Oracle text component

Hi all!
How to install Oracle text component (Oracle text) on Oracle 9.2.0.7 database ?
Thanks,
Roman

Hi Ivan!
I have not ctxsys user and ctxsys packages becuase
Oracle 9.0.2.7 patch do not support Oracle text
component.
I do not think you checked Ivan's suggestion above well. That is supposed to create it. However, I think the file is ctxsys.sql. But check it first and read in the Oracle text documentation

  • Installing Oracle TEXT and XML DB Components on New Instance

I was told this may be the best place to ask my quesion
I have set up a New Instance or Oracle on a Solaris Unix box that already had Oracle 10g installed.
The instance was created fine, however I need the Oracle Text Component and XML DB Component installed as well.
Those are not installed with this instance. They are installed on the other instance on the box that was setup when oracle was first installed.
How can I add these components to this new instance?
DBCA was not used when the instance was created. The DBA here does not care for this tool.
    Thanks

    Hi,
the installation of XMLDB is described in the XML manual: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/appaman.htm#sthref2372
the installation of Text is described on Metalink in document 280713.1.
A nice document to start is on Metalink, it is document 472937.1. It gives Oracle components and the links how to install the components on different versions of Oracle.

  • Using Oracle Text for searching with UCM 10g

I am using Oracle text with UCM 10gR3 and Site Studio 10gR4 and I am trying to sort the search results by relevancy and to also include a snippet of the retrieved document. I have the fields that the SS_GET_SEARCH_RESULTS service returns but the relevancy score is always equals 5 and the snippet contains characters such as < idcnull, /p, etc., which you can see are XML/HTML/UCM tags but which result sin even more strangeness in the snippet if I try to remove them programmatically.
I have read the Oracle Text documentation and there appear to be ways you can configure Oracle Text but I am not clear at all on what I can do from UCM. It looks like the configuration is either done in database tables or in the query itself, neither of which are readily configurable to me.
Is anyone experienced in this or know of any documentation this might help?
    Bill

    Hi
If I remember correctly then this issue was seen with an older version of OTS component and Core Update patch / bundle . Upgrade the UCM instance with the latest CS10gr35 update bundle patchset 6907073 and also upgrade OTS component from the same patchset .
Let me know how it goes after this .
    Thanks

  • How to configure what is displayed in srfDocSnippet (Oracle Text Search)?

I am using UCM 10gR3 with SiteStudio 10gR4. I installed the Oracle Text Search component and it is working well. One of the requirements for a search results page is the specific layout of the data displayed. srfDocSnippet returns a really ugly display if the search result return is just metadata. I didn't find any documentation in UCM on how to configure this display.
How to you configure what is displayed in srfDocSnippet?

  • Oracle text query

    Hi,
I have a View object with various attributes (eg, name1, name2, name3, address1, address2, address3 etc). A query/table component based on this view object works just fine. However, I wish to replace name1, name2, name3 and other attributes in the query with just 'name'. These attributes are still to be shown in the result table. This new 'name' attribute will be used in an Oracle Text query clause, instead of individual searches on each attribute.
My plan was to simply make the various name1, name2 etc attributes non-'queryable' in the View def to hide them from the query. Then I'd add a transient 'name' attribute. My hope was, that I could override the getWhereClause() in the ViewObjectImpl and simply tack on the oracle text clause to the WHERE (example below):
    WHERE CONTAINS (
    SOMECOLUMN,
                '<query>
       <textquery lang="ENGLISH" grammar="CONTEXT">TRANSIENT_ATTR_VALUE
..... Oracle Text query grammar stuff here ....  </query>') > 0How do I access the transient value in the ViewObjectImpl to add the above SQL? Or am I going about this in completely the wrong way?
    thanks,
    Barry.

Based on what I found in

I have the following implementation, which seems to work. Does anyone see any problems with this?
With regard to SQL injection, does ViewCriteriaItem sanitise the 'val' from the query, or should I do that manually here myself?
        @Override
        public java.lang.String getCriteriaItemClause(ViewCriteriaItem vci) {

  • Oracle text (basic question about availability)

    Dear sirs,
I want to confirm what I think to be true:
Oracle text is standard/builit in component of Oracle 11g (enterprise edition). Anybody who is licensed
to use Oracle 11g (enterprise edition) should be licensed to use Oracle text and have access to this product.

    Hi,
yes it is true. But all the editions of the Oracle Database have Oracle Text and you may use it if you licensed the database.

  • Oracle Text Search for UCM on Standard One

I'm curious if OracleTextSearch Component for UCM would work with 11g Standard One (or if there are any limitations running UCM with Standard One). Any experiences out there - as this would be for primarily smaller instances?

As far as I can tell, that component exposes some of the functionality of Oracle Text 11g.
Looking at this feature comparison set here:
    http://www.oracle.com/database/product_editions.html
It looks like the Standard Edition includes Oracle Text.
Having said that, i've used Oracle Database 11g Standard as a development platform for a while. I would think that would be just fine, considering the small amount of information supplied about your particular implemetnation, metrics baselines, etc.

  • Oracle Text indexation problem

    Hello all,
we recently migrate one of our database from oracle 10.2.0.2 to an Oracle 10.2.0.4, and since then, Oracle Text indexer engine is unable to work properly.
Indexing datas systematically result in the following error :
    DRG-50857: oracle error in dreii0fsh
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 106:
PLS-00302: component 'S_MODE' must be declared
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 10:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
Note that datas that were indexed with the previous version of Oracle can still be found with "Select... where contains...", though new datas can't be indexed at all.
Can anybody help me with this issue ?

    See on metalink:
'DRG-50857: oracle error in dreii0fsh' when creating TEXT index [ID 750898.1]
It seems you upgraded the binaries, but not Oracle Text itself.

  • Error when attempting to add Oracle Text using DBCA

    Hi all -
I'm trying to add Oracle Text to my 10gR1 database using DBCA. The Oracle Text option is available, but when I attempt to add it I get the error message: "A tablespace for the database option Oracle Text is not found. Cannot install this option in the database." I have a SYSAUX tablespace, which I believe is the default tablespace for Text, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. I also tried manually adding Oracle Text by running catctx.sql but received the error message:
    ERROR at line1:
ORA-39705: component 'CONTEXT' not found in registry
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 86
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_REGISTRY", line 757
    ORA-06512: at line 2
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
this looks like a half way install, I think you should try to deinstall Oracle Text and then reinstall, have a look at note 280713.1 on Oracle Support

  • Patches 7446163 y 6851110 in order to use Oracle Text from UCM

Hello, we have Oracle Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1 on AIX 6.1.0.0 (64 bits). The client want to use Oracle Text from Universal Content Management, he told me about install the patches 7446163 y 6851110 in order to enable Oracle Text from UCM. I reviewed in Metalink but the readme said that those patches are for Oracle 11.1.0.7. That version (11.2.0.1) include already those patches or those are necessary for we can use the funcionality of Oracle Text from Universal Content Management? I reviewed the components installed on database and the Oracle Text is installed and active.
    Thanks for your help.
    Sincerely,
    Ruben Nieto
    DBA

    Hi
Oracle DB usually would be installed with Oracle Text enabled (the db side) . To use the features for this we need to have OracleText component enabled on UCM which as you mentioned is already installed and enabled on the ucm server .
If both the above conditions are already met then you would not need to install any further patches.
Let me know if it is fine on db and ucm .
Verify that Oracle Text is enabled on db by executing the following query :
    select comp_name, status from dba_registry;
It should return the the following result : Oracle Text VALID
To verify if the component for UCM is installed then you would need to check Administration - Configuration for <instance name> - Enabled Components
    Thanks

  • InterMedia Text Component

After reviewing documentation on interMedia 8.1.7., it appears that Oracle ConText is now incorporated as the InterMedia Text component. As I read the interMedia documentation there is information on Audio, Video and Image and there doesn't appear to be much on the Text Component. Do I rely on previous 8.1.5 or 8.1.6 documentation or the old Oracle ConText documentation? Basically where is the best current documentation for the interMedia Text component? I will greatly appreciate an accurate response.

Oracle Text (aka interMedia Text) is part of the Oracle9i release. interMedia Text is part
    of the Oracle 8.1.x release.
The OTN web page for Text is:
    http://technet.oracle.com/products/text/
We'll be uploading 9i content very soon.

How to email text from a text component in my applet on a the host server, back to my email address ?
Assuming I have Email Form on the host server.
    Help will be appreciated.

    You can do like below
    =REPLACE(Fields!Column.Value," " & Parameters!ParameterName.value & " ","<b>" & Parameters!ParameterName.value & "</b>")
The select the expression and  right click and choose placeholder properties
Inside that set Markup type as HTML
then it will highlight the passed parameter value in bold within the full xml string

  • How do I get Oracle Text to index files on a file server?

I am new to Oracle (I'm a MS-SQL DBA looking for a Full-Text Search solution that is better than linking to a MS index server.)
    So - Here's the objective:
I have Oracle Server(Express) installed on a Windows server.
I would like for Oracle to build a Full-Text Catalog of the files on a separate file server based on file paths in a table in the database.
(No desire to store terabytes of images and documents inside the database)
I can get Oracle text up and running, using the URL_Datastore:
    CREATE TABLE files (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, issue_id NUMBER, path VARCHAR(255) UNIQUE, ot_format VARCHAR(6), ot_version VARCHAR(10));
The Compaq server is a remote windows server on my local workgroup, so the fully qualified path is just "compaq" and the URL is valid:
    INSERT INTO files VALUES (9,9,'file://Compaq/FTQ/00000003.pdf',NULL,NULL);
    INSERT INTO files VALUES (13,13,'file://Compaq/FTQ/01.txt',NULL,NULL);
CREATE INDEX file_index ON files(path) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context
    PARAMETERS ('datastore ctxsys.URL_DATASTORE format column ot_format');
    but when I enter:
Select * from CTX_User_Index_errors, I see the following errors:
DRG-11609: URL store: unable to open local file specified by file://Compaq/FTQ/00000003.pdf
DRG-11609: URL store: unable to open local file specified by file://Compaq/FTQ/01.txt
    Did I miss something?
Do I need to install anything on the file server?
I would like to convince my company that Oracle can be much quicker than Microsoft's Indexing Service because it can avoid joining two large result sets (one result set from Full_text (indexing service) and one for specific data contained in fields in the MS-SQL database.) Full Text Searches commonly take 40 - 60 seconds where there are 1.5 million multi-page PDF files for a particular set that I sample search on. Without this massive join, I believe I can get the search to run in under 10 seconds.

    Thank you!
    File_Datastore worked fine.
I was staying away from File_Datastore because the information I gathered from googling suggested that file_datastore would only work locally.
Now I just have to get Oracle to pull data out of tables in a MS-SQL database on the local network (don't have a clue yet), and then have it index compiled file paths.
Then MS-SQL can query Oracle with index and full-text criteria and Oracle can send back a result set
It may sound like a bad way of performing Full-Text Queries, but anything will be better than the way things are currently running. We are currently performing Full Text Searches on a table that is rebuilt nightly, so the table containing millions of file paths is not live..
It would be so much better if we just migrated to Oracle, but we currently do not have the resources.
