Oracle 9i Library issue

Firstly, I'm not a DBA, I'm a developer who has been
waiting for weeks for the sysadmins to fix a DB they
know nothing about.
We run an Oracle 9i database and forms server on
Solaris 9. On one machine everything works fine, and
on another machine (which is supposed to be identical
for the Oracle setup) I'm running into a couple
different errors.
When I run 'sqlplus' I get:
ld.so.1: sqlplus: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open
failed: No such file or directory
When I run 'oracle' I get:
ld.so.1: oracle: fatal: libodm9.so: open failed: No
such file or directory
I did some searching, and I checked in
$ORACLE_HOME/lib and found both libraries. My
/oracle/product directories seem to be the same, but
~oracle isn't. The working server has ~oracle in
/export/home/oracle while the nonworking has a nearly
empty oracle home dir in /home/oracle. Could this be
the problem? If not, what else should I be looking
at? Do you need more info? If so, what and how do I
get it?
I find that last paragraph a bit confusing, but here's what you need to check...
1) From the environment that you are in when you try to execute sqlplus, ensure that the value of ORACLE_HOME is set correctly. For example, if sqllplus is located in '/app/product/oracle/10.2.0/db_1/bin', then ORACLE_HOME should be ''/app/product/oracle/10.2.0/db_1'
2) make sure that $ORACLE_HOME/bin is included in your PATH - after ORACLE_HOME is set as above.

Have you also restored / re-installed the oracle client libs on your windows system? It seems like the oracle client libs are missing.

Oracle XA library not available - Oracle 10g Release 2.0.1

Hi,
We have downloaded Oracle 10g Release 2.0.1 enterprise edition from oracle site and installed on Red hat Linux 4.0. After installation we found Oracle XA library is missing. Ideally it should be in folder $Oracle_Home/rdbms/xa/.
The entire XA folder is missing in rdbms folder. Since the XA library is missing, we are not able to complie some C++ code which uses XA interface to connect to Oracle DB. Any help on this will be highly appreciated.
Is this possible that XA library only comes with the license version??

There is no such thing in Oracle as a "licensed version." When you download you download the entire product.
But if you don't have a license then you really should contact your Oracle sales rep immediately. First for reasons of ethics but second to get a support contract which it looks like you are going to need to get patches for 10.2.0.4.
My vanilla installation contains it so you might want to try first checking the installation log file for any reference to it.

HT1844 Library Issue: I just imported 2 CD's into ITunes. They show up in "Recently Added" and on my other devices via ITunes Match, but NOT in the ITunes software on the computer where I added them.

They show up in the search box, but when I click on the results it just kicks me to ALL my music. I have imported thousands of songs/CD's before and this is a new one.

Something may have gone wrong with the index of the Music playlist. Making another change to the library such as downloading the current iTunes Free Single of the Week, or deleting one track from your library and reimporting it, should fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes folder, then start iTunes again. It should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to correct things.

I use Jdev 11.1.1.5 to create a BPM process application which contains a process with 3 interactive activities.
Each interacitive acitivity has a form project. I can deply these projects to a domain. Then, I delete them. However, after that, I cannot deploy them.
I try to create a new SOA domain. However, I get same error message as follow.

I think the reasoning behind this is: If we deploy it from the Application tab, it deploys the EAR file whereas simply right clicking the project and deploy, deploys the WAR file.

Using OCCI with Oracle XA Library

Is it possible to use OCCI with Oracle XA Library?
the XA function xaoSvcCtx() can returns the OCI service handle
for a given XA connection. but how to convert it to the OCCI
Connection class?

We are now building CORBA application with C++. some programs
manage transaction through Transaction service(a TM of X/OPEN
DTP architecture), these programs must use XA Library.
OCCI is a wonderful tool for C++ programer,with OCCI building
a persistent layer over ORACLE is very simple.
But if OCCI not work with XA we have no choice but PRO*C or
OCI ,which's actually C style tool and hard to use especially
in object mode.
So we hope OCCI can provide this feature in next release. and
I beleive This feature is necessary,It's very common using a
transaction monitor such as ORACLE Application Server .

Driver files in oracle jdbc library

Hi, as all of you know that a file, classes32.zip distributed with oracle client to support jdbc connectivity is so huge in physical size on disk. But, some of my colleague told me that there are just 2 or 3 classes that are actually used by java application to get connected and run all SQL commands against an oracle instance. Rest of the package is actually advance level support to other things like DB level access or some system querying support.
Can someone out there confirm it ?

Ok. now let me clear my problem. First of all, classes12.zip will be required in its full package form .. yes right ManjuTheGreat. Actually its a swing based application and it will be executed via JNLP (java webstart App). Its size is already around 3 to 4 mb in size, n really i am no more interested to increase my (.jar) file size by packaging oracle driver library with it. It will slow down the download process at client-side and nature of application is actually a bidding agent for forex houses as clients and other business entities. It will update the bids, quantity and other business related info to the remote oracle db. I think i have given enough information for this problem.

We are using Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) on (Platform : solaris[tm] oe (64-bit)), Sql Developer 3.0.04.
Our NLS_DATE_FORMAT = 'DD-MON-RR'
Using 'RR' in the format forces two-digit years less than or equal to 49 to be interpreted as years in the 21st century (2000–2049), and years 50 and over, as years in the 20th century (1950–1999). Setting the RR format as the default for all two-digit year entries allows you to become year-2000 compliant. For example:
We have a date '01-JUN-31' in our source system. It treat this date as 01-JUN-2031' instead of '01-JUN-1931'. One century forward.
Do we able to resolve using NLS_DATE_FORMAT change?
How do we resolve this issue?

Pl-Sql Oracle Function Concurrency Issue

Issue - pl-sql Oracle Function performance issue, when muliple users are accessing the function
Detail -
Oracle 11g / Linux Server
I have developed a pl-sql oracle function to retrieve information from 3 tables, output as a particluar type array.
Single request is getting processed within 2.2 seconds, but when multiple request are sent concurrently <tested with 50>, time taken for each output is different.
BreakUp of Response times:-
8 messages took - 2.2 sec
+8 messages took - 4.4 sec
++8 messages took - 6.6 sec....etc
I'm looking for any DB tunning parameter, which will help to resolve this issue.
My only aim is to expose developed function to multiple users, who all can access it concurrently, but response should limit within 2.2 seconds.
Any thoughts + guidance is higly appreciated.

Iphoto6 LIbrary Issue (Not finding photos)

Hello : couple of i photo6 issues
1) I have many photos on my mac book pro from my past powerbook (old libraries) When I launch Iphoto6, it only recognises the latest pics. How do I make iphoto recognise the older pics. They are in my pictures folder, however they are not coming up in iphoto as thumbnails. (I am thinking I may have to create a whole new library which I am happy to do (i.e. drag library folder to desk top, then ask Iphoto to create new library etc. using originals folder) If this is correct can someone please explain the process for doing so. If not, please advise what else I should do. I am not notally sure here..... all tips welcome.
2) Why is there a DATA file and an ORIGINALS file in the library file. Do i need both ?
3) I seem to have many duplicates some are thumbnail size pics from previous imports when I had library issues in 2004. Is there a simple way to get rid of these smaller pics so I only have the originals? Hope this all makes sense.
Baiscally I need a total 'clean up of my iphoto library(s) and streamline things I believe, but need some advise on doing so.

You mean DATA and ORIGINALS folders? Yes you do need
both. A Note about the iPhoto Library Folder:
In this folder there are various files, which are the
Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you
have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were
downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that
you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command
- very useful if you don't like the changes you've
made.

3) I seem to have many duplicates some are
thumbnail size pics from previous imports when I had

But if you decide to go back and start again, we can
weed those out from the new library while recreating
it.

Thanks TD Most Helpful. The photos are all in my pictures folder in the originals folder. I think I need to make a new library and go through and delete the duplicates. It seems i may be in a bit of a mess unfortunately.

Oracle JDBC Library

Hello all,
I have just installed the new jdev version 11.1.1.0.2 and I seem to be missing some libraries, in particular the Oracle JDBC library. I don't seem to be able to add it using "check for updates ...". I can be wrong but I believe that library was included in the previous version, any ideas?

Taking a look to the Oracle JDBC library definition, it states that the javadoc should be available at some directory but it is not. Any ideas what went wrong? I can access the javadoc online but it would be nice to do it from jdev, it safes time!

Free download of Oracle Kodo library

Hi All,
I'm newbie to JPA.
I'm developing on Weblogic Workshop 10.3.
I'm trying to add facets of JPA(1.0) and Oracle Kodo(4.1). I tried to add KODO library from Oracle site. (Selected Option, Use Oracle Kodo library from ORacle web site).
I get the following exception:
Failed while downloading Oracle Kodo library from Oracle site.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
I'm not able to see which URL workshop i strying to connect to.
Is there any free download of KODO library. I had tried to download in the past and I was able to download it successfully.
Any ideas?

Hi, if you are new to JPA - I suggest, if I may, to try the JPA 2.0 RI - EclipseLink.
EclipseLink is included with WebLogic 10.3.x - check the modules directory in your server

OracleAgent failed to initialize oracle NLS library

when OS starts it generates error that oracle intelligent agent has generated some error, when i followed the error in event viewer the error was
'OracleAgent failed to initialize oracle NLS library'
However database is not running and whenever i try to login it says shutdown or initialization in progress..
any suggestion??

Did you find a solution to this problem? I am having the same exact problem. My old computer had Windows XP and my new computer has Windows Vista, now I get that error message saying Failed to intialize PalmOneRemoteLibrary. Any help would be great! Thanks!

MSSQL 2005 to Oracle Database Conversion Issue

We have a requirement where we need to fetch data from MSSQL2005 and store it in Oracle DataBase.
Could you all please let me know which KM module i need to import to achieve it.

There are a number of options. You should select based on the volume of data and platform, and flexibility of your architecture etc
- At the simplest level, you could use the LKM SQL to Oracle, which will issue a SELECT on the source and do INSERTS on the target (using prepared statements etc, so not horrendous)
- You could use the a bulk loading methodology - by using SQLUNLOAD (or bcp) and then load into Oracle using External Tables or SQLLOADER, which will probably be the fastest solution. (I created a KM which generates all the right code to load the data that way, but without a staging area, you can find it here
If you want a staging area table etc, then you could modify the code in that KM to be an LKM rather than an IKM.
