Oracle Forms run with Sun Java Plugin

Hello,
I have a machine which does not have Mozilla. But i wanna run the forms in Google Chrome, not IE. I installed JInitiator (the final version), but when i run the form i still got in Chrome that there are missing plugins.
I should mention that i just installed Dev Suite 10gR2 and i did not change anything in forms configuration files.
What should i change and where?
Thanks

- Prepare your /forms/server/formsweb.cfg file
instead of the archive_jini tag, use the archive tag
archive=frmall.jar,...,my_jar.jar
add a special section (including the Webutil configuration)
[javaplugin]
baseHTMLJInitiator=webutiljpi.htm
jpi_download_page=http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_09/index.html
jpi_classid=clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93
jpi_codebase=http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,4,0,0
WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
WebUtilLogging=off
WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
WebUtilTrustInternal=true
WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
If you don't use the Webutil library, point to the basejpi.htm start page:
baseHTMLJInitiator=basejpi.htm
- Configure the Forms Builder to use this section:
Menu : Edit -> preferences...
tab : runtime
item : Application server url : http://my-machine:8890/forms/frmservlet?config=javaplugin
Then run your forms !

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g with Sun Java App server

    I have oracle JDeveloeper 10g and sun App Server 8. I want to find out if JDeveloper can create entity beans that can run on Sun app server.
    I know that sun app server uses things like sun-cmp-mapping.xml and sun-ejb-jar.xml. If i create these as normal in JDeveloper would they run on sun app server? if not what configuration do i need to do?

    Sun Java App Server 8 doesn't ship with the Apache Tomcat jk/jk2 connector. But you can download Tomcat 5 and install it. Copy ${catalina_home}/server/lib/tomcat-jk2.jar under $s1as_home}/lib
    Now Sun Java App Server 8 will have the code required. Then you will need to start the jk connector (this is the most difficult task). Since you don't have any API to start this connector to listen (in Tomcat, the connector is started by default and listen on port 8009), the only way for you to start it is to use JMX. Pick one of the available JMX client ( jmx-ri is a good candidate), and do:
    (1) create the connector
    (2) start the connector
    Then follow the Jakarta Tomcat instruction on how to install Apache and JK2.
    I didn't spend the time to find the exact command for JMX, but technically it should work. Once I have time I will take a look (The Tomcat 5 Admin Gui uses JMX, so by browing the code you should find the exact JMX command)
    Hope that help.

  • Problems with WebUtil under Sun Java plugin

    Hi,
    I have a Forms application using WebUtil which works fine under Oracle jinitiator for years. It works with both MS IE and Mozilla Firefox (some other browsers were also successfully tested). Now when Mozilla released Firefox 3.6 requiring next generation Java (http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2010/01/firefox_36_ebs.html) Oracle jinitiator (Java version 1.3.1.22) cannot work and I was forced to download and install the latest JRE plugin version (http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u18-windows-i586.cab). I provided required formsweb.cfg modifications:
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0018-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    jpi_codebase=http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u18-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,6,0,18
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_18
    Now my application starts (previously it required a plugin installation) but fails with the error:
    oracle.forms.webutil.cApi.CApiFunctions bean not found. WEBUTIL_C_API.REBIND_PARAMETER will not work

    This happens on the very first call to WebUtil function in the ON-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger.
    My questions are:
    - May I configure WebUtil for both jinitiator and Sun Java plugin usage?
    - What is missed in jpi configuration preventing WebUtil normal execution?
    Thank you in advance,
    Ilia

    Hi All,
    Thank you for your responds.
    The following separate configuration section is used in this situation:
    [jpiadm280]
    baseHTMLJInitiator=basejpi.htm
    envFile=InPlan.2.80.env
    pageTitle=InMind Administration Utilities v. 2.80
    width=950
    height=680
    form=CEDB_main_menu
    background=/forms/java/fls_bgnd
    logo=/forms/java/fls_logo
    splashScreen=no
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    colorScheme=teal
    imageBase=codeBase
    WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar_
    WebUtilLogging=off
    WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
    WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
    WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
    WebUtilTrustInternal=true
    WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
    baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljpi.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,fls_icons.jar,FormsGraph.jar
    archive=frmall.jar
    otherparams=useSDI=no
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0018-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    jpi_codebase=http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u18-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,6,0,18
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_18
    Please see highlighted with bold parameters to make sure that all recommendations were taken into account. Nevertheless the error message shows that CApiFunctions.class was not found and this class is within frmwebutil.jar, which is also referred within this configuration section (highlighted with bold undrline). So it looks like a sort of incompatibility of frmwebutil.jar with Sun JRE plugin 1.6.0_18. Do I need another version of frmwebutil.jar to run with next generation Java?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ilia

  • How to deploy the native dll with the applet package by Sun Java Plugin

    I have an applet which use some native methods. I have written code for the native dll, but I don't know how to deploy the DLL with the applet jar file for Sun Java Plugin. What parameter do i should pass to System.loadLibrary()? I think the solution should don't care which browser used by the end client. How to do it? How to deal with the applet security problem?
    Thank for any comment!

    I have a similar problem.
    Trying to use the javax.comm package requires that the user have the win32com.dll located on their machine.
    I have solved the problem by using a signed applet that allows me to write the dll to the clients machine and then run the code but ideally I would like to run the code without writing the dll to the users machine...i.e. I want to load the dll directly through the applet in the same way the class files are loaded forthe applet are loaded without copying them to the clients machine. After trying everything I have come to the conclusion that it is NOT possible. The calls loadLibrary and load both require that the dll reside on the clients machine. If anyone has had a different experience please rebut this.

  • Can't execute web app from NetBeans 3.6 with Sun Java App Server 8

    Hi there,
    I'm tyring to execute a java web application called myfirstjsp.
    In directory ...\myfirstsjp I've got:
    - index.jsp
    - WEB-INF dir
    - META-INF dir.
    I can run myfirstjsp from NetBeans if I choose the Netbeans default server, Tomcat 5.0.19 (this web server is configured to port 8084).
    However, when I try to execute myfirstjsp from NetBeans with Sun Java System Application Server 8(configured to port 8080), it gives me an annoying message:
    The Sun Java System Application Server 8 could not start.
    More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used by the operating system.)
    - Incorrect server configuration (domain.xml to be corrected manually)
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications preventing the server to start.(This can be seen in the server.log file. In this case, domain.xml needs to be modified).
    I checked port conflicts but none found.
    The other two options don't give me a place to start (I don't know what to do with domain.xml)
    I'm working with:

    By looking at the Sun App Server log file, I discovered that the log outputs of
    - Start Default Server (a link in the folder created by the installation of Sun App Server)
    - and trying to execute myfirstjsp from NetBeans through Sun App Server
    are very similar.
    Below is a piece of server.log when I tried to execute myfirstjsp from NetBeans through Sun App Server. Please, pay attention to the EJBC error:

    Is this EJB compilation error normal ? if not what does it mean ? Sun Java App Server installation isn't OK ?
    I tried to look into the Sun App Server Troubleshooting, searched forums... but couldn't squeeze any valuable info from any of them.
    If you have any sugestion regarding this problem, or you know some web site that addresses it please tell me !
    Many thanks,
    Miguel

    I seem to have the same problem, I cant run sun application server 8.1. The server is in c:\sun\appserver\, I am using netbeans 4.1. I recieve the same comment above:
    The Sun Java System Application Server 8 could not start.
    More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used by the operating system.)
    - Incorrect server configuration (domain.xml to be corrected manually)
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications preventing the server to start.(This can be seen in the server.log file. In this case, domain.xml needs to be modified).
    I cant see any port conflict, the server is set to port 4848. I dont know about any configurations.
    This is the Exception:

  • Fonts using sun java plugin on linux

    Hi,
    The font size is too small if we run our web form on a linux client. The font used on the linux client is "dialog". If we run the same form with the sun java plugin 1.4 on a windows client, the font "dialog" looks fine. Has anyone experienced this before or knows a solution to get a larger font size on the linux client. We would like to have the same look on linux as on windows using the same form files (*.FMX). we use forms6i.
    Kind regards,
    Johan

    I could install it in a different machine (linux). However on the machine it failed, it never asked me to enter the user name. Where do I enter it.
    On the machine where I was succesfull, i was prompted to enter admin user name.
    Thanks
    bib

  • Mouse navigations problem with Sun Java 1.5.0_*

    Hello gurus,
    We need to move from JInitiator to Sun Java Plugin; according to the Forms10g Client Platform Support (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gR2/clientsod_forms10gR2.html) one of the certified version for Forms 10.1.2.0.2 of the the Sun Java Plugin is 1.5.0_06 and Internet Explorer 6.0, we have tested also SJPI 1.5.0_09 and we get the same mouse navigation problem reported in the following Oracle Forum threads.
    Mouse navigation don't work with Java Plugin.
    Mouse navigation don't work with Java Plugin.
    Forms 10gR2, Sun Java 1.5.0_06 gives mouse problems
    Forms 10gR2, Sun Java 1.5.0_06 gives mouse problems
    Does anybody know a solution to this problem?
    Any help will be really appreciated.
    Regards,
    Victor.

    You need to use 1.5.0_12 or newer. The client SOD is not up-to-date on this specific point. A lot of navigation problems was fixed in this very release.
    The Management team should change this in the client SOD, wonder why they still refer to 1.5.0_06. For Applications, the first 1.5.0 to be certified was _12.
    Also make sure, that you are using the latest Patch 3 for 10.1.2 (10.1.2.3). This patch also contains fixes for a lot of these wellknown issues.
    Hope this helps,
    Jacob

  • Discoverer 4i not working with Sun JRE plugin

    Hi All,
    Recently i replaced jinitiator with Sun JRE plugin, after the deployment of the plugins the discoverer is not launching from the form based responsibility.
    Its displaying on window as
    Applet oracle.disco.DiscoApplet notinited
    But i see the document 290807.1 for deployment of Sun JRE its no where mentioned that 4i will not Support Sun JRE plugins.
    Any inputs are appreciated
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You can upgrade to Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.3).

    If you are not planning to use Oracle AS 10g features (like Discoverer Connection Management, Discoverer Portlet Provider, and Oracle Single Sign On, ..etc), you can choose to install Oracle Business Intelligence Server 10g Release 2. Oracle Business Intelligence Server 10g Release 2 is available on a separate standalone CD and includes Discoverer Server 10g, Discoverer Plus 10g, and Discoverer Viewer 10g.

    Youve got to unmount the portal server fs from your project, disable the portlet builder plugin (Tools->options->,,,PortletBuilder) then erase the ps folder inside your ide profile and then start the portlet builder module again. Try to simulate it again and it should work.

  • Sun java plugin for Safari for windows

    Dear Friends
    I have installed Safari in Windows XP. I tried to load my applet through safari. It doesn't ask for signing and doesn't run the applet. Actually safari uses its own java plugin . Is there any option to use sun java plugin for that one and run the signed applets. please reply immediately

    We (Sun) don't have much experience with Safari on Windows at this point. Going forward, the new Java Plug-In in 6u10 should work with Safari on Windows, once Safari upgrades their NPAPI and NPRuntime interfaces to the versions in Firefox 3.

  • JavaScript to Java with the Java Plugin, anyone?

    The java.sun.com web site seems to be teeming with docs on how to access JavaScript from Java, and the Netscape site seems to have plenty of docs on how to access Java methods from JavaScript using the browser's own JRE.
    But can one use JavaScript to access methods of a Java applet running under the Java Plugin? And if so, how?

    all the public methods and fields of an applet are exposed to javascript. In the <applet> tag, set...
    <applet ...otherinfo... mayscript></applet>, or
    <applet ...otherinfo... mayscript="true"></applet>
    I think the latter version is safer to use, as I think IE has issues if you just use the mayscript tag without the "true" value.
    So if that is set, in javascript all you have to do is address the applet, and call any of its public fields/methods. (Actually, I know you can call all public methods and I think you can call all the public fields as well...)
    var applet = self.document.applets[0];So now you can call all the public members, such as...
    applet.start();
    applet.stop();
    applet.myPublicFn1();
    applet.myPublicFn2(arg1, arg2);
    var val = applet.pubField1;etc.
    Note that if you're using Java2 (swing) thru the object/embed tags rather than just using the applet tag, things don't work that smoothly. I tried once and the applet wasn't actually found in the applets collection of the document. I tried finding the 'applet' object but had no such luck...
    Hope that helps.
    Good luck.

  • Tivoli Access Manager 6.0 with Sun Java System Directory 6.3

    Hi,
    We have been using Tivoli Access Manager 6.0 with Sun Java System Directory 6.3 .
    Using IBM TAM Java API we can administer the user creation but the API provide support only to create user with required attribute as user name, password, description, setAccoutntvalid etc.
    But Sun Java System Directory 6.3 contains the many attributes as just to name a few...
    First Name (givenname), User ID (uid),Password (userPassword), Confirm Password
    E-mail (mail), Telephone Number (telephoneNumber), Country (c),Fax Number (facsimileTelephoneNumber), Locality (l), Organization (o), Organizational Unit (ou), accessHint, accountHint, departmentNumber, description, destinationIndicator, displayName, employeeNumber ETC...
    Now My Issue is if we need to add the values for other attributes as "accessHint" , "employeeNumber" etc, then how can we acheive using IBM TAM Java API or is there any other way.
    Thanks for your kind help...

    Looks like the attribute sunIdentityServerDiscoEntries is defined twice in the schema. Run the following and see where it is defined for the second time.
    # cd /var/opt/SUNWdsee/dsins1/config/schema
    # grep -w sunIdentityServerDiscoEntries *.ldif | grep -iv objectclasses

    There is no automatic way to do this in JDeveloper. I know there are some Oracle Partners offering forms to java conversion, I don't know how much of their tools are automated and done with JDeveloper. With JDeveloper+ADF you basically rewriting the Forms application from scratch (and using ADF is helpful during this process).

  • ColdFusion compatibility with Sun Java System Application Server

    Background: A vendor that is doing a project for our
    department told us that ColdFusion MX 6.1 is not compatible with
    Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 and
    beyond. Since we are migrating our server environment to this
    release of Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition,
    we face a difficult situation in that our ColdFusion applications
    will no longer run. Thus, we would like Adobe to answer a couple
    questions which will help us determine what course of action we
    ought to take.
    Q: Will applications we developed using ColdFusion MX 6.1 run
    on Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1? Below
    is a detailed description of the Sun Java System Application Server
    Enterprise Edition we intend to migrate to.
    Q: Is Adobe aware of any compatibility issues with this
    configuration?
    Q: What is Adobe's support commitment regarding future
    releases of ColdFusion MX and Sun Java System Application Server
    Enterprise Edition? Does Adobe intend to continue support this
    environment?
    Configuration: Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise
    Edition 8.1_02 (build b24-p11)
    Below is the specification levels for the 8.1 server
    (J2EE1.4), note it can use J2SE 1.4.2_06 or 5.0 as the JAVA
    runtime.
    J2EE 1.4 compatible
    Components: J2SE 1.4.2_06 or J2SE 5.0
    Application and Application Client
    Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) 2.1
    Java Servlet 2.4
    JavaServer Pages(JSP) 2.0
    J2EE Connector Architecture 1.5
    JMX 1.2
    JMS 1.1
    Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) 1.2
    and Java Transaction API (JTA) 1.0
    Web Services:Java Web Services Developer Pack 1.5
    Java APIs for XML Registries (JAXR) 1.0
    Java API for XML-based Remote Procedure Calls (JAX-RPC) 1.1
    SOAP With Attachments API for Java (SAAJ) 1.2
    WS-I Basic Profile 1.0
    Other:J2EE Deployment 1.1
    J2EE Management 1.0
    Java API for XML Processing (JAXP) 1.2
    JavaMail 1.3
    Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) 1.0
    Java Authorization Contract for Containers (JACC) 1.0

    First of all, is there a reason why you are using jRockit?
    Since the issue appeared after upgrading the windows, the issue would potentially be in the interaction between JVM and OS.
    Also, there were some issues related to memory leak that were fixed in AS 8.2.
    May be you should try with a Sun JVM and AS 8.2.

  • Problem with Sun Java Creator JDBC driver .....

    Hi:
    I am new to Java Studio Creator. I am using Oracle Enterprise Edition 8.0.5.0 database to get data from. Through Servers Navigator->Data Sources, I define a new datasource using default JSC JDBC driver for Oracle. However, when I try to test the connection I get the following error.
    [sunm][Oracle JDBC Driver] Internal Error: Net8 Protocol Error
    Can someone tell me what is going on here? By the way I also have Netbeans 4.0 IDE which works fine with the same database.
    -Victor bagga

    I was using the following database URL.
    jdbc:sun:oracle://autoserv.cqtel.com:1521;SID=autosvdb
    The SID is valid because I can use other JDBC drivers such as Oracle's thin driver which uses the Database URL
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@autoserv.cqtel.com:1521:autosvdb
    and it works. However, I can not use the Oracle thin JDBC driver with Sun Java Creator as it seems to be incompatible. Using this driver I can successfully define a datasource and veiw all the data and make all kind of queries through the Server Navigator window but when I try to drop a database table on to a Data Table in my project, nothing happens. If I try to Edit the query on the rowset, the GUI window does not show any Column names and display names.
    By the way, I also have an Oracle 9.x database which works just fine with Java Ctreator Studio. I really like Java Creator as I find it very productive but not being able to make it work with Oracle 8.0.5.0 takes the fun out of it.
