ORA-01935: missing user or role name
Hello. I'm trying to change a users password, logged in as SYS. I'm using the script:
ALTER USER dross IDENTIFIED BY 1111;
Also tried:
ALTER USER "dross" IDENTIFIED BY "1111";
ALTER USER 'dross' IDENTIFIED BY '1111';
ALTER USER 'dross' IDENTIFIED BY 1111;
ALTER USER "dross" IDENTIFIED BY 1111;
Any suggestions on what I could do?

ORA-01506: missing or illegal database name
Hi Gurus/Experts,
I am implementing dataguard for digaster consideration for my primary database mydb. I have changed some initilization parameter for this implementation and while doing this when I changed a paraneter like below:
SQL> alter system set db_file_name_convert="'/u01/app/oracle/oradata/mydb_un', '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl_un'" scope=spfile;
System altered.
Because this parameter is static so I have restart my database with startup force option. But I am getting belwo error.:

As of now I do not have standby INIT file and one which INIT file which I am showing here that's for my primary database i.e mydb. I would like to let you know I am planning to implement dataguard where mydb would be my primary database ad orcl would be my stabd by database. Before creating standby database I am preparing all initilization parameter in my primary database.
I have started my database with SYSDBA but still getting the same error. Please check below:
[oracle@localhost ~]$ . oraenv
ORACLE_SID = [oracle] ? mydb
The Oracle base for ORACLE_HOME=/u01/home/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1 is /u01/app/oracle

Search Users by Group(Role) Name
In OIM 9g, I can search users by group name like below:
searchFor.put("Groups.Group Name", "my group");
tcResultSet users = userOp.findUsers(searchFor);
But it does not work in 11g, change "Groups.Group Name" to ""Groups.Role Name", don't work neither.
Does anyone know how to search users by Role name in 11g?Use RoleManager Class and the following API
criteria = new SearchCriteria(RoleManagerConstants.ROLE_NAME, "*", SearchCriteria.Operator.EQUAL);
roles = roleManager.search(criteria, attrNames, mapParams);http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/apirefs.1111/e17334/oracle/iam/identity/rolemgmt/api/RoleManager.html#getRoleMembers_java_lang_String__boolean_

Hello Gurus,
We have a strange issue in our ECC production environment. The role assignments for a few users are missing. The roles were assigned to these users almost a year back. The change documents do not show any record of the role assignment being deleted.
In SU01 in display mode the profiles for the roles are still assigned to the user, but when one tries to edit the user master data the profiles also get deleted from user and the change is shown against the name of the admin who has tried to edit the user master.
This problem is seen to happen randomly for various roles and various users.
What could be causing such an issue?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Regards,
SubbuHi Subra,
Prgn_compress_time removes the expired roles .Also check USH* tables like USH02, USH04 ...for Change history.
The role assignments for a few users are missing. The roles were assigned to these users almost a year back.
Did you transport the roles to the production properly after making changes. (if any).
re-transport the roles once again.
Thanks,

FND_USER_PKG.CreateUser - ORA-20001: Custom user name validation

Need Help Regarding Users and Roles
Hi,
I have Created a role with Password authentication and in that role only object privilege (SELECT TABLE) and System Privilige (CREATE SESSION)
Now I created user name abbasi and add above role to it and make that role as its default role.
Now when I connect above user from SQL*Plus its Connected.
I want to know since for there is Password Authentication then why during the session databse server not authenticate for role password.
Actually I want to know real usage of password autheticated role.

OIM 9.1.0.2 ORA-0936 encountered when provisioning roles
I've configured an Access Policy that provisions users without requiring approval to a DB through the DB connector. It also provisions them with roles: CONNECT and DBA.
The latter was achieved by making Role provisioning dependent upon User creation completion in the Access Policy. The Access Policy is also where the roles are specified.
The user is created and role provisioning fires OK, but gets rejected.
The relevant section in the log looks like this:

There is an article about this on Oracle support, which I think is relevant, it states:
CAUSE
The error is caused by the fact that the rule is based on the values of the process form which are not yet commited to the database.
The usage of the process form will be avoided when creating rules for prepopulate adapters.
SOLUTION
Create a rule based on the "Request Target Information" which is reffering attributes of the OIM target user which has to be provisioned.
Suppose an access policy is used and this is based on a specific autogroup membership, the same rule can be used when creating the rule for the prepopulate adapter.
Unfortunately, this is greek to me.
Can anyone explain how I can resolve this problem with the role provisioning?
Many thanks,
2Hugh
Edited by: 2hughg on 08-Mar-2011 09:19I had a privilege provisioning task set up as well, when I removed that, the error condition went away.

I am required to run "pass-through" Oracle SQL, to extract data from tables into SAS for processing and manipulation. My code (attached) reads and writes (executes) but with zero records to test first. I cannot get past the Prepare Error.
The query is very much like other queries that seem to work, but I cannot get past this prepare error. I have no other access to individauls with adequate knowledge of PL SQL, and as a last stop hoped others in the forum could quickly spot the source of errror.
Thanks very much in advance for any assistance.
Jeff

184Hello Again ,
Wish Oracle was a bit more informative. Am using a SAS Institute Product called Enterprise Guide. A "hot fix" was installed to address an issue that the product appears unable to save the latest version of edited code changes (hence " BETWEEN between" remaining even after a prior edit). In any case, with the change, am now receiving this error:
" ERROR: ORACLE prepare error: ORA-00904: "PHRMCY_CLM_FACT"."LAST_SRVC_DT": invalid identifier". (Log file appears below)
-The error remains, regardless of whether one uses "pass through" code to pass the date range to Oracle (which looks ok from the log output below I believe), or if I hard code the date range into the PL SQL query itself.
-The Prepare error always appears at end of the inner SELECT.
-The Prepare error remains, with or without the GROUP BY clause.
Is there anything else here I am missing? Someone suggested a reserve word - but from other ANSI SQL versions, I do not see that is the case. I have consulted SAS Tech Support and SAS List Serve at University of GA. but nothing definitive from these sources. Have requested facility to be able to run Oracle directly, outside this SAS Institute product - in process.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone very much.
Jeff

IFS Install (Config) Fails with "ORA-00922: missing or invalid option"
Greetings:
Thanks for your help in advance...
Towards the end of IFS installation, I get the following error in my
IfsConfigOut.log file (This happens towards the end of the installation). I
am Installing IFS on Oracle 9i (9.0.1.1 version) instance on Win 2K (P-III,
800Mhz, 512Mb) . After this installation error, all the 9iFS directories
and nodes are detected under OEM but when I start the domain I get no
response for the same.

We were having this problem because IFS installation was not recognising a separate tablespace which we created for IFS, so we started using default USERS tablespace after which the installation was successful.

ORA-00936:missing expression Error
I have what I would think was a simple SQL for Excel; but for some reason I keep getting the ORA-00936 missing expression error message.
The SELECT AND FROM of the SQL are no problem. It's the Where portion of the SQL statement where it messes up. I have many user input required parameters. But I tested out the same SQL statement in Toad for Oracle and it worked fine.
I'm wondering at this point if it's just too much for Excel.
Here's the code from the "Where" portion of the SQL that worked in Toad for Oracle. I believe I have to change some of the syntax to get it to work in Excel; and I'm wondering if anyone knows the true correct way to do this. Because I'm also wondering if that's where I'm going wrong.
Anyway, here's the code:
WHERE ( (a_compl_summary.product_division = 'CP')
AND ( a_compl_summary.entry_date >= :date1
AND a_compl_summary.entry_date <= :date2
AND ( a_compl_summary.product_family LIKE :pf1
OR a_compl_summary.product_family LIKE :pf2
OR a_compl_summary.product_family LIKE :pf3
OR a_compl_summary.product_family LIKE :pf4
OR a_compl_summary.product_family LIKE :pf5
AND (a_compl_summary.region = :r1)
AND ( a_compl_summary.NAME = :c1
OR a_compl_summary.NAME = :c2
OR a_compl_summary.NAME = :c3
OR a_compl_summary.NAME = :c4
OR a_compl_summary.NAME = :c5
AND (a_compl_summary.complaint = :yorn)
AND ( rp_qa_reported_device_codes.reported_dev_clarification LIKE
:cl1
OR rp_qa_reported_device_codes.reported_dev_clarification LIKE
:cl2
OR rp_qa_reported_device_codes.reported_dev_clarification LIKE
:cl3
OR rp_qa_reported_device_codes.reported_dev_clarification LIKE
:cl4
OR rp_qa_reported_device_codes.reported_dev_clarification LIKE
:cl5
AND (rp_qa_reported_device_codes.reported_dev_clarification NOT LIKE
:dc1
AND (a_compl_summary.incident_number =
rp_qa_patient_codes.incident_number
AND (a_compl_summary.case_number = rp_qa_patient_codes.case_number)
AND (a_compl_summary.part_sequence = rp_qa_patient_codes.part_sequence
AND (a_compl_summary.incident_number =
rp_qa_reported_device_codes.incident_number
AND (a_compl_summary.case_number =
rp_qa_reported_device_codes.case_number
AND (a_compl_summary.part_sequence =
rp_qa_reported_device_codes.part_sequence
AND (rp_qa_reported_device_codes.incident_number =
rp_qa_patient_codes.incident_number
AND (rp_qa_reported_device_codes.case_number =
rp_qa_patient_codes.case_number
AND (rp_qa_reported_device_codes.part_sequence =
rp_qa_patient_codes.part_sequence
)But are the ":parameter1" okay, or do I need to change the syntax for Excel?
Because when I change the[b] :parameter to just a ? it ends up working to a degree. When I have too many parameters Excel ends up bailing on me with a Debug, Send Error Report box popping up.
