date);
    param.Value = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(-1).Date;
    cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
    param = new OracleParameter("end_date", OracleDbType.Date);
    param.Value = DateTime.Now.Date;
    cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
    param = new OracleParameter("job_id", OracleDbType.NVarchar2);
    param.Value = "SA_MAN";
    cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
    param = new OracleParameter("department_id", OracleDbType.Int16);
    param.Value = 10;
    cmd.Parameters.Add(param);
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    Console.ReadLine();
    catch (Exception ex)
    Console.WriteLine(ex.Message.ToString());
    Console.WriteLine(ex.StackTrace.ToString());
    }
