Oracle RDB driver for java

hello.
i connect to my oracle driver using this
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
but now i have to use oracle RDB and i want to ask how that is done?
do i have to download another jar for that?
and how is the connection string done?
thanks

nope.
you're getting me all wrong
i already have ojdbc14.jar and i already connected to oracle 9iHow did you do that without knowing the connection string?
the problem is with oracle RDB jdbc
that's another different matter.What? I don't understand.
oracle rdb runs under open vms and you have to
install some other things before the rdb jar itself.I don't know about running Oracle on OpenVMS. Sorry.
and i also need the connections tring for the class.How did you "connect" without it?
I gave you a link to the docs, which should tell you what the connection string syntax is. It'll look something like this:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:1521:database%

  • Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 JDBC driver for Java 1.5 & Java 1.6

    Hi,
    Is there any JDBC driver that I can download for running Java application of version 1.5 or 1.6 on Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 ?
    As I see in the official link of Oracle: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/index.html
    The JDBC drivers for this database are only for Java 1.4 and older.
    Can any one please help?
    Thanks

    The subject is about Oracle 9.2.0.1 JDBC drivers. "Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 JDBC driver for Java 1.5 & Java 1.6"
    Oracle database 9.2.0 drivers may only be used with JDK 1.4 or earlier.
    But, Oracle database 9.2.0 may be used with Oracle database 11 drivers with JDK 5.0, 6.0.

  • Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 2.10.11.00 on  Windows 2008 64-bit

    Hello,
    Our application runs on Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and connects to RDB databases on Alpha Open/VMS via Oracle ODBC Driver fro Rdb release 2.10.11.00.
    We are migrating to Windows Server 2008 64-bit environment.
    We tested both recent Rdb ODBC driver releases (3.3.0.0 and 3.3.1.0) but we are getting errors intermittently when the application loads data from certain tables. Trace logs show no errors which could indicate the origin of the issue.
    We want to use the old (2.10.11.00) release but it cannot be installed only on the Win 2008 32-bit version.
    Can anyone suggest how to install the Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb release 2.10.11.00 on a Windows 2008 64-bit Server?
    Thanks in advance,
    Momir

  • Oracle Rdb Driver 3.1.0.0 problem with blobs

    I am trying to convert an MsAccess application to use an MsAccess front end and an Oracle Rdb back end.
    I've created the test database under VMS and can successfully link to the Oracle Rdb tables from MSAccess 2000. One of the main reasons for converting to Oracle Rdb is to be able to store large word documents in the database. I was able to do that using Oracle rdb Driver v 3.00.02.06. I recently converted to Oracle Rdb Driver version 3.1.0.0 and can no longer access the Blob field containing the Word document. MsAccess now sees this field as type ‘Binary’ and I keep getting an ‘invalid field type’ error. (with 3.00.02.06 this field was seen by MsAccess as an ‘Ole Object’ and the getchunk and appendchunk functions for getting and saving a blob worked reasonably well).
    Is this a bug in 3.1.0.0 or is there some way to get MsAccess to recognize this Binary field type?

    I suspect you'll need to contact Oracle support on this. There aren't, to my knowledge, any RDB folks around here.

  • Oracle RDB driver – Version 3.01.00.01 Connectivity Issue

    I have a SQL Server 2000 extended stored procedure connecting to an Oracle RDB data server via an ODBC connection (using Oracle RDB driver – Version 3.01.00.01). The SQL Server 2000 runs on a Windows 2000 Server.
    This extended stored procedure opens up multiple database connections and maintains them for processing. Usually, everything runs fine.
    However, every so often, we have connectivity issues. What happens is as follows:
    When we bring a station down and then try to reconnnect, our connection is denied, and we get the error: "recv() unexpected close Ret 0 Err#0 UNKNOWN Unknown WINSOCK Error 0". (This error is logged by the .dll running in the SQL Server processing space.) From the first time we receive a connectivity error like this until the Oracle RDB box is rebooted, we cannot establish another new ODBC connection to that Oracle RDB box --- whether we are trying to establish it programmatically or just via a "test connection" in the ODBC dialogue on the SQL Server box.
    We can, however, establish an ODBC connection to another, identically configured, Oracle RDB box from the SQL Server box (without restarting the SQL Server box).
    Has anyone had experience with instable connections from Windows system using the Oracle RDB driver to connect to the Oracle RDB? If not, can anyone point me in a direction that would help me research this? I am more familiar with SQL Server than Oracle, and the Oracle DBA on the other end isn't very accessible.
    I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give me.
    Thanks!

    I got same error.. Are you already solve that problem? how? please help me. Thanks

  • Oracle RDB Driver fails with JDBC/ODBC Bridge

    Has anyone experienced problems using the latest Oracle RDB
    Driver (3.0.2.0) with the JDBC/ODBC Bridge.
    We have been using the Oracle ODBC Driver for RDB (2.10.17)
    successfully on NT, but it is not supported on W2K. The new
    drivers work fine for Access etc., but fail with the bridge.
    Specifically, you can step thru a result set, but getObject()
    returns null for all fields.
    Any suggestions?

  • Specifying "ARRAYSIZE" in Oracle ODBC Driver for 7.3.4

    Other vendors provide this facility when creating the data source using ODBC administrator.

  • How to set oracle thin driver for jdbc2.0 in WLS6.1?

    I want to use oracle thin driver for jdbc2.0 in WLS6.1.
    I just set it like what it look in jdbc1.2.

    Hi Andy,
    You can not cast a connection returned from datasource
    to oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection as it's a kind of an RMI
    stub thus has nothing to do with oracle. Could you tell us
    what you're going to acomplish? We'll try to offer a solution.

  • ORACLE XML PARSER FOR JAVA FOR AIX

    Hi people!
    I'm looking for the Oracle XML Parser for Java 9.0.2.0.0C, my 9iAS is BI Installation 9.0.2.3, where can I get it? In the Downloads Section there is only the version for 10g, and the existing versions for 9i are not for AIX (my OS is AIX 5.2L).
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your help, I navigate through this link and, even it shows a table where appears the release for AIX (9.2.0.6.0), when I get to http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdk/software/prod/utilsoft_java.htm
    it shows me only downloads for Sun, Linux and HP-UX, but not for AIX.
    Has the version for AIX being deprecated or something like that?

  • MS SQL2000 Driver for JAVA

    Does anyone use MSSQL2000 Driver for JAVA?
    I wrote a store procedure which returns multiple resultset. And I wrote a program to retrive all resultsets from it. It works fine with JDBC/ODBC Bridge Driver. But i got problem with MSSQL2000 Driver by using the same program. It said no resultset was produced. I found that problem only existed with store procedure returning multiple resultset, otherwise it works fine as JDBC/ODBC Bridge Driver does.
    Anyone know what the problem i got? Or MSSQL2000 Driver cannot support Multiple Resultset? But i think it should be good enough to support it, as it is a type 4 Native Driver!
    Thank you very much

    hi
    i am working with SQL server 7.0...
    in it one connection can have only one resultset.More than one resultset gives error as connection in use.thats the reason when u call ur stored procedure in java...multiple resultset in one connection dont work.
    for eg
    connection1
    st1 = sonnection1.createStatement();
    Resultset rs =st1. .....
    rs.close();
    rs = ......
    works fine..
    but !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
    connection1
    Resultset rs = st.
    while(rs.next())
    st2 = sonnection1.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs1 = st2......
    rs2.close()..
    rs.close();
    does not work for java using sql server
    try using connection pooling....

  • Oracle XML Parser for Java

    Does the latest release of the Oracle XML Parser for Java support JDK 1.2.2?
    I have an application which makes use of the XML Parser which runs fine with JDK 1.1.7.
    But the application crashes with the use of JDK 1.2.2 .
    Any insight into this is appreciated.

    The Oracle XSQL Servlet makes extensive use of the Oracle XML Parser for Java V2 as well as its XSLT Engine and runs without issue under 1.1.8 and 1.2.2.

  • Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i

    Guys, I applied ATG.PF.H.RUP4. In postinstall steps it is mentioned,Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i(doc-271148.1)
    which says after applying patch 4038964 do the following--
    AUTOCONFIG ENABLED APPLICATIONS ENVIRONMENT
    If the Oracle E-Business Suite configuration files are maintained using the AutoConfig infrastructure, proceed with the following:
    1. Run the AutoConfig utility.
    2. Go to [JAVA_TOP].
    3. Run the unzip -l appsborg2.zip | grep 9.0.4 command. If there is a file named as .xdkjava_version_9.0.4.0.0_production, which indicates that XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 is installed correctly as part of appsborg2.zip. Otherwise, run ADAdmin to regenerate the appsborg2.zip file.
    4. Restart the application tier server processes such that the new version of Oracle XML Parser for Java will take effect.
    but actually the patch is already applied- 4038964. How do i verify if i need to do these steps or not.
    The xmlparserv2-904.zip file is already there in wrapper.classpath. of jserv.properties, forms.properties. So i think i dont need to do these steps.

    unzip -l appsborg2.zip | grep 9.0.4
    0 04-18-03 20:10 .xdkjava_version_9.0.4.0.0_production
    do i still need to do that step?No, you do not have to since "XML Parser for Java v9.0.4" is already installed as part of appsborg2.zip
