Hi All,
I'm currently preparing for the Oracle 9i dba exam.
The test content checklist contains the following :
'List the benefits of core library improvements'
Does anybody know more about this ?
I searched the 9i docs but cannot find any reference to so-
called 'core library improvements' !?

Core library is further modularized.
Reduced dependencies between modules:
7 Applications pull in smaller chucks, improving memory usage.
7 Smart linkers pull objects into the executables, based upon
their atomic level (object files) and their dependencies.
The result of these changes improve memory usage because
applications acquire smaller modules, and require less memory
overall. Also, applications need a smaller number of modules to
be linked together to meet dependency requirements.
I am taking the test on 12/03/01 when are you taking?

Upgrading to SuSe 6.2 would probably do the trick. Upgrade is

As long as your operating system name doesn't start with "MS"
you should be OK.

[Xcode 4.0.1] Internal error installing Mac OS X 10.6 core library

Hi folks, this is on a clean 1-month old mac running 10.6.7, with a fresh install of Xcode 4 from the app store. The "documentation" tab in the options allow you to install the mac os 10.6 core library documentation. It downloads the package but fails to install it. Here's the error:
"Internal error installing Mac OS X 10.6 Core Library". Install process rejected install attempt.
What can be done to fix this? Thanks.

step 1 : Exit XCode And Remove Old Mac OS X 10.6 Core Library.
Default Position :
/Library/Developer/Documentation/DocSets
File Name :
com.apple.adc.documentation.AppleSnowLeopard.CoreReference.docset
step 2 : Download Again.
Open XCode And Select Menu XCode / Preferences... / Documentation,
get Mac OS X 10.6 Core Library(661 MB) Again.
ps : In Fact, file size is 1.31 GB, Not 661 MB

I'm using Webcenter 11.1.1.4 in my WLS embedded, when I enable to preserve the customizations across applications runs I get the error when I navegate in my portal:

I just did some tests and i could not reproduce the problem.
These are the steps i made for trying to reproduce the problem:
1) Create a new css file in the oracle/webcenter/portalapp/skins folder
2) Right click on the css and select Create portlet resource
3) Press OK
4) Run the portal
5) Login with admin and go to the configuration tab of the admin page
6) Select my newly created skin
7) Back to portal
8) Back to admin page and look at the config, my skin is still selected and no error in the logs...
did you create the skin in another folder or did you use another method to create the skin?

Xcode 4.1: Failed to download documentation package for Mac OS X 10.7 Core Library.

I have installed Xcode 4.1 in Mac OS lion 10.7, Xcode is failed to download the Mac OS X 10.7 Core Library, but Xcode4.1 download Xcode4.1 developer library successfully. who knows why it is?

Nothing official, yet. But I don't think this will ever have official response. If it is a policy change and not a bug, we won't get an official response. If we were to get one, we would already have, and no onw would wait until we found that out by ourselves.

Oracle.applcore.model library to access ADF VOs

We have an ADF application, which has VO definition created. We want to use same VOs for reporting purpose.
As per document Working with ADF Business Component Data Sources, we need to add following entry in weblogic-application.xml file.

<library-name>oracle.applcore.model</library-name>
<implementation-version>11.1.1.0.0</implementation-version>
</library-ref>
It means I should have oracle.applcore.model as a shared library in my weblogic. I don't have this library. How to get this?

Actually, I may have spoken too soon. I've implemented as per your example, but my action operation (ExecuteWithParams or just Execute) returns null. I notice that your code uses operation.Invoke() instead of operation.execute(). Is there a particular reason for this?
Is there some restriction on the methodAction being used - e.g. must it be a method you've defined yourself? Instead of an out-of-the-box action like ExecuteWithParams?

Oracle.mds.core.MetadataNotFoundException when deploying EAR into local WLS

Hi all,
I tried to search the forum and read this: How to get rid of MDS I checked the domain path: C:\JDev11g_Home\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\DefaultDomain, no space in the path. I searched this file it complains "adf-config.xml", couldn't find such file in my application at all. (My app is migrated from 10g to 11g using Trinidad.) I am using JDEV 11.1.14.0 and WLS 10.
Also, I tried these 2 scenarios when creating the EAR file: include / exclude these 2 jars: mdsrt.jar & oramds.jar, (Though I don't think this is the cause since it doesn't complain ClassNotFoundException.) same deployment error.
Below is the console output when deploying the EAR:

Yes, I found this file in that folder. But, I checked the EAR file which is created from ant script such that there's no such adf-config.xml file at all anywhere in the EAR file inlcuding within the WAR file of the EAR. I also check another EAR file (of another application) and didn't see such adf-config.xml file either, but that EAR file is able to be deployed successfully in the local WLS. Both applications are migrated from 10g to 11g. I checked the other application for the build script and these 2 MDS jars are not used at all. I tried to remove these 2 MDS jars from the EAR file, but still same MDS-00013 error. Why will this occur in one app, but not in another app? Is there something I am missing?

Hi Experts.
I'm following the http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10540/adf.htm guide
It is written:
On the Select Domain Source screen, ensure that Basic WebLogic Server Domain, Oracle JRF, and Oracle Application Core (Webapp) are selected.
There is no Oracle Application Core (Webapp) in the options list.
What Oracle component ships this domain template?

and I do have the template "Oracle Application Core (Webapp)" listed. Can you confirm details of the environment that you are trying this ? Also do note that the templates are not in alphabetical order so you'll need to manually search the list ..

Download Oracle Spatial Java Library

Hi,
Has anyone been able to download the Oracle Spatial Java Library? The error I receive is that I have agreed to the license terms even though I have checked all the check boxes and clicked on "I Agree". The same happens when trying to download the documentation for the same product and I am logged in at the time.

If you have oracle enterprise , oracle spatial java library comes bundled with it.
You may look at $ora_home/product/{version}/db_1/md/jlib/sdoapi.jar , just change the path according to your installation. I just tried to provide you an hint.

Oracle Database Documentation Library search button not working

Dear all,
After downloading the Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2) documentation, I extracted the tar file to "D:\Documentations\Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2)" directory, and under this directory, there is a file called index.htm. When I open this file in a browser, the "Oracle Database Documentation Library 11g Release 2 (11.2)" page appear. On the top left of this page, there is a search button, but it does not work. The browser will throw the following error:
Sorry, "tahiti-stage.us.oracle.com" does not exist or could not be found
Can anyone please advice if there a way to fix this search issue. Thank you very much in advance.
At the moment, I'm relying on http://tahiti.oracle.com/, but at times, this site can be quite slow.

Thank you for this alert. A fixed version of the zip has been posted. The problem has existed since last Thursday's update. (Update details are in the RSS feed: http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/new_html ) There is no offline search capability for the Database documentation so the correct behavior -- and the behavior in the recently updated zip -- is to direct queries to Tahiti as you are already doing.

Oracle on Linux Library Files Equivalent

Hi
I installed RedHat Linux 6.0 and installed oracle downloaded. I
have problem when porting my c programs, the following files are
not available under LINUX where these library file are reqd in
my earlier version on HP-Unix.
Problem Summary :what is the equivalent of
libcv6.a libc3v6.a libsqlnet.a libcore3.a
Can someone let me know the equivalent files or any alternate
solution to proceed further
