Order of elements in deployment.xml file

We work in a multi-developer environment, and we syncronize our java projects reqularly.
However, when one developer makes changes to the toplink project and exports a new toplink-deployment.xml, its contents can be in an entirely different order than one generated previously.
This isn't a big problem, but we often like to do "diffs" on files to see what has changed. When we are diffing on a file generated from one developer to another, it is pretty much useless.
Is there any way that the order of the exported data can be done in the same order from machine to machine?
We do refresh our entire structure from pvcs - including our *.mwp file.
Any tips?

Hi,
Yes, unfortunately, the SUN 1.6 JVM will reorder the entries of any HashMap - therfore any Java implementation that uses Maps may have a different iteration order than what was observed in the past 1.4 and 1.5 releases of the JVM. Going forward all implementationation code should be HashMap order agnostic or implement their own sort order or use an extended implementation like LinkedHashMap which maintains insertion order.
thank you

  • Deployment xml file generated in different order

    I am using Toplink Workbench 10.1.3.1.0. After making changes to mappings, the order of elements in my exported deployment xml file changes from export to export. The smallest changes to mappings - changes to queries, etc. - will cause the resulting export file to look drastically diferent from pervious version of deploymenty file. This causes quite an issue when useing a file comparision tool to audit changes bwteen versions of our deployment xml file.
    Are there any known confiruration settings that address this or is it a known bug?

    Proper school boy error here..
    Turns out it was because I had left the 'Executable Name' as the original report name and hadn't replaced it with the XDODTEXE Java Conc Program.
    Apologies for wasting peoples time..

  • How to update/change the value of elements in an xml file?

    Hi Everyone,
    Could any one of u tell me how to update the value of elements in an XML file, using java? The reason is i want to use an XML file as a data source (i.e. more or less like a database), without using any RDBMS, for simple applications such as to read a record and update the record. By the way, my XML file will have only one record, such as the current weather information, with fields such as temperature, humdity etc. for 1 city only.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here is a solution how to check a particular value or element name in an xml and update the changes e to an xml.

  • Deploying xml file alone in sun application server 8.1

    Hi all,
    I am having an xml file which should be pasted or put in sun systemapplication server 8.1. so that i could make access of the xml file alone....
    i tried it..but i couldn't deploy a xml file alone...it needs any war file or ear file to be deployed other wise it deploys the whole project....
    even after deployed xml file with a project....i couldn't get address of the separate xml file...
    this is working easily in tomcat....as i pasted the xml file in webapps folder and now i amable to retrieve the file thru server....
    how could this be done in sun server.....
    pls help me....this is very important
    Urgent plsss

    if you download SJAS 8.2, Derby is included and pre-configured as a DataSource
    Using 8.1, you will need to add the jars to either the lib or domains/domains1/lib/ext directory and manually configure a DataSource using
    javax.sql.DataSource           org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDataSource
    javax.sql.XADataSource           org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientXADataSource

  • How to set a new value for an element inside an XML file....

    Hi guys...!
    I'm using Java to process an XML file and I want to able to make changes to the document. For instance, let say:
    <firstName> John </firstName>
    and I want to change the content or value of the element "firstName" to "Marc"
    <firstName>Marc</firstName>
    How can I get this done?
    This is the code that I have in my java file...But it doesn't work. Nothing happens. The firstName remains "John".
    Do I need to get the owner document to do this?
    firstPersonElement.getElementsByTagName("firstName").item(0).getFirstChild().setNodeValue("Marc");
    Any suggestions will be appreciated...
    Thanks...
    --- Spirit_Away...

    IMHO, it should work the way you describe. Do you
    actually save the DOM tree to file afterwards?Good point. No, actually.
    How do you save the document in that case ???
    Any suggestions...
    Thanks...

  • Using Elements from an XML File

    Background: I am writing a config file for an applicaiton and inside this file on initial setup parameters are supplied. I can get some to work (i.e. directories and such), but when i try to give it the driver name for the database, the Class.forName method fails.
    I read out the value from the element:
    <sql_driver>"sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"</sql_driver>Then when i try to apply that string to the Class.forName() method I get the following error.
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: "sun/jdbc/odbc/JdbcOdbcDriver"I don't understand why it shows up with "/" insead of "."
    Any thoughts would be great, I have been working this for a while.
    Thanks in advance,
    RDE

    I have tried it both ways, using the quotes in the xml file and putting the quotes in after I read the String out. I am just really confused as to why the String replaces "." for "/"..... Is there something I am missing?
                String driverName = ReadConfig.sqldriver;
                Class.forName(driverName);
    or
                String driverName = '"' + ReadConfig.sqldriver + '"';

  • How to remove element namespaces in XML file using DOM or SAX?

    Hi Guys,
    I developed a JAVA mapping in XI to add name spaces for XML file, after mapping,name spaces xmlns="http://www.mro.com/mx/integration" and xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" were added correctly, but for some nodes, such as <Header> and <Content>, a name space xmlns="" was added automatically.Please check below files to compare.
    It looks like be added automatically by XI. I didn't process anything for these nodes in JAVA program.
    Now the issue is, how can I remove these redundant namespaces? Such as xmlns="".
    Can I remove them using DOM or SAX in JAVA Mapping?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Milan,
    Thanks for your replay.
    Actually when I used module XMLAnonymizerBean to convert namespaces, the header of XML, such as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> was converted to format <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>, quote was converted to single quote. Although I set parameter anonymizer.quote = ", it still didn't work, single quote appeared instead of quote.
    I'm not sure why this happened. Can anyone help to clarify this?
    Thanks

  • How to read elements in a xml file sent as a string

    Hi,
    I am new to BPEL and i am working on a requirement where i receive the XML message as a String from an AQ. And I am not able parse the xml to read the individual elements of it. Appreciate your help on this.
    The (sample)input message from Q is which i am able to see in the BPEL console:
    <BUGINFO_XML>
    <XML_MESSAGE>
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <BUGINFO>
    <SR_ID>3-29OU7OF</SR_ID>
    <OBJECT_TYPE>UPDATE_PREBUG</OBJECT_TYPE>
    <RESERVED_BUG_NUM>8221084</RESERVED_BUG_NUM>
    <TYPE>Predefect Update</TYPE>
    <AUDIENCE>INTERNAL</AUDIENCE>
    <COMMENT>TEST activity by Sireesha</COMMENT>
    </BUGINFO>
    </XML_MESSAGE>
    </BUGINFO_XML>
    and the corresponding xsd file is:
    <schema targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/ORIONCC"
    xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:ORIONCC="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/ORIONCC"
    elementFormDefault="unqualified" attributeFormDefault="qualified">
    <complexType name="BUGINFO_XML">
    <sequence>
    <element name="XML_MESSAGE" type="string" nillable="true" minOccurs="0"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    <element name="BUGINFO_XML" type="ORIONCC:BUGINFO_XML" />
    </schema>
    i have created a variable(called VariableXML) of element type of the above xsd type({http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/ORIONCC}BUGINFO_XML) and using ora:parseEscapedXML method, i copied the input data to this variable and i can see the data copied fine to this variable, but after that i am not able to traverse to the individual element of it say i want the value of SR_ID which i am not able to get.
    <VariableXML>
    <BUGINFO_XML>
    <SR_ID>3-29OU7OF</SR_ID>
    <OBJECT_TYPE>UPDATE_PREBUG</OBJECT_TYPE>
    <RESERVED_BUG_NUM>8221084</RESERVED_BUG_NUM>
    <TYPE>Predefect Update</TYPE>
    <AUDIENCE>INTERNAL</AUDIENCE>
    <COMMENT>TEST activity by Sireesha</COMMENT>
    </BUGINFO_XML>
    </VariableXML>
    When i see the structure of this variable in the Assign activity i can see only up to '/ns2:BUGINFO_XML/XML_MESSAGE' but not the individual elements.
    Please let me know how can i parse this xml to read the elements of it.
    I am using jdev 11.1.1.4 and weblogic 10.3

    Thanks for replying Tarak,
    I have taken the XML generated by VariableXML variable and generated a XSD out of it and that looks like below.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns="http://www.example.org"
    targetNamespace="http://www.example.org"
    elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:element name="BUGINFO_XML">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="SR_ID" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="OBJECT_TYPE" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="RESERVED_BUG_NUM" type="xsd:integer"/>
    <xsd:element name="TYPE" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="AUDIENCE" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="COMMENT" type="xsd:string"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    Then I have created a variable called VariableBugInfo of this element type ({http://www.example.org}BUGINFO_XML) and tried parsing it as below.
    <assign name = 'Assign2'>
    <copy>
    <from expression="oraext:parseXML(bpws:getVariableData('VariableXML','/ns2:BUGINFO_XML'))"/>
    <to variable="VariableBugInfo" query="/ns4:BUGINFO_XML"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    then i got the below error in the bpel console when im testing my bpel process.
    The following exception occurred while attempting to execute operation copy at line 118

    but when i tried a normal copy from VariableXML BUGINFO to VariableBugInfo as below, i am not getting any error but its not actually copying the contents to individual tags, because after this Assign i created a simple string variable(objTypeVar) and when i tried to copy TYPE element value to it, it says 'The result is empty for the XPath expression : "/ns4:BUGINFO_XML/ns4:TYPE".'
    <assign name="Assign2">
    <copy>
    <from variable="VariableXML" query="/ns2:BUGINFO_XML"/>

    <from variable="VariableBugInfo"
    query="/ns4:BUGINFO_XML/ns4:TYPE"/>
    <to variable="objTypeVar"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    Result in console for VariableBugInfo for Assign2:
    <VariableBugInfo>
    <BUGINFO_XML>

    <OBJECT_TYPE>UPDATE_PREBUG</OBJECT_TYPE>

    <TYPE>Predefect Update</TYPE>
    <AUDIENCE>INTERNAL</AUDIENCE>
    <COMMENT>TEST activity by Sireesha</COMMENT>
    </BUGINFO_XML>
    </VariableBugInfo>
    For Assign 3:
    Error in evaluate <from> expression at line "141". The result is empty for the XPath expression : "/ns4:BUGINFO_XML/ns4:TYPE".
    I feel there is something i am missing in the XSD and the target namespace which is causing the issue. I am not sure what i should provide in the target namesapce in the new xsd which i created based on the value of VariableXML , so that it actually parses the xml and copies exact elements of it.
    Please let me know if i am doing something wrong anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Sireesha

  • DTD for deployment  xml file for providers

    Hi all,
    where can I find the DTD for the deployment file that is to be used in .par file for the custom providers for Portal Server 6.0 and 6.2. ?
    Thanks,
    Klara

    in case you mean portlets then it is:
    portlet.xsd contains reference to http://www.w3.org/2001/xml.xsd.
    in case you mean providers, e.g. smpleMailservice:
    /ps-base/SUNWam/dtd/sms.dtd
    or
    /ps-base/SUNWam/dtd
    with all the named dtd's

  • Loading XML file with missing elements dynamically through ODI

    Hi Guys ,
    I have the below xml file with two nodes Employee and Address. On a daily basis , sometimes the address element might not come in from the source xml file , but my interface has columns mapped to address elements, and hence it can fail due to the source element not being found in the file or data might not get loaded due to the 'and' condition in the sql query generated between the employee and address elements.  Is there a way where i can load the data dynamically where i can search in the file only for the elements (Employee) present and load data only for those elements dynamically?
    XML File:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <EMP>
    <Empsch>
    <Employee>
    <EmployeeID>12345</EmployeeID>

    <WorkPhone>12345</WorkPhone>

    I have a xml file and i want to read it in a jsp file.I use some java classes to read the xml file.I use DOM.
    In the jsp file i'm calling a function from a clas that returns a vector with elements from the xml file.
    Problem:If the same function is called by a main function (not in web app) it works just fine,but if the function is called in a jsp file it does not see the xml file!!!!
    Question:Where do i have to place my xml file that my function called in a jsp file to see (use) the xml file??
    Describe the exact location please....the directory
    Please help me.I've tried everything.
    Thank you

    For example if you put your XML under WEB-INF then from JSP it can be accessible as:
    String path = session.getServletContext().getRealPath("/WEB-INF/myfile.xml");
    .. read the file code goes here ...
    P.S. That will work if your application is not packed into WAR.

  • Sending an XML file to a hashmap, using one of the elements as a key?

    I am looking for a way to read an XML file to a hashmap.
    So far I have learned to use javax.xml.parsers.*; tools to read the XML file
    and I can send different elements of the XML file to the screen all day.
    here is some snippets of what I'm doing now:
    public class GLDefaultLoader {
      protected String xmlFileName = "gl.xml";
      private Document loadXML(String filename) throws Exception {
        filename= "gl.xml";
        Document doc = null;
        try {
          DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
          DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder();
          db.setErrorHandler(new com.abcsinc.fwk.dom.MySaxErrorHandler());
           doc = db.parse(new File("gl.xml").getAbsolutePath());
        } // after this we do variuos catches
    // here Im getting started on my hashmap
    private HashMap buildGLDefaultsItems(Document doc) throws IOException,
          ParserConfigurationException,
          SAXException {
        HashMap hashMap = new HashMap();
        doc.getDocumentElement().normalize();
        System.out.println("Root element of the doc is " + doc.getDocumentElement().getNodeName());
        NodeList listOfQueries = doc.getElementsByTagName("glDefaultsItem");
        int totalQueries = listOfQueries.getLength();
        System.out.println("Total number of Queries : " + totalQueries);----------------------------------------
    I think I'm going In the right direction but I'm kinda stuck, wallowing in ignorance maybe, lol

  • How to generate an XML file from SSIS (based on an XSD)?

    I have an XSD that describes an XML format. I also have a sample XML file as well from the XSD. I am trying to understand SSIS's capability to generate the XML file in an ETL process. I would need to create the XML file based on the XSD that
    I have. It is safe to assume that all the data elements are in the DB that I am incorporating in the ETL and it is also safe to assume that the data in the XML may be from multiple different tables (so massaging is probably necessary).
    Would this be a job for C#/VB or can I do this through an SSIS process/task? Please help me understand my options. Thanks.

    Dear All,
    Indeed the post by RamJaddu did not answer the question. I am having the same issue: I have been provided an .xsd file which contains a data schema, and I have all of the necessary
    data in a .mdf file in order to create the required .xml file. Having queried SQL Server and received my data in "myDataSet" I can use C# to create the .xml ignoring the schema using
    string strSchemaFile = @"F:\Documents\UserCost\VictorianDataCollection\VCDCSchema_v2.xsd";
    string strXmlFile = "testXmlExport.xml";
    myDataSet.WriteXmlSchema(strSchemaFile);
    myDataSet.WriteXml(strXmlFile, XmlWriteMode.IgnoreSchema);
    but how do I export the .xml file so that is conforms with the .xsd format?
    If any of you have worked this out the answer would be most appreciated.
    All the best,
    Nick
