Oracle Report in Apex

Dear all,
I have existing jsp report that was developed with Oracle Report. Is it possible to reuse the report in Apex?. If so how? Thanks.

Hello,
You could call the url to the report from within an iframe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFrame
You create an HTML region and in that region you put the code for the iframe with the url to your jsp report.

But in the step of 'Create the Oracle HTML DB Application', 'OE' doesn't appear in the LOV of Existing Schema, even though the sample schema exists in the schema and they are unlocked. I know your following the tutorial, but if you want to call oracle reports from apex it is quite easy though if your working with oracle reports 9i or higher. Just create an html region and put in the source the html code for referencing an url like to_report
Or reference the same url from a button placed on the HTML region
(you can create a package that would create the whole URL and returns it as a string, easier for scalability)
Hope this can help you to (tutorial is good but try and learn from scratch is also good ;-) )

the how-to is still valid for APEX 3.0. Calling an Oracle Report from APEX is still the same, it's basically the URL you build for the report call and Oracle Reports hasn't changed that format.

How to open new window and generate oracle report from apex

Hi,
I had created an application that generates PDF files using Oracle Reports, following this Guide.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_integrate_oracle_reports.html
And I followed 'Advanced Technique', so that users can't generate PDF file by changing URL and parameters. This is done for security reasons.
But in this tutorial, when 'Go' button is pressed, the PDF file is displayed on the same window of apex application. If so, user might close the window by mistake. In order to avoid this, another window have to be opened.
So, I put this code in the BRANCH - URL Target. (Note that this is not in Optional URL Redirect in the button property, but the branch which is called by the button.)

But if the button is pressed, I get this error.
ERR-1777: Page 2100 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.
Restart Application
If I put the code 'javascritpt ....' in the Optional URL Redirect, another window opens successfully, but the Process to generate report job is not executed.
Does anyone know how to open new window from the Branch in this case?

Try putting your javascript into your plsql process using the htp.p(); procedure.
For example, something along these lines should do it:
BEGIN

htp.p('</script>');
END;
What happens is the javascript is browser based whereas your plsql process is server based and so if you put the javascript into your button item Optional URL Redirect it is executed prior to getting to the page plsql process and therefore it will never execute the process. When you have it in your branch which normally follows the processes, control has been handed to the server and the javascript cannot be executed and so your page throws the error "Page 2100 provided no page to branch to"... By "seeding" the plsql process with the embedded javascript in the htp.p() procedure you can achieve the desired result. You could also have it as a separate process also as long as it is sequenced correctly to follow your other process.

I have a button named 'Run Report' on a APEX application page. When I press this button it open an oracle report in pdf format but in same window.
Can someone help me to open this .pdf report in seprate window when I press this button.

Conver rdf file to the report in apex

I have to migrate my report from rdf to apex... Is there any way to do it...
Thought of doing converion to xml in middle. But perhaps, the form2xml doesn't accepts this xml file...

There is no equivalent in the APEX environment.
Classic/Interactive reports use SQL to generate a web page.
BI Publisher could be used as an alternative reporting mechanism to generate PDF/office documents, but there is no reason why you couldn't call Oracle Reports from APEX - if you retain your application server, of course.

The report is on a different data base ... need to create a process to get the data into the view behind the report and then materialized view in Apex etc .Then recreate the same report in Apex. But I am trying use the disc report url to invoke the report directly from apex.
Any suggestions or thoughts are greatly aprreciated.

Create PDF report with APEX and Oracle 11g doesn't work

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the downloading of PDF reports from APEX with Oracle 11g.
When I try to download a PDF, Acrobat Reader says it can not open the file.
I have done the same test in an environment with APEX and Oracle 10g and it works perfectly.
Does anyone know if there is a known bug for version 11g.

I open the generated file the Notepad++ I can read the next message:

Can I use Oracle Report Server to print from APEX? How?

Hello, we have Oracle Application server, Oracle Report server and now we just installed APEX and doing a pilot project. Since we don't have BI Publisher, how can we use our Oracle Report server to print from apex report? Can it be done and if yes where can I get some detail info that I can share with our DBA?
I have in past asked questions about the printing issues but I have been refered to http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html#01 section 5 which talks about another installation.

You can use FOP, but the formatting of the xsl (Xml Style Sheets) takes a little work. If you have the Oracle Reports server up and access to the development product, why not go that route?
You want the filtering and sorting and searching, yes, but then you also want to print them out.. Then you would probably be best looking at replacing the Oracle Reports setup with BI Publisher. You can convert Most your reports over to bi publisher layouts easily.. (I have heard of some reports that do require recreating in Bi Publisher from Oracle Reports..)
Then you can have your Apex Reports and call Bi Publisher from APEX and everyone wins..
Is your Oracle Reports stuff used by non-APEX applications, that could be modified to use Bi Publisher?

Interactive report with apex 3.2 oracle 11g

i am using interactive reports using apex where the query is a outer join. In the interactive rport i am using collections frame work. apex_collection.create_collection_from_query_b
I am getting the following error ..
ORA-04030 OUT OF PROCESS MEMORY WHEN TRYING TO ALLOCATE 16328 BYTES

Are you saying the you are creating a collection using the create_collection_from_query_b API and then using the select c001,c002,.. from apex_collections in the Query of the IR?
Is the creation of the collection failing (process) or the collection is getting created and you are getting the error when region tries to render the report?

Using oracle text in apex report search

I am trying to use oracle text in apex, integrating it in an existing application. The idea is that it will allow to do a search in bigger textfields. Thats how I want it to get to work. In one of the oracle packaged applications oracle text is used as well, so I will have a look to that as well. I've addapted this search. I've added
AND t. contains(oplossing, :P15_OPLOSSING)

That didn't work, so I changed those two to:

I have worked it further out now, and looked at the search of the packaged application. It turned out to be a pl/sql block . I used what I found in there to adapt the previous search. I added the following:

oplossing means solution
sleutelwoorden means keywords

Yet this doesn't work yet. It gives an error message:
failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-01719: outer join operator (+) not allowed in operand of OR or IN
I've tried adding the addition in a different place, yet that gives the same error message. I'm not sure now.

Call BI Publisher Report in APEX, based on R.T.F Template Layout.

Hi to all respected members of this forum.
Since 18th May (Saturday), I am trying to connect BI Publisher Reports with Oracle Application Express 4.2.2.
My APEX Version = APEX 4.2.2
Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise Edition (Trial) = 11.1.1.6.0
Oracle BI Publisher Desktop 32 Bit = 11.117.0.79
For this purpose what I did?
Firstly I downloaded Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise Edition 11.7 and when I started Installation I came to know that "R.C.U (Repository Creation Utility)" is required during installation and I don't have that so, left this idea.
Than I downloaded Oracle BI Publisher Enterprise Edition (Trial) from www.oracle.com and BI Publisher Desktop Edition for Templates because there is no facility in BI Publisher Trial Edition to design Report Templates. I have installed both successfully and created a report as per my requirement.
Now, I want to call that report in Oracle APEX but I am unable to do that.
I followed http://dgielis.blogspot.de/2007/12/call-bi-publisher-report-from-apex.html but the link which is shown in picture no: 03, is not available, so this didn't help me.
Then, I followed Oracle BI Publisher Blog https://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/entry/apex_users_why_not_integrate_w which discuss to call BI Publisher Report in APEX based on "Generic Report Layout". This done successfully but still I am unable to call BI Publisher Report .
Then I found this type of script

to call BI Publisher Report in APEX but this also failed.
Please help me to understand that how to call "BI Publisher Report in APEX, based on R.T.F Template Layout.

Are you trying to have multiple sql queries and have multiple sections displaying different data sets ? Or with one single query but display it in different ways in a single report ?
You can create one single query as Report Query in APEX and associate it with a BIP report layout. So you can achieve a Dashboard layout with the report query/layout.

Oracle Report in New window with submit

Hello, I'm in urgent need of an example on how submit a page and open a Oracle Report in a new window. I've searched the forum and found similiar threads, but not exactly what I need. Basically, I have an html page with cascading LOVs in which the user can cascade down until they get to the report (oracle report) they will like to generate. I'm using Patrick's ApexLib for my cascading LOVs. The user can also pick a date range via a Date Picker. I need the page to submit so that paramters from the LOVs and Date Picker can be passed to the Oracle Report. The Oracle Report needs to open in a new window. Currently I'm using a button item using a branch which runs the report fine, but it comes up in the same page. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to accomplish this? Hi Lou,
you don't have to submit the page. If you have all the values on your page in HTML input fields you are fine. You would only submit it if you want to do some additional processing on the server to calculate values, ...
So just create a button with "Redirect URL without submitting page",
set "Target is a" to "URL" and use the following code in the "URL Target" property.
javascript:popupURL('http://your_oracle_report_url/regionid='+$x('P4_REGION_ID').value+'city='+$x('P4_CITY').value);The $x('some_page_item').value is used in JavaScript to reference the current value of an HTML field. Use the same identifier as you have used for your item in APEX.

HTML DB call Oracle Report and Print

I have a PRING button on the HTML DB report. When the user click on this PRINT button it launches the oracle report location Portal Server in UNIX box. The report display in Lanscape format as I set it up. However, when I go to File/Print and click print. It print inf Portral. I tried depressly to make it print on page in lanscape format, but I was not success. Pleas help.

This isn't really an APEX question and it's not that clear what you're wanting to acheive.
However, have you tried choosing the landscape print format on your printer preferences via the File -> Print dialog?
