Oracle ADF Cache issue

Hi,
I've got a question about the Entity/View Object caches.
I wrote a web service in the ADF.
I implemented a simple custom method called "fun" in the AppModuleImpl.java.
The implementation is as follows:
public int fun() {
return getOdczytVO1().getRowCount();
where OdczytVO is a View Object based on an Entity Object called OdczytEO.
While executing this method via web service I noticed that server executes View Object's query all the time.
The method returns a valid number of rows, so the Entity Objects were cached.
When I executed this metod again, server executed the View Object's query again.
So my question is: does the ADF cache the Entity/View Objects and if so why it doesn't use them in this case.
Is there any online information about how the ADF caches works and how to use them?
Best regards & thanks

can you try to use getEstimatedRowCount() instead of getRowCount().

  • ADF application integrating with Oracle Web Cache

    Hello,
    I am trying to integrated my ADF 11g application with Oracle Web Cache. I used this link http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2010/06/oracle-webtier-11g-configuration-for.html for it.
    I am able to access my ADF application using webcache port 7785.
    I created few caching rules in the Oracle Web Cache. And in the popular request section of the Oracle Web cache i see jpg,png and other image files cached.
    But the issue is when the application access images like /testapp/test/images/abc.jpg?_adf.ctrl-state=5b0s7lzfo_29 . I created a caching rule with regular expression ^/testapp/test/images/[A-Za-z0-9_]*\.(gif|jpeg|png|jpg)\?_adf\.ctrl-state=[A-Za-z0-9_]*$.
    But when i access the popular request in em i don't see the URL given above as cached. The caching reason it specifies as URL contains query string.
    I am not sure if i need to do anything additional to cache these URL's as well.
    Thanks!
    Ram

    Yes that works. But my question is how to cache the urls which has querystring. I was trying to give a regular expression to match the url so that the url which contains parameters like _afrLoop which changes with each HTTP request can also be cached.

  • Oracle ADF task flow setup failing- deployment issue

    Hi Experts,
    We are facing issue while deploying the ADF taskflow to Oracle webcenter portal/application server.
    We will need your help to get any pointers from your Oracle network to help resolve.
    Details of issue are as below.
    Please help ASAP.
    Problem Statement: Issue in the ADF taskflow while it is deployed on Oracle Webcenter Portal/Application server (the ADF taskflow is fetching data from PL/SQL procedure using table/record objects as OUT parameter, which is running fine in Jdeveloper).
    Problem Description:
    From ADF task flow we are invoking a PL/SQL procedure, which is returning a PL/SQL objects as an OUT parameter, some of these objects are of TABLE TYPE and one of RECORD TYPE. We are invoking this oracle procedure and fetching the object using jdbc. The object to which we are mapping this PL/SQL object is a custom java type object. We are using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and Oracle ADF for this and we are able to successfully fetch the object using the code snippet #1 attached below.
    However, when we deploying the same code, i.e. the above ADF task flow in the Webcenter Portal server 11.1.1.4, inside the Webcenter portal application, it doesn’t work and give the below error, error snippet #2 below.
    Options tried: Initially we were using oracle.sql.STRUCT to handle the PL/SQL object, we tried changing this to weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Struct and also java.sql.Struct, however we are still getting same error.
    The objective is to get the data from PL/SQL procedure in objects (record, table) as OUT parameters in ADF taskflow deployed on Oracle webcenter portal/application server.

    Maybe this can help you: http://mike.hostetlerhome.com/2007/02/12/weblogic-oracle-and-blobs-oh-my/
    It shows how to obtain a vendor object from the weblogic wrapped instance.
    From the blog
    weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Blob cast1 = (weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Blob) o;
    BLOB myblob = (BLOB) cast1.getVendorObj();

  • Oracle ADF - Commit operation issue.

    Hi,
    I am new to Oracle ADF. I am using Oracle jDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0
    and facing problem when I try to save a new record from within application.
    I have called a action on commit button and used auto generated code, here is the it -
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("Commit");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return null;
    I read that after execute statement framework calls doDML(int operation, TransactionEvent e) method in EOImpl and there we do insert/update/delete...etc,
    But when I debug my application it doesn't. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Unable to understand what exactly the problem is?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Madhav.

    Hi,
    Yes, I do have a break point in doDML() of EOImpl.java
    Also I have another break point in bean before it calls the EOImpl's doDML().
    I'll show you the action method in bean which get's call on click of commit button in .jspx,
        public String commitAction() {
            BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
            OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("Commit");
            Object result = operationBinding.execute();
            if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
                return null;
            return null;
        }In this method I put a break point at
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();from here control doesn't go to EOImpl class.
    Here is the .jspx code for commit button,
    <af:commandButton   text="Commit"
                                    disabled="#{!bindings.Commit.enabled}"
                                    id="cb1"
                                    action="#{CustomerProfileBean.commitAction}"/>Can I use both action and actionListener properties for same command button?
    Is this technically correct?
    Thanks,
    Madhav.

  • JsCookMenu - Problem with display of Menu (Oracle ADF)

    I am using Oracle ADF with JSF components. The jsCookMenu displays the menu along with "x" representing images on the right and left side of the menu label. Please suggest me how to remove this icon from the menu display. Please find the code below.

    I am getting this problem with IE when the application starts. When I do ctrl+refresh, this issue doesnot occur. Also, with Firefox I am not getting any problem. I need to know how to fix this issue with IE when the application starts. Any suggestions on this would be of great help.

    User, please always tell us your jdev version.
    The interesting part is what you did not tell us.
    Kindly let me know as to why Iam not to replicate the issue in my earlier WLS.Please find my code means hte code has once run OK and now after you did some changes doesn't any longer. Querstion: what did you change, not oly to the code but to the environment.

  • Sql query cache issue

    I am trying to see the log file in Manage sessions for the sql query in Answers. I see that if we run the same report multiple times, the sql query is showing up only the first time. Second time if I run it is not showing up. If I do a brand new report with diff columns picked it is giving me the sql then. Where do I set this option to show the sql query everytime I run a report even if it is the same report run multiple times. Is this caching issue?

    It shouldn't.... Have you unchecked the "Cache" on the physical layer for this table? If you go onto the Advanced tab, is the option "Bypass the Oracle BI cache" checked?

  • Oracle-ADF inlineFrame initializing view scoped bean twice

    I am facing strange issue related with af:inlineFrame component. Trying to display/render ADF page inside of af:popup within af:inlineFrame component. The weird thing is when the popup displayed; view scoped bean's @PostConstruct method called twice. That means bean is initialized twice. However it needed to be initialized once since bean is referenced from the page that is going to be displayed inside af:inlineFrame.
    Correct flow gotta be:
    Click to button openPopup() method called.
    openPopup() sets URI then opens popup.
    inlineFrame source property set as it's going to display framePage.jspx.
    JSF scans framePage.jspx code finds out there is a reference to FrameBean inside af:outputLabel
    Construct FrameBean then call @PostConstruct method.
    Call appropriate getter and render page.
    What happens in my case:
    Click to button openPopup() method called.
    openPopup() sets URI opens popup.
    inlineFrame source property set as it's going to display framePage.jspx.
    JSF scans framePage.jspx code finds out there is a reference to FrameBean inside af:outputLabel
    Construct FrameBean then call @PostConstruct method.
    Call appropriate getter and render page.
    Construct FrameBean then call @PostConstruct method.
    Call appropriate getter and render page.
    Popup located like:
    <af:popup id="mainPopup" binding="#{mainBean.mainPopup}">
    <af:dialog id="mainDialog">
      <af:inlineFrame source="#{mainBean.URI}"> </af:inlineFrame>
      </af:dialog>
    </af:popup>
    Showing popup via af:button action="#{mainBean.openPopup}":
    public void openPopup() {
    this.setURI("http://localhost:7001/app/framePage.jspx");
      RichPopup.PopupHints hints = new RichPopup.PopupHints();
    this.getMainPopup().show(hints);
    framePage.jspx:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" /> <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" />
    <f:view>
    <af:document title="Frame Demo" id="demoDocument">
      <af:form id="demoForm">
    <af:outputLabel value="#{frameBean.commonId}">   </af:outputLabel>
      </af:form>
      </af:document>
    </f:view>
    </jsp:root>
    FrameBean:
    @ManagedBean
    @ViewScoped
    public class FrameBean {
    private String commonId;
      @PostConstruct
      public void afterInit() {  }
      public String getCommonId() {
    return commonId;
    public void setCommonId(String commonId) {
    this.commonId = commonId;
    Making FrameBean @SessionScoped solves this issue since bean is kept with session but I don't want to keep it within session. Also setting source property of af:inlineFrame in jspx as hardcoded not fixing the problem.

    im using ADF Essential on Glassfish 3.1 with no problem, but glassfish is heavyweight. I think Oracle ADF is not dependent to Application Server , then i tried to use my project with Tomcat 7. I deployed my application on Tomcat 7 , but im getting some exceptions.
    Not all application servers support Oracle ADF.
    Refer the certification matrix, Tomcat 7 is not listed as being supported.

  • How to reduce Oracle ADF Mobile deployed file

    Hi
    I'm creating simple demos with Oracle ADF Mobile and the deployed file is more than 50mb. Is there a way to reduce this size? Maybe remove some unused features llike SQLLite?

    My simple demo IPA files have been around 20MB with the default splashscreens and such, the only time it was bigger was when some files mistakenly got included. You could always load resources on-demand the first time over http and cache them in the app documents. This way you could only download the graphics for the current platform (so if it's a phone, you don't download iPad banners and graphics that your app needs)

  • Oracle ADF/BC4J vs "other" Java/J2ee technologies. Influence a decision

    Dear All,
    Our dev group is now at the stage when we need to make a decision which way to go - "proprietary" Oracle ADF/BC4J route or open source/java/j2ee standard. In our group we have a mix of Oracle Foms, pl/sql and java developers. The problem is that our core java developers are strictly against any proprietary thing, and they do not really want to even take a look at ADF/BC4J claiming that when it comes to resolving performance and other issues we will be better off with open source, rather than depend on Oracle...
    I am coming from an Oracle centric world, and to me ADF is a natural choice, however I do not have a lot of experience in Java/J2EE to post a strong argument for or against ADF and BC4J.
    I am just wondering if there is a case study, or comprehensive cons and pros for one or the other path.
    I will greatly appreciate anyone's answer.
    Thank you,
    VO

    "When it comes resolving performance and other issues we will be better off with open source."Really? How - are they planning to go into the hibernate/spring engine and fix the problems? Or do they have a specific "support" contract with some company that will guarantee them fixes to these issues? If they do have such a contract how much does this support costs the organization?
    Where is the notion that open-source is faster coming from? Certainly not from actual benchmarks like this one: http://www.spec.org/jAppServer2004/results/
    As Frank said your management might want to look into a more complete picture than what your Java developers are looking at.
    For example, given that you have Forms based developers, how fast can they get up to speed with the open source solution vs the ADF solution?
    I think a simple benchmark of productivity when building an application with the stack they are offering vs the ADF stack would prove the point even better.
    Don't have time to run one have a look at the RAD Race results from this year where ADF based team beat up Spring based teams.

  • Oracle.adf.view.rich.newWindowDetect.OPTIONS ADF_FACES-30163

    Hi, all!
    I have turned flag oracle.adf.view.rich.newWindowDetect.OPTIONS to ON in web.xml
    +<context-param>+
    +<param-name>oracle.adf.view.rich.newWindowDetect.OPTIONS</param-name>+
    +<param-value>on</param-value>+
    +</context-param>+
    but when I look into the log (after starting server) :
    +<Warning> <oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.rich.RegistrationFilter> <ADF_FACES-30163> <The application is running with the new window detect flag off. It is highly recommended that this flag be turned on to ensure proper functioning of your application when new browser windows are launched. In web.xml set the context parameter oracle.adf.view.rich.newWindowDetect.OPTIONS to 'on'.>>+
    Why this situation is possible? Why weblogic doesn't see this param is web.xml?

    in sample application the issue is not reproducible .Therefore ,try to delete the web.xml file and clean all the application and again create one more web.xml file and copy the contents of earlier web.xml.
    Hope it will work as expected manner.

    Hoque

  • Oracle ADF & Jdeveloper.

    Any one have an idea that which institute other than oracle school, give training for Oracle ADF & Jdeveloper in Dubai, United ARab Emirates.
    I am using Forms10g and would like to upgrade to Jdeveloper.I have no experience in Java.

    I've also written a book, and given I come from a Forms background, it should address many of the issues those coming from a Forms background hit when learning ADF. The book itself is aimed at getting developers up to speed as quickly as possible,
    Quick Start Guide to Fusion Development: JDeveloper and Oracle ADF is now published. See http://www.mhprofessional.com/product.php?isbn=0071744282
    See also http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/formsdesignerj2ee-092778.html which is a page specifically for Forms developers who are picking up JDeveloper and Oracle ADF.

  • Oracle ADF security integration with Oracle E-Business Suite SDK JAAS

    I have an Oracle ADF 11.1.2.2 application that is using ADF security for authentication and authorization.
    When we deploy this application to our JDeveloper integrated weblogic server, we utilize the security setting of "Custom" and use weblogic users and roles to map to the ADF application roles. In that environment our security is working properly.
    I have a Weblogic 10.3.5 standalone server that has the ADF runtime installed as well as the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK JAAS implementation installed.
    When I deploy the Oracle ADF application to the standalone weblogic server, I am directed to the JAAS login page when I attempt to access any JSF page (including those that I have granted View access through the anonymous-role. Does the Oracle ADF anonymous-role work (allow for anonymous page access) when JAAS security is handled by the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK JAAS implementation?
    Per the SDK instructions, when we install the Oracle ADF deployment on Weblogic we have selected "DD only" for our security setting. We have defined enterprise roles in the Oracle ADF security setup (jazn-data.xml) that are assigned the appropriate application roles. Those enterprise roles have the same name (i.e. UMX|YOURROLE) as the E-Business Suite roles that are assigned to our test users. When we login with an E-Business Suite user / password we are receiving an error:
    Error 401--Unauthorized
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.2 401 Unauthorized
    Any thoughts on why that would be?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thanks Juan.
    With the debugging options enabled it appears the issue is not an issue with the user / role credentials - it seems like the resource grants from jazn-data.xml are not being reviewed in my standalone weblogic instance EAR deployment:
