Oracle Rules - OC4J DeployerException

Hi,
I try to install the Oracle Rules (beta). I follow the steps decribed by the 'Rule Author Install Guide'.
I deployed successfully the ruleauthor.ear / rulehelp.ear files (steps 2 & 3).
When I try to bind the deployed application to context (step 4), I have the following error:
java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost:23791 admin welcome -bindWebApp ruleauthor ruleauthor http-web-site ruleauthor
Error: bindWebApp() failed!; nested exception is:
     oracle.oc4j.admin.internal.DeployerException: Web module ruleauthor does not exist in application ruleauthor
In advance, thanks for your help.
Have a great day,
Cyryl

Hi,
Sorry for the delay but I was in holidays ....
No chance ... I can not remember what I did to solve the problem. I just know it was very simple (environment ... ) ..
I hope anyone can help you.
Have a great day,

  • Help needed in using oracle rules SDK

    Hi,
    For testing my rulesets using oracle rules SDK I doing the following:
    1. Creation of dictionary, ruleSet.
    2. Declared two kinds of globalVariable variables in my datamodel :
    Final and non-Final.(Type of these varaibles are String and Double only)
    3. Final globalVaraibles are used in creating rule's patterns.
    4. Non-Final globalVariables are used in creating rule's action.
    5. Functions are created for asserting globalVariables values and
    returning non-final varaibles, since those are required as action
    results.
    6. In java code I am testing my ruleset (dict.testRuleSet()). Before
    testing i am populating my final global variables (since these are used
    in rule's patterns),
    and updating datamodel.
    The above procedure is working fine and I rules are successfully working.
    Now, first of all i want to know if the above mentioned approach is correct or it needs to be reframed??
    secondly, when i update datamodel with values (in java code itself) it
    takes 4-5 seconds in updating it. This is the main issue that why it is
    taking this much time??
    any comment would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance.

    I will send up an alert for you, Colin. Even though I use iTunes for Mac, troubleshooting it isn't my forté.

  • Performance Issue in using Oracle Rules SDK!!!!

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle rules SDK. I have created a dictionary and declared 9 global variables in it. Now, before testing my ruleset in my code, I populate those variables and update datamodel.
    Date startDate = new Date();
    try
    this.dataModel.update();
    *}catch (Exception e) {*
    e.printStackTrace();
    Date endDate = new Date();
    long duration = endDate.getTime() - startDate.getTime();
    System.out.println("Time Taken : "+duration);
    Now the issue is that time taken by dataModel.update() is freaking 4210 milliseconds, i.e 4.2 seconds. Any idea why this is slow??
    oracle.rules.sdk.editor.datamodel.DataModel = new DataModel(ruleDictionary);

    When your query takes too long ...
    Thanks,
    Karthick.

  • How to use complex function as condition in Oracle Rule Decision Table?

    How to use complex function as condition in Oracle Rule Decision Table?
    We want to compare an incoming date range with the date defined in the rules. This date comparison is based on the input date in the fact & the date as defined for each rule. Can this be done in a decision table?

    I see a couple of problems here.
    First, what you posted below is not a syntactically valid query. It seems to be part of a larger query, specifically, this looks to be only the GROUP BY clause of a query.

As you discovered, if you attempt to do so, you'll find it doesn't work. If you stop and think about how SQL is processed, it should make sense to you why the SQL is not valid.
    If you want to apply a filter condition such as:
    trunc(max(RD.DATERECEIVED)) BETWEEN TO_DATE('01/08/2011','DD/MM/YYYY') AND TO_DATE('01/08/2011','DD/MM/YYYY')you should do it in a HAVING clause, not a where clause:

  • Oracle Rules: Adding Java Facts - not showing up in list.

    I am having trouble with adding my own Java classes to the Java Facts. I find the class in the list of classes, tick it, and hit "Ok". When I come back to the list of Java Facts, the class has not been added to the list. And no error message is displayed.
    I am able to add default classes under packages java, javax and org.
    My Java-classes are located here: ...\MyProject\SCA-INF\classes\packageName
    The .rules-file is located here: ...\MyProject\oracle\rules\packageName
    What can be the reason for this?

    I just had a similar issue and I ended having to manually clean up the registry to get Java working again.
    I just got a new computer at work and it had Java 7 installed but it turns out an app we need to use at work doesn't work with Java 7, only Java 6.
    I uninstalled Java 7 and installed Java 6 but Firefox was not showing the Java plugin as installed. I tried all sorts of things, including uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox and none of it worked. Finally I again uninstalled Java and then I searched for "Java" in the registry and found TONS of entries still in there for Java, including for Java 7. I manually deleted all the entries (WARNING: this is extremely risky) rebooted, then installed Java 6 and now it's working fine.
    I really hate it when uninstallers leave stuff behind. It just makes a mess.

  • Oracle Rules Manager vs Oracle Business Rules

    Hi
    Can someone explain the difference between Oracle Rules Manager and Oracle Business Rules.
    Is Oracle Promoting both the products?
    What I understand is that Oracle Rules Manager comes a part of the Oracle Database 10g R2 (and 11g) and Oracle Business Rules is a part of the SOA suite.
    Is there any difference in the positioning of both these products?
    Our client is evaluating various Rules engines in the market and we want to make sure that we choose the correct product.
    Thanks, Srini

    He solves the same problem with rules and without. My question was what would be better? Why would you chose one over the other. I prefer rules that is easy to state, easy to read, and easy to implement. Clear text rules in Prolog being a firm favourite. :-)
    Using a rules engine, with a fairly complex API, in order to define rules? I would want very sound and very robust justification for that.
    Taking this EMP table example. If there is a single AddEmp() PL/SQL procedure interface for adding employees, it is simple matter to see what it does, how it does that, and test and debug that. The only knowledge needed is the ability to read and understand the source code. The same cannot be said of rules engines.
    As for the issue of updating AddEmp() with new rules. Edition redefinition takes care of versioning database objects. And in a far more controlled fashion than dealing with a rules engine that is dynamically update now! while the database is in use - and you have no real idea or real control over when exactly now! was.

  • Importing the class in Oracle Rules Author Definitions

    I created the Dictionary in the Oracle Rules Author.
    In the Definitions Page I selected the java fact type.
    In the User Classpath i gave the class path of the files.
    Then i have to import my class in the Rules Repository.
    I am getting the following error.
    Cannot perform operation. RUL-01527: Received exception for loadClass. RUL-01016: Cannot load Java class example3.Retiree. Please make sure the class and all its dependent classes are either in the class path, or user specified path. Root Cause: example3/Retiree (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
    Can any one respond to this query please...

    You have to do like the others import. You have to put import and the complete path(with all the packages).
    For example:
    import mypackage.msgsend;
    and if you wouls like to import all the classes of a package use:
    import mypackage.*;

  • Expression Builder In Oracle Rule Authoe

    Hi,
    I am using expression builder for making this kind of expression:
    x = y* (new Double(.02))
    where x and y are Double.
    after inserting the variables and operator, validation always fails showing the following message:
    Cannot perform operation. 'RUL-01726: Data type operator for *, at position 10: java.lang.Double * java.lang.Double '
    Please tell me where i am going wrong. It's very urgent.

    Thanks for the reply Phil.
    I think that when I am updating datamodel, it is updating every thing in data model i.e. variables, constraints, functions, facts everything.
    Do you have knowledge of any method in the API which updates only variables??
    Also, i followed a different methodolgy be using RuleSession. have a look at code snippet:
    String rsrl ;
    * Double testValue = 6000.0;*
    * Double discount = new Double(0);*
    * try {*
    * rsrl = dict.ruleSetRL( ruleSetName );*
    * String dmrl = dict.dataModelRL();*
    * RuleSession session = new RuleSession();*
    * session.executeRuleset( dmrl );*
    * session.executeRuleset( rsrl );*
    * discount = (Double)session.callFunctionWithArgument("DM.calculateDiscount",testValue);*
    * System.out.println(" Discount "+discount);*
    * } catch (Exception e) {*
    * e.printStackTrace();*
    Here instead of updating dataModel i am executing ruleSet using session and callingFunction to calculate discount.
    Now if disocunt is populated independent of any other vairable (e.g. discount = 10.0d instead of discount = 10.0*salesValue)
    then it should work. But if discount is dependent on some variable (which has to be global Variable) then it would not populate it.
    This is what i have thought.
    But the above code snippets always give following exception :
    oracle.rules.rl.exceptions.InvocationException: wrong argument type in function or method invocation
    even when function takes arguments in my dictionary.
    Your help is much awaited!! Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle Rules and 11g

    We are currently developing a major rules project using Oracle Rules. I notice from the 11g Preview release that Oracle Rules seems to have dissapeared as a seperate component - and has been embedded into BPEL. Can anyone share with me the roadmap for Oracle Rules - is it yet another dead Oracle component, I hope not as we are sinking significant effort into its use.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Business rules integration is very much present in 11g. In fact, business rule component can be added to a composite and a corresponding rules dictionary can be modeled using the rules editor that's part of JDev. This feature is not available in this tech preview though.

    Does anyone know if there is a bug in oc4j 9.0.4? Both apps work fine in both tomcat 4.x and in the latest early access release of oc4j (EA R3).

    typically this is because a context listener is not setup in your web.xml.[JSF README]
    * Some web containers don't follow the Servlet 2.3 Spec rule of calling
    ServletContextListeners listeners defined in tld files in the META-INF
    directory of a jar. Running a faces webapp in such a container
    requires you to manually declare the ServletContextListener. The
    listener-class you need to specify is
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    [Jacob Hookom of Facelet]
    If you would like to use JSF 1.2 with Resin: oc4j for that matter ...
    1. Delete the TLD files from the jsf-imp.jar!/meta-inf
    2. Specify at context-listener in your web.xml for:
    com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
    As you see, both say a same thing.

    - 11g Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.3.0 64bit Prod

    - ORA-38441: System could not derive the list of STORED and INDEXED attributes
    When I create rule class on my development environment, with the same script, everything works fine, my configuration is this:
    - 11g Standard Edition 11.2.0.2.0 64bit Prod
    Any ideas??

  • Oc4j starting with Oracle Database & oc4j App Server on same machine

    Hi ALL, can anybody help me(pls read this)
    This is Sagar, i have created a GIS Application(java) using Oracle 10g.
    Senario I:
    oc4j server and oracle 10g Database Server on different machines:
    When i start oc4j server with NO. OF Mappers = 64 or 30 in DNS using
    1. oc4j -start (normally)
    from the path c:/oc4j/bin by setting ORACLE_HOME path normally
    application is working fine but when users are increased say 4 to 5 oc4j server gives error:
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java Heap Space
    I searched for this error i found a solution for starting oc4j as follows:
    2.Java -Xmx1024m -Xms1024m -jar oc4j.jar
    from the path c:/oc4j/j2ee/home --- oc4j.jar
    Then map & application works fine and fast since heap space is increased to 1GB (speed is noticable)
    but if...(in other senario)
    Senario II:
    oc4j server and oracle 10g Database Server on same machine:
    if step 2: is used form above senario, oc4j Server does not gets started only it gets initialized...(server does not gets started)
    but Step 1: is used application works fine but again heap space error as mentioned above is seen.
    Again if changes are made in oc4j.cmd file in c:/oc4j/bin ....by giving the heap space command oc4j works fine but the application(performance) is very very slow but heap space error is not seen.
    Please can any body suggest the solution.. application should work fast and also the heap space should be increased but taking the senario - oc4j App Server & Oracle 10g Database Server on Same machine..

    Hello,
    How much RAM do you have on the machine? What is the size of the SGA for the database you are using?
    if step 2: is used form above senario, oc4j Server does not gets started only it gets >initialized...(server does not gets started)What do you mean by this? Provide the output from the server when you start your server.

  • Oracle Rule Author(Oracle Business Rules)

    Hi,
    Iam implementing Oracle Business Rules, while configuring rules with Rule Author, a problem is faced, a variable data which is set in one rule's action is not available to next rule's condition.
    i.e a variable set in one rule can not be used in other rule as condition.
    Is there any option to make it work,
    thanks & regards.
