thanks in advance

If the column data is too long then it can't come in one line, if the data string is short (lets say 3-6 chars) then you can try to reduce the column length to fix it in one page. But if you want to make it permanent then you need to modify the columns and reduce the character length. But this could be a problem if the future data will have more characters.
What I suggest is to retrieve the required columns

  • ORACLE 8 - Export - Import

    Hi Experts,
I want to do an export - import of my Oracle DB. As I understand this could reduce my DB size.
    What method do you suggest?
Can I use SAPINST 7.00 for the export -import? my SAP is 4.5B
It´s the same SAP System ID and the same server I just want to reduce my DB size.
    Regards

    > I want to do an export - import of my Oracle DB. As I understand this could reduce my DB size.
This process is called "reorganization" and is only necessary if lots of data was deleted. Just exporting and importing doesn't do any change.
    > Can I use SAPINST 7.00 for the export -import? my SAP is 4.5B
SAPINST doesn't know about 4.5B, this is LONG gone.
Oracle 8 and 4.5B are long out of maintenance, nowadays available tools don't support such old ancient versions. You would need to do that using sapdba or write your own scripts.

  • Oracle 11G - Oracle AWR export import Query Statistics.

I have Oracle 11G, i have seen the sql statements through Historical AWR option from Top Activites in performance tab. Can i export all AWR query statistics from production machine so that i can analyze all logs after importing it.
How can i know all statistical sql ( information ) and performace of production machine ?
    any help ?

    Hello,
have you checked the DBA_HIST* objects to see what / how was imported?
If the awr export dosn't get the contents of the rolling buffer, then you won't see any session statistics that are only there. If you want to get the contents of the rolling buffer you have to dump the contents of it with :
    oradebug setmypid
    oradebug dump ashdump 10
and load it into your "test" database.
But before doing this I suggest you read the related metalink documentation if any!!!

  • Oracle tools export / import / SQLloader

These tools are in the \Bin but not shown in the UI. They all work so why no access?

You have access (they are there)
the UI is html/db - html/db is 100% browser based and database based. In order to use the command line tools, we'll be using the command line.
html/db does have tools to do a "load/unload" of tables for smallish sets of data.

  • Export/import in 904 versus 10.1.2

We have two 10G AS 904 installs (dev and prod - same O/S too). From time to time we move our production portal content to the dev server. We sometimes get corruption and have to use the Schema validation Utility scripts to fix the import to the dev server. Not a show stopper but this adds another manual step to the process.
I see the 10.1.2 version has improved import/export checks. Can anyone give feedback on the improvements in the export/import process?
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Kevin,
Careful with this approach. Passing from DEV to PROD is ok, but then to DEV back again, what I suggest you is that you have a clean start on DEV, ie, clean the DEV machine and later do the same to the PROD. Portal Export / Import works only in one-way and not both ways (this basically has to do with the checks we do make and with possible conflicts with the objects on both sides). Also check the available documentation... which is all compiled in Metalink Note:263995.1 - Master Note for OracleAS Portal Export / Import Issues
As to the improvement of the process, please give it a check on the New Features papers (make a find on "export" - it is easier to pick the references):-
    10.1.2 -- http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/pdf/1012_nf_paper.pdf
    10.1.4 -- http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/portal_1014_new_features.pdf
    I hope it helps...
    Cheers,

  • Oracle export/import and indexing

    Hello All,
I am a newbie in oracle filed and trying to understand export/import funtionality and indexing related to it. May be it's silly but I don't get any other way to understand it.
Below are the topics I tried to understand-
    1) I export one Db and trying to import that in another database server. I used sysdba username to import. A new table space will get created or how the data will store in database what would be the effect in indexing with this export and import.
    2) If i import one more db on the same database server using sysdba username then also how indexing will behave?
    Please help me to understand
    Thanks

Indexes are tied to tables. The default behaviour, in the absence of you specifying any directives, is that Oracle runs
    CREATE TABLE
    INSERT INTO table
    CREATE INDEX
So, the Indexes are created after each of the corresponding tables.
Do NOT ever attempt to export/import objects owned by SYSDBA. You should be creating a separate schema to hold all your objects (Tables, Indexes, Views, Procedures, Functions etc). That separate schema can be exported and imported into another database. If you have multiple such schemas, a Full Export Import will copy all the schemas.
If a schema preexists in the target database, the import will error when attempting to CREATE TABLE --- unless you specify directives to handle this.
Please read the documentation on Export and Import for the version that you are testing.

  • Homogeneous system copy using export/import on WIn/Ora

    Dear experts,
i need to know the homogeneous system copy procedure using export/import method for following scenario as we are in the process of Data center migration of SAP systemsfrom location to another location.
    Source system:
    ECC6/BI7/APO(ABAP stack)
    OS:WIndows 2003
    D:B:Oracle 10g
Target System: New hardware installed on Virtual environment(VMware)
    No change of SID
    ECC6/BI//APO
    OS:WINDOWS2008
    D:B: Oracle 11g
It would be great if anyone can share the documentu2019s/links (Not SAP homogeneous system copy guide) which you have prepared for the homog. system copy using export/import on Windows/oracle  as i have done the system copy using backup/restore for ABAP stack and export/import for Java stack so far.
Therefore i am not sure about this procedure/prerequisites/checklist needs to prepare as i have gone through the SAP guide but it is not step by step document.
    Cheers

There are two approacahes for your  project
    1) First wether to use Oracle11g on target database
    2) Continue with Database Oracle 10.2 on traget database
If you want to use Oracle11.2 on your target database you have to search the installers which are supported for 11.2 database. If the installers are available then only you can install your target database using Oracle11.2.Other wise t use Oracle10.2.0.4 is supported on Win2008r2. You can use this version of Oracle database to build ur target database. It works fine . Absolutely no problem.
Later on you can upgrade the Oracle10.2 to 11.2 Onwards.
If installers are avialble you can use Oracle11.2 also. There is absolutely no problem.
As per my knowledge installers are available and supported with Oracle11.2.Also check the PAM before arriving on any deciscion.

  • System copy using R3load ( Export / Import )

    Hi,
We are testing System copy using R3load ( Export / Import ) using our production data.
    Environment : 46C / Oracle.
while executing export, it takes more than 20 hours, for the data to get exported, we want to reduce the export time drastically. hence, we want to achieve it by scrutinizing the input parameters.
during export, there is a parameter by name splitting the *.STR and *.EXT files for R3load.
the default input for the above parameter is No, do not split STR and EXT files.
My question 1 : If we input yes instead of No and split the *.STR and *.EXT files, will the export time get reduced ?
My Question 2: If the answer is yes to Question 1, will the time reduced will be significant enough ? or how much percentage of time we can expect it to reduce, compare to a No Input.
    Best Regards
    L Raghunahth

    Hi
The time of the export depends on the size of your database (and the size of your biggest tables) and your hardware capacity.
My question 1 : If we input yes instead of No and split the *.STR and *.EXT files, will the export time get reduced ?
In case you have a few very large tables, and you have multiple cpu's and a decent disk storage, then splitting might significantly reduce the export time.
My Question 2: If the answer is yes to Question 1, will the time reduced will be significant enough ? or how much percentage of time we can expect it to reduce, compare to a No Input.
As you did not tell us about your database size and hardware details there is no way to give you anything but very basic metrics. Did you specify a parallel degree at all, was your hardware idling for 20 hrs or fully loaded already?
20 hrs for a 100gb database is very slow. It is reasonable (rather fast in my opinion)  for a 2tb database.

I know most of the steps to perform Client Copy.I have some doubhts So if some one can please help me out i would really appreciate it.
!) I want to know which user should be used to perfrom Client Export ?
    2) I want to know know which user to be used to perform Client delete?
    3) Is there any particular USER who is recommended to perform Client Copy or any USER can do it?
    4) After the Client Delete Procedure thorugh SCC5 ..to get back the client space we do Reorganization ? can anyone plzz tell me what are the tables that i need to reorganize or if anyone can provide me the steps for Reorganization i would be really thankful.
    Waiting For your Replies
    Best Regards

    Hi Mohammed,
1)I want to know which user should be used to perfrom Client Export ?
You can use your personal defined on the system UserID.
    2) I want to know know which user to be used to perform Client delete?
Same as above, just make sure you have an account on the client and you log on to the right client
    3) Is there any particular USER who is recommended to perform Client Copy or any USER can do it?
I am not aware that you should use a particular user. I have been doing copies/deletions with my UserID, as system administrator.
    4) After the Client Delete Procedure thorugh SCC5 ..to get back the client space we do Reorganization ? can anyone plzz tell me what are the tables that i need to reorganize or if anyone can provide me the steps for Reorganization i would be really thankful.
Reorganization ( I personally) use SAPDBA tool. However -if you use ORACLE, there are other alternatives as well. What is your DB  vendor? I will append more info in a bit.

  • System copy with Export/Import Distribyted system UNIX database, Windows CI

    HI
we have a distributed system witch I want to make a copy of
    Oracle Database on HP-UX
    CI + SCS on Windows
    Dual stack system  ABAP/Java
    1)  I have made an system copy with data base copy tools, and that works fine.
    2)  I have made a system copy export/import of a "central system"
If I try to make an export/import system copy on a distributed system it wont work.
( this work fine in a central system) I dont get anny error messages all gren checks marks !
It seems like the problem are in not finding the profiles from CI ?
It find the profiles for the sapgateway.
I someone are more interested I have more documentation with screen shots in a word document.
I Have used Installation Master SR3 and tryed with some older versions as well.
    I have read SAP Note 970518 - Hom./Het.System Copy SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) SR2
    SAPINST
Using virtual hosts for central and/or DB instances
    SYMPTOM:
You are using virtual host names for your central instance and/or the database instance (e.g. in a HA environment). Although SAPinst finishes successfully, some export steps are not being performed.
    SOLUTION:
Start the export with the property SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host>.
If the central instance and the database instance run on different hosts, run the database export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host name of the DB server> and - if you run a Java or ABAP+Java system - run the central instance export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host nameof the central instance host>.
If you run a central system with different host names in the profiles, handle the export as a distributed export, calling SAPinst with parameter SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME. Perform the export of the database instance on the DB server, calling SAPinst with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host of the DB server>.

Hi I have received folloving answer from SAP:
You're doing everything correct - besides one thing.
When you specify the profiles during the database export it cannot be
correct to specify the profiles of the gateway instance located on
    the same host.
As a consequence - it picks up the wrong instance G01 and sets the
property 'hasABAP' and 'hasJava' to 'false'...  - thus the export
is empty. You can see this within the corresponding 'sapinst.log' file.
The correct procedure would be to specify the profiles of the central
instance on the Windows Machine. If you cannot access them, you should
make them available by Samba or by any type of software which makes
it's possible to export filesystems or directories from windows to
    unix.
    Best regards

  • How to Export/Import specific/selected table columns (can database view be

    All,
I like to export and import some selected columns and rows of a table from one oracle database to another database.
For example, I like to export the following SQL's result data to another oracle database.
    select ename, sal from emp where dno = 100;
Can I create a database view based on the above SQL and export the view with data (I don't think data will be exported along with database view?)
I know, I can do this either with SQL*Loader or by creating DBLink between databases and using insert-select statement.
Please let me know if this is possible in exp/imp.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Hello,
You can Query and table option to export and import and i recommend you to create parameter file to use query option
    parfile.par
    file=myexport.dmp
    tables=table1,table2,table3
    query="where dno=2"
..Conventional export/import, you can also consider using datapump if you are using 10g.
    exp username/password parfile=parfile.par log=myexport.log
    imp username/password file=myexport.dmp tables=table1,table2,table3 log=myimport.logRegards

The export and import utilities do not have a method to report the time remaining to complete that I have seen.
