  • Oracle ADF Form Data was Not adding to DB.

    I have Created a Query Based VO(I have given Updatable:Always and i ahve checked in source that IsUpdateable="true"),and added that to AM,I Have created a ADF Form with CreateInsert Operation,When Click on CreateInsert Button It was creating an empty form,
    After Entering the Date into that empty field, when i click on Commit button Data is Not Saving into DB.
    After that,
    I have Creted a Readonly Table With Same Iterator,When i click on "Commit" it was sowing that data is adding to the New Row in that Readonly Table,But when i was checking in DB ,The Data was not adding to DB
    i am useing 11.1.2.3.0 version jdeveloper.
    Any Help is appreciable.....

    You are conceptually wrong. A query-based VO does not insert/update/delete any data to DB. You must create an entity-based VO if you want to insert/update/delete data to DB.
    When you issue a commit operation on an AM, it looks for created/modified/removed Entity objects and then performs the corresponding DML operations on DB. (In fact, DML operations are performed by Entity objects. If there are no Entity objects, then there are no DML operations). If your VO is not entity-based (but query-based), then you do not have any created/modified/removed ADF entities, so there is noting to flush to DB.
    The "Updateable" property of the VO attributes controls whether the VO should allow data entry/modification of these attributes in memory. You can have non-entity based attributes that are marked as "updateable" (for example, transient attributes storing temporary values in memory) but it does not mean that these attributes are going to be flushed to DB.
    You have seen data in the read-only table, because it is based on the same VO and it displays the newly-created row which is in memory.

  • How to make few records editable in oracle ADF form.

    Hi,
    I am working on one scenario. here, we are sending few records to user in an ADF task form, using BPEL Human task. Now, the requirement is to put a checkbox in each row and enable that particular row-fields for editing purpose.
    please respond if there is a way to put any condition in check box design to enable row-data for editing.
    thanks,
    rps

    Hi,
    actually to implement check boxes in front of a table you need some sort of transient field that can keep persistence. One way of achieving this is to wrap the BPEL service in a WS proxy client and create a POJO DC from it. This then allows you to add an additional field to implement a solution similar to this in ADF BC
    http://sameh-nassar.blogspot.com/2009/12/use-checkbox-for-selecting-multiple.html
    Because ADF Faces tables are stamped upon rendering, rows arent created with instances of the cell renderer. For this reason you need to keep track of the select state in the model, which you can do using a transient attribute, which then makes sure the select information is part of the row object. So similar as today, you would parse the available rows but - before changing the update state - check if the user intended the update

  • Oracle ADF Find and Execute in form

    Hi,
    I have followed the blog for creating a form which allows for searching. I am executing the Find operation on the viewiterator to enter into query mode at the time of launching the form (in pagephaselistener calling managed bean method and the method executes the OperationBinding.execute to execute the find operation). The view does not have any bind variables, It is a simple view on the table with out any mandatory fields. Then I executed "execute" operation using OperationBinding based on an event in the page by entering the query criteria on the page for a textfield. This is working fine and it is returning the matching records for the query criteria. So far it is good.
    http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/09/jdeveloper-11g-crud-in-adf-form.html
    But the problem is when there are mandatory fields. My expectation is to execute the query based on the event in the UI even the mandatory fields are not filled. Let us say If the view object is having 4 mandatory columns and the user enters only 1 column it should perform the query and populate the fields. Could you please sugggest.
    The behavior should be some thing similar to Oracle forms enter query and execute query modes for the same form fields.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Oracle Forms equivalent operations in Oracle ADF

    I need to know whether there are equivalent operations in ADF corresponding to these operations in Oracle Forms
    System.Current_block
    System.Current_record
    System.Current_form
    etc...

    As a mechanism to working out how ADF works, a suggested read is the Fusion Dev Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16162_01/web.1112/e16182/toc.htm
    Once you've done this, as extension the dev guide has appendixes "F - ADF Equivalents of Common Oracle Forms Triggers" & "G Performing Common Oracle Forms Tasks in Oracle ADF" for assisting Forms programmers in moving to ADF, a feature/mind map as you will.
    However as Vinod says, don't make the mistake of thinking ADF is similar to Forms in its implementation. While Forms and ADF attempt to achieve similar results (ie. applications querying data from a db and showing to the user to view or edit), they do it in totally different technologies.

  • Insert new row into oracle databse through application module usng ADF Form

    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2. I am a beginner. I had tried in-built createInsert and commit method to add new row into oracle DB. For that, I had created ViewObject, VOImpl and AMImpl. Then, I created to jsf page. On first page, I dragged and dropped createInsert fn and VO(as ADF-readonly table) from DC Palette. and on second page, I dragged and dropped my VO(as ADF-Form) and commit (as Button) from DC palette. I created task-flow for it. when i click on createInsert button, i redirected to second page. where i filled all the required information on form. After filling, when i clicked commit button, i redirected to first page.(coz i created task flow to return first page after commit). New row is inserted into ADF-table, but when i checked my oracle DB, there was nothing added.
    Thus, I want to use custom method to insert row into OracleDB. So how can i get this? what are the steps required to do this? what programming codes required in Bean.java and AMImpl.java. Or is there any other steps to do this?
    please provide me detail steps and programming code for bean, amimpl or for VOImpl or EOImpl.
    please help me.

    User,
    To insert a row into the db you have to use a VO which is based on an EO (entity object). There is no java class (or impl) needed. You can all do this decoratively.
    All you have to think of is the PK of the new row. You can use Groovy for that (http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/using-groovy-expression-to-set-a-primary-key-with-a-sequence-number/)
    The rest is like you described it yourself. Drag the Vo onto the page, drop it as read only table, drag the createInsert onto the page as button and set up the navigation. On the second page drag the same VO onto the page and drop it as ADF Form. drag the commit operation onto the page as button and setup the navigation back to the first page.

  • Developering ADF form in query mode (Oracle forms simulation)

    Hi,
    we have a requirement for developing the existing Oracle form using Oracle ADF. The existing Oracle form displays the form in query mode by default. We can enter the search criteria in any of the text fields and then execute query to get the results. If the user does not enter any search criteria, then the form loads specific record based on default criteria into the form. Could you please help developing similar form using ADF.
    At present I created the view object with one bind variable and dragged the view as ADF form to the jspx page. Then I am launching the form in query mode (executing the find method on the view object using operation binding at the time of loading the page). After entering the query criteria in the form, If I click on a button I am executing a method in the managed bean. In the managed bean I am executing the "Execute" operation on the view and it is working fine.
    But my problem is if the user does not enter the search criteria I have to pass default parameters to the view object and return the default record in the form.
    Can you please help in resolving the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for providing information. I created the query panel with the table by dragging all the named criteria. But this is not the look we are expecting for this form. As we have to deveop ADF form with the same behavior as oracle forms, the user must be in a position to edit the data in the same field as that of query field.
    As an example, we have to design a form for Dept table. We have to display all the columns of the dept view in the form at the time of launching the form in query mode. Once the user enters any search criteria in the form, we have to perform search and display the record(s) matching the query criteria in the same columns displayed in the form. User should not see any changes in the form layout.
    If the user does not enter any data in the form, then we have to display the record(s) in the form with the specific department id(This department id can be calculated based on the data in another table).
    Can you please help us in resolving the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • How to Create a ADF Form same like in Oracle Forms

    Hi,
    I need to create a Form in ADF where in on the top I have two text fields with LOV and one Text with out LOV and a button. Selecting values from the first two should populate the value of thid text
    and pressing the button should actually populate the fields below.
    Below I have several other fileds of which few are queried from the database and other are calculated fields (aka like control fields in Oracle Forms).
    Now I am a Forms Developer and know quite a few things in ADF as well, like creating Master Details Forms and some of the work flows. Some basic functionaliy.
    I want to make an attempt to create something like this which is created in Oracle Forms.
    What I have tried as of now is create a query and added LOV to first Text. Displayed all the fields as ADF form and on top I have put a ADF Query panel , using this I am able to populate few of the columns.
    Can someone tell me what is the best way to do the things which I have mentioned.
    TIA

    Hi,
    If your need is to auto populate other employee fields of the page based on previous 2/3 fields like deptno, empno, loc, then you can achieve this with button action listener. You can add runtime bind variables to your view object and set them with user input values and execute query.
    for e.g, you can add below code in your AMImpl class and expose it to UI and invoke it from UI (from page, create a managed bean and call AM method)
    /***** Sample code only*****/
    public void refreshVO(Integer EmployeeNo, Integer DeptNo, Integer locNo)
    ViewObject vo = this.getEmployeeVO();
    vo.setWhereClause(null);
    vo.setWhereClauseParams(null);
    //Adding empNO where clause
    vo.setWhereClause("employeeno = :empNum);
    vo.defineNamedWhereClauseParam("empNum", null, null);
    vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("empNum", EmployeeNo);
    // similarly add logic for DeptNo, LocNo and you can additional check if they are null or not null
    vo.executeQuery();

  • Why did not Oracle change it's 10g forms to Adf forms ?

    hi all ,
    i am wondering , why oracle did not replace it's 10g forms to Adf forms , especially while i am hearing from everywhere that the Adf technology is a powerful technology ?
    and the development process will be with Adf tech in the near future ?
    thanks in advance

    Hi Semsem;
    i am wondering , why oracle did not replace it's 10g forms to Adf forms , especially while i am hearing from everywhere that the Adf technology is a powerful technology ? You should ask it to Steven Chan or oracle support.EBS has many compenetes which mean maybe ADF forms can not work wiht other components or maybe Oracle already made schedule to use ADF instead of 10g forms.
    As i said ask it to oracle not us :)
