Oracle Globalization - GetSessionInfo gives error

I am using ODP.Net OracleGlobalization class to get the SessionInfo and then to override the sessionInfo settings.
I am able to override these settings properly on an English OS with the NLS_Lang set to American_America.AL32UTF8. After overridding these settings I am also able to retrieve the sessionInfo by issuing the command GetSessionInfo and it works properly.
When I try the same on a J-OS with NLS_Lang set to JAPANESE_JAPAN.JA16SJIS it works properly.
BUT
When I try this on J-OS with NLS_Lang set to JAPANESE_JAPAN.AL32UTF8, I get an error. .Net is actually throwing this error, so I am somewhat confused about what is going on here.
Why a change of character set is giving me an error.
Just to clarify, the error happens, when I try to retrieve the SessionInfo settings one it has been overridden.
My database is 10.2.0.3 and I am using ODP.Net 2.x

One odd behaviour I am seeing with the object that is retuned by GetSessionInfo, is that it having the ClientCharacterSet always set to Shift JS, even if I change my NLS_Lang character set to AL32UTF8.
Wondering if this is in some way causing this issue.

  • Oracle purchasing attachments gives error

    I am trying to load an attachment to a PO and gets an error Required database login or file information is missing.
    The Attachment File Directory profile option is set to a directory in the web server. I understand that the web server should have permissions on this directory and is to be setup in DBCA DBCONFIG file.I just need to determine directories which are set up as accessible to the web server .Where do I look for the configuration file containing directories accessible to web server.

    This is on metalink
    Required database login or file information is missing.
    (FILE ID=<some number>)
    (FILE DIR=)
    (FILE UPLOAD PARAMS=ADD,attachment number,NEW)
    (DBCONFIG FILE=<DBC filename>)
    (SERVER URL=<Applications Web Agent URL>)
    In this case, "File Dir=" is NULL. The directory that this argument refers
    to is the one specified in the System Profile Option "Attachment File
    Directory". Login to Applications as System Administrator and verify this
    setting by navigating to Profile/System and querying on "Attach%". The value
    of "Attachment File Directory" must refer to a directory accessible by the
    Oracle Web Applications Server and must end with a trailing slash. If you
    change this profile option, you must log off and then log back in for it to
    take effect.
    The DBCONFIG file is the file name of DBC (Data Base Connection) file that
    you created during the 768101 readme.
    The Server URL refers to the Applications Web Agent as mentioned above.
    "File ID" and "File Upload Params" are provided internally.
    As for the other information
    The OS Details are
    SunOS krishna 5.8 Generic_117350-62 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440
    The EBS Version is 11.0.300
    I certainly logged out of the app and logged in again after setting the profile. And Apache was bounced.
    My question is this
    I am chosing Internal Purchase Order category and Data Type as "File" . So I am assuming that the problem is because the web server cannot create the attachment file in the host machine.(Or am I completely in the wrong track - is it a database login problem (DBC File) )
    Obviously you cannot upload attachment file to any directory on the Web Server hosting machine.So where (in web server config files ?) do you specify list of writable directories. If I can verify this then my problem is solved.
    Thanks

  • Oracle AIA - ANT build Error - MDS files does not exist

    Hi,
    I have created a typical AIA artifacts project as below
    1. Req_ABCSImpl
    2.EBS
    3.Prov_ABCSImpl
    All 3 artifacts have XSD, WSDL which are stored in MDS via update intp MDS DB.
    I an trying to compile the artifacts with ANT Scripts provided by Oracle OOTB (ant-sca-compile.xml).
    This gives error as - the files which are referred to "oramds" location does not exist.
    So can you please let me know how-to resolve this issue?
    Note:
    The files exists in MDS DB
    thanks,
    Mark

    In Jdeveloper Each Application has a file called adf-config.xml file whcih will details to oramds link
    under Application Resources ->Descriptors ->ADF-META-INF
    adfconfig.xml file like
    <metadata-store-usage id="mstore-usage_2">
    <metadata-store class-name="oracle.mds.persistence.stores.db.DBMetadataStore">
    <property name="jdbc-userid" value="DEV_MDS"/>
    <property value="XYX" name="jdbc-password"/>
    <property name="jdbc-url"
    value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@//localhost:1521/SID"/>
    <property name="partition-name" value="soa-infra"/>
    </metadata-store>
    </metadata-store-usage>
    this file helps to determine where to find the mds?
    In wsdl you might be referring to
    oramds:apps/AIAMetadata/<Foldername>/<wsdlname.wsdl>
    Oramds is defined using this file adf-config.xml to determine whcih machine it should use.
    During developemnt the artifacts like xsd or wsdl are moved to mds in one machine or environemnt but we try to deploy on different machine. While compiling try to check whether you connected to correct mds having those files.

  • PL/PDF - Procedure test1 is executed but gives error

    Hello All,
    I have Oracle XE 10g with Oracle Apex and recently I installed PL/PDF in the same. I tried to execute the headerfooter procedure given in the installation guide. But it gives error ORA-20000: ERR-006 Procedure call error: xxfooter. How can I get the header and footer from this procedure headerfooter?
    - create header footer procedure

    end;
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply,
    Since the owner of header/footer procedures is different than plpdf, I should have given the grants to plpdf schema but unfortunately I missed. Thanks for the answer it worked. Instead of creating synonyms for the procedures in plpdf schema I am passing procedure name with qualifier, the name of its owner, to plpdf api (owner.procedure_name).

  • Oracle Intelligent Agent Startup Error

    Whenever I try to startup the Oracle Intelligent Agent on my DB server I get
    the error:
    could not open emtab at /var/opt/oracle/emtab.
    I am using Oracle9iR2 and have installed the complete package. I did a
    search of the HD and this file does not exists anywhere..which explains why
    it was not found! does anyone know what I must do to resolve this problem?
    can I just ignore this error???
    Note: I only want to run the agent, the EM database is not installed on this machine but a seperate machine in another location.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve,

    No, just the 9i R2 database + EM, we don't use AS. Maybe I can just ignore this error?? Sometimes I notice oracle gives errors which are in fact just warnings or information. not very helpful as you never know. Not sure if I can ignore this or not.
    Thanks,

    ORA-1092 signalled during: ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ ONLY...
    Please suggest me how can i open it in read only mode.

    Just enable force logging on production: ALTER DATABASE FORCE LOGGING;
    And then recreate standby database.
    However, enabling "force logging" will cause nologging operations to be logged which may cause performance problems. If you need nologging operations, then i suggest:
    * Move all tables on which you do nologging operations to a tablespace A
    * Set force logging on tablespace level on all tablespaces except tablespace A
    * Recreate standby
    You may open standby if you set tablespace A offline. However tablespace A will not be a part of disaster recovery (as it seems now)

  • SAPDBA gives error  Unable to find library 'libclntsh.sl.8.0'

    Hello All,
    I brought up a new QAS system by copying oracle and sap executables, followed by restore from online backup.
    i followed the post described below:
    How to build a new SAP system
    The oracle DB is up and running and sap is also up.
    When i try to execute sapdba,logged in as both SID<adm> and ora<SID>
    I get the follwoing error:
    <b>/usr/lib/pa20_64/dld.sl: Unable to find library 'libclntsh.sl.8.0'.
    Segmentation fault</b>
    other tools like svrmgrl and sqlplus works fine.
    Upon investigation i found that, i did not copy /oracle/client and that is causing this error.
    I copied the following /oracle directories
    /oracle/SID
    /oracle/version_number
    /oracle/stage
    I did not copy the following directories
    /oracle/client
    /oracle/oraInventory
    /oracle/jre
    /oracle/oui
    Since the system is up and running already , is it ok for me to copy the left out directories now? Also are they all needed essentially or just /oracle/client is enough.
    Please help me as this is very urgent task. Any help with be greatly appreciated with points.
    Thanks,
    Basis learner

    Hello Prince,
    I followed your guidelines to build this QA system. Thanks a lot for that. Copied the executables of oracle and sap and restored from online backup.
    The System is up and running. Only sapdba command is giving the error message.
    I copied the oracle executable from PRD to QAS and i didnot install from scratch.
    The SAP version is 4.6B running on Oracle 8.1.7.4 over HP-UX11i
    My concern if i bring down both SAP and DB and copy over the /oracle/Client directory from PRD to QAS , will it cause any issue in bringing the system backup?
    also this error from sapdba, is it caused due to missing /client directory only?
    Oracle Metalink says:
    Stop the instance and listener and then  recreate LIBCLNTSH.SL.8.0:
           1. %cd $OH/bin
           2. %genclntsh64
    Then relink :  relink utilities
    But this fix is for the symptom:
    <b>symptom: Running SQLLDR gives error</b>
    In My case, the symptom is Running sapdba gives this error
    what will be the impact if i do so now? any directions will be greatly appreciated.
    Please guide.
    Thanks in Advance,

  • Startup command starts database but alter database open read only gives error

    Hi,
    I'm having some strange behavior. I've 10.2.0.3 database on windows 2003.
    The startup command starts database without any issues.
    But if I try following it gives error.
    startup mount (successful no errors)
    alter database open read only; gives error that file Mnnnnnn is missing.
    Why this is happening and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

    You really need to show us exactly what Oracle is telling you, using copy and paste, so we can have some clue.  You can hide details like instance and host names if they show up.
    I'm wondering if you had some messed up offline datafile in a tablespace, where Oracle handles it with startup, but gets upset when you try to open read-only.  It's some bizarro sequence of events like: add a datafile to a tablespace, decide that was a mistake, alter it offline, then remove it from the OS without telling Oracle any more about it.  I've come back from vacation to find scenarios like this, it winds up being a time-bomb trying to recreate a standby later.  Or something like that, I could be unremembering some details.
