Oracle Lite java(?) conduit for Palm

I had a lot of fun getting the Oracle Lite for handhelds install to work. Now I get the following error on hotsync:
Unable to initialize threads: ,en
Can't create Java VM
OK Oracle with 2 message(s)
Has anyone actually managed to get this to work? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanx

No, but you can write a conduit in plain Java (1.2+ I think) using the Java CDK from Palm (for free).

    Hello you two,
I couldn4t get the connection with Java also, I tried for one month, so do you have a solution for this?
    Second (and more urgent):
I've got the following message on my pocketPC during the synchronization with consolidatorclient :

Do you know this error and do you know a solution??
    Thanx for help

    Hello Mr. Summers,
Perhaps you are a bit surprised because you postet your question in 1999 but I have looked through nearly all entries about Oracle 8i Lite because I have the same Problem and I hope that you have some news after the past two years...
I am also trying to programm the OKAPI but there is a mystirious thing. In the documentation they are writing about a function called okInit. I couldn4t find this function in any of the headerfiles...

  • Oracle lite Java Command to drop a device

I want to know if there is a java method to drop a device from the Oracle lite repository. I don't find it in the java doc. If such method does not exist maybe I could delete the Device in the repository tables? Is someone did that before?
    Thank you
    Simon

    is that what you need?
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12095_01/doc.10303/e12090/oracledb.htm#BCGGBGGC
    3.1 Deleting a Client Device
If you want to delete a device, use the delete method from the Device class. To retrieve the Device object, use either the getDevice or getDeviceByName methods, as demonstrated below.
If the device id is available, the following can be directly used:
    if (oracle.lite.resource.ResourceManager.getInstance() == null)
    oracle.lite.resource.ResourceManager.initialize(JDBC_URL, USER, PASSWORD);
    oracle.lite.resource.Device d =
    oracle.lite.resource.ResourceManager.getInstance().getDevice(deviceId);
    d.delete();
If the device id is not available, then you can provide the device name, which is shown on the Mobile Manager UI in the oracle.lite.resource.User.getDeviceByName(deviceName) method. Once retrieved, use the delete method of the Device object as demonstrated above.

  • ISync in 10.4.7 (intel) refuses to install conduit for Palm

Hello, I am trying to install th iSync conduit to sync my Palm Zire 71 with iSync, but every time I try to enable the settings iSync tells me the Hotsync Manager was not installed properly despite it working perfectly fine syncing the Zire.
I have reinstalled the latest version of Palm desktop, deleted users, even ran the old permissions fix script and not one thing has worked. I am kinda desperate for a solution at this point.

The issue you are describing is actually one of the most common problem encountered with the Palm Desktop, HotSync Manager and Transport Monitor, and usually occurs as the result of electing to reinstall Mac OS X 10.x.x using an archive and install option. Here are two methods you can use to correct the issue:
Take a look at the permissions of the folders listed below. Your permissions for the folders listed below should appear as described below the pathname to that folder:
    For the Macintosh HD:Applications:Palm folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm Desktop folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
You can either reset those values manually, [then restart and recheck them to be sure that they are set correctly] or use the Terminal application by typing these strings listed below this example—substituting your short user name—as shown below:
    sample: "sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm"
    actual: "sudo chown -R michaellafferty:admin /Applications/Palm"
…where michaellafferty is the <shortusername> in my case. Be sure to pay attention to the spaces in each string, and the direction of the / or \ [forward and back slash] characters.
Here are the appropriate Terminal entries. Each is is shown bulleted below, but actually begins with the term sudo:
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm
[NOTE: at this point, you'll be asked to enter your login password]
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Applications/Palm
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
Again, pay particular attention to the spaces and to the \ characters, as both are critical to the syntax of these commands. Remember to place your actual shortusername in the string where the <shortusername> placeholder is shown, as in the sample above. [Do not include the < and > characters around your actual shortusername.]

  • Apple conduits for Palm Tungsten E2 compatibility

I have just upgraded from a Palm m500 to Palm Tunsten E2. I am experiencing a Hotsync error and have been told by Palm Tech support that I need "Apple conduit(s)" to correct the error.
I've been told my tech. knowledge is just enough to get me in trouble! If you know where and what the conduits are that I need, I would appreciate the help.
    Sam475

The newset conduits should be installed with the latest version of Palm Desktop. Which version of PD do you have installed and did you install it before or after the new Palm?
BTW, I just got a Lifedrive and it's install is identical to the Tungsten's.

Unfortuneatly no. I have tried SQL Developer but the program didn't seem to find the drivers. I know the 9.0.4 version of JDev would successfully connect to the database but the newer version compains about "No Suitable Driver."

  • Oracle Lite API to send commands

    Hi,
Is anyone here ever used the Olite API to send commands to devices?
When i send the command "Install apllication" from MobileManager to all devices from one platform. Sometimes, Mobilemanager hangs for hours and not all devices receive the command.
So I would like to know if it can be done by Oracle Lite java API and if someone have somme examples on how to use oracle.lite.resource.dm.* Classes.

  • Click Once and Oracle lite

I'm trying to determine whether Oracle Lite is appropriate for our application.
We're using Oracle on the back-end and would like to use Oracle Lite for disconnected operation on a Windows laptop. That's all fine, and it looks like the tables could sync properly.
The issue is with client app deployment. We're building a C#/WPF application that is going to be deployed using Click-Once from an IIS server.
We don't use Java anywhere. But, I see in the Oracle Lite documentation that win32 apps are packaged as .jar files! And, the mobile server expects to manage the deployment of the application. We really don't want that restriction on us.
Click-Once gives us everything that we would ever want for application, assembly, data files, etc... packaging, deployment, and versioning. So, we really don't want to use the Mobile Server to ship application components to the client.
Can we do this with Oracle Lite?

    Hi,
I would like to install Oracle 10g Lite in my Mobile Device(which has windows XP). Normally the mobile device will not have internet connection.
Whenever I need I have to connect and sync with external database with my Oracle 10g Lite database.
And I want to develop a custom application(prefered technology is ADF) and deploy the application in Oracle 10g Lite.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks.
    With Regards,
    Kali.

  • Requirements to become an Oracle certified Java application

    Hi everyone,
I want to know any information on how to become an Oracle certified Java application for the company I work for.
Technologies involved are Java and Eclipse.
any information or contact you can provide will be highly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Sebastian

    My suggestion is:
    Consider First:
    1) The exam 1z0-051 which should demonstrate your SQL skills.
    2) The exam 1z0-047 which should earn an SQL Certified Expert Certificate.
Beyond that you will need to become more familiar with PL/SQL and go towards a PL/SQL developer OCA then OCP
I believe the following thread is relevant 1Z0-146
Read the blogs/FAW at the top of the forum, and become familair with the oracle education certification pages.
You may also seek out some the the '2-day' training as well.
    Hoep this helps.
