Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.dll

The ODAC installer is not installing Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.dll into the GAC by default.  What is the recommended way to have this happen?   I really do not want to copy the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.EntityFramework.dll dll into every application that needs it and would prefer to have it in the GAC.

You can make use of GACUTIL utility to install the dll into Global Assembly Cache.
ex.
The following command from command prompt installs the assembly mydll.dll into the global assembly cache.
gacutil /i mydll.dll
You should have admin privileges to execute the command

    Do you have a sample reproducing the issue?
    I've tried the following simple test and I do not see any exceptions.
    NOTE: I've enabled all exception types by selecting Debug -> Exceptions... from the menu and then executed the test from VS2012.

    If I use sqlplus to connect "DevDB" and "ProDB" with following command, both DBs can be connected successfully.
    > sqlplus someUser@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xxx.xxx.xxx)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=DBSID)))
    If I use following codes with Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll to connect DBs.
    string connectionString = "User Id=someUser;Password=somePwd;Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xxx.xxx.xxx)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=DBSID)))";
    OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection(connectionString);

      Console.WriteLine(e.StackTrace);
    } finally {
      if (con != null)
      con.Dispose();
    It can connect to "DevDB" successfully. However, when I try to connect "ProDB", it throws following exception.

    Still failed, sometimes it throws "ORA-12537: Network Session: End of file", sometimes throws "ORA-03135: Connection lost contact".
    As ORA-12537 after change to Oracle.ManagedDataAcess.dll mentioned, it works without any problem with the unmanaged library.Please advice, thx.

  • Oracle.ManagedDataAccess raise ORA-03135: Connection lost contact

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect to Oracle RAC using Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll 4.121.2.0 (latest release)
    All instances fail to run and raise the exception OracleInternal.Network.NetworkException (0x80004005): ORA-03135: Connection lost contact ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine
    Except one instance it works fine…, I want to know what is the difference that made it run…, also I was able to connect using the unmanaged driver and the old driver and using sqlplus..
    The DBA sees the connection with this error:
    opiodr aborting process unknown ospid (6904) as a result of ORA-609
    Below the code, App.config, and Trace result, I am showing both the bad connection (badConn) and good connection (goodConn)
    Code:
    string constr1 = "DATA SOURCE=badConn;"; // or GoodConn;
    string constr2 = "USER ID=scott;Password=tiger;";
    string constr3 = "persist security info=True;Self Tuning=True;Min Pool Size=3;Max Pool Size=12;Incr Pool Size=3;Decr Pool Size=1;Connection Timeout=20;Connection Lifetime=59;";
                Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client.OracleConnection conn1;
    string constr = constr1 + constr2;// +constr3; I tried with and without the third part
    using (conn1 = new Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client.OracleConnection(constr))
    try
                        conn1.Open();
    Console.WriteLine(constr1 + "  connected sucessfully...");

  • Oracle.ManagedDataAccess - ora-12537

    Hi,
    I have problems with .net 4.0 WPF application. Everything working ok on developer machine and on tests virtual machines. I have just problem on one laptop. I tried different approaches but nothing helping.
    I'm using connection string like:
    string conn = ser Id=secret_user;Password=secret_password;Data Source=" +
    "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=192.168.7.46)" +
    "(PORT=1523))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=dedicated)(SERVICE_NAME=HDPROD)))";
    or publishing app with tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files and using connections strings like:
    string conn = "User Id=secret_user;Password=secret_password;Data Source=HDPROD"
    And everything is ok on my developer pc, test virtual machines, but im keep getting error: ora-12537 on one of laptops.
    Any ways to fix it?
    Regards,
    Bart.

    I added following settings in app.config file
      <configSections>
        <section name="oracle.manageddataaccess.client" type="OracleInternal.Common.ODPMSectionHandler, Oracle.ManagedDataAccess" />
      </configSections>
      <oracle.manageddataaccess.client>
        <version number="*">
          <settings>
            <setting name="SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES" value="all"/>
            <setting name="NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH" value="ezconnect"/>
          </settings>
        </version>
      </oracle.manageddataaccess.client>

  • How to specifiy the provider to be Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client when creating a dynamic connection string with EF Code First from Database?

    I am trying to use the relatively new Code First from Database with the newest EF (6.x) and on an Oracle database (11g, but I have installed the newest ODTwithODAC). First of all, it works fine as long as the connection string is inside the App.Config file. But when I try to build it dynamically in the C# code (or rather, statically at the moment) it fails. I have it working with a dynamically built connection string when doing Model from Database though, so I'm at a loss right now.
    First, I have created a second constructor for the context class that takes a string and does base(connectionString). Then I build the connection string via
    OracleConnectionStringBuilder oracleBuilder = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
    oracleBuilder.DataSource = "TEST.BLA.COM";
    oracleBuilder.UserID = "ABC";
    oracleBuilder.Password = "abc";
    oracleBuilder.PersistSecurityInfo = true;
    string connection = oracleBuilder.ToStrin();
    Now trying to open an EntityConnection by giving to it this provider-specific connection string (or even the static one from the App.Config) doesn't work; I get "keyword not supported: user id"). Trying it by creating a context and giving this connection string doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure that this is because I didn't specify the provider to use; after all, it should use the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client provider and not an SQL Server based one.
    I then tried to get around this by using an EntityConnectionStringBuilder on top and specifying the provider keyword there, but then I get "keyword not supported: provider" when using it in the context constructor, and "the 'metadata' keyword is always required" when using it with the EntityConnection constructor.
    As I said above: I bet it's the provider that I have to specify somehow, but I don't know how. The code that does work is the following:
    using (var context = new Model())
    context.Database.Connection.Open();
    context.Database.Connection.Close();
    When I read context.Database.Connection.ConnectionString, it is exactly the provider-specific connection string I created above, but I don't know where to specify the provider again. Do you know of any way to do this? Certainly there must be one.
    PS: I have also posted this question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27979454/ef-code-first-from-database-with-managed-oracle-data-access-dynamic-connection because it is quite urgent and I'd like to use Code First from Database. Otherwise I'd have to go "back" to using Model from Database again, which is not ideal because we have updatable views where the .edmx-file has to be edited after every reload of the model, while with Code First from DB inserting into the view automatically works.

  • I can't find namespace oracle.dataaccess.lite.dll

    Dear All,
    I'm developing application on mobile6.0 by using VB .Net, but I couldn't import namespce oracle.dataaccess.lite.dll.
    Where I can downoad it ?Please suggetst
    Thank you very much.
    Meatee.

    Do you have access to Oracle Lite server or at least to the OL server installation files? When you run Oracle Lite server installation, you're prompted about the components of OL you'd like to install. One of the components is MDK (Mobile Development Kit - for WindowsCE in your case) which contains the assembly you need...
    You can also download the OL server installation files from here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/lite/htdocs/10gwinsoft.html
    btw what do you mean by "I've loaded Oracle lite 10g already"??

  • Connect to oracle database with Oracle.DataAccess.Lite_wce.dll

    With Oracle.DataAccess.Lite_wce.dll i want to ceonnect to oracle database.
    I try like:
    OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection("Data Source=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=xxx)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=baza1)));User Id=xx;Password=xx;");
    conn.Open();
    but it said "S1000[POL-3023] the database does not exist".
    What i am doing wrong?

    what client are you using if you are using windows mobile then
    use
    Oracle.DataAccess.Lite.dll on the handheld
    connection string is "dsn=databasename;uid=SYSTEM;pwd=userpassword"
    the username is always system, the passw0rd the the user password of the specific user that the handheld is created for, the database name depends you can see it in the device->orace->odbc.txt file
    if your re on c# then you should write
    using Oracle.DataAccess.Lite;
    LiteConnection OraCon;
    OraCon = new LiteConnection(connectionstring);
    OraCon.Open();

  • Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client Operating System Authentication

    Hi.
    I am trying to get OSA to work with Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client, is this not supported?
    I get the following Error: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    Here are some of the variations of connection string, I have been testing with.
    Data Source=BLA.BLA.COM;
    Data Source=BLA.BLA.COM;User Id=/;
    Data Source=BLA.BLA.COM;Integraded Security=SSPI;
    Data Source=BLA.BLA.COM;Trusted Connection=True;
    Data Source=BLA.BLA.COM;User Id=/;Integraded Security=SSPI;
    Data Source=BLA.BLA.COM;User Id=/;Trusted Connection=True;
    Integrated Security and Trusted Connection gives me, unknown or illegal connection string attribute errors.
    My first assumption would be that my Operating System Account doesn't have access to the Oracle Database I am trying to log on to.
    But I am fully capable of connecting to the database with OSA with sqlplus, sqldeveloper and toad.
    Can somebody explain to me why this isn't working? And what I may do to fix it?
    It may be worth mentioning that I am trying to use the 12c x86 ODP.NET Managed Provider, against 11g/11.2 Oracle Databases.

    That's correct. Kerberos is not currently supported by managed ODP.NET. We are working to support this feature, but don't have an ETA on when it will be available.
    What company or organization is requesting this feature?
    I believe there's an open feature request for Kerberos support in the Oracle .NET Feature Request Tool. Fee free to add your vote to this request.

  • About Oracle.Management.Omo.dll

    Hi Christian,
    First of all, congratulations to the ODT: it is a wonderful tool for Microsoft developers!
    I am developing a .NET application that connects to a schema of an Oracle DB and displays the objects owned by that schema: tables, synonyms, constraints and so on.
    Obviously this is a typical task also performed by ODT during its normal usage inside VS.NET 2003,
    so I wander if I can take advantage of the same assembly used by ODT, the assembly called Oracle.Management.Omo.dll. Unfortunately, the ODT documentation tells nothing about it.
    Do you think my idea is very crazy, or it will work?
    Is the assembly Oracle.Management.Omo.dll designed for private use only by ODT?
    Can I use it directly in my application code?
    A future release of ODT will include the documentation for the assembly Oracle.Management.Omo.dll?
    Excuse me for my poor English and thanks in advance for your answer, Christian!
    Federico Zanin

    Federico
    I have used the oracle management dll within one of my own apps.
    First off you would need to create a connection and once created this needs to be initialized. I am using this in a class and member variables are prefixed with _
    function getConnection () as omo.Connection
    Dim omo As New Oracle.Management.Omo.Connection
    omo.UserID = _sUserID ' User ID
    omo.Password = _sPassword 'Password
    omo.TnsAlias = _sTNS
    Try
    omo.Open()
    omo.Initialize() ' Initialize the connection so you can access its objects
    Catch ex As Exception
    Throw ex
    End Try
    Return omo
    omo = Nothing
    end function
    then if you wanted to retrieve schema info you can declare a schema object and loop through the schemas
    for each sc as schema in omo.schemas
    ' Some processing here
    loop
    to access table information you need to initialize the schema and loop through the table objects.
    dim schema as schema = omo.schemas(schemaName)
    schema.Initialize()
    ' declare a table collection to hold the tables within the schema.
    Dim tables As TableCollection = schema.GetTables(tableType)
    Dim table As TableBase ' Declare tablebase to allow looping through collection
    for each table in tables
    table.initialize() ' Initialize the table to access its properties
    'some processing here
    loop
    I use these kind of procedures to then raise events and populate a treeview. and can the call the table functions to show create scripts ect.
    Hope this gives you some sort of idea on how to use it.

    Hi all,

    What is the new dll for the berklay and vb . net for windows mobile 6.x devices.
    What is the new dll for the sqlite and vb. net for windows mobile 6.x devices.
    Please post the url for the downloads of those and the usage of api.
    This will be helpful to others as well.
    Thanks
    Paninie.

    Hi rekounas,
    Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the System.Data.SQLite.dll..site says we need .net compact 3.5 and above for this dll.
    It seems that the application which use oracle.dataaccess.lite_wce.dll has to be changed to suit to
    sqlite..... And im trying to test them.. what is the dll for berklay for the .net? It looks the applications needs lot of changes on this
    and oracle site does not have the requiierd dll in their site like the oracle.dataaccess.lite_wce.dll
    will have to do lot of experiments in doing this...
    Will post the progress once the testing started .. thanks

  • Vs2013 entityframework.dll could not be found

    I updated VS2013 to VS2013 Update 4, and Entity Framework broke.  My error message is the same as others I've seen with the same problem but NONE of the suggested fixes work:
    Error 2
    Compiling transformation: Metadata file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\Entity Framework Tools\NuGet Packages\..\IDE\EntityFramework.dll' could not be found
    d:\users\allen\documents\visual studio 2013\Projects\WebApplication8\WebApplication8\Models\Model1.tt
    1 1
    WebApplication8
    I'm running Win 7 Pro. I have VS2012 current and runnning and NO PROBLEMS with Entity Framework. Notice that it's seeking the dll on C.  I've made every attempt to install this on D, as C is a rather smallish SSD.  Somehow, the system variables
    have been set to C and no matter how many times I reset the registry, uninstall and reinstall both VS2013 and EF6.1.3. I've used Nuget and it does install the dll in the project location but on BUILD it errors out.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to move forward.
    BTW: the current system variable VS120COMNTOOLS is being set to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\Entity Framework Tools\NuGet Packages\
    which DOES NOT EXIST! This little section of the above error message "Packages\..\IDE\Entity" may be where the wheels fall off. No matter where I put a valid dll, I can't get the "Packages\..\IDE\Entity"
    the ".." figured out.
    Thanks.
    Allen

    Hello Allen,
    May I know some more details about what you have tried?
    Have you tried to use /force when uninstall Visual Studio and have you refered to the following article:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2771441?wa=wsignin1.0
    It is for Visual Studio 2012 but Visual Studio 2013 can still use the article. As it has mentioned, just remove Visual Studio from control panel will not clear all settings due to those shared components. So if you want to completely remove VS and change
    the path, you need to remove those shared components.
    What's more, have you ever tried the solution from the following thread:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10950638/the-referenced-component-entityframework-could-not-be-found
    "Allow NuGet to download missing packages during build" may help you download content to the location it required. Maybe it will helps on this issue.
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • Toad Error - Cannot load OCI DLL: C:\Oracle\instantclient_11_1\oci.dll

    Hello All,
    Help needed to fix this error.
    We are getting the below error from Toad after fresh install on Windows 7 64 Bit.
    Toad for Oracle Base
    Version: 10.6.1.3
    Cannot load OCI DLL: C:\Oracle\instantclient_11_1\oci.dll
    We are using the Oracle Instant Client (instantclient-basic-nt-11.2.0.2.0).
    We are able to connect to the database from the command line successfully, but when we tried to launch the Toad and connect it we are getting the above error.
    How do we fix this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    So is this a Toad issue or an Oracle client issue?More like a general software or programming "issue". If Toad (or other program) is 32-bit, then loaded libraries (e.g. Oracle Client dll's) needs to be 32-bit.
    I'm sure this is documented in requirements for Toad. See e.g. [url http://toadfororacle.com/servlet/KbServlet/download/4264-102-12585/10.6_ReleaseNotes.htm#SystemRequirements]Toad 10.6 Release notes.

  • Build issue regarding missing Oracle.DataAccess.Client.dll ... where is it

    I'm building a new .sln file and it gave me an error in a file that referenced the following:
    <Schema Namespace="Model.Store" Alias="Self" Provider="Oracle.DataAccess.Client" ProviderManifestToken="11.2" xmlns:store="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/12/edm/EntityStoreSchemaGenerator" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2009/02/edm/ssdl">
    It seemed to be complaining that it could not fine the assembly associated with the provider. I installed the Oracle Data Provider installation package and rebuilt and it was working fine. What I wanted to know is where is this assembly. I cannot locate it on my laptop. I did see a reference regarding "Configuration File Support and Search Order for Unmanaged DLLs". It stated:
    The Oracle.DataAccess.dll searches for dependent unmanaged DLLs (such as Oracle Client) based on the following order:
    1.     Directory of the application or executable.
    2.     DllPath setting specified by application config or web.config.
    3.     DllPath setting specified by machine.config.
    4.     DllPath setting specified by the Windows Registry.
    HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE\Software\Oracle\ODP.NET\version\DllPath
    5.     Directories specified by the Windows PATH environment variable.
    I did see where the installation package modified the machine..config file. Can somebody tell me how the reference tot eh "missing" assembly is resolved?
    Thanks, Eric

    Oracle.DataAccess.dll is usually in the ODP.NET\bin folder of your Oracle installation. There's one for .net 2 and another for .net 4.
