Oracle User Type Mappings

I have inherited an application system where all of the business logic takes place in the database. All of the application calls to the database interface with Functions and Stored Procedures and use Oracle User Data Types as both IN and OUT parameters. I'm working on converting the front end to use Spring w/ Hibernate and I am extending the org.springframework.jdbc.object.StoredProcedure class to interact with the database.
If I define the datasource in the Spring configuration file I am able to call getConnection().setTypeMap(Map<String, Class<?>> on the datasource and everything works fine.
However I would like to configure the datasource in JBoss and use a JNDI lookup to get a connection from the pool. When I do this, the .setTypeMap(Map<String, Class<?>> method no longer seems to work. I keep getting the exception:
java.lang.ClassCastException: oracle.sql.STRUCT cannot be cast to ............
I tried editing the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml file and adding the mappings there but that did not work.
So how can I set the Type Map for the JBoss DataSource?
JBoss 5.1
Spring 3.0
Hibernate 3.3
JDK 6
Thanks

Hi,
perhaps it's because with spring you are getting an oracle connection instead the Jboss pool is giving you different kind of connection oject.
My suggestion is to print the connection class name (i.e. getConnection().getClass().getName()) and see if they are different.
if they are different you could try with then connection unwrap method in order to get the real connection.

Giovanni

  • How to map Oracle ORDImage type, what is the JDBC-type ?

    Hello,
    I have a field in my Oracle database that has the type ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE. How can I map this in the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml file of JBOSS (in the part of the oracle 9i type-mappings)?
    The java type is "oracle.ord.im.OrdImage", but what is the jdbc-type ? Do I have to include extra oracle files in some directories of Jboss ?
    <mapping>
    <java-type>oracle.ord.im.OrdImage</java-type>
    <jdbc-type>?</jdbc-type>
    <sql-type>?</sql-type>
    </mapping>
    Thanks!!!

    I've never used JBOSS, but, could the jsbc type indicate the jdbc driver to use?
    The sql type is ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE, but I am not sure what JBOSS is looking for...

  • Issue in passing Oracle User Defined Types to PL SQL from Websphere Applica

    HI,
    I am facing an issue when trying to pass Oracle collection object(User Defined Types) from Java to PL SQL. The issue happens inside J2EE application which is running inside Websphere Application Server 6.x. My database is Oracle 10g and i am using ojdbc1.4.jar as thin driver.
    The issue is that when i pass the Oracle Object from java side, the attribute values of the collection objects at the Oracle PL SQL side is coming as empty. I have tried the same java code in a standalone application and it works fine. The issue happens only when the application is running inside WAS.
    Anybody has any idea how to pass Oracle User Defined Types from WAS 6.x server to Oracle PL SQL?

    Andy Bowes wrote:
    Hi
    I am using WebLogic 8.14 & Oracle 9i with thin JDBC driver.
    Our application needs to perform the same DB operation for every item in a Java Collection. I cannot acheive the required performance using the standard Prepare & Execute loop and so I am looking to push the whole collection to Oracle in a single invocation of a Stored Procedure and then loop on the database.
    Summary of Approach:
    In the Oracle database, we have defined a Object Type :
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    TYPE MYTYPE AS OBJECT
    TxnId VARCHAR2(40),
    Target VARCHAR2(20),
    Source VARCHAR2(20),
    Param1 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param2 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param3 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param4 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param5 VARCHAR2(2048),
    and we have defined a collection of these as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    TYPE MYTYPE_COLLECTION AS VARRAY (100) OF MYTYPE
    There is a stored procedure which takes one of these collections as an input parameter and I need to invoke these from within my code.
    I am having major problems when I attempt to get the ArrayDescriptor etc to allow me to create an Array to pass to the stored procedure. I think this is because the underlying Oracle connection is wrapped by WebLogic.
    Has anyone managed to pass an array to an Oracle Stored procedure on a pooled DB connection?
    Thanks
    AndyHi. Here's what I suggest: First please get the JDBC you want to work in a
    small standalone program that uses the Oracle thin driver directly. Once
    that works, show me the JDBC code, and I will see what translation if
    any is needed to make it work with WLS. Will your code be running in
    WebLogic, or in an external client talking to WebLogic?
    Also, have you tried the executeBatch() methods to see if you can
    get the performance you want via batches?

  • Unknown user type: oracle.jbo.domain.Date exception from time to time. How to solve?

    Hi,
    This is the first time I am using Coherence to cache some lists in my ADF Application. This is my objects configuration file:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE pof-config SYSTEM "pof-config.dtd">
    <pof-config>
        <user-type-list>
            <!-- coherence POF user types -->
            <include>coherence-pof-config.xml</include>
            <!-- com.tangosol.examples package -->
            <user-type>
                <type-id>1001</type-id>
                <class-name>package.dataproviders.TFDO1Services</class-name>
            </user-type>
            <user-type>
                <type-id>1002</type-id>
                <class-name>package.dataproviders.TFDO2Services</class-name>
            </user-type>
        </user-type-list>
        <allow-interfaces>true</allow-interfaces>
        <allow-subclasses>true</allow-subclasses>
    </pof-config>
    I have implemented the portableObject interface to each of my objects and they look like this:
        @Override
        public void readExternal(PofReader pofReader) throws IOException {
            this.tfMyList = (ArrayList<GenericRowData>) pofReader.readObject(0);
        @Override
        public void writeExternal(PofWriter pofWriter) throws IOException {
            pofWriter.writeObject(0, this.tfMyList);
    Please any help would be great!

    Hi Alejandro,
    Please note that when POF serialize collections it is somewhat lossy, in that when you deserialize the collection you may get a different collection implementation.  I.e. you're list will come out as a an implementation of java.util.List but not necessarily a java.util.ArrayList, so just cast to the List interface.  If you absolutely need a certain class impl type then you can use the readCollection method passing in the list you wish to have populated.
    thanks,

  • UDT dynamic custom type mappings

    I'm using Oracle Data Provider for .NET Release (11.1.0.6.20) in combination with .NET Framework (2.0.50727).
    As there are user defined types in the database schema, ODP.NET was chosen to connect to the Oracle database.
    The DB server contains database schemas having a similar structure and containing UDTs which are referred to from an application.
    Unfortunately, I could not dynamically determine Oracle UDTs and .NET types mappings in runtime.
    With the offered OracleCustomTypeMappingAttribute class, one can identify the name of a user-defined type using the "schema_name.type_name" format only at the level of assembly metadata.
    The application, in its turn, connects to the schema chosen by the user.
    Question: how one can define the custom type mappings during the runtime of an application?

    You can't. You have to create a new schema in each database and recreate your udt's in this new schema.
    You can do
    grant execute on <<udt_type >> to public

  • How to create a new user in OWB that can only view other user's mappings

    Hello Everyone,
    I am new to OWB and want to know if possible to create different users that can only view other user's mappings without making any changes. Do you know if possible each user can have his own password?
    Thank you for your help!
    Jennifer

    A good starting point would be this blog posting:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/entry/build_up_multi-role_development_environment_in_owb
    I seem to recall as well from the OWB Admin class that existing objects in the repository would need to have the security updated if the additional restricted roles are created after tables/mappings/etc. so that they reflect the new security model.
    Also, for individual logins to OWB, each developer would require a separate database login.

  • Accessing oracle data types of a different schema

    I am having trouble accessing the Oracle data types in a stored procedure. The owner of the stored procedures and the oracle data types is "ODSCUST". I am trying to access this using "CUSTOM" ID from my java program. Recently our DBAs have made a change in schema owners so the ID loging into the Oracle instance is not the owner of the data types or the stored procedures. The "CUSTOM" user has the grants to access all the types and stored procedures. There are also public synonymns created for the oracle data types and stored procedure.
    Here is a snipit of the code:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    String user="custom";
    String password="test";
    String database="sbpair11";
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:oracle:oci:@" + database, user, password);
    OracleCallableStatement stmt = (OracleCallableStatement)conn.prepareCall( "begin ods_cust.retrieveCustPrflData(?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?); end;" );
    stmt.setString( 1, "5592556485");
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 2, OracleTypes.STRUCT, "KSCOPEACCOUNT" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 3, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "KSCOPERSUUSOCARRAY" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 4, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "KSCOPECUTADDRARRAY" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 5, OracleTypes.STRUCT, "KSCOPECONTACT" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 6, OracleTypes.STRUCT, "KSCOPEPROFILE" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 7, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "KSCOPEEMAILARRAY" );
    stmt.executeUpdate();

    Way too little info here for a definite conclusion.
    Some thoughts:
    1.) Did you take down the database when you were moving the datafiles? If so, is this the first time the batch job is running since the move? If so, perhaps the cache is cold?
    2.) How much physical I/O is the batch job doing? Has the volume of physical I/O changed significantly after the move? What are the characteristics of the lun on which the newly mounted filesystem is built? Is it a smaller number of spindles than before?
    Ultimately, you need to profile the batch process, and determine where the most time is being consumed.

    Follow this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14309/uicust.htm#BABDEGFE
    i .Copy the $OIM_ORACLE_HOME/server/apps/oim.ear/admin.war/WEB-INF/lib/IdentityTaskFlow.jar to a local work directory, unzip it and locate UserAttributes.properties at /oracle/iam/resources/IdentityTaskFlow.
    ii. Update the userAttributes.properties file in the IdentityTaskFlow.jar/oracle/iam/resources/IdentityTaskFlow and create a new IdentityTaskFlow.jar
    iii. Copy the updated IdentityTaskFlow.jar to $OIM_ORACLE_HOME/ server/apps/oim.ear/admin.war/WEB-INF/lib/

    I guess your non-storing JAVA code does not specify -Dtangosol.pof.enabled=true and the -Dtangosol.pof.config =<POF file location> on joining the cluster. Post the startup java command and the complete logs.
    If application-cache-config is not loaded then coherence-cache-config.xml should be loaded by default and set -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=<application-cache-config>

  • Using Oracle Users in Realms and DataSource.getConnection

    Is it possible to authenticate using an Oracle User via JAASRealm and also retrieve connections specific to that user from a DataSource?
    I currently have an application which doesn't use either, but rather sets up a OracleDataSource. So basically I just want to allow the container to administer both the authentication and data source setup, while still allowing the getConnection(user,password):
    CODE
    ocpds = new OracleConnectionPoolDataSource();
    ocpds.setURL(connectionString);
    ocpds.setConnectionProperties(props);
    ods = new OracleDataSource();
    ods.setURL(connectionString);
    ods.setConnectionCachingEnabled(true);
    ods.setConnectionProperties(props);
    // Pool and Cache
    Properties poolProps = new Properties();
    poolProps.setProperty("AbandonedConnectionTimeout", "60");
    poolProps.setProperty("InactivityTimeout", "5");
    poolProps.setProperty("TimeToLiveTimeout", "60");
    poolProps.setProperty("ConnectionWaitTimeout", "60");
    ods.setConnectionCacheProperties(poolProps);
    ods.setConnectionProperties(props);
    Util.logln("Connection Cache Properties");
    cache = OracleConnectionCacheManager.getConnectionCacheManagerInstance();
    cache.createCache(cacheName, ods, poolProps);
    cache.setConnectionPoolDataSource(cacheName, ocpds);
    ........later in the BatCave (JSP or a servlet).....
    conn = (OracleConnection) ods.getConnection(username, password);
    ENDCODE
    This section from OAS Containers for J2EE Services Guide worries me:
    (from: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14012/datasrc.htm#sthref572 )
    Using Different User Names for Two Connections to a Single Data Source
    When you retrieve a connection from a DataSource object with a user name and password, this user name and password are used on all subsequent connection retrievals within the same transaction. This is true for all data source types.
    For example, suppose an application retrieves a connection from the jdbc/OracleCMTDS1 data source with the scott user name. When the application retrieves a second connection from the same data source with a different user name, such as adams, the second user name (adams) is ignored. Instead, the original user name (scott) is used.
    Thanks for reading all of this, and I appreciate any help!

    Update:
    I'm still not quite sure what to do. Where I am now:
    1. I don't know how to authenticate against Oracle database users (non-ldap) via JNDI/JAAS/whatever
    2. Proxy authentication (ALTER USER...CONNECT THROUGH...) seems to be promising for using connection pools, and in addition, once realm authentication happens, I can just pass the username and piggyback on the middletier connection without knowing the password used in authentication
    3. I'm not sure if proxy addresses the issue that OAS Containers for J2EE Services Guide talks about in the original post
    4. I'd prefer not to use OID
    Again, if you have any little information, I'd really like to hear it.

  • What is the password for 'oracle' user created during XE installation?

    Hi,
    What is the password for 'oracle' user automatically created when XE is installed?
    I installed XE on Linux and it's created under 'oracle' user, but I don't know 'oracle' password. So, I cannot stop TNS listener.
    During configuration, it prompted me to enter SYS and SYSADMIN password but it didn't ask me to enter 'oracle' user password.
    Please let me know or point me to the document.
    Thanks,
    N

    Hi Jari,
    I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work unfortunately.
    When I type (sudo su -oracle) as follows, it still prompts the password. When I hit Enter key w/o anything, it seems to proceed and the prompt shows up in the following line. So, I thought it was successful, but when I checked 'whoami', it's not logged in as 'oracle'.
    So, I created the password for 'oracle' and logged in as 'oracle' using a new password. Then, I stopped TNS listener to uninstall XE.
    It would be nice if it's documented in XE document somewhere... since it's created by XE installation, I assumed some kind of default password was used.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I included coherence-rest-pof-config.xml as part of my pof-config as shown below.
    <pof-config xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/coherence/coherence-pof-config"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/coherence/coherence-pof-config coherence-pof-config.xsd">
    <user-type-list>
    <include>coherence-pof-config.xml</include>
    <include>coherence-rest-pof-config.xml</include>
    <user-type>
    <type-id>1001</type-id>
    I also checked my coherence-rest.jar files for the configuration and the clasess, and all of them exist.
    I started my coherence by passing the classpath as below:
    $JAVAEXEC -server -Xms6g -Xmx6g -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=25 -XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=40 -XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=70 -Duser.timezone=GMT -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=xx.xx.xx.xx -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=13366 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dtangosol.coherence.log.level=3 -Dtangosol.coherence.log=log4j -showversion $JAVA_OPTS -cp $COHERENCE_HOME/config/:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/coherence.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/guidecacheclient.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jersey-server-1.8.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jersey-core-1.8.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jersey-json-1.8.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/jackson-all-1.8.1.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/coherence-rest.jar:$COHERENCE_HOME/lib/log4j-1.2.16.jar -Dtangosol.coherence.management=all -Dtangosol.coherence.management.remote=true -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=xx.xx.xx.xx -Dtangosol.coherence.mode=eval com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer $1
    While starting, I'm getting configuration missing exception as shown below. What am I still missing.

  • Oracle user password into ApEx?

    I'm not sure this is possible - but wish it was...
    Here, Oracle user's passwords are managed by an automated process and I need to get new/changed passwords (the same one) into ApEx. It would save a lot of time and effort if I can grab, massage, and then put it into wwv_flow_fnd_user's web_password, web_password_raw.
    It would be great to hear that Oracle used the same obfuscation routines for both Oracle (sql*plus) and ApEx.
    Doesn't Oracle concatonate the username with the password when creating the obfuscated password? If so, is this the case for ApEx?
    Any advice?

    Steve,
    There's an overview of some of the new features here -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/whats_new_2.2.html
    However that doesn't cover a lot of the features (you'll notice that the database authentication isn't mentioned there). The Apex 2.2 release is currently running on the public Oracle server (http://apex.oracle.com), so if you already have an account on there then you will be able to see the "Database Account Credentials" method listed in the authentication types, although obviously you won't be able to use this method on the public server.
    Hope this helps

  • Oracle User in Solaris

    Hi,
    I created oracle user in solaris . If I switch from root to oracle it's not asking the oracle user password and direcly going to $ prompt
    when I type the command who in $ promot its showing root , Why?
    $ who am i
    root ->here its should be show the oracle username
    If i switch the user again i.e su - oracle now its asking password and still shoing root for who am i command
    $su - oracle
    password:
    $ who am i
    root
    Can any one tell why its behaving like this?

  • User Default Mappings attribute "role" with condition "OR"

    Hello,
    we are using GRC 5.3 SP 8.1.
    User default mappings with more than one "role" attribute and the condition "OR" don't seem to work. After provisioning no user parameters have changed in backend system. When I configure only one "role" with the condition "AND" everything works fine, request types are the same.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Manuel

    Hallo Sirish,
    thanks for this helpful answer.
    In the note it says: "After upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3 SP08.1, the user defaults were not provisioned."
    So this error only occurs when upgraded from 5.2 to 5.3 SP8.1 or is it a gnerally bug in SP 8.1?
    I configured some new conditions in our test system and it worked. So in my opinion only the old configured user default mappings don't work because of the upgrade (???). I'm a little bit confused...

    Manuel Kunkel
