Oracle Discoverer - Unable to Login

I was able to download and install the Oracle Discoverer 4.1.3 sucessfully. But at the time of logging in i'm unable to connect the database as i do not have the user-id password and the connect string. I would appreciate if you can help me out in doing the same and also plz send me some steps to log in and get connected to the database and how to start working on Oracle Discoverer
Thanks

Hi,
You can try putting double quotes round the username, e.g. "DISC USER" but I think this may be a bug in Discoverer Plus/Viewer 10g. You would have to check with support.

  • Oracle Customer Unable to Login to OTN

    Hi,
I am an Oracle Support Operator writing this for a customer who is unable to get into OTN.
The password error not valid is what she is getting. So she requests password confirmation and it comes back with the same password, she has been using. Also it lists her username as the email address. Mary is unable to log in using her correct email address (username) and password as OTN has verified.
    Can you please assist.

    Hello,
We have not had a response back Mary's issue. I am a Oracle Support Engineer opening this forum on Mary's behalf who is an Oracle customer with valid support.
Any response to this issue will be greatly appreciated.

  • OL5.7 & Oracle 11gR2 - unable to login at terminal

I was installing oracle 11gR2 which requires me to log in as "root" to run some scripts. Well I opened a terminal windows and
typed "login" at the prompt, then the system asked for the username and I typed "root" (without quotes of course) then I typed the
requested password but the system replies with "Login incorrect" message.
I'm sure I'm typing the correct username and password.
However, say that I'm logged as "oracle" and try to run the user/groups administraton program under the system menu, the system
will ask for my "root" password and it will accept it with no problems.
What I did was to log out "oracle" , log in as root, ran the scripts, then log in as "oracle" again, rerun the oracle installation, and now it says
it cannot continue installation because there is already an installation in the same direcrtory and asks me to choose a different location.
I will have then to delete all files under the /u01/app/oracle or uninstall the software completely with some oracle utility, I don't know.
Anyway I first have to solve the problem of the system not accepting my login as root in the terminal window, what am I doing wrong ??

    My comments:
    1) su does not standard for "super user". Su stands for switch user, substitute user, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Su_(Unix)
I agree, sudo is a better way to go than su. sudo is more secure and allows the OS administrator to grant the minimal privileges required. As well, knowing the root password is not required. Configuring sudo can be a bit complicated however and requires an experienced OS administrator to do so correctly and safely.
    2) To remove your Oracle installation from UNIX:
cd <directory where dbms is installed>
    rm -Rf *
    3) Your OS configuration may have restrictions that prevent you from opening a session as root. You should get your OS administrator to assist you. Or are YOU the OS administrator? : )
    4) The purpose of logging in as root to complete the dbms installation - certain files in the dbms installation have to be owned as root. As well, a few files are required in /etc, and only root can write to that directory. You must run the required scripts as root, or your dbms installation will be incomplete.

  • Oracle Discoverer unable to open the workbook due to insufficient Permissio

I have an error message when I try to open a workbook with some worksheet.
( It's working fine with only one Worksheet)
    Any idea ?

Well here's how it's supposed to work.
Step 1: Create workbook A with 5 reports (5 worksheets)
Step 2: Go into Disco Admin and make sure each business area where the folder(s) referred to in the step 1 can be seen by each user you're sharing the workbook with (security). For example, if worksheet 1 accesses business area: GL_Stuff, then security on GL_Stuff must be with all 5 users you'll share the report with.
Step 3. Share workbook A with the 5 users (via Plus or Desktop where you created the workbook).
Step 4. All users can see and run the workbook / worksheet.
    Questions:
    1. I don't know what you mean in your Step 3. There's no permissions at this point. What you do is give read to ALL tables / views, etc. to the owner of the EUL. Then either the owner of the EUL (or another user who has been given admin privs) controls security to other roles via the Tools-> Security window in Admin.
    2. Are you 5 worksheets based on the same business area or are they going to different business areas. No problem if going to different ones, but you must make sure security for sharing with the other users / roles is for each business area they will be using to retrieve data from the folder and therefore the underlying view / table / sql statement.

    Hi,
jjcdba user should be the member of "dba" group to enjoy the OS authentication otherwise you would need to use the sys password to login to the database. Please make sure that "dba" os group exists and make this user member of this group.

  • Unable to login to Oracle E-Business Suite R12 on Windows 2003

    Hi,
I have recently installed EBS R12 on WIN 2003 that finished successfully.
I can launch the login page - http://prora.com.au:8000/OA_HTML/AppsLogin
I entered user/passwd as SYSADMIN/sysadmin but it didn't allow me to get inside.
It doesn't display any error message; it just come back to login screen.
I restarted couple of Services and checked OPMN managed processes etc; all seem to be fine. I have tried stopping/starting all services - adstpall.cmd/adstrall.cmd.
I can login to DB etc.
This is my second attempt to install EBS; my first attempt was on Linux that failed exactly with the same issue as above.
This installation is on VMWARE machine.
I tried to access the applictaion via IE 6, IE 8, Mozilla and Chrome as well; all in vain.
There is nothing suspicious in the Apache logs; there is no error log at all.
Can someone gives me some idea what to check next?
    Thanks,
    Ashton

    hi,

even sysdba itself unable to login.
    ORA_12560 tnsprotocol adapter error.
    thanks

    Hello,

This error may happens on Windows when this service is stopped.
    Best regards,

  • Unable to login to apex as admin after apparent successful installation

I am unable to login to apex as admin after an apparent successful installation.
I have an existing Oracle database 11.2.0.1.0 with Oracle Text running on Windows 7 Professional with hundreds of gigabytes of free disk space available. I did everything as an operating system user with administrator privileges. I downloaded the latest version of apex 4.0.2 for all languages, unzipped the downloaded zip file, extracting all files to an apex directory. I changed the working directory to apex and started sql*plus, connected sys as sysdba, ran apexins.sql installation, apex_epg_config.sql and apexconf.sql configuration, apexchpwd.sql to change the admin password, and apxldimg.sql to copy the images, and exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport(8080), unlocked accounts, and granted connect privileges.
The installation log did not show any errors and included:
"Thank you for installing Oracle Application Express.
Oracle Application Express is installed in the APEX_040000 schema.
The structure of the link to the Application Express administration services is as follows:
http://host:port/pls/apex/apex_admin (Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql)
http://host:port/apex/apex_admin (Oracle XML DB HTTP listener with the embedded PL/SQL gateway)
The structure of the link to the Application Express development interface is as follows:
http://host:port/pls/apex (Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql)
http://host:port/apex (Oracle XML DB HTTP listener with the embedded PL/SQL gateway)
    JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES: 1000"
When I use either browser, Firefox 3.6.12 or Internet Explorer 8.0, and go to http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin I get a screen that says:
"Enter Application Express internal administration credentials"
and has boxes for a username and password. When I enter admin and the admin_password that I selected, then click on login nothing happens. I don't get logged in. I don't get an error message. It does not show any signs of anything running. It just sits there. I also don't get any messages from Windows or Norton 360 indicating that a pop-up window was blocked or any such thing. I checked that the services are running and also tried shutting down the computer and re-starting (cold boot), but was still unable to login.
I am a retired developer, not a DBA, so if there is anything else that I should do or check or provide, then please let me know. I have provided a copy and paste of everything that I could think of below. Oddly I don't see an admin user.

Are you sure you did give right path to script ? Yes.
    >
If you extract files to folder c:\temp, you have after that folder c:\temp\apex and bunch of sub folders.
For script to update images, you give path to folder where you did extract apex install files.
In above case that is then c:\temp .
    >I created a directory c:\apex on my laptop. I downloaded the zip file to that directory. When I extracted the files to folder c:\apex, the result was c:\apex\apex with a bunch of sub folders and files. When I ran the script, I gave the path c:\apex as indicated in my copy and paste. So, I did everything the same as in the quote above, except that I used apex instead of temp.
Try extract Apex install zip to c:\temp and give c:\temp as path for scriptAre you suggesting that I redo the entire installation using c:\temp instead of c:\apex? What difference would that make? Would I need to do some sort of uninstall first?

    Looking for positive response.
    Thanks & REgards,

You said it was: "There were two triggers with names on_logon and ON_LOGON"
That clearly implies two triggers of the same name (one being case sensitive, the other not) within the same schema. Nothing to do with being created by different users.
    e.g.
    SQL> select table_name from user_tables where upper(table_name) = 'T';
    no rows selected
    SQL> create table t (x number);
    Table created.
    SQL> select table_name from user_tables where upper(table_name) = 'T';
    TABLE_NAME
    T
    SQL> create table "t" (x number);
    Table created.
    SQL> select table_name from user_tables where upper(table_name) = 'T';
    TABLE_NAME
    T
    t
SQL>Two tables "t" and "T" created by the same user.

Hi anyone can advise me on this?

  • Unknown SID Error Message/Unable To Login to VM Manager

    Hello,
I have installed VM Server and VM Manager on the latest Virtual Box install for Windows 7.
When I attempt to login into the VM Manager (ID: ovm , Default Password: Welcome1) - I get
    the error message:
"... [APP: ovm_console] An incorrect username or password was specified. ...."
I selected all default passwords and database config values during installation (e.g., SID=XE).
(Note: I am able to login to VM Manager GNOME desktop but I am unable to log into the VM Manager UI.
I can log in as root in a Xterm window and the ovm Welcome1 password allows me into the GNOME environment. )
The critical error message in the AdminServer.log IS an unknown 'SID' message (even though the default SID=XE was selected):
"ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor"
I reviewed the responses to the "Unable to Login to VM Manager" thread so I decided to try the recommended response (unlocking ovs oracle password) even though the logs responses were different in certain areas. I logged in as Oracle with the correct user env and attempted to start the XE database via sqlplus sys user and startup command. I was unable to start the database due to the below error message:
    2012-11-23 14:13:46.210
18 Oracle Instance Startup operation failed. Another process may be attempting to startup or shutdown this Instance.
19 Failed to acquire instance startup/shutdown serialization primitive
    ~
Shutdown abort also did not get rid of this message. Symptons suggest there is a lock not being released (e.g., primitive file that needs to be cleaned up/removed.) I did remove oracle *.lck files from /tmp directory but this did not help either. The ps -elf output also reveals there are no oracle pmon processes running.
If anybody has additional information on this matter - it would be greatly appreciated.

Further investigation reveals the reason why I can't manually start the database as oracle user. The permissions on the oracle directories via the default install are incorrect. Running the command chown -R oracle:dba /u01/app/oracle/ allowed the database to start.. OVS user is now able to login into the XE database.
Now logging in w/ admin user in VM results in the following error message:
" Unexpected error during login (com.oracle.ovm.mgr.api.exception.FailedOperationException: OVMAPI_6000E Internal Error: Connection refused Connection refused Sat Nov 24 11:39:22 PST 2012), please consult logs for details.
I am spending way too much time on this Virtual box install. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hi Lance,
Thanks for the documents. Its really helpful to me.
I am able to change the look and feel of my reports. But I am unable to change the corporate logo.
    The steps that I followed.
    1.Goto discoverer Plus configruation.
2.Goto Logo change the option button from None to File and Choosed the .jpg file from C:\Logos.
    3.Restarted the application server.
4.Open the BI plus reports in IE. But still I am seeing the same Oracle Logo only.
5.But whatever the look and feel like plastic/system/oracle I changed I am able to see the changes.
6.The logo change is not as simple as I thought??. I need to create Jar on this logo and I need to put the jar file in java /j2ee directory???.
    Thanks,
    Nats
