Oracle Discoverer Plus - Don't run query automatically

I have, in the Options tab in Oracle Discoverer Plus, a check mark next to not run a query automatically. This is not working when I have several worksheets in my report. After I run one worksheet and click on the next (tab) worksheet it automatically runs that report with the old parameter values thereby providing ambiguous results.

Hi,
Try editing the parameter and selecting "Allow a different value in each sheet".

  • ESSO and Oracle Discoverer Plus

    Hi,
I'm configuring eSSO-LM (ver. 10.1.4.0.3, comes with eSSO 10.1.405) to work with Oracle Discoverer Plus, but haven't got too far. ODP is a Web application that raises a new browser window, which in turn raises another window for login. The windows don't show the URLs they point to, I can't create a new browser window from them, and right clicking has no effect. Any hints?
    Thanks,
    Juan

    Hi Tamir,
Many thanks for the guidance. They have hundreds of reports so I have asked them to send me a few however, it feel awkward to ask for all. I have Discoverer9i and they are on Discoverer10g. Do you think this may be an issue ?

  • Customizing Oracle Discoverer Plus

    Hi,
Our team is trying to figure out the best way to integrate our custom built Web app with the Oracle Discoverer Plus applet. The only thing that seems to be customisable in Discoverer is the banner image. I’ve read that Discoverer Viewer can be customized a bit more by hacking the IUX files. Unfortunately, our application must work with the applet (Discoverer Plus).
We looked into using the v$sql view to track down the query that Discoverer is using. This approach would be risky since there’s no guarantee that Discoverer's query will still be the shared pool when our application is called.
Since we’ve been unable to integrate our application with Discoverer (i.e., add a new button to the Discoverer applet), we’re using the Discoverer html and xml export. By parsing these two files, we can mirror data as well as the query used to generate the data in our application.
I was wondering if we had overlooked anything (e.g., undocumented api).
    Thanks for your help
    Danny

Are the users truly creating new workbooks each time, or are they just doing different selection values? I use the Parameters feature of Discoverer to let users do their data selection, which handles much of their ad hoc analysis needs. But if the users are truly coming up with new workbooks every time, then yep, they are going to want to use Discoverer Plus. Maybe you need to look at moving beyond Discoverer to OBIEE, or some other data warehouse/business intelligence solution, as a better long term solution for your users? Just something to think about.

  • Oracle Discoverer Plus Performance

When trying to connect to the Discoverer on the Web, we need to wait a very long time(about 5-10 minutes!)
for each web page to be displayed ( those are the simple trivial pages of userid, query list, parameter window for running a query, etc…).
When we eventually get to run the query it runs very fast, so the problem is not the performance of the database.
It seems like the access to the web pages on the server or something to do with the JAVA is not working properly.
We tried to address the link for the discoverer plus with the server name and also with its IP address but the result was the same.
We tried a higher version of Java and it was no good.
The station from which we are running it, is a very strong one so it is not a problem of shortage in memory etc..
Do you have any idea how to deal with this problem?

    Hi Hadar,
In general, I would recommend making sure the JRE being used is compliant (see these Knowledge Base articles):

  • Where can I find Oracle Discoverer Plus Download?

<email address removed by moderator so that you won't get spammed for all Eternity>
    can someone guide me please?
    thanks
    Fernand

    Hello
You need to install the 11.1.1.2 base software and then apply patch 11.1.1.6.
The base software is available from Oracle e delivery by starting here: https://edelivery.oracle.com
You need to log in with your OTN login and password and accept the license terms.
Once logged in, on the search form enter Oracle Fusion Middleware in the Select a Product Pack box then select your platform below.
With both filled in click the Go button
On the next page scroll down till you find the entry called Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for 11.1.1.6.0 - click the link
On the next page scroll down till you find the downloads for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) - there will probably be several files to download
The patch is also available from e delivery on the same page as the 11.1.1.2 and is usually located one entry down below the other others. Unlike 11.1.1.2 which comes in multiple files the patch for 11.1.1.6 is nearly always a single large file between 1.5 and 2.0 GB in size
Note: when you install 11.1.1.2 you do a software only install. When you apply the patch you just install it using setup. When both are done you need to run the config.bat (or config.sh) file from within the Middleware bin folder.
Note 2: you must also have downloaded and installed weblogic 10.3.6 and created a repository for Discoverer using RCU 11.1.1.6
Your full list of software therefore is:
    1. Java JDK
    2. Equivalent JAVA client
    3. RCU 11.1.1.6
    4. Install Weblogic
    5. Install Discoverer 11.1.1.2 software only
    6. Install Discoverer 11.1.1.6 patch
    7. Configure Discoverer using config.bat or config.sh
    Hope this helps
    Michael
PS. I will be covering installing the software in my upcoming Oracle Discoverer 11g Handbook which is scheduled for release early 2013

  • Oracle discoverer 9i can not running at windows 2003 server

    Hi, Please help me.
When I upgrade from windows 2000 advance server to windows 2003 server the oracle discoverer 9i can not be open. When I open it there is a error "Failed to open document"
How to make it run smoothly at windows 2003 server?
    Thank You

    Hi,
This is a bug in your version of Discoverer. There is a patch to make it work with windows 2003 or you can upgrade your Discoverer to a later version. The patch should be available from Oracle support. I don't know of anyway to make your version work with 2003.

  • Impossible to export more the 1000000 rows With ORACLE DISCOVERER plus

I work with Oracle discorcerer Plus but I'm able to exporte less than 1000000 rows.
more than 1000000 rows he does trunc the result!
I went to the Option as follows:
P.S un-ticked the Tools > Options > Query Governor > Limit retrived data to' field to get all the rows
but it still limits to 999999 records!
Is there any setting to control the number of rows exported ?
    Your Help

    Hi
The maximum number of rows of data allowed in a query is controlled in three places:
    1. In Plus, using Tools | Options | Query Governor
    2. In the Admin tool, using Tools | Privileges | Query Governor
    3. In the pref.txt file there is a setting called RowFetchLimit
As an end user you won't have teh ability to override what the administrator has set for you so please check to see whether any restrictions are in place that are outside your control.
    Best wishes

  • Oracle discoverer Plus

    Hi,
We have installed Oracle business intelligence 10.1.2.0.2 but when we try to launch discoverer plus using URL http://localhost:80/discoverer/plus we get error "The Page cannot be displayed".
We have also installed the discoverer catalog.
    regards
    Vishal Dutt

    Hi
If you call http://myindwsggn02204:7778 on its own the correct response from the system shuld be to display a generic Oracle Business Intelligence page that describe, in simple terms, the various componets. It should also have links for Discoverer Plus and Viewer as well as the OEM.
So, let's get down to basics. Do you at least see this?
    Best wishes

  • Menu "Export" in Oracle Discoverer Plus 10g

    Hi..
Is there anyone knows how to hide "Export" menu in OracleBI Discoverer Plus 10g ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Handoko

I have a T420 Lenovo with dual video card configuration is causing the Discoverer Plus 10g views to not refresh correctly.
I was able to find a solution to this issue. It requires the following changes in the system BIOS.
    •     In BIOS under Config -> Display ->Change the Graphics Devices to Discrete
    •     In BIOS under Config -> Display ->OS Detection for NVIDIA Optimus -> Changed to Disabled
Now system will only use the Nvidia Card versus the dual card configuration (Nvidia + Intel HD Graphics)
    Discoverer Plus works correctly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle Discoverer Plus - sub query

    Hi,
Quick question do you know if the sub query is available in Disco Plus yet?
If so which version and/or what configuration is required.
I know you can still do this in the desktop and then run it in plus but this means users can't do it.
    Regards,
    Paul.

Thanks for this I know it can't be done in the current version. I was hoping that it was something being addressed.
Its a pain to be able to do it in the desktop client and not the web version.
Its a work around when links are not present to the folders.
    Cheers,
    Paul

  • Discoverer plus running totals

    hi,
    any help will be appreciated.
I use Oracle discoverer plus. recently I tried to build a running total (average) calculation using the template provided. I defined 10 previous observations for this purpose. discoverer performed the calculation but the problem is with the first 9 (in this case) observations of the new calculation, because it averaged the first first observation, than the first two, than the first three and so on. when you get to the tenth observation it becomes correct, but you can imagine it is problematic, especially the graphic presentation. if I could present the graph only from the tenth observation and on it would be an acceptable compromise. any other suggestions are welcome too.
    Thanks.
    Mark.

    Hi,
I am afraid it is not at all clear what you are trying to do here. If you think of your results as a table of data do you want your calculation to be the same for all rows, a group of rows, or a running calculation changing for each row. Any graphical representation must be based on this underlying data.

  • Discoverer Plus - How to include variable text in the Title

    Hi,
I need to include a variable text in the report like the user information or another information i woul like to obtain from a query that is not the standars date,time,... oracle discoverer plus improves us.
I tried with calculations associates to a parameters, but is not possible.
    I hope i explained correctly.
    Thanks,

This can be done by creating a parameter, then a calculation, then a condition. Then under "Edit Header" or Page Setup, choose "Header" or "Footer"as needed and choose to insert the Parameter.
    Step by step Example instruction:
    1-Create a parameter as follows:
    --Item = NONE
--Name = "Workbook run by" (This will appear in the heading or title when workbook run)
--Prompt = "Please enter UserID in all capital letters"
--Description and Default value left blank
    2-Create a Calculation
--In New Calculation choose "Function" then choose the function "USER" from Database. (This is all that the calculation will need.)
    --Name Calculation  = i.e.: "DB_USERID"
    3-Create a condition as follows:
    --Name = Request_UserID
    --Item = DB_USERID
    Condition = IN
Value = Choose parameter: Workbook run by
-Double click on worksheet title, choose Insert, then choose Parameter (This can be done the same way under Page Setup for Header and Footer
-The calculation will create an extra column which I put at the top as a Page Item
-This will force the user to enter the UserID they are logged in to Discoverer with.
-This is case sensative. Therefore, since all Databe IDs are stored on the Database in all-caps, then the user will have to enter in all caps as well.
    Thanks,

Did you mean to say 11.1.1.2 and not 11.1.2?
11.1.2 works fine on Windows 7 (64 bit).
11.1.1.2 does not support windows 7 (64 bit). 11.1.1.3.01 was released a fews weeks back that supports windows 7 (64 bit).Hi Toufic,
    Yup, i mean hyperion 11.1.2..
Now, the smartview has been successfully installed in my system. First, i tried to uninstall the my smartview and delete all registry that point to my smartview. and then i tried to re-install the smartview version 11.1.2, and now, it's work.
    Thanks Toufic..
